Your role

As a Community Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Being connected to the RNLI community in your area and the primary point of contact for all things engagement (fundraising, retail and visitor experience)
• Empowering volunteer engagement crew to do what they do best, engaging the public, sharing our RNLI vision and growing support for our cause
• Supporting volunteer engagement crew to achieve key income, footfall and contact goals and seeking ways to engage new audiences
• Being part of an amazing regional team, working collaboratively to shape the future of RNLI engagement and provide an outstanding level of care to staff, volunteers and supporters

Job Summary

This role is an expansion of our employment pathway and will be our first dedicated employment coach for our students.

PiP has developed a unique reputation for our experience and quality of employment support for adults with learning disabilities. This has led to an increased number of referrals with a focus on employment, an expansion of our in-house social enterprise capacity, and more employers keen to work alongside us to diversify their staff base.

PiP is keen to respond to and meet this demand. This role for us is the next step in doing so, allowing us to increase our job coaching capacity and providing more dedicated resource for students on their employment journey. As to date our coaching has been delivered across our existing staff team.

What We Offer:

· The salary for this role is circa £29,500 dependent on experience with incremental pay progression.

You'll get 25 days holiday + bank holidays ever year. We're closed for Christmas but the rest of the year you may take leave whenever you wish.

Hybrid working

This is a hybrid role. You will be working from home and join Team Together Days in a co-working space in London 2-3 individual days each month. These days are considered commuting days. You do not need to live in London to apply for this role, but you will need to consider what you feel is a reasonable commuting distance for the team days in London.

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Horticultural Therapist with a track record of coordinating inclusive gardening sessions for the local community.

You will be responsible for supporting people to work towards their goals in a garden setting and developing people's practical and social skills.

To facilitate therapeutic placements for people with learning disabilities, mental ill health and long-term health conditions, and complex needs using social and therapeutic horticulture principles, currently held on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

About Mental Health Innovations (MHI)

Founded in November 2017 following the success of The Royal Foundation’s ‘Heads Together’ campaign, it launched its first product, Shout, in 2019. Shout is a free, confidential, 24/7 text message service for anybody to text when they may be struggling with anxiety, loneliness or depression through to self harm or suicidal thoughts.

Job Purpose:

To support the recruitment and admission of new volunteers, promoting volunteering opportunities and completing background checks.

Key Responsibilities 

• Ask for and check references for new volunteers
• Coordinate and attend volunteer recruitment events, such as Universities; organise volunteers and staff to support
• Follow up with prospective volunteers to encourage them to apply
• Work with the Communications team to promote volunteering opportunities online
• Coordinate and run regular information sessions for prospective volunteers to explain the volunteering opportunities
• Initiate contact with volunteers and trainees to process DBS/PVG/police vetting checks as required
• Check the status of volunteers who are part of the relevant Update Service
• Proactively monitor and follow up on the progress of checks to keep on top of weekly targets
• Coordinate video calls to verify ID documents, checking documents with utmost attention to detail
• Handle queries on checks, and troubleshoot cases such as missing documentation or anything outside the accepted DBS/PVG/police vetting procedure
• Liaise with our selected external provider for any queries

• To develop a volunteer recruitment plan to meet programme and organisational need; and to work closely with the corporate partnerships team and programme and regional managers to implement the recruitment plan, for example working with the Heads of Mentoring to implement a university student recruitment plan for the Mentoring programme
• To deliver guidance and training to support local IntoUniversity centres to implement the recruitment plan, including working with universities and community organisations
• To manage volunteer enquiries and national recruitment channels, such as volunteering sites and networks

Volunteer onboarding

• To use the charity’s Salesforce database to manage the volunteer pipeline - from application, to selection and training, to centre allocation
• To manage the process of onboarding steps including application form, training, Safer Recruitment checks, and support local IntoUniversity centres to implement the onboarding process consistently
• To work with the programmes and delivery team to ensure efficient induction takes place and to ensure staff are recording all volunteering activity on Salesforce

Volunteer training

• To implement a high-quality volunteer training programme for regular volunteer roles, including: organisation of a training schedule and staffing; facilitation of training (alongside delivery staff); providing guidance and training to staff to deliver volunteer training; reviewing training resources and facilitation

Volunteer experience:

• To provide support, resources, and training to centre staff and programme managers to ensure quality volunteer management throughout the volunteer lifecycle
• To implement volunteer development and recognition strategies to ensure volunteers feel valued as part of the IntoUniversity team and to support centre teams to build lasting relationships with volunteers to support retention
• To develop best practice in volunteering across IntoUniversity, including reviewing and evaluating current practice in the sector

At Refugee Action Kingston (RAK) we're dedicated to helping the successful integration of refugees and people seeking asylum into the local community. With over three decades of experience, we provide a comprehensive range of services including welfare support, immigration and legal advice, education, counselling, and career guidance.  

RAK employs 15 staff and currently has nearly 200 volunteers. In 2023/24 more than 2,000 people benefited from our services: 

• 1,171 clients accessed advice and advocacy services, including immigration advice 

• 305 clients attended our ESOL classes 

• 250 children, young people and families benefited from our after-school and family support services 

• 61 people were supported by our counselling team

Role Overview

Location: We have an office in Kingston Upon Thames, greater London. Flexible and hybrid working is offered to all staff. 

Hours: 35 hours per week (including paid half-hour lunch break)

As the CEO of Refugee Action Kingston, you'll lead our organisation in supporting refugees and people seeking asylum in south west London to lead fulfilled and independent lives. Your responsibilities will include:  

Strategic leadership  

• Developing and implementing annual plans aligned with our strategy, in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, to achieve desired outcomes.  

• Maintaining efficient systems for the charity's operations, ensuring good governance and financial sustainability.  

• Overseeing all aspects of organisational management including finances, resources, services, and communications, in cooperation with trustees.  

 
Governance and organisational management  

• Working closely with trustees to direct and deliver RAK's objectives according to the charity's strategy.

Job Description

1. Maintain remote volunteer overview in line with remote volunteer agreement and guidelines working closely with Remote Services Coordinator
