Our culture and values

We know our people are our most important asset, therefore we are committed to supporting our employees to learn and grow with our aspirational yet achievable People Plan.

Our People Plan sets out the strategic direction over the next three years. This includes the interventions that are required to ensure we develop an organisation that is continuously fit for purpose, lives it values and delivers its goal. It seeks to enable and equip our people with necessary knowledge, skills, experience, and attitudes to deliver a thriving network for everyone.

Our Values

  • Make stuff better: Constantly asking ourselves if we can improve on what we do and how we do it.
  • Crack on and muck in: Coming to work with a mindset as a team, getting the job done, and achieving what we set out to do.
  • Make a difference: We have a deep desire to ensure that everything we do leaves a positive and lasting ripple effect.
  • Be the best we can be: We are committed to role modelling the best of ourselves in all that we do and how we do it.
  • Make a strong environmental impactOur commitment to ensuring that everything we do contributes to building a sustainable planet.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

Everyone deserves to have nature in their lives, that’s why we pledge to create safe, welcoming environments for people who face barriers to accessing green spaces and make our activities relevant to all.

We can only do this by recognising that we need to do more, to champion inclusion and diversity within our employees, volunteers, supporters, and partners. That’s why last year EDI became one of TCV’s strategic goals in our refreshed strategy ‘For People and Green Spaces – ‘For everyone’. This is the starting point for all our commitments and actions and underpins our dedication to having a fully inclusive and diverse organisation that reflect the communities in which we work.

We understand the power of diversity amongst our workforce and the benefits to us in achieving our organisational aim of ‘connecting people with green spaces’, therefore we strongly encourage applications from communities which are under-represented in our charity. This includes people from ethnic minority backgrounds, people with disabilities, people who are LGBT+ or who are from less advantaged socioeconomic groups.

Disability Confident

We are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer. The Disability Confident Scheme aims to help organisations to recruit and retain more people with disabilities and other health conditions.

At TCV we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where people of all abilities can thrive. Through our Disability Confident Employer commitments, we pledge to actively recruit, support, and retain individuals with disabilities. We strive to provide accessible opportunities, remove barriers, and promote diversity and equality in all aspects of our organisation. By embracing the principles of Disability Confident, we aim to create a workplace that celebrates the unique talents and contributions of every individual.

We have 20 Mental Health First Aiders, provide our employees with access to a number of external organisations and we work with our EDI champions to ensure our employees feel supported.

As a Disability Confident Employer, we offer interviews to all applicants who have a disability, impairment or mental or physical health condition who meet the minimum criteria for the job.
