We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Community Development Worker to work as part of our Oasis Hub on the Isle of Sheppey, to engage and work with the community by helping them to access Hub activities, and the social supermarket project.

Key responsibilities will be:

1. To deliver the Sheppey Support Bus project and ensure its day-to-day operational tasks are fulfilled.
2. To liaise with our community partners including supermarkets, Fairshare etc to support and provide for Oasis activities, including the Sheppey Support Bus.
3. To monitor and evaluate activities using monitoring tools available to the team.
4. To develop other opportunities that will enhance our offer to the local community.

The successful post holder must have:

• A relevant professional qualification in Community Work or able to demonstrate qualification by experience.
• Successful experience of working with complex communities.
• The ability to deal with private information and sensitive issues with a calm and confident approach in difficult situations.
• Ability to function in diverse settings and with a wide range of professional agencies.
• Self-motivation, resilience, excellent organisational/administrative and inter-personal skills are essential for this role.

Who will I be changing the lives of?

All of our learners have an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and as a result all have some level of additional need.  Some of the most common areas of need that we see are Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH), Autism (ASC), ADHD although we work with learners with a much broader range of needs. 

Main Responsibilities

1. Responsible for the planning and delivery of Functional Skills Maths and/or English.
2. To deliver and implement teaching and learning practices to raise student standards and progress
3. To develop and deliver high quality teaching materials and schemes of learning that keep students engaged using creativity, differentiation and extension tasks
4. Plan effectively to ensure pupils have the opportunity to meet their potential, taking account of the needs of pupils who are underachieving, those that are able and those that are excelling in Maths  or English
5. To meet the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and in collaboration with the SENCO to prepare, implement, monitor and review Individual Educational Packages.
6. Deliver quality on-site youth work to help all our young people overcome multiple complex educational barriers.
7. To provide a high-quality student experience that enables students to succeed beyond their expectations
8. Promote Inclusion best practice and contribute to the aims and ethos of the college
9. Working with students from Pre-Entry to Level 2
10. Responsible for comprehensive marking and written and verbal feedback for students
11. Working in conjunction with the Outstanding and Good criteria for OFSTED
12. To participate in weekly group engagement activities such as bowling, nature walks, climbing, graffiti workshops etc to ensure you build a strong rapport with all students.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Create digital materials to support the Fundraising team across all income generation streams with their activities and campaigns throughout the year.

Over time, act as a brand champion within hyh, promoting the use of social media and encouraging greater understanding of the website and social media channels

Keep abreast of new developments, trends and technologies, identifying and proposing new digital opportunities for hyh.

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). Working part-time (minimum 28 hours a week) will be considered. When applying, please state what hours you are looking to work. Salary: Starting at £23,928 with potential annual step increases up to £26,930 (pro rata if working part-time), plus statutory employer’s pension contribution. In addition to an annual step increase, the trustees consider giving a separate inflationary increase every April.

Location: Remote or from Rainbow Migration’s offices which are based in London between Vauxhall and the Oval. Hybrid working will also be considered. The successful candidate could work from anywhere in the UK but would be expected to occasionally travel to London and other parts of the country for meetings and events. The Immigration Adviser at LAH will provide advice and assistance on basic visa and immigration matters, including handling straightforward cases, often referred to as "initial advice" or "entry-level advice." You will assist LAH service users with applications within the immigration rules including visitor visas, Spouse and dependent visas, straightforward EU Settlement Scheme applications, extensions of leave and Settlement and British citizenship applications, offering advice on non-complex immigration rules and regulations, and explaining to LAH service users the relevant procedures, helping them to complete application forms and gather necessary supporting documents.

Main duties and responsibilities 
● Efficiently responding to LAH service users' inquiries while creating a friendly, warm, and welcoming environment
● Providing one-to-one specialist high-quality immigration advice at OISC Level 1 on basic immigration matters, including visitor visas, Spouse and dependent visas, straightforward EU Settlement Scheme applications, extensions of leave to remain, Settlement and British citizenship applications, providing guidance on eligibility and ensuring LAH service users understand their rights and obligations
● Representing LAH service users by completing straightforward application forms, such as visa and leave to remain applications, and assisting them in gathering and preparing the necessary documentation for their applications, maintaining professional conduct with LAH service Users at all times
● Liaising with the Home Office and other relevant authorities on behalf of LAH service users for non-complex matters and submitting high standard applications to the Home Office
● Assisting LAH service users with correspondence related to their applications or immigration status
● Recognising when a case is beyond the scope of OISC Level 1 authorisation, such as appeals, asylum cases, or more complex immigration matters, and referring these to higher-level advisers or solicitors

Monitoring and Evaluation
● Maintaining accurate records and case files, ensuring all advice and actions are properly documented, adhering to OISC Code of Standards and AQS
● Overseeing administrative systems for case management and partaking external file reviews and supervision as instructed, tracking workload, and monitoring submitted applications and their outcomes
● Assisting in demonstrating the impact of our work by recording clear and detailed case notes in our database and tracking outcomes against project targets, identifying challenges and issues affecting the LAH community, all of which will be used to inform our provision

Professional Development

Other Accountabilities
● Ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with LAH's policies and procedures as well as with the OISC and AQS Code of Standards
● Participating in regular one-to-one sessions for both service and professional development purposes, including regular supervision to assess the quality standard of advice work
● Working closely and collaboratively with other advisers, staff team members, interns, trainees, and volunteers as needed to address the holistic needs and circumstances of LAH service users
● Supporting the preparation for audits by the OISC and AQS, as well as for internal and external reports
● Collaborating with the Head of Operations to ensure the smooth running of the service and implement an efficient administrative strategy
● Conducting workshops and presentations on immigration matters as instructed
● Assisting in creating, maintaining, and distributing relevant informational materials and resources for both the team and service users

The Latin American Women’s Rights Service (LAWRS) is a human rights and feminist organisation led by and for Latin American migrant women in the UK. Our work is dedicated to supporting the immediate and long-term needs of Latin American migrant women exposed to violations of their fundamental human rights; facing violence against women and girls, exploitation or trafficking; enduring difficult living and working conditions in low paid jobs and facing barriers to social protection.

LAWRS Social Change team reflects our inclusive approach to developing policy, advocacy and campaigning work by centring the experience of the most marginalised and excluded women to call for social justice. By enabling the participation of women with lived experience in policy and campaigning work our social change team promotes a holistic, rather than issue based, understanding of human rights violations experienced by Latin American migrant women in order to tackle systemic barriers that heighten migrant women’s vulnerability to abuses and which bars them from exercising their rights, accessing justice and leading violence free lives.

The post holder will be responsible for the implementation of LAWRS’ communications strategy working closely with the Policy and Communications team to provide digital, editorial, creative and operational communications support across the organisation’s work.

You will have an excellent command of English and Spanish or English and Portuguese.
