Finance Assistant (Part-Time) 
 
Location: Shoreditch, East London 
Salary: £27,008 (pro rata to £16,205 for 22.5 hours per week) 
Contract: Permanent, part-time 

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Finance Assistant will play a vital role in the day-to-day financial administration of the charity. You will manage transactions using QuickBooks, process invoices and payments, assist with payroll, support the preparation for audit, and maintain accurate financial records. You'll also help us improve our financial systems as we continue to grow and adapt. 

This role also includes occasional receptionist cover, so we’re looking for someone friendly, reliable and adaptable.

You will keep fundraisers informed of updates and progress in key projects and areas of work, supporting funder meetings by providing up to date information. • To act as a resource for colleagues offering direction through the service innovation process, assisting colleagues with document/project development and the agreed deliverables, and being available for light touch project support and guidance

The Early Help IDVA will be co-located within Brent Early Help and will help raise the team’s awareness, identification and response to those experiencing domestic abuse, the post holder will jointly work with Early Help Practitioners on cases to support service users and improve partnership responses.

The post holder will have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children. The post holder will understand children’s social care and care proceedings. As an experienced domestic abuse advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs, the post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic abuse, of supporting women involved with Children’s Social Services and Early Help, and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.

A car may be desirable for this role, though not essential

About You:

To be successful as the Early Help IDVA you will need the below experience and skills:

A thorough understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence (physical, emotional and sexual violence, so-called ‘honour-based violence’, forced marriage, stalking and harassment) and its impact on women, children, families and communities.

Experience of working with social care agencies or in a social care setting.

Experience of partnership working and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a

range of stakeholders.

Excellent risk assessment, support and advocacy skills and the ability to advocate successfully using evidence and professional experience.

Ability to network, influence, problem solve and apply solution focused approaches to increase access and safety and facilitate positive outcomes for women and children

We believe in empowering women and girls to lead safe, non-violent, equal lives and you will play a key role in helping us deliver vital services to those who need them the most. As a Benefits and Debt Worker you will provide service users with advice and support on finance and debt. Carrying out comprehensive assessments, via phone and face-to-face, and you will provide advocacy and support that empowers survivors primarily during crises and in the short term. You will also proactively work with other agencies on the service users’ behalf. You will hold a caseload of survivors and work as part of our duty team on a rota basis which will involve completing intake assessments and providing crisis intervention support.

About You:

To be successful as the Benefits and Debt Worker you will need the below experience and skills:

You will have the ability to encourage user engagement with the service through proactive contact. Maintain project logs and collate data from the logs for Team Managers. Proactively assess the needs and safety of any children that women using the service may have. Bring your experience of providing benefit, and debt advice and successfully, managing high numbers of calls and/or cases and have a solid understanding (possibly experience) of supporting women who have experienced domestic violence, forced marriage or ‘honour-based violence.

This is a new and exciting service, and we are looking for someone passionate about ensuring that all survivors of domestic abuse are able to access safe and appropriate accommodation which meets their needs.

To be successful as the Senior Specialist Housing IDVA you will need the below experience and skills:

You will bring solid experience of supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse in all its forms; coming from a sector with transferrable skills or possess a feminist/VAWG higher level qualification.

You will have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on survivors and their children, and of best practice within the domestic abuse and housing sectors. You will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. The post holder will hold a caseload of survivors and will also be required to support Advance’s duty team on a rota basis which will involve completing intake assessments and providing crisis intervention support.

The Role

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced support worker to join our Young People Support Team based in Hackney. You will provide client directed, person centred support to help young people achieve personal goals and aspirations for independent living, training, employment, and education. You will assist and collaborate with young people to create and carry out a support plan designed around their needs and aspirations, providing information and inspiration, practical support, innovation, and encouragement. You will have an individual caseload but will work alongside a team of Support Workers, with similar client groups, working to the same principles and goals.

We are looking for a dynamic and organised Volunteer & Community Lead to join our team. This role will focus on managing and growing our network of volunteers while also strengthening relationships with the community through outreach initiatives.You will play a key role in recruiting, supporting, and retaining volunteers for our hub and community programmes, as well as leading fundraising initiatives to engage schools, businesses, and individuals.

About Sebby’s Corner

Sebby's Corner is based in Barnet, EN5 and our aim is to ensure that no child goes without the basic essentials they need to thrive. We supply items such as clothing, nappies, formula and baby equipment to local families living in poverty. Families in need get referred to us by social workers, health visitors, family support workers, midwives and other professionals. We work with almost 800 different referral partners across 400 different organisations.

We also offer school uniform support and we have a Birthday Club that ensures that a child who would otherwise go without has a gift, cake, balloons and decorations to celebrate their special day. At Christmas, we host a Grotto where parents can come and choose a gift for their child at no cost. We have a new partnership with Citizen’s Advice Barnet that allows families to book an appointment with an advisor at our hub.

In addition to our baby bank services, we work to engage and inspire the community through fundraising, volunteering opportunities, and outreach programmes. Key Tasks and Accountabilities

Volunteer Management

• Oversee the day-to-day management of volunteers, ensuring tasks are clearly defined and their time is used productively.
• Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies to attract new volunteers and new hub leaders including targeted campaigns and partnerships with local schools and community organisations.
• Create and maintain a volunteer database, tracking availability, skills, and engagement.
• Deliver volunteer induction sessions and ongoing training as needed.
• Build a welcoming and inclusive volunteer culture, ensuring volunteers feel valued and motivated.

Community Outreach

• Represent Sebby’s Corner by speaking at schools, community groups, and local businesses to promote our mission and encourage support.
• Develop and deliver outreach programmes to inspire community involvement, such as fundraising initiatives and challenge events.
• Act as a key contact for schools, organising donation drives and volunteer days.
• Recruit participants for fundraising activities such as marathons, walks, or bake sales.
• Send thank-you letters and certificates to fundraisers and donors, recognising their contributions.

Event Planning and Support

• Assist in planning and running Sebby’s Corner events, including seasonal fundraisers and awareness campaigns.
• Support the organisation and delivery of volunteer and community recognition events.

Administrative Duties

• Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, community partnerships, and event outcomes.
• Develop reports and insights on volunteer and outreach activity to inform future strategy.
• Support the team with general administrative tasks related to volunteers and community outreach.

About your skills and experience

Essential

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience managing and recruiting volunteers.
• Ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks effectively.
• Comfortable speaking to groups and delivering presentations.
• Strong relationship-building skills and a passion for community engagement.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word). 

Desirable

• Experience working in the charity sector.
• Knowledge of volunteer management best practices.
• Experience planning or supporting fundraising events.
• Full, clean driving licence.

What we can offer

Salary and pension

The salary for this role is £28,500 annum FTE (this will be pro-rated to reflect your working hours if you work less than 35 hours per week and is subject to normal deductions). If eligible to join the pension, we will match your contributions by 5%.

Annual leave

You will be entitled to 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays (these will be pro-rated to reflect your working hours if you work less than 35 hours per week). We usually give the team time off between Christmas and New Year that doesn’t come off your allowance.

Our dialogue team work with a range of different agencies to deliver our face to face fundraising campaigns. These campaigns help fundraise to change children’s lives every single day. 

These roles are known internally as Senior Individual Giving Executive – Direct Dialogue.

Salary

The salary for this position is £36,654 per annum and we operate a hybrid working model of a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

This is a varied role encompassing:

• Campaign management for rolling fundraising activities.
