Bridge 5 Mill is a centre of social change in a historic 5 storey mill on the edge of Ancoats, comprising workspaces and event spaces. Our unique sustainable and ethical approach characterises our building and drives all our activities. Bridge 5 Mill is part of a family of organisations including the Kindling Trust, promoting ecological and social justice through a broad range of projects. 

We have just secured funding to fix our broken lift. This is great news, as the period without a lift had a significant impact on our community of tenants, wider users and also therefore, on our income from venue hire (with much less events able to take place during this time). This came on the tail of the Covid pandemic, which transformed how and when people use workspaces and events spaces. The funding means we are now at a pivotal time to rebuild both our events program and our offer as a beautiful, ethical and central venue to hire, as well as exploring how to diversify our services. You will be an instrumental part in the development and growth of our activities and in overcoming these recent challenges.

We are looking for a motivated and passionate person to join our small team here at Bridge 5 Mill. You will be part of an exciting new chapter for our organisation, as we prepare for our events “relaunch”,  diversify our services and begin working on exciting new development projects. As our Finance Manager, you will be an integral part of this transition, working alongside the Building Manager and Community Engagement Manager, to increase event occupancy, improve our current services and financially futureproof Bridge 5 Mill.

MAIN DUTIES

Bookkeeping;

• Bank reconciliation
• Invoicing and payment management
• Purchases and paying bills
• Assist our accountant with HMRC duties 

Prepare financial reports;

• Prepare quarterly management reports for Board of Trustees
• Create budgets & forecasts
• Compare budgets versus actuals & collaborate with the operations team on where to make improvements
• Identify and monitor financial Key Performance Indicators
• Submitting relevant documents to companies House, Charity Commission etc.

Fundraising;

• Research and apply for loans, grants and blended finance options as needed
• Reporting to funders on grant progress
• Liaise with operations team on financial viability of future development plans 

Reception cover (to cover annual leave / sickness when needed);

• Sit at reception to cover annual leave / sickness when needed
• Take booking enquiries over the phone & via email 
• Respond to tenant queries 
• Welcome guests 

Other;

Salary: £24, 570 pro rata per annum (for a 37.5 hour working week), plus 5% employer pension contribution (actual salary for 22.5  hours a week: £14,742 per annum). Salary based on Real Living Wage 2025/26.

About the role:

We are looking to appoint an experienced fundraiser to secure new corporate partnerships to help fund the growth of our care services, and to build relationships with companies to help them achieve their CSR goals.

Reporting to the Corporate and Community Fundraising Manager. You will be part of a team to drive Rainbow Trust’s Corporate income, building and maintaining the pipeline through effective networking, prospecting, and stewardship. You will be responsible for a varied and fulfilling portfolio of accounts to whom you will become a main contact and provide excellent corporate account management. Some accounts raising six figure sums, to whom you will become a main contact and provide excellent account management.

You will work collaboratively towards a ‘one team one target’ approach across the Fundraising and Engagement department and ensure that the use of technology is maximized and all processes are subject to continuous improvement.

The Office Manager role is crucial to our very busy and friendly office of 14 people and is incredibly varied and interesting. You will be comfortable working with deadlines and priorities, managing your own workload and the expectations of others.  It is an incredibly rewarding role for someone who has the passion and commitment to help the Foundation address inequalities and to tackle poverty and inequality at a local level. No two days will be the same.

- You will need excellent communication skills, as you will often be the first point of contact for all enquiries, including grant applicants donors, and room bookings.

- You will support the fundraising and programmes team with running events and resident panels.

- You will be responsible for ensuring that the building is safe, well maintained and accessible to all staff, tenants and visitors, including sourcing and managing contractors.

- You will support the finance and fundraising teams with data entry and reporting, purchasing and reconciliations.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn about the voluntary sector, particularly learning about trusts and foundations and grant making, as well as developing skills in a variety of admin functions, such as databases, finance, premises and health and safety.

You will also have the opportunity to meet the organisations we fund and work with as well as actively contribute towards our pledge of meeting the ACF’s Funder Commitment on Climate Change and our DEI Strategic workplan (available on request). This will allow you to develop your skills at the Foundation, ranging from project planning, communication, finance, and customer service. We are looking for an experienced senior fundraiser who has demonstrable success in generating income through a range of income streams and prides themselves on compelling, engaging written communications for a range of audiences. Recently kicking off our new ‘Creating Positive Change Together’ strategy, coproduced by over 130 staff, volunteers, clients and partner, Groundswell has ambitious plans and a compelling model which in its simplest form promotes healthier lives and a better future for anyone who has experienced homelessness. 

The post-holder will have the opportunity to develop Groundswell’s next fundraising strategy, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and particularly Finance & Fundraising Director who can bring a wealth of knowledge and insight from recent external and internal reviews of Groundswell’s fundraising portfolio. You will be a champion for the joined up working of fundraising and communications, with the ability to line manage a team and lead strategic plans to engage a range of current and potential donors (individuals, trusts, corporates) to diversify Groundswell’s income and ultimately help Groundswell continue to create positive change in the lives of people, services and systems on their mission to tackle homeless health inequalities.

You will put relationships and effective communications at the core of your work; ensuring both those who give (or have the potential to give), alongside crucial internal stakeholders are energised and involved in Groundswell’s mission. You will pride yourself in collaborative working to ensure the most successful chance of securing income, whilst being a self-starter who can manage their own workload effectively.

To raise voluntary income from a range of Grantmakers including Trusts, Foundations and local Government grant funders contributing to an overall team target of £1-million. Working effectively within the team unit and across the organisation you will meet individual targets through building excellent relationships with funders, leading to more young people reached by Eikon’s services.

Responsibilities:

Income generation

· Raise voluntary unrestricted and restricted income through submission of high-quality proposals (60% of time)

· Lead on developing the portfolio of funders, joining external networks, seeking out leads from internal staff/ trustees and developing intelligence on potential funders.

· Provide support as requested for significant strategic opportunities to support the Grants & Partnerships Lead.

· Develop an effective approach for raising unrestricting income.

· Work to agreed metrices including an annual target of £120,000-£150,000/year (exact target will be dependent on working hours agreed and level of experience), a set number of bids and reports submitted monthly, number of multi-year commitments and lifetime value of grants (to be agreed).

Target Audience:

Portfolio to include Surrey and Regional based funders including trusts, foundations and local government grant funders. Some of these will be existing, and some to be identified.

Account Management:

· Provide excellent account management to grant funders.

· Optimise funding potential and retention of funders through quality and timely reports, regular communication including meetings, and through building excellent relationships.

· Thinking creatively, working with colleagues organise own events/opportunities to increase engagement of funders e.g. project visit, garden open day

· Identify other funding opportunities through relationships, for example for Major Donors, Corporate partnerships and Individual Givers.

· Lead on administration for all designated grants including thank you letters, updating Donorfy and sharing info/updates across the team (comprising approximately 15% of the time).

Internal Reporting:

· Manage accurate and up to date pipeline information on Donorfy, being able to pull reports for information and analysis including:

o Provision of data and narrative for monthly team meetings

o Contribution to Board reporting with narrative and pipeline information

o Analysis for annual planning sessions

Quality and standards:

· Ensure all staff and volunteers understand and deliver within Eikon’s safeguarding policies and practices when taking part in fundraising activities.

· Ensure all activities follow the relevant Fundraising Codes of Practice and Eikon’s Ethical Fundraising Policy.

· Prepare relevant Grant Agreements and contractual information.

· Carry out risk assessments for all activities for which you are responsible.

· Carry out required basic due diligence on new funders.

Finance and resources:

· Operate within organisational approved budgets, policies and procedures.

Communications and relationships:

· Support and liaise with the Marketing Communications Coordinator to deliver relevant and effective content and materials.

· Proactively increase social media activity through provision of content and encouragement of funders to engage.

Strategy/transformation work:

· Contribute to Engagement and Services Team’s annual plans and budgets and the Grants high level strategy.

· Provide coordination and organisation of internal team planning meetings and workshop, including timings, agenda items and preparation of meeting/workshop materials.

Organisational requirements:

As Media Manager you’ll be part of a busy, high-performing team responsible for the promotion of our work across a range of areas, including research, policy and campaigns, and fundraising.
