About the role
In this rewarding leadership role, you will lead, inspire, and guide large fundraising teams to achieve their goals and targets. While doing so, you will also deliver your own key projects, drive strategy and high performance to achieve our ambitious fundraising objectives, key performance indicators and income targets.
You will represent Macmillan across the territory and lead your team, who provide personalised, high-quality stewardship to supporters and volunteers which you will contribute to, building strong key relationships to grow fundraising income, focussing on the highest value opportunities while promoting Macmillan’s vital support and services.
Motivated by the many supporter stories you will hear and skilled in translating strategy using data and insight, you will deliver inspiring plans and presentations using your influencing and negotiation expertise, to demonstrate Macmillan’s compelling case for support and play a vital role in delivering income and impact for people living with cancer.
About you:
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrable leadership experience, skilled in leading teams through collaboration and empowerment.
- Proven ability to communicate, influence and negotiate at all levels with a variety of internal and external audiences.
- Experienced in planning and prioritisation, strategy formation and implementation, data analysis and translating insights into action.
- Results-driven leader, experienced in helping teams achieve both financial and non-financial objectives and targets.
- Experience in leading a team to deliver against annual income targets of £5million plus.
- Requirement to travel to events and meetings with teams and with supporters during and outside standard office hours.

The Role:
You will hold lead responsibility for the charity’s new business opportunities and income generation, ensuring the development opportunities are effectively maximised.
As Fundraising Officer your responsibility would primarily be to identify and complete tenders for contracts suited to the work of our organisation both locally and nationally. About you:

- Demonstrable track record as a successful fundraiser and business development professional in the charitable sector.
- Knowledge of the charitable sector, funders, council and government contracts.
- Understanding of the experiences of people who live with significant mental distress and the impact of trauma, racism and discrimination on mental health.

About The Murray Parish Trust
Children with a serious illness are three times more likely to struggle with their mental health. Their childhoods are overshadowed by coming to terms with diagnosis, hospital stays, treatment, feeling different from friends or managing how their illness affects daily life. Many of them struggle with severe anxiety and depression, experiencing isolation and trauma during their journey. These children are at much higher risk of long-term mental health difficulties that are more complex and difficult to treat, on top of living with often complex medical needs.
Actors Jim Murray and Sarah Parish’s first daughter, Ella-Jayne, was born with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome in 2009 and spent half her short life in paediatric intensive care, Southampton Children’s Hospital. Ella-Jayne died, at home, just eight months old. After they recovered from the immediate horror, Jim and Sarah felt an overwhelming drive to help other children and families and founded The Murray Parish Trust in 2014. They were awarded MBE’s in the King’s New Years Honours 2025 for services to seriously ill children and their families.
Our charity delivers projects that support the mental health of seriously ill children and their families. We improve access to specialist, imaginative and empowering support, at the earliest possible moment, to prevent long-term mental health difficulties. We do this by delivering a vast range of projects in children’s hospitals, hospices and other health or community settings across the UK. These include drama, dance, art, nature and music therapy; bereavement and mortuary suites, distraction equipment that reduces anxiety, sanctuary and quiet rooms; sibling support; counselling and therapy rooms; and psychological support for children/family members.
The role - Head of Public Fundraising and Operations
This is an exciting new chapter for The Murray Parish Trust. Our new Head of Public Fundraising and Operations will work closely with the Board of Trustees and our Head of Philanthropy and Projects to scale our impact and expand reach nationwide. They will play a pivotal role in leading operations and shaping the charity’s future, as well as leading on growing income from community, corporate, individual fundraising, which have been identified as strategic fundraising priorities.

As Sponsorship and Fundraising Assistant you will successfully contribute to the winning of sponsorship from existing and new clients and managing sponsor and Patron and Benefactor relationships for Hay Festival,UK. The post has a particular focus on generating income from event sponsors locally and regionally, as well as successfully managing the selling of exhibition spaces at Hay Festivals in the UK.
As part of this job you will:
- Cultivate, manage and develop successful relationships with existing and new sponsors, with a focus on relationships up to £5k
- Identify and define on a local, regional and national level new and emerging sponsorship opportunities.
- Develop sponsorship proposals, packages and agreements for sponsors.
- Ensure sponsor requirements are met at our two UK festivals (Hay Festival, Hay-on-Wye and Hay Festival, Winter Weekend) manage complimentary ticket requests
- Ensure sponsors are acknowledged correctly, gathering artwork and sponsor logos for print and web. (Pre-show reel, online and print programme)
- Maintain and update records for correspondence and invoicing
- Generate reports for sponsors
- Help manage and develop Patrons and Benefactors engagement and renewals, including invitations and complimentary tickets. (Book of the Month and Book of the Year mailings)
- Coordinate selection and booking process of exhibitors at Hay Festival Wales (Spring and Winter Weekend
- Identify and approach potential exhibitors to ensure a diverse visitor experience
- Cultivate, build and manage successful relationships with existing and potential new advertisers for print and web
- Maintain advertiser pages on the Hay Festival website.
Salary: £26,540
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week
Pension: 5% employee and 3% employer.

Job Overview
- Responsible for developing and delivering all fundraising events with the support of the Fundraising Events Manager
