Job Title: Freelance Facilitator

Salary: £275 per day (including travel) plus £25 to attend meetings with a school (if required) and £50 for attending half day training or £100 for full day training. Expenses can also be claimed for programme snacks and travel to training.

Power2 is a fast growing and energetic children and young people’s charity that has supported 27,000 young people since 2001.  We are based in the North West of England and London and deliver early-intervention asset-based programmes to children and young people who have mental wellbeing challenges and are disengaged from school and more widely. We are seeking Freelance Programme Facilitators to deliver our programmes in the West Midlands, particularly Walsall and Staffordshire. Supported by our Programme Development Manager with training and resources you will help children and young people who are experiencing vulnerabilities and disadvantages improve their wellbeing, re-engage with school and learning, build networks and access opportunities.

Programme Facilitators work with significant autonomy and authority. They must embrace responsibility and are accountable for their work. They work collaboratively alongside young people, operating as a mentor as they empower young people to develop self-esteem, become resilient and engage with school and their own future. They give each young person the time, the confidence and skills to engage with their education.

You will work in schools and community settings to support young people and their families to ensure that at-risk children and young people make the most of their potential and improve their life chances. Work will include 1:1 support and delivery of Power2’s core programmes.

The Programme Assistant will provide support to the School Partnerships team to help deliver the programme, and will report to the Head of School Partnerships.  The role will include organisation and support for events, drafting and distributing email newsletters, data collection and processing, and other logistical and administrative support across the programme.

This post will have specific responsibility to the School Partnerships team in the first instance. The School Partnerships Programme offers funding and support to groups of schools in England that are committed to enhancing physics teaching and learning. There are approximately 120 school partnerships.

Invitation to Tender – Freelance Energy Consultant 

Hodan is a registered charity providing advice, information and support to the Somali community and other racially minoritized (‘Black and Minority Ethnic’) communities in west London. We run a bilingual English/Somali advice service accredited with the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) that covers a wide range of issues, including welfare benefits, housing, social care, employment, and utility bills. We also offer employability and digital literacy training, non-regulated money guidance (e.g., support with household budgeting), and free ‘Wellbeing and Social Space’ sessions for women.

We have recently been awarded a grant from the Energy Redress Scheme for a new project to support people who are in, or at risk of, fuel poverty. The aim is to help 150 households in west London to access advice on improving the energy efficiency of their homes and applying for relevant financial support. We will implement this project through four key strategies: 

· Home visits to carry out a full energy efficiency audit 

· In-depth energy advice appointments at our North Kensington office 

· Light-touch advice on saving energy, e.g., through stalls at events 

· Telephone conversations, including ‘virtual home visits’ via Zoom / WhatsApp 

We are recruiting a Freelance Energy Consultant to support us with the following aspects of initial project setup: 

1. Creating a simple and accessible checklist for home energy audits, identifying specific outcomes to be achieved by both the assessor and the householder. This will form the basis for our project monitoring and reporting.  
 

2. Developing texts for flyers and other educational materials to inform householders about different ways to save energy, with estimates of the expected monthly savings where possible.

3. Conducting a workshop to train the project team in conducting home energy audits. Project team members will have completed the City and Guilds Level 3 Energy Awareness Certificate by this point, so the workshop should bridge any gaps between formal training and practical competency.

4. Conducting a short workshop with service users to provide information on different energy-saving measures and raise awareness of the project activities. 

Our budget covers four days’ work at a per diem rate of £400. 

The postholder should be available for up to 2.5 days in December 2024 and 1.5 days in January 2025: the specific dates can be arranged at your convenience.

Experience of conducting and/or overseeing home energy audits

Active interest in supporting members of economically disadvantaged communities to reduce fuel poverty (or the risk of it) by improving home energy efficiency

Experience of working with economically disadvantaged communities in a Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) or public sector role as a consultant, volunteer, or employee 

Awareness of racial disparities and commitment to anti-racist practice 

Experience of working to combat racial disparities and/or engaging in anti-racist practice 

Active interest in creating educational resources that are accessible to people whose first language is not English

We are looking for a Finance Consultant for our War on Want Financial Changeover Project.

War on Want is a radical charity, formed over 70 years ago which exists to campaign for action on the root causes of poverty. These are understood to be political, the result of choices made by governments and corporate elites. War on Want’s history has taught that only by educating the public about the root causes of poverty and the solutions needed, alongside them taking collective action together, can we bring about the change needed. 

War on Want works in the UK and globally with in partnership with trade unions and grassroots social movement groups to challenge the structures of poverty and injustice.

The Council of Management of War on Want together with Senior Management team have decided to invest in a financial system upgrade that involves the following:

• Migrating from existing accounting package, Exchequer, to a new accounting package (to be confirmed and chosen with the consultant) with no loss of data.
• Revising the existing chart of accounts, cost code and department codes structure to make it more user-friendly.
• Producing a new more sophisticated template of management accounts that feeds into an accounting system of choice.
• Providing training on the use of new accounting system and writing a manual for different groups of users (capturing key processes and tasks).

The budget for this work will not exceed £15,000 excluding VAT, and includes all related costs and expenses.

About the role

Our moderators manage Facebook groups of up to 18,000 virtual challenge participants. You will be working with some of the biggest names in the sector, supporting them to raise five and six figure sums. 

This role is perfect for skilled fundraisers who can provide excellent supporter care, and is best suited as an additional source of income (the majority of our team are freelancers and consultants). You must be able to begin moderation at 9am (or earlier), wrap up by 9pm and adhere to our sub-three hour response time. 

As a Fundraising Group Moderator, you would be responsible for:

• Becoming the voice of the cause you are representing, adhering to their brand guidelines at all times

• Identifying, escalating and signposting any safeguarding issues

• Managing your own time and work on own initiative

• Responding to all post and queries in under three hours

• Maximising registration conversions and fundraiser activation

THET and CPA work in partnership with 24 Health Partnerships (HPs) across 8 countries to deliver a comprehensive 4.5-million-pound programme to address global antimicrobial resistance. The programme leverages international cooperation between health organisations working across hospital systems to improve the use of and thus conserve the efficacy of the antimicrobials, and strengthen systems of infection prevention and control (IPC), to reduce the frequency that these drugs are used.

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

The aim is for the Evaluation to assess the effectiveness, efficiency, impact, sustainability, and relevance of the CwPAMS2(Commonwealth Partnerships for Antimicrobial Stewardship Programm) programme's activities and outcomes.
The purpose of this consultancy is to conduct an independent external evaluation of the CwPAMS2
programme to:

• Assess the broader impact of the programme across the 8 countries of implementation and the UK.
• Assess the extent to which the programme objectives and expected outcomes in the logframe have been achieved.
• Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the programme’s design and implementation, including grant management.
• Collect case studies for each country
• Identify lessons learned, best practices, and areas for improvement.

Economic Empowerment Evaluation Consultancy

Anticipated timeframe: December 2024 to end of August 2025Location: Remote with in-country work in Malawi, Nairobi,  Kenya and/or Lagos, Nigeria

Sightsavers works with partners in over 30 countries across Africa and South Asia to eliminate avoidable blindness and support the empowerment of people with disabilities to learn, earn and participate equally in society.

Sightsavers’ Empowerment and Inclusion Strategic Framework explains our rights-based approach to social inclusion and our commitment to the progressive mainstreaming of disability throughout our programming. It underpins all our social inclusion work and complements our other global strategies on eye health, education, NTDs and research. The core objectives of the unrestricted portfolio include increasing access to economic empowerment pathways for people with disabilities, removing barriers in market systems, and leveraging initial seed funding to secure larger donor investments.

Purpose

The key purpose of this evaluation is to review and document the experience of implementation from the past two years to inform future strategic decision making. Sightsavers is seeking a Consultancy to conduct a comprehensive evaluation aimed at understanding the models and approaches that demonstrate effective pathways towards inclusive employment, contributing to the evidence and knowledge base of Sightsavers’ economic empowerment portfolio. The evaluation will place a particular emphasis on how the design and delivery of programmes might be enhanced for future programmatic work including a deep dive into two specific project approaches, IT academies and agriculture.

The Consultancy will be expected to evaluate the project level data and materials as well as primary data collected and consider if and how the projects have contributed towards the programme theory of change.

Scope of Work

The Consultancy will evaluate:

• If the purpose of the unrestricted portfolio has been achieved
• What models or approaches demonstrate improvement in economic inclusion of people with disabilities
• What partnership models are effective in providing leadership on inclusive employment
• What prevents or motivates the provision of a full range of products and services by financial institutions to people with disabilities. How we can use this knowledge to drive greater financial inclusion

Timeline

The consultancy is expected to be conducted between December 2024 to end of August 2025.

Sightsavers will welcome expressions of interest from qualified independent evaluators or consultancy companies. An individual or team with members located in the relevant countries (Malawi, Kenya, Nigeria) would be preferred. The Consultancy and team members should have the following core competencies and experience.

Consultancy’s expertise

• Depth of knowledge conducting evaluations of economic empowerment programmes
• Previous experience working in West and East African countries, particularly Malawi, Kenya and/or Nigeria
• A proven track record of working on disability inclusion
• Previous experience developing and evaluating Theories of Change
• Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods
• Ability to conduct comprehensive desktop summaries and case studies
• First class production of high-quality evaluation reports
• Understanding of the labour markets, socio-economic and cultural contexts of the programme countries
• Understanding of issues related to people with disabilities
• Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and reporting
• Flexibility to conduct required data collection in Malawi, Kenya and/or Nigeria

A consultancy with a proven track record in the above will be procured to undertake the project through an expression of interest process.

The programme Manager (maternity cover) will play an important role in supporting the implementation of Good Neighbours UK (GNUK)’s strategy and ensuring that projects led by GNUK and implemented by field countries are managed effectively and efficiently. They will also play in important role in designing new projects. 

Excellent writing and verbal communications skills are critical for this role. Key to its success is the ability to develop and maintain good relationships with funders, partner organisations and other Good Neighbors alliance members.

This is a full-time fixed term maternity cover role for 8 months starting in January 2025. We will consider applications from individuals interested in a freelance contract.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Project management

• Support GNUK’s fundraising team to prepare funding proposals for UK and overseas projects.

o Undertake field/needs assessments for projects.

o Ensure programmes and finance teams in implementing partners are working together to develop budgets and logframes in a timely manner for funding proposals and advise on multi-project cost effective strategies to cover country budgets.

o Manage due diligence and MoUs with implementing partners

• Manage the implementation and monitoring of overseas projects ensuring project activity plans and risk registers are in place, monitor activity progress, review field country financial and narrative reports, and track key milestone information.

• Ensure compliance with internal finance, accounting, procurement policies and procedures.

• Support and build the capacity building of field country grants and programmes staff in all aspects of project cycle management.

• Liaise with external organisations (NGOs, community groups, researchers and consultants) to deliver GNUK’s projects.

• Monitor project budgets and expenditure.

• Prepare periodic narrative and financial reports for GNUK and donors.

• Undertake periodic field visits for purpose of monitoring projects.

• Ensure project exit plans are in place and closure of projects in keeping with donors contracts.

Programme development:

• Contribute to the development of GNUK’s mid to long term strategy, 3-year business plan and annual work plans.

• Participate in GNUK’s annual budget development process.

• Support the implementation and monitoring of GNUK’s programme activities.

• Keep up to date on external changes to the economic, social and political context in the UK that could impact GNUK’s work.

• Support the organisational risk management process.

• Support the rollout of GNUK’s marketing/communications strategy.

• Liaise with GPC on project implementation and programming requests

• Prepare periodic reports for GPC and donors.

Safeguarding

• Ensure the role of Safeguarding focal point for GNUK

• Prepare GNUK’s annual safeguarding reports

• Support GN field countries and GNUK partners to develop and put in place safeguarding policies and procedures.

• Oversee the adoption and application of GNUK’s safeguarding policy in projects.

• Promote and adhere to all GNUK’s policies, procedures.

We are looking to recruit an organised, proactive and enthusiastic Company Manager to play a pivotal role at the heart of Creative Recovery, Barnsley’s leading arts and mental health charity.

Creative Recovery uses the arts and creativity to support mental health and recovery, boost well-being, build community and bring about social change.  

The Company Manager is an exciting new position, which will provide essential organisational and administrative management within our organisation: ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day activity, particularly programme and building management, employing efficient systems and processes.The Company Manager will be at the heart of the dynamic growth of our work with communities and partners across Barnsley over the next three years and beyond.

About the role  

Reporting to Arts Development Director

Term Part-time (21 hours per week), 3-year fixed term contract (with potential for renewal, subject to funding)

The usual hours of work will be within the envelope 9am-5pm Monday to Friday with occasional evening and weekend work. The specific days/times to be worked will be agreed by negotiation with the successful candidate.

Location Prospect House, Prospect Street, Barnsley, S70 2NR. This will be the primary location of work, with regular travel to venues across Barnsley routinely required along with further travel to conferences etc.

We are delighted to introduce this job opportunity at the Culture Trust Luton for a 0.5 Project Manager. Through a successful funding application to The National Lottery Heritage Fund, we have been awarded £177,513 funding to deliver a Resilience project called ‘Reconnect’. This multi-faceted project explores the Trust’s customer services, sites and operations. There is also funding to deliver events and consultations as well as creative activities to promote engagement and volunteering. The Project also has a budget for making operational improvements that have been identified through the project.

We seek an experienced Project Manager to draw together the delivery of this project, coordinate specialist consultants, creatives and community groups and work with the Culture Trust Team on exploring and embedding change.We are a progressive, Luton-based, arts and cultural charity with a mission to connect communities through culture and creativity. We welcome 250,000 people across the year to our stunning heritage sites; the Hat Factory Arts Centre, Hat District creative workspaces, Wardown House Museum and Gallery, and Stockwood Discovery Centre. The Reconnect Project will work across all our functions, but there will be a particular focus on Stockwood Discovery Centre for community activities and volunteering. 

You will be a creative teacher, or former teacher, who is excited to turn the biggest issues in the news into engaging lessons for 10- to 16-year olds, with a particular focus on our bespoke projects and events. You’ll research global topics and consider the best angles and innovative activities.This material will build children’s knowledge about the news and the essential skills they need to make sense of it, through discussion-based activities.

You’ll be responsible for overseeing production of our world-class lessons, live events and Festival resources, with help from a supportive, collaborative team and a wealth of journalistic expertise from across The Economist Group. You’ll be a driven, collaborative manager, able to coordinate a variety of stakeholders including freelance collaborators and internal volunteers, and manage our core content team of Designer and Educational Content Lead.

You will manage projects that help develop the content we offer to schools globally. From implementing AI to unlocking the power of translation, you’ll ensure projects are managed effectively, meet deadlines and keep to budget. You’ll work with the leadership team to monitor and evaluate the success of these projects and scope new areas for growth.

Hours: Full time with flexible hours. Core hours are 10am to 4pm. 
Contract type: fixed term maternity cover May 2025 – May 2026
Location: Hybrid. Central London two days per week (Wednesdays and Thursdays) and remote working.
Salary: £45,000 per annum
