The role of Senior Management Accountant
Overview
As Senior Management Accountant at Calvert Exmoor you will be required to reduce the complexity of and deliver accurate financial reporting, supply information to relevant financial bodies, assist the Finance Manager with streamlining existing processes and ensure that the finance function can continue to run effectively at all times.
Key responsibilities
- To oversee the production and audit of the Annual Financial Statements
- To assist the Centre Director wherever possible in ensuring compliance with all financial bodies.
- To oversee and support the preparation of the annual and monthly budgets and forecasts.
- To deliver change management through the finance function, including system processes and methodology to streamline the function and eliminate any inefficiencies.
- To work with the Finance Manager and income generating teams to ensure that the routine reporting system is automated wherever possible.
- Develop and monitor financial performance through KPIs and forward-looking reporting.
- To review reports where appropriate, comment on performance against budget and provide explanation for variances and recommendations where possible.
- To coordinate and be a key point of contact amongst with regards to all aspects of insurance.
- Deliver ad hoc financial modelling.
- To have sufficient knowledge of the day-to-day systems and processes to be able to stand in for the Finance Manager for short periods.
- Lead and manage the Finance Manager including regular performance and development reviews.
What you will need
- CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent or qualified by experience to the higher level

We're looking for a Community Fundraising Manager - it's a great opportunity to develop a plan and deliver a diverse portfolio of fundraising activities to engage people with our work and contribute to our income.
You will manage a team to help develop innovative fundraising products, grow our supporter base and provide exceptional supporter stewardship.
Income generation
- Responsible for supporting the development of a 3-year community fundraising income strategy to grow income from a modest base of £125k per year to circa £275k per year.
- Implement the operational plan for community fundraising income.
- Plan, develop and deliver new community fundraising products, campaigns and events that will resonate with stakeholders including members, donors and volunteers to fundraise.
- Work collaboratively with Comms, Marketing & Digital teams to develop and drive forward promotion of community fundraising to reach existing and new audiences, including developing content for social channels, e-comms, webpages and fundraising packs.
- Establish a network of community fundraisers, building relationships with community fundraising ‘champions’, and providing excellent supporter care and timely communication.
- Evaluate community fundraising projects regularly and make changes when necessary.
Leadership, management and collaboration
- Lead the community fundraising programme in line with Marine Conservation Society values and organisational culture.
- Contribute to fundraising cross-team planning and strategy development.
- Line management of 2 part-time Community Fundraising support roles with responsibility for operational delivery of their fundraising plans and performance management including, 1-2-1 meetings, appraisals, day-day performance management against KPI’s, motivation and objective setting.
- Build collaborative relationships with peers across the charity.
Governance & reporting
- Manage the overall budget for community fundraising, including monitoring of income and expenditure against budget.
- Setting, measuring, and reporting against agreed KPIs
- Ensure the Community Fundraising team are accurately recording the receipt of donations and gifts received from supporters.
- Ensure accurate financial and CRM supporter records are maintained and accessible.
- Ensure all relationships comply with relevant charity law, GDPR requirements and the charity’s Ethical Fundraising Policy.
- Work with our Data Manager, Head of Marketing, and the Fundraising team to ensure the CRM database holds key, relevant profile information on supporters.
- Attend department and organisational meetings reporting on team related matters as required and cascading organisational priorities as appropriate.
Knowledge and experience (what you’ll know)

- A track record in community fundraising or similar, with the ability to demonstrate success in meeting financial targets and income growth.
- Can demonstrate your experience of supporting the development of 3-5 year strategic plans
- Experience of developing and leading on annual operating plans in line with strategic goals.
- Can show your line management experience, including knowledge of successfully developing and motivating a team.
- Can successfully set and manage multi-year budgets.
- Good knowledge of and experience of working with CRM databases including the collection and storage of data in line with GDPR.

Job Purpose:
Pelican Parcels has grown from supporting 500 children in our first year, to now helping over 5,700 annually. We have been able to grow at this incredible rate due to the amazing people and organisations across Brighton and Hove. Our fundraising pipeline is overflowing, and our network of supporters continues to grow each year.
We now need to bring in an enthusiastic fundraiser to work alongside our experienced volunteers and trustees, helping us strengthen and grow these relationships.
The Fundraising Manager will implement our fundraising plan. We have been successful in securing all funds needed for 2024/25, so this role will:

PELICAN PARCELS FUNDRAISING MANAGER
Role: Fundraising Manager
Reports to: Shelley Bennett, Co-Founder & Trustee
Contract: Permanent. PAYE.
Salary: £21,000 per annum (£35,000 FTE)
Holidays: pro rata 20 days annually plus bank holidays, plus Christmas office closure e.g., in 2025 this will be an extra 4 days
Review Period: 3 months Notice Period: 2 months
Location: This role will work in a hybrid way. We are based in a warehouse in the centre of Hove, next to Hove Station and expect you to be able to come to the office once a week.
Hours: part-time 3 days a week. We are flexible about working patterns within the week (agreed 1 month in advance). There will be the possibility of working outside standard hours when agreed in advance e.g. open warehouse event, donor cultivation, community fundraising events.

ABOUT US
Pelican Parcels (PP) works in Brighton & Hove to recycle pre-loved essential items for babies and primary school aged children. We take them from families who no longer need them and give them to those who do. We are the only baby bank in the city. In 5 years, we have supported over 20,000 children aged 0-12 as well as pregnant mothers, reflecting the high level of need and deprivation in our city.
In 2023 our 5,774 parcels (an increase of 136% in the last 3 years)

Beds: we give out moses baskets, cots & single beds, blanket & sleeping bag sets & bedding bundles. We are giving out over 5 beds a week.

Books: in November we began supporting nurseries to give out books to pre-school children, supplying 248 books.
We collect items, receive referrals and distribute them to those in need

Collect: We have regular open sessions where people drop off items. Our 29 volunteers sort and organise donations ready for redistribution.

Referral: Once referrals and requests for items are received from partners, our volunteers process and package them.

Distribution: Our parcels are distributed by our partners at scheduled visits, through children's centres, foodbanks, schools and charity networks. Partners collect the parcels from our warehouse or we take them to their places of work.

Our Fundraising Plans
Funding has been achieved so far from diverse sources including Brighton and Hove City Council, individuals (from a few pounds to thousands), a range of trusts and foundations and companies.
We now wish to grow our fundraising programme in response to the demand we are seeing to help more families.
Our income has continued to grow. In 2022/2023 income was £90k, up from £38k in just 2 years. We raised £190k in 2023/2024 and have already raised over £220k for 2024/25.
We know we need to continue to grow to meet demand for our service. We need a bigger warehouse (we have plans to move in early 2025) and additional staff soon afterwards. We have built up reserves to support 3 months of operations costs and the warehouse move of £117k.
We plan to grow our turnover to £250k by 2026/2027. We have already secured 25% of what is needed for 25/26 and 20% for 26/27.
ROLE BACKGROUND
Our trustees Carla Pannett and Lucy Stone take the lead on fundraising for the Charity. Carla and Lucy will continue to support this work and role.
Lucy leads on Trusts and Foundation relationships alongside Brighton and Hove City Council funding applications. We feel confident with our level of work and growth in these areas. We have a number of multiple year funders confirmed, a range of funders who fund annually following applications and a pipeline of new trusts.
Carla leads on corporate partnerships, individual giving, community and events fundraising. We believe there is more growth possible here which is why the role will focus heavily in these areas. One-off and regular donations continue to be made.
We have just completed a crowdfunding campaign in August 2024. £42,198 + Gift Aid (so far) has been raised during the ‘Children in Brighton & Hove need your help’ crowdfunder. It has been a smashing success due to 192 supporters, raising our profile across the city and beyond. This was a mix of trusts and foundation, individual and corporate giving. We want to ensure that we make the most of relationships developed during the crowdfunder.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Principal Accountabilities

Work closely with Pelican Parcels’ Co-founder Shelley Bennett, our Head of Operations, volunteers and Board of Trustees to maintain and create an engaging fundraising programme.

Represent Pelican Parcels at appropriate meetings and events.

Support Pelican Parcels to secure budget-relieving in-kind support.

Draft, design and produce bespoke fundraising applications, resources and reports.

Individual, community and company giving

We are delighted to be partnering with The St Martin-in-the-Fields Trust who are looking for a Trusts and Foundations Manager to increase levels of engagement, interest and financial support from trusts and charitable foundations for the St Martin-in-the-Fields Trust.
St Martins is an iconic 300 year old church in Trafalgar Square in London, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, and The St Martin-in-the-Fields Trust exists solely to raise money to support the costs of maintaining and conserving the historic buildings, for developing new faith based initiatives and projects to support homeless people in London and for the advancement of their world class music programmes across the globe.
In this pivotal role, the new Trusts and Foundations Manager will focus on securing gifts through applications to trusts, foundations, livery companies and statutory funders.
Primarily responsible for the management of an existing pipeline of a diverse pool of trusts and foundations, both existing and prospective, you will maximise philanthropic support for St Martin-in-the-Fields and its Trust. You will have:

About you

About the role
This role sits within CARE International UK’s Individual Giving team, but you’ll work across the entire Fundraising and Comms department.
Along with your team of three, you will play a vital role in support fundraising teams to better understand their audiences and target their communications. You’ll need to be comfortable with change, as this role requires the postholder to design, scope and implement significant improvements to processes and technology to ensure our data and reporting practices are efficient, accurate and fit for the future.

IFAW pursues a multipronged strategy to tackle wildlife cybercrime that includes working with policymakers, law enforcement agencies, the private sector, civil society organisations, and the general public in order to disrupt the ability of criminals to use the internet and its support systems for the trafficking of wildlife throughout the supply chain. By reducing incentives to participate in the illegal wildlife trade, IFAW improves the conservation status of wildlife in priority habitats and the welfare of individual animals while supporting the development of international best practices in a large, complex and constantly evolving sector.
The Program Manager, Wildlife Cybercrime will lead IFAW’s sub-program focusing on wildlife cybercrime and deliver its strategy, under the Wildlife Crime strategy. The position will contribute to IFAW remaining a recognised leader and convener in this field and strengthening IFAW conservation programs’ impacts as well as programs implemented by governments, NGOs or other organisations, such as the Coalition to end wildlife trafficking online. The position will provide support to program and country project managers and staff and will be responsible for ensuring both internal and external projects are implemented in compliance with the highest standards and are in line with IFAW internal procedures and with those of any external funding partners.
In recognition that this is a niche and growth area for IFAW, the Program Manager, Wildlife Cybercrime will actively participate in the identification and winning of new funding opportunities and in generating and participating in connections with other potential funders or supporters as required.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage IFAW’s sub-program focusing on wildlife cybercrime, including but not limited to developing and implementing strategies, contributing and reporting against IFAW programmatic objectives, expanding and strengthening external networks, coordinating cross-regional work, and managing and delivering both internal and external projects to a high standard, according to work plans and institutional strategies, on time and within budget.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- BS/BA degree preferred. MS/MA degree in biological, social science, public policy, economics, forensic science, criminology or related field ideal.
- High level of professionalism – the mix of dependability, initiative, industry, and ability to make sound judgments within agreed guidelines that will earn respect and achieve success in chaotic, fast-moving, and high-pressure environments. Ability to both work unsupervised and as part of a team, as well as manage and mentor a team, including without direct authority, to meet deadlines and deal with a demanding and complex workload, and flexible working hours.
- Demonstrated experience leading a dispersed team and influencing activities without direct management authority. Preferred minimum of 5 years of working experience in project management.

As Grants Manager you will work closely with a portfolio of implementation partners that the Better Cotton GIF funds. Collaborate with Better Cotton GIF team to manage GIF grant-making workflow and calendar, including:

As an experienced and qualified CIMA Accountant, you will provide the charity with proven Business Partnering with Management Accounting experience skills, including BI reporting, stakeholder management and risk mitigation work. You will work as part of a small, dedicated team responsible for the effective management and control of the financial functioning of a medium sized dynamic Charity. This is a pivotal role leading the financial outcomes, which will directly support senior leadership and top-level decision making and closely partner an array of key non-finance colleagues across the charity and its trading company.

The purpose of this role is to work with the CEO and Senior Leadership Group to ensure the smooth running of the organisation – people, finance, and workplace; to support the delivery of the Centre’s activities and provide PA support to the Director and Senior Management. A key part of the role will be to lead on regular financial and operational systems.
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Key responsibilities include:
Operations and Governance

Identify, design and implement new processes to more effectively manage the organisation’s administration

Lead on the day-to-day facilities coordination, general office housekeeping, health and safety

Lead on organisational IT and data security - maintaining the shared document storage systems, and liaising with IT service providers.

Oversee meeting agendas and minutes (for the team, committees and the Trustee Board)

Provide diary management and PA support to the Chief Executive and the Senior Leadership Group, and assist with governance.

Provide assistance for recruitments.

Lead on the onboarding and induction of new staff, assisting with payroll and arranging staff benefits.

Respond to general enquiries and provide general administration and ad hoc project support as required.
Finance
-
Lead on the day to day book keeping to maintain accurate financial records.

Raise invoices, tracking income and chasing payments from funders.

Arrange payments of bills, processing expenses and being the primary contact with suppliers.

Lead on the production of monthly management accounts and project reporting, end of project wash ups and assisting with annual accounts.

Help to prepare financial reports for the trustee board and funders.

Supporting the production and tracking of the organisational budget.
Leadership

Support SLG in the development and implementation of business planning, organisational strategy and a clear narrative for Centre for London.

Support SLG to identify and lead change or improvement across the organisation.

Maintain a team and organisational culture that attracts and retains talent.

Grow the Centre’s network of speakers, advisory group members, and supporters to ensure we meet or exceed our diversity targets.
General responsibilities and duties

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Marketing Manager to join the Fundraising, Marketing & Communications team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity on a six-month contract. This role will support the Head of Marketing & Brand to deliver impactful, integrated marketing and brand activations with great results.
You will work on strategies and campaigns that serve the objectives of all areas within SSAFA, so your expertise will help raise awareness of crucial services, recruit volunteers, support fundraising initiatives and promote understanding of SSAFA’s work. Most notably you will develop the strategic approach and activation of a new brand proposition in the Autumn. This is an incredibly important piece of work for the charity, so the role will suit somebody with experience in driving a brand previously.
You will work collaboratively and creatively with colleagues across the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications directorate, taking briefs and translating them into finalised marketing activations. Alongside the Head of Marketing & Brand you will work closely with the rest of the team, particularly the Senior Marketing Officer.
About the team
You will be joining a well-established team of marcomms professionals, ranging from designers to case study managers and social media experts. You will have plenty of opportunity to interact with other internal departments, such as Fundraising or members of the volunteer network.
About you
To hit the ground running and carry out this role successfully you will have:
- Demonstrable experience managing marketing or brand strategies and campaigns that achieve engagement or brand visibility metrics.
- Experience of managing projects with several internal stakeholders working with either agency or in-house delivery teams.
- The ability to interrogate and understand a brief in order to develop multi-channel campaign plans and co-ordinate the creation of compelling content and collateral that resonates with audiences.
- Experience of co-ordinating post-campaign analysis reports in order to communicate achievements and performance to relevant internal stakeholders.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines as needed.
- Experience of working in a commercial, public or not-for-profit organisation would be beneficial.
You will be proactive and able to work with large numbers of stakeholders from across SSAFA, with great interpersonal and influencing skills. You are the type of person who enjoys working collaboratively and always wants to achieve the best outcome for different audiences.
