About us
Who we are
The Marine Conservation Society is the UK's leading marine charity by and for ocean lovers. We work towards our vision of a sea full of life, where nature flourishes and people thrive.
The Marine Conservation Society was founded in the United Kingdom in 1977 by a group of scientists, divers, and environmentalists that were growing increasingly concerned by the degradation of marine habitats and its wildlife.
Ever since its initial beginnings, The Marine Conservation Society has placed community involvement and educational outreach at the heart of the non-profit organisation when campaigning for the protection of marine environments.
Our culture and values
Our values
We work to protect our ocean, and all that depend on it, the wildlife, the people, and now, our planet. We are looking for people who demonstrate our values, but who also contribute their own perspectives and experiences to add to our knowledge and our culture.
• We are brave
• We have integrity
• We are a community
• We are credible
• We are positive
• We are solutions focused
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We also value who you are, and what you bring that makes you able to do your very best work. We work to our values, but welcome diversity of thought, of experience, and background. Equity, diversity and inclusion are part of everything that we do.
We welcome applications from all sections of the community, particularly those that are under-represented in environmental and charity sectors.
