Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) exists so nobody in Scotland suffers or dies because medical help cannot get there in time.

People can get sick or have accidents anywhere and anytime. But in Scotland there are places where urgent medical help cannot reach people. Or help gets there too late. And when lives are at risk every minute matters.

As a charity we rely on donations from the Scottish public, companies and communities to ensure that urgent medical help gets to the patient when it is needed, wherever they are and at whatever time of day.

SCAA is seeking to appoint an experienced, qualified, professional Finance Manager with strong analytical skills, capable of producing and presenting financial information in a succinct and straightforward manner. The preferred candidate will have experience of producing management accounts and other management information relating to organisational performance, cashflow, investment reporting and budget analysis.

Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The appointed individual will be expected to liaise effectively with colleagues, Executive Team Members, Trustees and other colleagues within the Charity. They will also develop and strengthen relationships with banks, insurers, investment managers, auditors and other professionals. The person will be expected to produce and present a range of financial information, query and challenge any unusual and misleading information and to support his/her colleagues in the office as required to further the objectives of the charity.

This is a growing charity, and you will have a broad remit, and we are looking for a fully Qualified Accountant holding a CA, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent membership with experience ideally gained in charity accounting, external reporting and internal management accounting.

The successful candidate is likely to be operating in a similar role in the Private, Public or Third sectors and looking for a new challenge.

The Finance Manager will join a small and dynamic team that covers Finance, Human Resources, IT and Business Operations. The Finance & Operations team play a critical role by running the day-to-day operations and providing the infrastructure that enables the continued delivery of the Trust’s mission and objectives.

The Sutton Trust is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Finance Manager to join the team and provide crucial support on a range of key finance functions. This is an exciting time to join the team as we are looking to improve process efficiencies and assess the use of technology within the team.

This a varied and hands-on role that requires a strong understanding of charity accounting (particularly funds), excellent problem-solving skills and initiative. You can expect a steep learning curve and fast-paced work in a passionate and supportive environment

Main duties

• Cash management and cashflow forecasting; monitoring and reporting on the Trust’s investment portfolios
• Approval of payment runs in line with approval matrix
• Supporting the Director of Finance & Operations with annual budget setting and leading on quarterly reforecasting cycles
• Building and maintaining relationships with budget holders and members of senior leadership to help them understand budgets and financial statements and support them with their day-to-day budget management and finance needs
• Preparing quarterly management accounts, and other financial modelling as required
• Supporting the Development Team with funding applications, and grant / funder reporting
• Ensuring compliance with funder restrictions and requirements
• Preparing VAT returns, submitting returns to HMRC and providing VAT advice, as required
• Overseeing the Finance Officer’s work and providing cover for leave including sales and purchase ledger, month end, payroll, pension and staff benefit administration as well as the administration of Gift Aid and legacy income.
• Preparing annual accounts and year-end schedules, working closely with the Director of Finance & Operations and external auditors
• Supporting the Director of Finance & Operations to ensure there is an effective system of financial controls
• Line managing, motivating and proactively supporting the Finance Officer in their professional development
• Proactively updating your own knowledge in relation to the role, identifying and undertaking appropriate training
• Keeping up to date with legislation, policies and procedures relevant to the role and the Trust’s work
• Other duties as necessary from time to time

Skills and Experience

We welcome applications from individuals who have experience in:

• A hands-on, generalist finance role with strong experience of a wide variety of finance processes
• Producing monthly or quarterly management accounts and providing suitable narrative as required
• Supporting or leading on aspects of the year-end processes and/ or the annual audit, including producing year-end schedules, accounts and liaising with the auditors
• Setting up and maintaining forecasting templates, including for cashflow purposes
• Improving financial controls and processes, and using technology or automation to improve efficiencies
• Working with and supporting non-finance staff with their day-to-day budget management including the provision of training
• Managing and supporting junior finance staff
• Working in the education or not-for-profit sector (desirable)
• Working with Quickbooks or a similar accounting software (desirable)

Who can demonstrate:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

And who is:

• A qualified accountant with post qualification experience, or equivalent demonstrable work experience

Terms of Appointment

• Contract: Full-time, Permanent (part-time considered)
• Salary: £45,000-£50,000
• Office location: The Sutton Trust, 9th Floor, Millbank Tower, 21-24 Millbank, London, SW1P 4QP. Our home working policy gives staff the option to work from home for up to 60% of the time, with approval from their line manager.
• Hours: The standard working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and may also be required to attend events / meetings outside of their normal working hours during weekday evenings and occasionally at weekends

Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership

• Lead and mentor a small finance team, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement, ensuring the day-to-day smooth efficient running of the finance function.
• Contribute to strategy development and implementation as part of the wider SLT.
• Work closely with the CEO, Deputy CEO and Board of Trustees to facilitate good governance and risk management, including attendance at the monthly Finance Sub-Committee.
• Manage, maintain and develop financial systems and controls, increasing their impact and quality and implementing best practices in financial management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements (e.g. Charity Commission, HMRC).
• Ensure FSSW fulfils its legal and regulatory requirements around GDPR.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including our Auditor and peers across the FareShare network.
•  Act as a local ambassador for FSSW.

Finance Operations Management

• Undertake the day-to-day bookkeeping (Xero, Dext, ApprovalMax) including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank, payroll, banking, and general ledger maintenance.
• Manage the staff payroll and pension process, monthly HMRC reporting and payments, including monitoring of VAT, tax, and gift aid, and prepare required returns.
• Lead on procurement practices, including relationship management of key suppliers such as insurance, utilities, IT providers to ensure best value for money.
• Petty cash controls across all FSSW sites.
• Debtor management, including liaising with internal membership account managers. 
• Other finance administration activities as required.

Monitoring and Reporting

• Manage all aspects of the financial cycle, including budgeting, forecasting, fixed asset management, reserves management and financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting commentary for presentation to SLT and Trustees. 
• Provide insightful financial analysis and reporting to inform and support decision-making and funding applications across the organisation, including quarterly reviews.
• Prepare year end accounts to trial balance and lead the annual audit process.
• Ensure Restricted Funds are allocated correctly and assist with the monitoring of their budgets and cash flow in conjunction with the SLT.
• Assist the Deputy CEO to collate relevant evidence e.g. invoices for grant monitoring and reporting.
• Ensure day-to-day management of IT and data protection.
• Complete administration duties such as filing to Charity Commission and Companies House as directed to comply with statutory reporting requirements.

General

• Respond to communications via telephone, email, in person or via inhouse IT/systems. 
• Be willing to receive and engage positively with any visitors to the warehouse and office space.
• Support FSSW events.
• Carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in support of the main purpose of the role, including liaising with the wider FSSW team. 
• Uphold high quality customer care and standards of conduct when dealing with all stakeholders and the public.

Person Specification

• Full/part qualified accountant (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA or equivalent)

The Finance Manager role is a newly created role which is being introduced to strengthen the organisation’s financial management and control systems. The postholder will work across the breadth of the finance function preparing internal management accounts and external annual accounts.

In 2024, Cord changed its finance system to use Business Central. The Finance Manager will become the organisation’s main ‘admin’ user of the finance system. In the near-term, there will be a particular focus on rolling out further functionality of the system.

St Peter’s Charity is a small Charity founded in 1861. Once an order of Anglican religious sisters running hospitals, today the Charity runs St Columba’s House Christian retreat and conference centre and a small grant making trust. We are based in Woking, Surrey.

A part time Finance Manager is needed to cover all the finance and accounting functions within the Charity from payroll to producing monthly management accounts and presenting reports at Trustee meetings. • Part qualified Accountant or qualified by experience

FINANCE MANAGER

Contract: Permanent
Hours: Part-time (up to 28 hours per week, to be agreed). Additional hours may sometimes be required and can be taken as Time Off In Lieu (TOIL).

The charity’s Finance Manager will slot into the Corporate Services Directorate, working with the Director of Finance (Deputy CEO) to build on the great work of the Interim Finance Project Manager.

The postholder will have the opportunity to drive improvements and efficiencies across our core finance and IT operations. The postholder will help the charity collate, analyse and present its increasingly complex KPIs and data.

For the UKs largest not-for-profit social enterprise in the employment and social mobility sector, we are recruiting a Finance Manager. This role will provide high quality financial information and analysis to stakeholders, supporting decision-making. Main Duties:

• Partner with stakeholders ensuring robust business plans and financial targets are achieved

Terms

The role will be based in our office in Eastcote for 3 days per week, with the possibility for home working for the remainder of the time.

Salary:  c. £41k FTE.  Note the salary listed is a full time equivalent salary based on 35hrs per week, so actual salary will vary depending on hours agreed.

Hours: Part time 21-28hours per week to suit the candidate. Reduced hours available in the school holidays if desired

Job Summary

CAAS provide an ADHD and Autism Support Service for the 8 boroughs of NW London, from our base in Eastcote, with a team of Support Workers. Our work includes offering information, advice, and support to ADHD / autistic people, their families, and professionals in NW London, with the aim of improving quality of life and developing neurodiverse-aware communities. Some of the support is offered through one2one meetings, some of the support is provided through groups and courses which aim to increase understanding and awareness, and provide opportunities for peer support, and some of the support is offered through training and workshops to educate professionals and drive for accommodations to be made to services to allow greater access for our client group.

As Finance Manager you will report to and work closely with the Finance Director and have responsibility for the operational delivery of the finance, resource, monitoring, HR and contracting work streams within the charity. The role sits within the management group at CAAS, alongside the Youth, Adult and Family Service managers and the Client Programmes Director and manages the Finance and Monitoring Assistant and the Office Assistant.

The Finance Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the infrastructure and operational delivery at the charity are effective for the more than 30 staff we employ, and the more than 11,000 instances of support we provide each year. Therefore, we are looking for a capable, calm, self-motivated, organised and hard-working accountant who is looking to move into a senior finance role, from any commercial, statutory or charitable background.

The role requires strong organisation skills, excellent communication skills, experience of management accounting and reporting, and an understanding of HR and payroll operations. You will ideally have some line management or project management experience to draw on in this role. Ultimately you will have the drive to ensure that everyone who works for us, and everyone who seeks support from us, has the best possible experience.

There is no requirement for any experience of, or understanding of ADHD / autistic individuals, as we will provide training on the conditions. A genuine acceptance of diversity and a keenness to make an impact are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning, Management and Reporting

· Prepare accurate, timely and well controlled and documented monthly and quarterly accounts. Share the outcomes of your reviews with the Finance Director, and ensure the accounts are reported in an meaningful way.

· Support in the preparation of Trustee reporting

· Support in the preparation and audit of the annual statutory accounts.

· Support with the annual budget and periodic reforecast processes to ensure the timely and appropriate provision of information to facilitate necessary adjustments to operational activity and appropriate decision making around cash investments.

· Ensure processes and procedures are carried out on a timely and effective basis to ensure financial policies and procedures are adhered to, and any control weaknesses mitigated and improvement plans in place

· Maintain records to ensure accurate restricted and unrestricted fund allocation.

· Be accountable for operating effective controls and oversight regarding contracts with freelancers, volunteers or other suppliers

· Deliver all day-to-day finance and cash management operations, scheduling, tracking and fulfilling invoices and payments, providing accurate bookkeeping, approving payment runs and reconciled balance sheets, detailed records re credit card and other payment platforms, and generally work to use and improve the financial systems in place to ensure the charity’s overall stability and sustainability.

· Review and update funder schedule allocations, ensuring invoices raised on time and costs allocated correctly.

· Review and approve Customer and Supplier invoices, review of month end information from finance team. Creation and posting of month end journals, reviewing the month end accounts to budget and analysing any discrepancies.

· Supporting the Finance Director and CEO on adhoc reports or analysis

· As a member of the management group participate in cross team working meetings and management meetings, and build relationships with the other members of the management group such that you become an integral support resource to them as they deliver for our clients.

Resource & IT Management

· Hold responsibility for arranging and maintaining the charity IT and phone hardware and software

· Act as first line IT support for charity staff

· Hold the relationship with the external IT provider and liaise to ensure appropriate on and off boarding and security arrangements.

· Manage our internal personnel and H&S support programmes, such as our EAP provider, our training providers and our office maintenance systems.

· Maintain the charity asset register, and complete the necessary operational tasks to ensure the charity is appropriately resourced to provide effective infrastructure backdrop for our staff.

Monitoring Management, Reporting and Impact Evaluation

· Carry out the necessary regular reviews and support so that our CRM records are complete and accurate in respect of work performed, and prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly and annual monitoring reports internally.

· Prepare monitoring reports for funders on quarterly basis as and when required

· Ensure best practice in monitoring collection and evaluation, including managing GDPR processes, creating appropriate forms, and communicating deadlines and requirements to all staff.

· Operate as the internal first line of support for our CRM system and consequent monitoring reporting tools, to ensure they are accurate, regularly reviewed and procedures documented and continuously improved.

· Prepare impact and distance travelled statistics for our external communications, to support our fundraising efforts.

HR and Payroll Operations

· Deliver on the necessary onboarding and offboarding processes for staff, including complying with on our safer recruitment requirements, creating contracts and contract variation letters, supporting staff with timesheets and other records of work, carrying out pension operations and supporting with interview arrangements.

· Carry out the delivery of the monthly payroll process, including preparation and review of the payroll files, carrying out calculations around overtime pay etc, providing an accurate and well controlled process, and enabling payments to be made on the pay date each month. Processing the payroll journals on a monthly basis

· Fully qualified accountant: eg ACA, ACCA, CIMA, with proven financial management knowledge and experience
