Job description

We provide service across Humberside which will provide a single point of contact for victims of all crime, whether or not they have reported to the police. It will be a busy and fast paced hub.We are now looking for a dedicated, passionate and empathic person.

About the role:
As the CYP Caseworker, you will provide advocacy and support to children and young people affected by the impact of crime. This casework will often also involve supporting parents or guardians.
You will work with children and young people who have experienced or witnessed crime and you will be the single point of contact for them.
You will work with other agencies to provide a service that supports the individual through the criminal justice system, or works with them whether they decide to report the crime or not.
As a Caseworker, you will;

receive incoming referrals from a range of sources including the police, other agencies and individuals themselves
assess needs and risks, and agree action plans
work on our case management system to update case notes, manage and record information
give up to date and consistent information about the criminal justice system process
liaise with other agencies where required to provide advocacy for the service user, work in a multi-agency set up, give and receive information with consent
support the child or young person and their wider family
work with criminal justice system agencies to ensure a trauma informed and victim friendly response
promote the service at events and meetings where directed or required
work with the wider ABC team
ensure that you are aware of and up to date with safeguarding and data policy and processes and able to identify where there are risks

You will be a confident, compassionate and empathic person who can work well under pressure. You will be speaking to people in a trauma informed way and will need to be composed, empathic and be able to quickly assess situations.

Whilst the role is homebased, we offer an outreach and face to face service with the Caseworker being required to travel within Humberside to respond to victim need and service requirements. For this reason, you need to live within Humberside, or a reasonable distance of Humberside, to allow you to fulfil the needs of our service and victims.
You will be confident in using your IT skills to work on a case management system, access phone and online systems, email and Microsoft Office programmes.

This role is initially for a fixed term period, ending on 31st March 2025 to cover a secondment.
