Horatio’s Garden is a nationwide charity creating and nurturing beautifully designed gardens in NHS spinal injury centres. We are seeking a friendly, organised and energetic person with a warm and welcoming manner for the new role of Garden Coordinator.

The Garden Coordinator will join a team of several other dedicated staff across the charity’s existing projects. You will work closely with the Head Gardener, Arts Programme Manager and a team of volunteers to nurture the beautiful garden for people with spinal injuries and their visitors.

You will be responsible for the administration of the garden and coordination of the large group of volunteers. With the Head Gardener you will also arrange seasonal events for patients, their friends and family throughout the year.

Supported by the central Arts Programme Manager you will also be responsible for organising and running a range of social and creative activities for people with spinal injuries and their families and friends to enjoy creating an uplifting, friendly atmosphere in Horatio’s Garden and garden room. These sessions will need to be held on a weekend afternoon which is a critical time in the garden when most patients are available and often have friends and family to visit.

Currently the Arts programme includes crafts, quizzes, seasonal celebrations with lunches,  in addition sessional creative experts also deliver glass fusing workshops, felting, printing, talks, painting, ceramic workshop live music performances,

You will need to be a highly organised person with great IT skills and a proactive can-do attitude. You will be confident working both independently and as part of a team in the garden.

Slough Foodbank believes that no one in the community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ worth of nutritionally balanced, emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in food poverty crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Last year we provided 12,147 emergency food parcels, which was a 7% increase on the previous year. In addition to providing food and basic toiletries, we try, by means of signposting and monitoring and discussions with the supporting referrer to give a helping hand through a crisis.

Harrogate Homeless Project is seeking to recruit an Activities and Volunteer Coordinator to join the Fundraising and Marketing team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the growth and development of Volunteering within the organisation and make a real difference to our work by putting together meaningful activities for our clients to participate in.

The post holder will be responsible for the recruitment and onboarding of HPP’s volunteers, ensuring our volunteer database is kept up-to-date and the planning and management of our client activity programme.

About the role: 

As the Wellbeing Activities and Volunteer Coordinator, you will manage the recruitment and support of volunteers and run projects and events aimed at supporting asylum and refugees in engaging in social and wellbeing activities, building networks, and getting to know the local area. • To run the weekly drop in centre.

• To promote activities and events amongst the client group through appropriate means (emailing, texting posters, fliers, word of mouth)

Volunteer Coordinator

• To recruit and select suitable volunteers in line with the policies and procedures. 

• To liaise with other staff members on recruitment needs for volunteers.

• To support staff members who themselves manage volunteers regarding any volunteering issues.

• Be the contact point for volunteers 

• To deliver basic induction training for volunteers and appropriate ongoing and ad hoc training in coordination with staff members.

The Role

As Volunteering Coordinator, you will be responsible for the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support of TWAM’s volunteers, ensuring they have a positive and meaningful experience. Key Responsibilities (Core Focus):

Volunteer Administration & Management

• Manage volunteer applications, ensuring they are processed efficiently through Assemble (our volunteer management system).
• Ensure volunteers submit required information and complete training in a timely manner.
• Oversee and maintain current volunteer opportunities, ensuring they remain active and updated.
• Work with a team of volunteers who assist with administrative tasks related to volunteer management.
• Provide ongoing support to volunteers alongside their designated managers, acting as a friendly and dependable point of contact. Build relationships with existing volunteers, ensuring they feel valued and engaged through regular communication and support.
• Report on volunteer engagement and impact, providing monthly insights on recruitment, retention, and volunteer hours to senior management.
• Respond to volunteer queries in a timely and helpful manner.
• Optimise volunteer processes and documentation for efficiency and consistency across TWAM’s various volunteer roles and locations.

Volunteer Onboarding & Engagement

• Send onboarding emails to new volunteers, ensuring they receive necessary information and support.
• Develop a check-in process to follow up with volunteers after joining, ensuring a smooth transition into their role.
• Implement and improve onboarding procedures to create a seamless experience for new volunteers.

Volunteer Recruitment & Outreach

• Work with the marketing and communications team to promote volunteering opportunities through social media, newsletters, partnerships, and volunteer centres.

About You

We are looking for an organised, proactive, and people-focused individual who enjoys working with volunteers and managing administrative tasks. You should have strong attention to detail, excellent communication and IT literacy skills, and the ability to engage volunteers across different roles and locations.

JOB OVERVIEW

Working with the Events & Community Fundraising Coordinator, the Community Fundraising Officer will be responsible for planning and delivering a varied programme of community fundraising activities. This currently includes a recipe club, fundraising campaigns, online raffle and auctions, and attendance at events, alongside supporting individuals, organisations and groups who are organising fundraising events on behalf of the Trust.

While prior third sector experience is required, it's just as important that the successful candidate has excellent communication skills and strong organisational and administrative abilities. Responsibilities

• Design and deliver polished supporter journeys for all community fundraisers, ensuring maximum fundraising returns.
• Answer general enquiries and distribute community fundraising packs to supporters who are holding local events or participating in our fundraising campaigns.
• Recruit and manage volunteers, encouraging them to promote the Trust within their local community through event attendance and fundraising initiatives.
• Organise volunteer attendance at the Trust’s own challenge events, including Trailwalker. Handle requests from supporters for Trust representative to attend events, talks or cheque presentations.
• Identify appropriate third party events and manage the Trust’s attendance, with the aim of engaging with supporters, recruiting volunteers, and strengthening the Trust’s brand.
• Work with the Events & Community Fundraising Coordinator to develop a yearly strategy to grow income from community fundraising in line with the wider strategy. Develop new income streams through campaigns and/or introducing new communities to the work of the Trust.
• Formulate and oversee the annual Community Fundraising budget, including income and expenditure. Liaise with the donations processing and Finance teams to ensure challenge and community income is allocated and recorded correctly.
• Work with the Communications team to ensure effective promotion of community fundraising initiatives across all relevant mediums.
• Work with the Communications team to showcase any new initiatives, developing attractive and innovative fundraising assets and ensuring they are readily available for our supporters. Set up smooth, accessible sign-up processes, capturing contact preferences and relevant data that will assist with evaluation and analysis.
• Monitor and report on agreed KPIs relating to Community Fundraising.
