This role is a core part of Pecan’s senior leadership team (SLT), working to develop strategic direction and playing a play a key role in the organisation’s aim to transform the lives of the most disadvantaged people in our community.

You will enable Pecan’s frontline team to deliver the highest possible standards of service.  You will have responsibility for Employment Support, Southwark & Lewisham Women’s Service and Together community projects. This role also oversees Marketing & Communications and Partnerships. It will work closely with the Fundraising Manager and is the Safeguarding Lead and the Equalities Lead

About this role:

Reporting to the Deputy CEO, the Communications and Policy Manager will support SIB’s track record of sector, government and media engagement, notably the high standard of publication set through its media partnerships with Tortoise and the Financial Times, its contributions to the policy landscape in the social sector, and its in-house data analysis and insight generation. This new post will contribute to SIB’s ongoing communications and policy work and its reach and influence.

Key responsibilities

1. Support the delivery of a comprehensive plan for our communications and policy activity, combining ongoing promotional communications, specific activities for funds and programmes, and proactively generated content and opportunities to influence

2. Co-ordinating with SIB partners in developing and delivering communication work, on major projects such as the Youth Investment Fund, the Recovery Loan Fund and the Enterprise Development Programme; ensuring that it is powered by data and customer insight of the highest quality

3. Keeping track of policy developments in areas of strategic importance to SIB, notably in social investment, youth, community energy and infrastructure investment. Writing briefings on key policy developments related to SIB’s strategic priorities, proactively identifying opportunities to further our policy agenda; also researching and preparing responses for relevant external consultations, using SIB data and evidence

4. Identifying, cultivating and maintaining relationships and partnerships with key policy, research and communications stakeholders

5. Attending and providing oversight to the Social Investment Forum, as part of SIB’s secretariat and hosting

6. Writing, editing and producing engaging and relevant content at pace for web, social media and e-newsletters, as well as earned and paid channels

7. Management of any external suppliers of communications and policy activities, including agencies, designers, consultants and think tanks

8. Working with the Marketing Manager, Marketing and Events Coordinator, Business Development Manager and wider team to deliver successful external events with customers, stakeholders and partners including attendance at Party Conferences.

• Significant experience at a managerial level in a PR, marketing, external affairs or communications role

The AFRUCA Child Protection Family Support Service sits within AFRUCA as one of our most impactful programmes targeting families from a range of ethnic backgrounds across England and Wales. The service works closely with local authorities children’s services in cases involving families on child protection plans or in court proceedings. We provide direct one to one training and support for parents to aid their ability to provide appropriate parenting and ensure a safer, happier home environment for their children.

The AFRUCA Child Protection Service currently has a team of five qualified social workers and supports over 50 families each year. We also provide a therapeutic service where children are being reunified with their parents. We are establishing a child protection legal drop in service for families in contact with children’s services and an advocacy service for parents in the child protection system.

Most of our families are referred by local authorities children’s services as a result of cultural and religious practices which are deemed harmful to children’s well-being. We offer qualified social workers who do not wish to work in the statutory sector with an alternative approach to practising social work where empathy, kindness and support is key to our work with families. Our ultimate aim is a reduction of children in Black and Ethnic communities going into or remaining in foster care. We offer a non oppressive and non judgemental service that helps to promote the well-being of children in safe families.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead local campaigning efforts, building a movement to end the need for food banks in our community.
• Manage a team of volunteers to support campaigns and partnership-building activities.
• Engage with local businesses, schools, charities, and churches to foster long-term partnerships and increase food and financial donations.
• Use social media and other platforms to raise awareness of our work and promote volunteer opportunities.
• Conduct research and data analysis to support campaign strategies and inform the CEO’s decision-making.
• Represent SADFB at local forums, bringing the voices of those facing food poverty to the forefront.
• Identify opportunities for new community engagement and partnerships, and nurture these relationships.

About You
The ideal candidate will have experience in community campaigning, volunteer management, and partnership-building. You’ll be a confident communicator with the ability to bring people together, manage projects, and inspire others to join the cause. Experience in research and data analysis, as well as strong project management skills, will also be important.

Our transmedia approach shapes the work of researchers and leading policy experts. We contribute to regional and national discourse, performing Key Change at the Houses of Parliament in 2016 contributing to the Prison Safety and Reform White Paper, Lasagna was used in evidence as part of the Ministry of Justice Family Law Inquiry 2020 which recommended a root and branch overhaul and Rupture is the result of the Parental Rights in Prison partnership with NEPACS and Durham University. In 2021 during the pandemic, our play ‘Sugar’ was commissioned for BBC iPlayer and was programmed on Way Out TV directly into 54k prison cells.

About you

You will be passionate about campaigning for gender justice and building the power of women and girls for social & cultural change. You will have experience of marketing and PR, and an interest in working within the charity sector. We are a fast-paced company so you will need to have strong listening skills, an eagerness to learn and an open mind to develop and share ideas as part of a collaborative team. You will have a passion for the arts and its ability to bring about positive changes in people’s lives.

Our work involves creating spaces for women, inclusive of trans women, to be creative, to talk and discuss. To apply for this role you must be a woman. This new role provides an exciting opportunity to design formational programmes, encounters and training that support young people in their Christian discipleship as they transition to young adults. This three-year post also adds capacity to the faculty of Cliff College, focused on teaching and learning that supports mission and ministry among children, youth and families. About the role

The Trusts and Corporate Fundraising Manager will be based at the head office in Bedfordshire but will work across the organisation supporting schools.

You will raise funds from Trusts, Foundations and Grant makers, as well as ground level fundraisers and events with corporate sponsors and the local community.
