We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.  

In recent years violent crime has risen significantly. Homicides, assaults, robberies and offences involving weapons have all seen sustained growth. We have also seen large increases in violent crime involving children and young people. This is a tragedy. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them.

The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment and a mission that matters. We exist to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence across England and Wales. We do this by funding great initiatives, finding out what works and working for change. 

Key Responsibilities

Your role is to ensure YEF’s funding is directed toward the most crucial gaps in evidence – those that, if filled, will lead to meaningful change for young people. You will oversee the selection of the most promising, evaluable interventions to test in England and Wales, ensure trials are set up successfully, and work with our Evaluation team to deliver high-quality impact evaluations.

More specifically, you will:

Provide team and organisational leadership

• Provide inspirational leadership to the Programmes Team of ten people, ensuring they are best-in-class at supporting delivery organisations to engage in robust evaluation.

• Oversee the Programmes team, including direct line management of four Programme & Impact Leads.

• Ensure the expertise within the Programmes Team is embedded in YEF’s wider work, drawing on the team’s experience of working with delivery organisations to help shape policy and practice recommendations.

• Represent YEF externally, ensuring our funding programmes are well understood and aligned with our sectors’ needs.

• Directly contribute to annual and multi-year planning as part of YEF’s operational planning cycle.

• Be responsible for tracking and reporting progress against our key organisational performance metrics. 

• Help build and model a culture where it is natural to perform well, and colleagues support one another to do so.

Hold strategic oversight of new evaluation commissioning

• Work with the Assistant Director of Evaluation to shape and implement YEF’s strategy for programme and evaluation commissioning. 

• Oversee the team in identifying and developing proposals for new trials within our main sectors. 

• Assess the feasibility and strategic value of evaluation proposals, making stop/go decisions on their progression.

• Ensure the Programmes Team effectively supports grantees to work with evaluators to co-design interventions and develop clear, robust plans for trial setup and delivery.

• Oversee the development of high-quality proposals for new trials, assuring quality and presenting clear recommendations for our Grants and Evaluation Committee.

Be responsible for the ongoing oversight of the full portfolio of evaluations 

• Lead and be accountable for delivering on YEF’s Race Equity commitments within our funding decisions and grant delivery.

• Serve as a senior escalation point for a portfolio of c.50 live trials, maintaining oversight of progress across our portfolio of live trials and intervening early when we spot risks.

• Oversee the financial management of the team’s project portfolio across c.50 live trials, ensuring effective budget oversight, approving grant payments, and maintaining financial accountability.

• Provide direct advice and guidance to the Programmes Team on the setup and delivery of our most complex trials.

• Ensure the rapid mobilisation of new trials following approval.

Build meaningful partnerships and strengthen the organisation’s influence

• Be responsible for partnership opportunities with central Government—holding key relationships, assessing the strategic value of co-funded evaluation projects, and overseeing Heads of Evaluation to negotiate new partnerships terms.

• Steward strategic relationships with other key stakeholders, including other research and policy organisations, funders, and delivery organisations that will help us influence change.

• Represent the Fund on boards, committees and events, including providing up-to-date information to external audiences on YEF-funded activity, and sitting on the board of external organisations linked to YEF’s work.

• Be proactive in identifying co-funding opportunities and ensuring fundraising targets are met for new and existing evaluations.

Hybrid Working

The Area Leaders Programme (ALP) is central to this mission. The ALP will transform how areas identify and support young people and places most vulnerable to violence, collaborate effectively, and deliver impactful interventions to better protect children from being drawn into violence. We are seeking an exceptional senior manager to help drive the next phase of the ALP, scaling from a successful pilot in four Local Authorities to broader implementation across England and Wales. 

Key Responsibilities 

The Senior Area Leaders Programmes Manager will be an essential part of the YEF Change team and will support the expansion and delivery of the Area Leaders Programme, ensuring its effectiveness in increasing evidence-based decision-making, commissioning, and multi-agency collaboration. You will provide direct operational oversight and stakeholder engagement to support local areas in reducing youth involvement in violence.  Approximately 0.4fte of the role will be presenting YEF Toolkit evidence in both the ALP and across wider violence prevention networks supported by the YEF.

This will include: 

Programme Management and Delivery 

• Support the management of the expansion of ALP from four pilot areas to 10 new local authority areas from spring 2025. 
• Support the development and refinement of frameworks, tools, and resources to support effective identification of the people and places most vulnerable to violence, evidence-based commissioning, effective case management, and multi-agency collaboration. 
• Commission and manage contractual arrangements with external consultants secured to support ALP development and delivery. 
• Manage robust monitoring and evaluation processes to assess the impact and inform continuous improvement of the programme. 
• Manage programme resources effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high standards. 

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, safeguarding partnerships, community safety partnerships, and other stakeholders. 
• Represent YEF in discussions with partners and policymakers. 
• Help facilitate collaboration across diverse stakeholders to align priorities, overcome barriers, and promote evidence-based approaches. 

Capacity Building and Support 

• Provide strategic and operational support to multi-agency teams, empowering them to embed effective violence prevention practices. 
• Lead capacity-building activities, including workshops, coaching, training, and peer learning opportunities for local partnerships. 

Presenting Toolkit evidence.

• You will present Toolkit evidence in talks and workshops and speak clearly and persuasively about Toolkit evidence, so that insights from our research lead to positive change. You’ll work with key stakeholders to identify areas of policy and practice that should be informed by Toolkit evidence.

About the role

The Policy and Public Affairs team is responsible for Carers UK’s policy, media, campaigns, research, public affairs and media functions, working with our colleagues in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We are a small team carrying out the full range of public affairs activity, from raising awareness of caring through public campaigns and in the media, to influencing Parliament, Government and wider stakeholders through new research, policy expertise and our campaigning work.

About the Youth Endowment Fund 

We’re here to prevent children from becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to change things.  

In recent years, violent crime involving children has increased. This is a tragedy. Every child is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them.

The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment that exists to reverse this trend. We will achieve this by finding out what works to prevent youth violence and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice. We do this by funding, evaluating and then spreading the very best work on reducing youth violence across England and Wales. 

Key Responsibilities 

Your focus will be to ensure that the office environment at YEF is a welcoming and inclusive one, being the first point of contact for new starters, employees and external stakeholders. You will be dedicated, in ensuring that the office environment is set up for employees to have a positive, collaborative and engaging experience while working from the office. With key responsibilities for general HR administration, office management and supporting with the coordination of our team culture work, you will naturally enjoy having variety within your day-to-day work and proactively seek solutions to aid better efficient and effective management of our daily HR and operations.

Office Management 

Ensure the physical and virtual spaces in which we work at YEF are excellently managed and a welcoming place to work. This would include: 

• Being a strong and personable office lead. Be welcoming to colleagues new and old and make an ongoing effort to integrate them into the team. 

• Ensuring that the office space is well managed including well stocked office supplies and refreshments. 

• Leading monthly social team activities that foster a sense of belonging. 

• Ensuring we have the systems to make collaboration really easy, liaising directly with our IT supplier and pointing out areas of improvement or discussing how things can be done better. 

HR administration 

Help ensure that projects related to HR or supporting people are done brilliantly. This may require you getting stuck in with some administrative tasks or keeping track of who needs to do what by when. 

• Helping to organise the annual appraisal of staff (setting up and collecting in forms and making sure everyone knows what’s going on) so that everyone learns and develops. 

• Making sure the online system we use for employee records is up to date, well organised and that someone technical fixes things if needed.

• Ensuring that the policies we have (on things like pay, holidays, being in the office etc). are easy for staff to find and that someone is prompted to remind staff about them regularly. 

• Coming to know our staff policies inside out, so that staff can go to you to get a question answered. 

Help us recruit brilliant people by:

• Supporting the administration of the end-to-end recruitment process, such advertising jobs online, arranging interviews, managing candidate correspondences and the keeping up to date records. 

• Assisting in the first phase of CV reviews (spotting great people). 

• Organising and managing all new starter documentation, such as; right to work, references, issuing of an employee contract and DBS’s (where appropriate) 

• Ensuring new staff have the right equipment and IT on day one. Being the go-to person for their administrative questions. 

• Onboarding new team members on our office space and IT systems 

General administration 

Make sure some of most important meetings are incredibly effective. You’ll do this by 

• Organising those meetings (booking rooms, inviting people), taking great minutes, making sure we keep track of things we said we would do and saving the documents in the right place.

• Working really well with colleagues to organise documents and information for reports. 

• Supporting people, you work most closely with (the wider operations team) on some of the more important processes, including audits and document maintenance. 

Team Culture 

You will be passionate about supporting to maintain a strong values-led team culture and able to demonstrate what that means.

• Supporting our Culture Lead to prepare and deliver excellently planned and engaging quarterly team away days. This includes visiting event spaces, managing catering and providing excellent support on the day – including activities. 

• Organising onboarding schedules and ensuring smooth delivery of sessions. 

• Noticing when colleagues are less well connected to the team and working with the Culture Lead to support their integration.

We are looking for a dedicated Advocacy Campaigns Manager to join our Advocacy team within Action Against Hunger UK's Operations department.  This is a great time to join our team as we broaden the reach of our public advocacy campaigns to a wider audience. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead on developing and delivering our advocacy campaigns strategy, and also supporting with policy and parliamentary work. Our advocacy and campaigns focus on tackling the key drivers of hunger – conflict, climate change, poverty and inequality – and promoting improved response.

On the campaigns front, this role means spending around three days on designing and delivering creative and engaging online campaign actions, in collaboration with skilled colleagues across teams, organizing campaign events and building the engagement of chef and food industry supporters in our advocacy. EduSpots is a dynamic, community-driven UK and Ghana-registered charity that connects, trains, and equips volunteer community educators (known as ‘Catalysts’) to drive grassroots educational change. These efforts center around the creation and operation of community-led ‘Spots’—innovative education spaces benefiting learners of all ages.

About the Role

EduSpots is seeking a Global Philanthropy Manager—an engaging, dynamic, and proven fundraising specialist who will play a key part in our next phase of growth. As we continue to expand, we need an individual with a track record of securing income from trusts and foundations, ideally at the 5- to 6-figure level (GBP), and the ability to cultivate new funding partnerships.

In the past two years, we have doubled our income and expanded our programmes significantly. We are now poised for further growth and need someone who understands the value of community-driven change. You will collaborate closely with our CEO, Ghana-based Heads of Programmes, and Head of Operations to develop funding proposals and nurture donor relationships at a strategic level.

Depending on experience and availability, this role may involve overseeing a small part-time fundraising team (including a Fundraising Manager, Trusts and Foundations Manager, and Communications Manager). In time, the position could evolve into a Head of Fundraising role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Global Fundraising Strategy

   • Develop and execute an overarching fundraising strategy targeting medium-to-large, multi-year commitments from trusts, foundations, major donors, and (potentially) corporate partners.

2. Strategic Proposal Development

   • Collaborate with the CEO, Heads of Programmes, and Head of Operations to craft compelling organisational and programme-focused bids.

3. Donor Cultivation and Stewardship

   • Establish and maintain efficient donor identification, cultivation, and tracking systems.

   • Create bespoke stewardship plans that demonstrate the impact of donor support and build lasting relationships.

4. Communications and Networking

   • Work with the CEO and Communications Manager to develop a compelling case for support and accompanying engagement materials.

   • Actively represent EduSpots in relevant networks to increase our visibility among potential donors.

5. Donor Relationship Management

   • Oversee relationships with major donors, trusts, and foundations, including grant reporting and ongoing communications.

   • Manage donor databases and ensure accurate record-keeping.

6. Monitoring and Compliance

   • Track philanthropic trends to strengthen EduSpots’ fundraising effectiveness.

   • Ensure compliance with all relevant international fundraising regulations and ethical standards.

7. Team Leadership (Depending on Experience/Availability)

   • Potentially manage and mentor a small part-time fundraising team (Fundraising Manager, Trusts and Foundations Manager, Communications Manager), ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

8. General Duties

   • Contribute to overall strategy development, annual business planning, and budgeting.

   • Carry out all administrative tasks related to the role accurately and efficiently.

   • Comply with all EduSpots’ policies and procedures.

   • Undertake other reasonable duties as required.

Skills, Experience, and Attributes

Essential

• Proven track record of income generation, ideally within education or international development.

• Extensive experience writing successful grant applications (5- to 6-figure GBP).

• Strong background in cultivating and managing relationships with trusts, foundations, and other grant-makers.

• Knowledge of a broad range of UK-based funders and some familiarity with international (European/US) funders.

• Understanding of programme development and management, ideally in an education context.

• Some experience in communications/marketing within an NGO setting.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities to engage diverse stakeholders.

• Ability to work autonomously in a remote role with minimal day-to-day supervision.

• Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Google Drive, etc.).

• Deeply aligned with EduSpots’ values, including a commitment to community leadership, sustainable change, teamwork, play, passion, and care.

• Experience managing a team and overseeing their performance.
