ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a talented, creative and dedicated marketing professional to join our small but powerful team to help deliver our new strategy.
As a new role in the hospice’s Fundraising & Marketing Team, the Marketing & Communications Manager will join an existing team of fundraising managers working to maximise awareness and support of the hospice in order to ensure its long-term sustainability.
The postholder will be responsible for the operational management, development and delivery of marketing and communications to support the hospice’s income generation strategy, including line management of the Website Editor and Marketing & Communications Officer, and external agencies.
The successful candidate will be an experienced marketing professional, used to working closely with income generating teams. They will oversee the delivery of a compelling programme of multi-channel communications with the sole aim of increasing the awareness of and support for the charity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing and communications planning, delivery and performance management
- Working closely with the Director of Fundraising & Marketing, develop a clear marketing and communications plan to support the strategies for fundraising, retail and volunteering.
- Implement, monitor and analyse marketing and communications plans and budgets, producing impactful insights and reports to guide our ever-evolving work through all communication channels.
- Develop and maximise the marketing mix, identifying innovative initiatives and working across online and offline channels, to best support the promotion of all income generation activities across the hospice.
- Ensure compliance to industry standards and best practice at all times.
- Support the fundraising strategy in proactively researching and targeting audiences across the catchment area to ensure a broadening of reach and awareness of the breadth of the hospice’s services.
- Be forward facing and lead on engagement with clinical colleagues to promote the need for strong patient stories and effective storytelling to support fundraising.
- Ensure sufficient opportunities for collection of service user data to share news and promote activities.
- Proactively develop and streamline the long-term internal and external communications schedules across the charity.
- Lead on content creation, coordination and production of hospice marketing materials, protecting the reputation, brand and tone of Katharine House.
Operational delivery
- Lead on the writing and distribution of appropriate and engaging press releases, paid adverts, local village features and articles.
- Work closely with the Marketing & Communications Officer to oversee delivery of a planned (and reactive) social media programme, maximising opportunities to increase our profile, using online planning and Analytical tools to plan and report on digital channels to improve targeting and supporter journeys.
- Work closely with the Website Editor to oversee and optimise the KHH website: creating and updating content for the charity and clinical colleagues, including the EPiC Resource Centre.
- Work with the Website Editor and Supporter Care team to ensure that integration of the CRM (Beacon) and website is optimised, to maximise supporter journeys, supporter preference compliance and insights.
- Work together with relevant charity and clinical colleagues and our designer to prepare, design and deliver high-quality marketing materials.
- Work with the Marketing & Communications Officer to oversee the production of the monthly supporter e-newsletters.
- Alongside your immediate team, manage production of the bi-annual Katharine House magazine from start to finish, with content and thematic planning with fundraising and volunteering managers.
- Lead on content creation to use across the charity. Continue to manage and regularly update our library (filed, captioned, tagged) of patient, staff and volunteer stories with consent, quality photography and video content for use across all of income generation.
- Manage and oversee the charity’s online channels including website, ensuring accurate, up-to-date and engaging content, and ensure all online advertising (inc. paid social media adverts), Google AdWords grant and SEO are effectively managed.
- Liaise with clinical colleagues at our NHS partner OUH to support key marketing, messaging and communication needs, ensuring our brand is correctly used.
Leadership and people management
- Meet regularly with the Website Editor and Marketing & Communications Officer, fostering positive communication and engagement. Carry out monthly one-to-ones, setting quarterly objectives and recognising training needs where necessary.
- As a member of the management team, represent the culture and values of the hospice and charity sector.
- Manage the ongoing and changing priorities within the team, communicating and sharing progress and changes in a clear, timely manner. Promote collaborative working and its benefits across the organisation.
- Attend regular management meetings, contributing to team strategy and overall management/team needs.
- Act as a positive role model to the charity team and wider stakeholders.
- Actively manage the workload of our designer.
- Where necessary, manage poor performance as it happens and support staff to fulfil their role.
- Network and foster good relationships both internally and externally to the charity.

The Office Manager role is crucial to our very busy and friendly office of 14 people and is incredibly varied and interesting. The role requires someone to be friendly, flexible and adaptable, with strong communication skills, a hands-on attitude and the willingness and initiative to work with the whole team doing a variety of different tasks to achieve a common goal. You will be highly organised and be prepared to take on information in many forms and quickly translate this into action. - You will be responsible for ensuring that the building is safe, well maintained and accessible to all staff, tenants and visitors, including sourcing and managing contractors.
- You will support the finance and fundraising teams with data entry and reporting, purchasing and reconciliations.
- You will also have the opportunity to delve into special initiatives, such as supporting our strategic objectives around Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), the use of AI and environmental action.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn about the voluntary sector, particularly learning about trusts and foundations and grant making, as well as developing skills in a variety of admin functions, such as databases, finance, premises and health and safety.
You will also have the opportunity to meet the organisations we fund and work with as well as actively contribute towards our pledge of meeting the ACF’s Funder Commitment on Climate Change and our DEI Strategic workplan (available on request). This will allow you to develop your skills at the Foundation, ranging from project planning, communication, finance, and customer service. You will also have an opportunity to work with our Fundraising and Communications team to help engage a range of supporters. Training will be provided for all your duties.

About the role
In 2023, Sightsavers partnered with the Federation of Organisations of Disabled People in Zimbabwe (FODPZ), the National Association of Societies for the Care of the Handicapped (NASCOH), Deaf Women Included (DWI) and the Ministry of Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare, to launch an Economic Empowerment Project for Persons with Disabilities. This is a three-year project implemented in Harare and Bulawayo provinces, with a project end date of December 2025.
The purpose of this consultancy position is to support and coordinate Economic Empowerment (EE) project activities from 01 June up to 30 September 2025. The consultant will support the Economic Empowerment project to manage activities and relationships with key stakeholders. As the post holder you will ensure that the project is planned, implemented, coordinated, monitored, evaluated, and adapted to the highest possible quality standards.
Further duties and responsibilities include:
Project Delivery

Work with the country project management team and other funding / resources partner to coordinate implementation of activities and sharing of lessons learned.

Manage all aspects of the project cycle with the partners including effective planning, start-up, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, financial and asset management, reporting, documentation and closeout.

Liaise and work with the Global Technical Leads (Disability Inclusive Economic Empowerment) and other internal expertise as required.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

Finance and Resource Management

Support project partners in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.

Monitor expenditure of project financial resources in liaison with the Finance Support Services Officer and the Country Director.
Information and Communication Management

Be proactive in providing good quality information on case studies and interesting news stories relating to the project to support preparation of fundraising materials and advocacy materials

Ensure that the country project management team, fund-raising, and communication department in HH receive appropriate materials and information as required to support donor reporting requirements.

Skills and Experience
As the successful candidate you will have a tertiary qualification (bachelor’s or above) in social sciences, education, development studies, or public health or equivalent, relevant and transferable working experience. You will be familiar with national legislation and policies in the field of disability, human rights and employment, and have significant experience implementing projects, including experience of the disability sector and gender mainstreaming.
Further requirements include:

Experience with labour market issues including labour market assessments, skills training/development, internships, employer engagement, disability inclusion, job placements and job fairs.

Experience in project monitoring, evaluation and learning.

Experience of designing, managing and carrying out advocacy work for social inclusion/disability projects.

Experience providing technical assistance to other organizations.

Knowledge of current issues and best practices in disability, UNCRPD, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and employment is desirable.

Specific responsibilities
An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:
- Programme leadership - To lead the continued strategic development and coordination of the Future Generations Work Programme across CSE; to ensure that all staff are able and encouraged to engage young people in their work; to maintain a portfolio of youth focused projects which provide opportunities for young people to develop capabilities for effectively participating in the energy system transition.
- Development – To pro-actively lead the development of innovative and impactful project ideas and funding proposals for the Future Generations programme, and work with the Development and Communications teams to build and manage the relationships, evidence, and plans necessary to secure investment.
- Representation – To provide inspiration and practical guidance both internally and externally (through targeted public speaking, network-building and online media) for the better inclusion of future generations in sustainability and resilience planning; aligning the Future Generation’s programme with CSE’s strategic objectives and fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and excellence.
- Team and project management – To take responsibility for the planning and overall delivery of Future Generations projects: ensuring that the Future Generations team is well-resourced, highly motivated, and continuously developing their skills, and that project teams are well-led, efficiently coordinated, effectively using CSE systems and processes, and able to deliver work on time, to budget and to client/donor expectations. Provide mentoring to junior members of the LACE team and provide effective and timely senior management support to contribute to overall team wellbeing and cohesion.
- Safeguarding – to act as a safeguarding lead for our work with children and young people. This includes supporting the handling of any handling of reports or concerns (in conjunction with CSE’s dedicated safe guarding officer); pro-actively working to ensure that risks are well understood and managed; keeping policies and procedures up to date; ensuring that safeguarding is prioritized and that expectations of staff, volunteers, trustees, student placements, agency workers and sub-contractors are clear and adhered to.

About the Role

Job title: Patient Support & Advocacy Officer
Reporting to: Regional Project Manager
Location: Based at home, situated across the Bristol region with regular travel to assigned renal units.
Hours: Part time hours, 18-21 hour per week over 3 days. Must be sufficiently flexible to work irregular hours as demanded by the requirements of the post.
Contract: fixed term post until the end of May 2026
Salary: £28,629 pa FTE
An opportunity to provide practical, emotional, and financial support for anyone affected by chronic kidney disease. You will engage with kidney patients, their families, and carers as a source of information, support, and advocacy, in order to improve care and wellbeing outcomes for patients.
This may be in the hospital or other care setting, on the phone, online or face-to-face in a mutually acceptable public place.
The role will cover the main renal units and satellite dialysis units across your designated area in South West / Bristol region. Frequent travel and attendance is expected at some sites.
Responsibilities
• With support, establish the Kidney Care UK Patient Support & Advocacy Service in the region so patients, their families, carers and professionals to access independent support on social, financial, health advocacy and wellbeing
• Be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the Patient Support & Advocacy Service across the region and the effective management of a caseload. This involves regular attendance at renal clinics in the region, building relationships with health and care professionals and being available for patients in the renal unit, on the phone or online, or to meet at a mutually convenient public location
• To support patients to build the skills and confidence needed to positively navigate the challenges presented by health, social care, benefits, and financial support pathways, and to overcome barriers and promote independence
• To support patients to connect with services to ensure that they are engaged in shared decision making and that their voice is central to shaping the care and support they receive
• To raise awareness of Kidney Care UK and the benefits of the Patient Support & Advocacy Service amongst kidney patients, their families, carers, and professionals across the region
• To be a primary source of, or gateway to, local information and access to:

◌ Kidney Care UK Patient Grants programme, raising awareness of the programme and supporting applications

Welfare Rights Adviser & Triage Officer

The role
The welfare rights adviser & triage officer will report to the welfare rights supervisor.
Welfare and benefits casework (approximately 50% of the role) and Triage officer (approximately 50% of the role).
In this role, you will triage all referrals we get into the Support hub and take a small number on as casework.
You will be supporting people affected by long term health issues with financial challenges, supporting with benefit and housing advice, and referring on for further support where appropriate.

We aim to play our part in addressing inequalities in health, through supporting with the wider determinants of health (e.g., finances, housing); areas which can have a direct impact on someone’s health outcomes and recovery. Through doing this, we support the NHS and Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust staff, stepping in where they may not have the time or expertise.
Principal accountabilities / responsibilities: -
Welfare and benefits casework (approximately 50% of the role) and Triage officer (approximately 50% of the role)
Triaging:
· To provide an efficient and effective system to support referrals and enquiries into the support hub welfare rights advice service.
· To assess eligibility of referrals and enquiries, according to set criteria
· To triage referrals into the service (usually patients referred from Royal Free Hospital clinicians), assessing individual situation and level of need).
· Offering one-off advice based on circumstance, providing accurate, up to date information
· To allocate those with the highest level of need for ongoing case work to an adviser
· To develop and maintain effective working relationships and referral systems, with a broad range of service providers.
· To refer or signpost people to other services where required
· Establishing trust, effectively responding to clients going through challenging times.
· Making sense of information, using your skills as an adviser to establish where and how help is needed for each individual.

Welfare and benefits casework
· To provide welfare rights advice and casework for people affected by long-term health conditions, including inpatients, outpatients, and carers.
· To work two days per week on site, mainly based at the Royal Free Hospital or the Royal Free Charity officer
· To provide advice and support on welfare benefits, housing matters (that do not require a solicitor), and non-FCA regulated debts.
· To check whether clients are in receipt of all the benefits they are entitled to and help them claim relevant benefits.
· To help clients understand benefit decisions and challenge them (where appropriate) by way of mandatory reconsiderations and appeals.
· To help clients ensure they keep to their responsibilities in respect of their benefit claims, for example by notifying any relevant changes of circumstances.
· To refer or signpost clients to other agencies or departments as appropriate, e.g., housing solicitors; community care cases involving social services and NHS duties, FCA-regulated debt and immigration services.
· To signpost or refer to other services that might be valuable to a client such as condition specific charities, mental health support, or offerings in the local community that would improve their health and wellbeing.
· As part of this role, there may be some advice given to NHS staff.

· To provide a combination of face-to-face and telephone appointments.
· To ensure that people accessing the service feel welcomed, valued, and understood.

· CSE/GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent
Experience
- Extensive experience working in a welfare-rights related role and independently (Essential).
- Managing your own case load, supporting people with a range of welfare issues including benefits (applications, mandatory reconsiderations, appeals) and housing issues. (Essential).
- Experience of working with people affected by long term health conditions would be beneficial, as well as an understanding of the issues and challenges they face.
- To have experience using a case management system; proficiency with Advice Pro would be advantageous.
· Not for profit or NHS experience would be helpful.

Our partner is seeking an Interim Director of Finance to offer a 12 month maternity cover. Your appointment will come at an interesting time, and your leadership will support their expansion plans and new projects, whilst leading on business as usual activities.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation’s scale and income-generation strategy. This includes developing flexible cost models, developing budgets for pilot projects and new projects, and identifying alternate funding opportunities.
- Lead in the development of the organisational wide budget, and budgets for donor/funder proposals.
- Provide oversight on the organisation’s systems, controls, procedures and policies; ensuring these are robust and strengthening them as required.

Requirements
- Qualified accountant with at least 5 years post qualification experience. Finance leader, with a strong all-round technical background in developing and strengthening controls, financial accounting, management accounting & reporting, forecasting/modelling and offering financial advisory support to the senior leadership team and board of trustees.
- Experience in managing a complex multi-currency, muti-year, multi-country grants portfolio and in fund accounting for charities.
- Experience of leading the finance function of a charity working internationally.
- Advanced MSExcel skills, including a high proficiency in financial modelling.
- Wiling to be hands on, working effectively with staff based in overseas and offering guidance and mentoring as required.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Finance and Accounting Lead will take on a leadership role and be responsible for the overall management of finance and accounting. To be successful, you will be a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, etc.) with previous experience leading finance teams in NGOs or organisations primarily funded by grants. You will have excellent knowledge of accountancy principles, along with budgeting and reporting processes. You will have experience leading the preparation of audits and the ability to present financial information to a wide range of stakeholders. You will be an excellent communicator, able to build relationships with funders, partner organisations, and colleagues. You will have excellent attention to detail and be able to work methodically to strict deadlines.
