Role Purpose
The Operations Director is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective running of all operational aspects of Katherine Low Settlement. This role oversees the day-to-day operational leadership of the charity, ensuring that its systems, processes, and teams are aligned with strategic objectives and compliant with relevant legislation.
This position will lead on programme delivery, financial management, human resources, IT infrastructure, risk and compliance, governance, and facilities management, ensuring that the organisation operates smoothly and sustainably. The post-holder will act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), embedding a strong safeguarding culture across the organisation, and also be responsible for policy development and culture and wellbeing.
As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Operations Director will work closely with the CEO, Board of Trustees, funders, partners, and staff to drive organisational effectiveness and ensure that the charity can continue delivering high-impact work.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Organisational Strategy
- Provide strategic leadership for all operational functions, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s mission and strategic objectives.

Safeguarding & Risk Management - Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
- As the Designated Safeguarding Lead (a role delegated by the Chief Executive), ensure robust safeguarding policies, procedures, and practices are in place.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on safeguarding responsibilities and best practices.
- Oversee the Deputy Safeguarding Leads, acting as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns from them, ensuring they are appropriately reported and addressed.
- Embed a strong safeguarding culture, ensuring that all programmes and services prioritise the safety and wellbeing of beneficiaries.
Human Resources, People Management & Wellbeing
- Lead the HR function, ensuring best practices in recruitment, retention, staff development, and performance management.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), embedding a culture of fairness and opportunity for all.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment law and best practice.

Person Specification
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in a senior operational leadership role, ideally within the charity or non-profit sector.
- Strong understanding of programme management, financial oversight, HR, IT, and governance.
- Demonstrable experience of managing budgets using complex Excel spreadsheets.
- Experience with Salesforce or another complex CRM system, including implementation, reporting, and data management.
- Demonstrable experience in people management, of multi-level and departmental teams, with the ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding best practices, with experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Strong policy development and implementation skills, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.

The Finance Manager is a pivotal role ensuring that all income received is correctly reflected in the fundraising CRM system (Salesforce) and also in the finance software (Sage Intacct).

Starlight, the national charity for children’s play in healthcare, is seeking an experienced income and engagement leader to drive income generation, growth and increased engagement with the charity.
No child should suffer avoidable psychological trauma from their healthcare or treatment. Nor should they have to endure anxiety, loneliness and isolation as part of their healthcare experience. Starlight works to ensure every child can experience the power of play, supporting their mental and physical health during treatment and recovery from illness.
There is an urgent need to improve children’s experience of healthcare and their long-term relationship with health; 71% of settings have no designated budget for play resources, and 85% of Trusts and Health Boards have no policies and procedures for play.
Starlight is seeking a Director of Income Generation and Engagement to grow income both to address this need and, working for a small but ambitious charity, seek effective ways to raise brand awareness and promote Starlight through media partnerships and effective use of social media to reach target audiences.

About this role
As a Director of Income and Engagement your responsibilities would include: -
· Lead, inspire and manage an integrated Income, Data and Communications Team to diversify and increase income to reach and engage more carers.
·Drive a substantial increase in voluntary income and the charity’s supporter base.
·Lead on communications and campaigns to support delivery of the charity’s strategy.
·Take an active role as a member of Carers First Leadership Team to shape and implement the charity’s strategy and unlock the whole organisation’s potential.
About you
To be successful in this role you will need -
· Experience in strategic planning with an ability to produce and deliver creative and impactful income generation and communications plans with targets and measures.
· Demonstrable achievements in planning and delivering significant income growth within a charity, from a diverse range of sources, including trusts and foundations, community fundraising, individual giving, major donors, legacies and corporate partnerships.
· Demonstrable experience in writing compelling, robust and evidence-based proposals and cases for support for funders.
· Extensive experience of planning and delivering national and local communications/marketing tailored to key audiences, across multiple channels, to increase reach and engagement with key audiences.

As an Associate Director in the Paid Media Team, you'll oversee the execution of digital advertising campaigns across clients ranging from leading UK and global charities and UN bodies, to global brands and their CSR programmes.
You will know how to drive strong performance metrics for clients, whilst thinking holistically about the brand and how these metrics contribute to wider conversation about marketing budgets and long-term growth objectives. A day in the life
- Translate clients’ strategic visions into media objectives and KPIs to accomplish a wide range of client objectives including direct response (lead gen and fundraising), awareness, persuasion, and advocacy.
- Analyse ongoing and historical performance data to identify opportunities for improvement, make strategic recommendations, and generate reporting and insights to drive optimisation.
- Have a strong POV on measurement, attribution, and conversion tracking, and apply that knowledge to strategic recommendations and ongoing campaign management.
- Participate in (and frequently lead) client-facing interactions — you’ll be the subject-matter expert for the platforms you manage.
- Plan, build, manage, and optimise media campaigns across multiple platforms, and oversee others in the team across multiple accounts to ensure media buying is efficient, effective and compliant.

We approach in-office working with a hybrid model, with presence in our office required at two days per week.
Some things we're looking for
- 6-8 years experience in a hands-on paid media planning and buying role using a mix of digital channels (Social, Search, Display, Video, Audio, etc)
- Demonstrated experience translating client business goals into cohesive media strategies and specific KPIs, and a record executing campaigns that delivered on those goals.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple clients and projects on time, within budget, and meet performance goals.

What you’ll be doing:
The successful Director of Philanthropy will represent Our Future Health at pitches, fundraising events and meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Lead the planning and management of High Value income streams as well taking a proactive role in fundraising high value gifts from Trusts & Foundations, Corporate Partnerships and Major Donors.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, with the Code of Fundraising Practice, and with official guidance issued by the Fundraising Regulator.

- Work closely with colleagues in the Communications Team to write and design compelling cases for support that are tailored to our High Value prospects and partnerships grounded in our branding and communications toolkit.
- Produce regular reports on fundraising activity for the Executive Team and Board, analysing performance against targets, and identifying areas for improvement and growth.
