Main responsibilities:
- Manage, lead, support and develop our support and development (S&D) team, ensuring effective delivery and performance against our aims, objectives and plans, and ensuring the team’s work is well-planned, coordinated, evidenced and reported;
- Lead on the development, delivery and regular review of a strategy and annual plans, targets and budgets for the S&D team, engaging the team and our funders effectively in this process, drawing on member, partner and Board input, and aligning with our overarching strategy;
- Nurture a member-orientated, empowering, positive approach in the S&D team, in line with our values, ensuring high-quality provision of support, advice and signposting, balancing proactiveness and responsiveness, and being attentive to members’ needs and input, as well as wider contexts and opportunities;
- Help our team to show positive leadership and provide intelligent, effective support, training and development services to our members around community engagement and empowerment, social inclusion and diversity, sustainable and healthy travel and socio-economic development – including by listening to members, continually developing the team’s knowledge, skills and networks, and enabling the team to signpost, refer to and collaborate with organisations with useful expertise/services;
- Coordinating with our other teams, forge and maintain strong external partnerships, especially leading on those that help us support our members better and bring them opportunities, such as with train operators, corporate partners, third sector organisations, and at operational level with devolved/regional/combined authorities;
- Continually monitor and develop the S&D team’s performance and impact, including using member, partner and colleague feedback, supporting staff to consider and maximise effectiveness, driving innovation and efficiencies, and developing ways to assess and evidence our impact, especially as our membership continues to grow;
- Manage our activity supporting the creation and development of new or emerging community rail partnerships, station groups and community stations, and our support for those undergoing major change or challenges, ensuring this is carefully balanced with existing members’ needs;
- Ensure our members’ voices, experiences and insights can be effectively used by our other teams and external partners, in their delivery, planning and strategic influencing work, especially ensuring that case studies, stories, examples and views are fed through to our communications, policy and events activity;
- Play a key role in our liaison with and reporting to our own funders, and other major funders of our members, including ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation of our S&D work, collating good evidence of our own and our members’ impact, and maintaining a robust awareness of and ability to advocate on opportunities and risks in community rail;
- As a member of our senior leadership team, work closely with senior colleagues and across the organisation, and liaise with our Board as relevant, to co-ordinate and manage the delivery of our overarching strategy, reinforce our values, ensure the whole team is engaged with our mission and purpose, and to show external leadership across our members, partners and beyond.
Skills and competencies:
- Strong leadership and management skills, including a track record in managing, developing, drawing on and getting the best from a multi-faceted team, and working in and driving positive change in a complex, rapidly-evolving environment;
- Significant experience and demonstrable experience in community engagement and community-led projects, ideally from both professional and voluntary positions, and ideally experience in supporting and advising community initiatives;
- Experience in successfully planning, developing, delivering and evaluating programmes with positive social outcomes, including reporting to funders;
- Experience working collaboratively and forming mutually-beneficial partnerships and professional networks, ideally with experience of developing corporate partnerships and/or funder relationships;
- An understanding of how to evidence and increase social impact, particularly in relation to community development, empowerment and sustainability;
- Awareness of and a strong commitment to community empowerment, social inclusion, social justice and sustainable development, with a good grasp of the importance of public transport and sustainable travel, and community-led action, to these agendas;
- Excellent communication skills, articulate and assertive, with the ability to work constructively, diplomatically and persuasively with stakeholders at all levels and handle challenging situations;
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while dealing with competing priorities, and an evidenced ability to support a team to do so;
- IT literate and competent using Office applications, the internet and CRM/database/recording systems;
- Appropriate qualifications and professional development demonstrating knowledge and skills in line with the above, and a commitment to ongoing learning and development.
Other information
As you will be home-based and managing a dispersed team, we are flexible about your location. However, you will be expected to travel to our office in Huddersfield for in-person full-team meetings quarterly, and you will need to bring your team together at a central location with similar regularity in between. On top of this, attendance at occasional in-person events and partner meetings, and visits to members to learn more about community rail and assist the team, will be important. We therefore welcome applications from those with decent public transport links, not too far from a railway station to enable journeys to be made sustainably.
This is a full-time position, 37 hours per week. We use a flexi-time system, with the core hours 10am-3pm, and we are committed to being a flexible, supportive and understanding employer. This is a permanent position with a probationary period of six months.

Line Manager: Director of Communications and Engagement
Line Management Responsibilities: No line management. The post holder will have responsibility for maintaining management of freelancers, agencies and partners.
Your responsibilities will include:
Communications campaign development and management:
- Develop and project manage a programme of integrated communication campaigns that grab attention and encourage action across rewilding practice, policy and fundraising.
- Work closely with the Communications and Engagement team to develop aligned messaging and campaign assets and to deliver these across owned, earned and paid channels.
- Lead on the creation of compelling campaign assets and content (e.g. polls, petitions, online actions and campaign toolkits).
- Manage campaign timeframes and budgets seeking a good, quantifiable return on investment.
- Gather and present audience insight to inform our campaigns and ensure our campaigning work is evidence led.
- Set and measure campaign KPIs, conduct campaign de-briefs and write campaign evaluations, encourage a culture of testing and learning and growing our campaigning approach.
- Seek relevant external collaboration opportunities with allies and partners to amplify our campaigns.
- Where appropriate, commission and manage the relationship with external creative, campaigning and advertising agencies.
Communications projects and events management:
- Organise, plan and deliver our involvement at online and in person events that will help to encourage action across rewilding practice, policy and fundraising (e.g. exhibition stands at party political conferences or corporate fundraising events).
- Design, deliver and project manage cross-organisational communication activities which will raise the profile of Rewilding Britain (e.g.World Rewilding Day, anniversary events).
- Support the Catalyse, Influence and Fundraising teams with the communication requirements for events (e.g. Rewilding Network conferences, fundraising dinners, panel debates, report launches).
Cross-functional collaboration:
- Work closely with the Catalyse, Influence and Fundraising teams to integrate campaign efforts and identify the relevant campaign issues, priorities and opportunities for influencing policy, fundraising and Network membership growth.
- Support the broader Communications and Engagement team to implement strategically aligned locally focused communications activities, projects and events for England, Scotland or Wales.

The role is a full-time, 5-day-week (35 hours) position.
The salary is £38,000 - £43,000 per annum depending upon experience.
There will be some freedom for the person to determine their own working arrangements each week, within limitations, providing the work is delivered.
Rewilding Britain employees benefit from 25 days annual leave per year (pro rata for part time roles), rising to 30 days over 5 years. A generous employer-matched pension scheme is also available.

The RSPB, Europe’s leading nature conservation NGO, is seeking a Director of Supporter Fundraising to lead the charity’s work in recruiting and stewarding the next generation of individual supporters to help address the nature and climate emergency.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is a charity for the conservation of birds and nature, bringing people together who love birds and other wildlife, and who want to take action to restore the health and diversity of the natural world. The charity now manages and protects 160,000 hectares of land across the four countries of the UK.
Public support has been at the centre of RSPB’s work since its foundation as a campaigning organisation in 1889. What we’re looking for
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and have a real commitment to campaign for change on corporate accountability for human rights abuses. You’ll be enthusiastic and full of ideas, able to juggle multiple deadlines and tasks, while being ready to show initiative and take ownership of your area of work.
You don’t need to be a policy expert on our issues, but you’ll need to have the ability to rapidly gain an understanding of what we work on and why, and advocate for these issues to Parliamentarians and civil servants.
Facilitating joint work alongside our coalition partners is fundamental to everything we do, so we’re looking for someone who already has experience of working in coalitions or in the not-for-profit sector - whether in the UK charity sector or elsewhere - and who will be at ease regularly communicating with other organisations and facilitating meetings which can have multiple organisations in attendance. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Westminster Theological Centre (WTC) as Finance Director (FD). WTC is at an exciting phase of its development as a fast-growing, innovative college. We are looking for a visionary, solution focused FD to work with the other members of the Senior Exec Team (SET) to build on current achievements, and help the college take full advantage of the current and future opportunities.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the FD will oversee all finance functions of the college and the associated consulting entity. The role will include being a member of the SET, contributing to the strategic management and governance of WTC within the overall framework of the Strategic Plan and in line with WTC’s core vision, mission and values. WTC launched a for-profit consulting entity in 2020, and the FD will also be a member of the Management Team of WTC Consulting Ltd (WTCC). The role holder will provide strategic financial advice to the WTC Board of Trustees and the WTCC Board of Directors.
The FD role includes the preparation and submission of Group Accounts, engagement with stakeholders and students, and oversight of the financial aspects of events and projects as detailed in the attached job description. The FD will also manage the Finance Manager to ensure the smooth running of all financial aspects of college and consultancy activities.

Commitment and Pay scale
This is a 4-5 day/week, permanent position (37.5 hours/week FTE) on completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months. The position attracts a salary of £40,000 - £50,000 FTE per year, depending on experience and qualifications, as well as access to a pension scheme. Annual holiday allowance is 25 days per calendar (FTE) year plus bank holidays.

APPLICATION PROCESS
Our application processes aim to be highly predictive, time-effective, and informative for you. The Awards Management Unit (AMU)
AMU has responsibility for identifying, securing and managing all funding from government donors for the IRC. AMU is a bridge between donors and the IRC’s work on the ground. The team provides expert technical advice to colleagues delivering our services around the world, ensures consistency and compliance with our donors’ policies and procedures, and manages risk. The unit also supports all IRC staff working on awards from government donors and partnerships.
The Purpose of the Role
The Senior Advisor, FCDO Donor Engagement will lead, guide and coordinate IRC’s funding focused engagement with UK Government’s Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). The post holder will provide an internal and external “account management” function to support engagement with these donors. The role is responsible for providing expertise and leadership on donor relations. It will work closely with technical and proposal development teams who will provide the operational BD capacity to secure significant growth in its funding portfolio from the UK Government and to protect IRC’s funding share, through influential engagement around policy shifts, working in close collaboration with Policy & Solutions as well as Advocacy & Influence.
The FCDO Senior Advisor will lead the development and implementation of strategies for proactive donor and partner relationships on behalf of IRC. The role will develop and maintain positive working relationships and standards of collaboration with senior colleagues across the organization, including the Awards Management Unit, International Division (CRRD) and External Relations. The role will also lead FCDO liaison on Business Development with the President’s Office, advising the leadership board on relevant trends in FCDO funding.
Major Responsibilities:
Strategy
- Collaborate with senior leaders to develop, update and lead a comprehensive UK-focused business development strategy including approaches, tools, and metrics.
- Lead the development and implementation of the UK donor engagement strategy including coordinating actions of relevant stakeholders.
External Representation
- Develop and maintain a network of senior stakeholders within relevant FCDO teams to ensure effective engagement, influence and winning BD approaches.
- Undertake direct representation with donor officials, and support the development of IRC’s donor relationships, including brokering meetings between donors and Regional and Technical Leadership, Country Directors, and supporting the preparation for these engagements.
- Participate in key meetings with FCDO officials, including Desk/Program Officers, Heads of Unit, Director-General/equivalent, advisors and other officials.
- Represent the IRC at external meetings, events, and forums including delivering presentations/briefings to senior donor representatives, forums and sector groups.
Enabling cross organizational engagement with UK Govt
- Proactively identify and broker relationships with key UK FCDO officials and stakeholders.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of donor strategies relevant to IRC’s work, such as funding priorities, geographical interests and political climate, providing analyses and synopses of press releases, policies and other announcements, and disseminating this information internally.
- Map donor organizational structure, identify key contacts and maintain relationship records in IRC’s CRM system.
- Maintain and contribute to the improvement of tools and resources to support donor engagement and relationship building with donors.
- Work with key staff across the organization to support UK business development planning and implementation, routinely engaging with operational BD teams at global, regional and country levels to review long term pipeline, plan strategic engagement and mitigate portfolio risk.
- Equip IRC staff with the skills, tools and information to manage local, or technical donor engagement, business development and implementation.

- Strong IT skills, particularly in managing relational databases (experience with Raiser’s Edge is an advantage).

Are you a strategic fundraising leader with a passion for building relationships and developing marketing activities? Do you have a proven track record in driving income growth through creating transformational appeals, products and propositions for long-standing and new supporters? If so, you could be the perfect fit for our Director of Fundraising & Marketing role.
As the Director of Fundraising & Marketing, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management of the charity’s fundraising and marketing activities. Reporting directly to our CEO, you will work closely with the senior leadership team, trustees, hospital partners, and other key stakeholders to align our fundraising and marketing strategies with our mission to support those affected by heart and lung diseases.
Key Responsibilities:Strategic Fundraising Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to grow income year-on-year, focusing on high-value fundraising, community fundraising, individual giving, and legacies. Lead the development of transformational appeals, products, and propositions for our audiences.
High-value fundraising and income generation: Proactively engage, acquire, steward and retain corporate partners, philanthropists, and trusts to unlock financial support, meet our ambitious income targets, and drive awareness of our work.
Marketing and Communications: Develop a marketing strategy that increases the charity’s visibility and builds brand reputation. Oversee all communications channels, including digital and social media. Oversee the development of the charity’s brand narrative, identity and positioning.
Team Management: Lead the fundraising and marketing teams, ensuring workloads are managed, and a high standard of support is provided across the charity.
Senior Leadership Contribution: Contribute to the charity’s strategic direction, working with our Board of trustees and playing an active role in organisational development and decision-making.
A Summary of What We’re Looking For:
- An experienced strategic fundraising leader with their own proven track record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts
- Significant experience in the development of appeals and fundraising propositions, including engagement partnerships.
- Proven experience of leading continuous improvement in relation to Major Appeals operations, with relevant experience and networks within high value and philanthropic fundraising.
- Strong leadership skills with experience of effectively managing high-performing fundraising teams.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will also have worked within a healthcare charity context, and have experience leading the marketing & communications functions, including both brand development & management, and communication campaigns.

Successfully shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an initial screening phone conversation with our Recruitment Partner (either during the application window or within 7 days of the closing date).
