The Role
FARA is looking to launch the charity’s new Individual Giving programme and is looking for an experienced fundraiser to lead the creation and launch of this.
It is an exciting time for the charity, which helps disadvantaged children, young people, adults and their families in Romania. Building on the initial income opportunities and strategy development work done by fundraising consultants, you will be joining a marketing function with ambitious plans to transform their communications. You will work alongside colleagues across the whole organisation to deliver this work and will have the support of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the CEO and additional support from Nova Fundraising who have already been working with the charity on a consultancy basis.
The Individual Giving Manager will be responsible for:
- Creating systems, structures, activities and messages designed to launch and grow individual giving with an ambition to take the charity’s fundraising income to six figures over three years.
- Using data to inform Individual Giving campaigns, creating powerful messaging to acquire, retain and upgrade donors through digital and offline methods.
- Brief and oversee the work of external agencies, as required, to support the recruitment and engagement of new supporters.
- Oversee and implement stewardship plans and supporter journeys for financial donors, who work alongside those of other supporters to ensure optimum message integration and upsell/cross-sell opportunities.
- Work with colleagues to generate and implement FARA’s email stewardship programme for individual givers.
- Plan, schedule and manage personalised communications with donors.
- Explore other fundraising areas, including events, community, legacy and major donors.
The Person
Are you entrepreneurial, innovative, personable, and collaborative, with experience developing and delivering fundraising programmes?
The role requires a candidate with a strong background in building relationships and identifying and developing new fundraising messages, campaigns and activities from scratch.
This is not a case of picking up a mature programme and running with it (although the organisation does have a small baseline of donors who have been giving for many years). The opportunity is all about creating, testing and learning – to diversify income sources at FARA, utilising the extensive network of supporters it has gained through its 40 charity shops across London.
You will need to be proficient in digital platforms, with experience in building a digital-focused approach to supporter acquisition and donor development. You will play a crucial role in nurturing relationships with individual supporters to make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children, young people and adults in Romania.
The post-holder will have previous experience in fundraising, ideally experience specifically within IG, however this is not essential and we will consider candidates looking to transition into a new area of fundraising. You will need experience of developing creative fundraising programmes and be excited by the prospect of pursuing new opportunities for the organisation by engaging with existing supporters—many of whom might only have ‘gifted’ the charity via donations of pre-loved clothes and other items to FARA shops.
Why FARA
FARA funds, develops, and manages social support services across Romania for vulnerable children, children with learning disabilities and complex needs, youth at risk, adults with learning dis-abilities, and community-based programmes, tackling poverty through education for Romania’s poorest families. FARA, established in 1991 following the fall of communism, has grown to be one of the biggest and most established NGO’s in Romania, working to building a stronger future for Romania.
This is an exciting new role for the organisation and a wonderful opportunity for the right individual to shape an emerging fundraising programme. You will be joining a relatively new marketing team that is working to build and develop this wider function for FARA to support the shops’ net-work and fundraising work. Working with an innovative and creative team, you will be well-supported to test, learn, and apply to achieve success.
The role is permanent and full-time, and offers the opportunity to work flexibly from the offices in Teddington or Angel, and from home.
If you think you could be the right person to fulfil the exciting responsibilities of this role, apply here, or get in contact Charlie or Leanne at Charity Horizons for more information.
Please note: If you would like to submit an application or express your interest in an alternative format such as audio or video upload, or require any adaptations for your initial engagement with us, please contact either Charlie or Leanne who will be happy to advise on this.
Please also be aware that we use anonymous recruitment methods when submitting shortlists for all our roles and we only work with organisations that are happy to engage with us in this way.
Charity Horizons is an equal opportunities employer and as such actively promotes equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We welcome and encourage applications from all suitable candidates irrespective of age, disability, hidden disability, race or national origin, religion or belief, gender, gender expression, political view, sexual orientation, medical condition and pregnancy.

Royal British Legion – Senior Supporter Acquisition Manager.
Location: London, hybrid (office two days a week).
Salary: £47,212 to £49,252, per annum (Inclusive of London Supplement).
Contract: Permanent, full-time, 35 hours per week.
The Royal British Legion (RBL), the leading Armed Forces charity, is looking for an experienced marketing manager to join their Fundraising directorate and lead a brilliant team to develop and implement a range of supporter acquisition marketing programmes to achieve the growth ambitions of their Fundraising strategy.
RBL holds a special place in the hearts and minds of generations of people in society. As the largest military charity in the UK and home of the extraordinary Poppy Appeal it has provided support to members of the Armed Forces community for over 100 years. Today is no different. The needs of veterans, young and old, serving personal and their families are growing and complex. To support them the charity needs to raise awareness and donations.
The Supporter Acquisition team at RBL is responsible for all marketing to attract new supporters across a large portfolio of appeals/products and media. The charity is seeking a team leader who has significant expertise with a wide range of marketing channels and can really add value to large well-established programmes with their experience, knowledge and drive to continually improve, identify appropriate new opportunities and shape supporter acquisition programmes.
The role involves leading an experienced team of two managers and two co-ordinators, and leading relationships with key suppliers. The marketing programmes include most significantly face-to-face fundraising (from stands in retail space or expos/outdoor events and door-to-door) and DRTV advertising, plus some print campaigns, payroll giving and 3rd party marketing. The role will also manage development projects that could include aspects of digital fundraising. An important part of the role is developing advertising for the nation’s largest charity appeal, the Poppy Appeal each November.
RBL introduced a new fundraising strategy last year called ‘Three Giants’ to focus on protecting and strengthening three vital areas of income generation, the Poppy Appeal, individual giving and gifts in wills. Now is an exciting time to join the charity to help to implement the strategic change and to be a key stakeholder or lead in a variety of cross-team workstreams.
As an experienced senior marketing manager, you would hit the ground running to optimally deliver plans with your team, whilst helping to shape programme strategies and review supply requirements. You will need experience of managing and coaching teams and working in a truly collaborative way with colleagues, teams and suppliers, leading by example in accordance with RBL’s values.
You won’t shy away from complexity and getting to grips with the details of the broad array of appeals/products your team will be marketing and associated systems, budgeting, reporting and KPI measurements for each of them. You’ll strive for excellence, ensuring campaigns are compelling and effective and will be able to capably resolve issues at a senior level and take on new challenges.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to join RBL and help to deliver evolving fundraising programmes that will raise donations today and also provide longer-term opportunities to help fund much-needed welfare services in the years ahead. You would be joining a welcoming and capable team, focused on serving the thousands of beneficiaries who need our help every day.
Please note there is no closing date for this role: we reserve the right to close this vacancy when we are in receipt of sufficient applications. Should you wish to apply for this post, you are advised to complete and submit your application form as soon as possible.
Please download our Candidate Pack for further information [PDF], which includes details on how to apply.

ABOUT YOU
This role will likely suit early-stage and mid-level communications/marketing generalists or specialists (0-5 years of experience) and could be tweaked significantly in responsibility to suit a senior communications/marketing specialist. At minimum, you should already be able to execute high-quality work across a range of communications tasks, combining some existing skills with an excitement to grow in new areas and contexts which may be less familiar. You will likely consider yourself as a communications-focused generalist to some degree, able to quickly learn and improve at tasks you have little or no previous experience with.
We expect excellent candidates will meet many (but not all) of the criteria below. We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet all of the listed characteristics. In the past, we've offered positions to applicants who demonstrated strong overall potential, providing training to address skill gaps. We prioritise high general ability, a strong work ethic, and alignment with our values, methods, and approach to maximising global impact over specific prior work experience or backgrounds. We sketch a picture of potential ideal candidates to give a more concrete sense of what particularly strong candidates might look like, not to discourage interested readers from applying.
The Ideal Candidate is:
-
A skilled communicator, both in writing and in-person:
-
Can create powerful, professional, and compelling written content that concisely conveys complex ideas
-
Comes across as confident and persuasive in person when delivering talks at a conference, hosting an online Q&A, or having 1:1 discussions with promising applicants
-
-
Has experience with some (but not necessarily all) of our core communications channels (Wix, Mailchimp, LinkedIn, Google Search Ads; Canva)
-
Puts the mission first - being willing to do more menial applicant-driven work during crunch periods of our application cycles
-
Has some prior experience with marketing or communications work, bringing practical experience of optimising tools like Google Analytics and Phantombuster, and in executing paid digital advertising campaigns
-
Is familiar with and ideally has connections within the evidence-based international development space, farmed animal welfare movement, Effective Altruism movement, and/or other relevant (entrepreneurial, nonprofit, philanthropic) communities
-
Is a results-oriented, data-driven decision-maker excited to prioritise ruthlessly and leave less important things undone
-
Leans towards quick iteration and testing, being able to learn new skills and processes quickly through doing
-
Is a team player able to both give and receive constructive feedback, while being able to independently progress on important tasks when necessary
Desirable but not necessary:
-
Can create compelling digital media through high-quality photography and/or filming
-
Experience working in fast-moving and/or startup workplaces
-
1+ years of experience in communications or marketing-focused roles
WHAT WE OFFER
-
A job with a large, tangible impact on the world - your work will attract and select the founders of new field-leading charities and for-profit companies, as well as high-impact researchers and AIM staff
-
High levels of intellectual challenge, autonomy, variety, and learning on the job

-
We are open to discussing specific personalised perks or benefits that may enhance your work experience
APPLICATION PROCESS
Our application processes aim to be highly predictive, time-effective, and informative for you. Our process consists only of stages that our best evidence suggests are predictive of success on the job (such as test tasks) rather than more common but less predictive stages (such as cover letters). We only invite candidates to the next stage if we think they have a good chance of passing it, and take care to choose tasks and interview questions that will also give you a good sense of the role and our culture.
Applicants will be asked to complete the following stages:
-
Submitting our general application form (30 minutes to 1 hour),
-
A general test task (2-3 hours) with the top 10 to 30 candidates,
-
An initial interview (15 minutes) with the top 10-20 candidates,
-
A test task simulating the work you would do in your role (2-3 hours) with the top 5-15 candidates,
-
A final, more in-depth interview (~60 minutes) with the final 2-5 candidates.
We will also conduct a reference check before making an offer. Each stage typically takes 1-2 weeks from the end of the application deadline, and we hope to make an offer within ~8 weeks of the application deadline. Ideally, the candidate will begin onboarding as soon as possible after an offer is made. We strongly prefer candidates to join the team by January 2025, but we would consider a different date for an ideal candidate.
We help you find and transition to a high-impact career with comprehensive support, removing barriers and accelerating your journey to maximize good.
As our new Advocacy & Communications Manager you are passionate about students' voices - both individually and collectively. You will lead our new Advocacy & Communications team in ensuring that students are supported through our advice service, informed through our communications and heard through our campaigns and representation. About Kinship:
Kinship is the leading kinship care charity in England and Wales. We offer kinship carers financial, legal, practical and emotional support and understanding from the moment they need it, for as long as they need it. Our expert advice, information and guidance helps with complicated and stressful decisions that so many kinship families have to make. We are always there to support them through challenging times and celebrate the good.
Kinship carers are strong and determined. Together, they are powerful. We help them build communities of support and action by connecting families locally and across England and Wales.
We are at the heart of kinship networks, partnering with and influencing service providers, local and national government and other organisations. We give everything we have to fight for each family and their rights, changing society until every kinship family is recognised, valued and supported.
Kinship care often begins in crisis. A child has parents who are unable to care for them, for whatever reason. It can be frightening, confusing and heart-breaking.
Instinctively, a loved one steps in – a grandparent, brother, sister, aunt, uncle or family friend. They are now a kinship carer, bringing up the children they love. There is often no chance to prepare. Plans may be pushed aside. Relationships, jobs and savings are frequently sacrificed.
It is life changing and challenging raising children who have been hurt or neglected, but kinship carers do it anyway because they put the children first.
We know how hard life can be for kinship carers, but we have seen the amazing things they are capable of, with someone by their side. With the right support, children raised in kinship families can flourish.
That is why we support, connect and campaign – to keep kinship families stronger by keeping them together.
About the Team
The Peer Support and Community team at Kinship is dedicated to enhancing the lives of kinship carers across England and Wales by delivering the first national peer support service. With a focus on building and sustaining networks of peer support groups, the team aims to empower kinship carers through access to resources, training, and development opportunities.
By fostering connections within local, regional, and national ecosystems, the team plays a vital role in ensuring that every kinship carer has access to a supportive community.
As part of our commitment to growth and impact, the team develops innovative approaches to peer support, creating an inclusive environment where kinship carers can share experiences and access essential services. We prioritize collaboration across various departments, ensuring that support group leaders receive high-quality advice and training, facilitating their sustainability and effectiveness. This integrated approach also includes alignment with national and local campaigning efforts to further engage and support the kinship carer community.
In line with our strategic focus on cultivating a vibrant Kinship Community of over 10,000 carers, the team leads initiatives aimed at enhancing community connection and empowering kinship families. By developing a robust model of community engagement that encompasses both in-person and digital services, the team aims to amplify the voices of kinship carers, enabling them to effect meaningful change in their lives and communities.
About the role

You’ll create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive community for kinship carers, building belonging, resilience, and empowerment. Funded by the Department of Education, the National Peer Support Service is a game-changing service that creates a sustainable and life-changing legacy.
