About the Council
The role of Council is to lead on the GOC’s mission to protect the public by upholding high standards in the optical professions. The Council is composed of six lay members (including the Chair) and six registrant members (i.e. registered optometrists and dispensing opticians). At least one member of the Council must work wholly or mainly in each of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. One Council member acts as a Senior Council Member whose role is to carry out the Chair’s appraisal as well as provide a sounding board for the Chair and serve as an intermediary for Council members, Executive and stakeholders as necessary.
The successful candidate will contribute to Council by exercising oversight, ensuring effective corporate governance, and making high-level policy decisions. They will be able to operate strategically and impartially; listen, communicate, and influence effectively; exercise judgment; and inspire confidence and support amongst our stakeholders.
Remuneration and time commitment
Council members are remunerated in accordance with our member fees policy (£13,962 per annum plus reasonable travel and subsistence expenses) which is linked in the candidate pack. The member fee includes time for reading and preparation.
The appointed member will be expected to commit approximately 2-3 days per month. Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices at 10 Old Bailey, London, EC4M 7NG. There are occasional online catch-up meetings - these are currently scheduled on a Tuesday evening every 6-8 weeks, from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.

Monitor the CCTV throughout the shift
Enable customers to make full use of community facilities by providing support as directed
Carry out support duties to enable customers to integrate into the community including e.g. accompanying the customer to attend benefit agency appointments and meetings, go shopping, to enquire at colleges about possible courses, to visit various public amenities
Report any observations relating to customers welfare
Maintain records as required at the project under the direction of the Support Workers/ management

About the Role

About You
You will have experience working or volunteering for a charity and in writing successful bids and securing income, ideally from trusts.
You will have:
· The ability to take complex information and translate this into persuasive written communication which leads to action.
· Solid research skills, which can be applied to identification of suitable new prospects for a funding pipeline.
· Ability to operate in a highly cohesive, high performing team based on the principles of trust, mutual respect, and empowerment.

The abundance and diversity of native plants and fungi are the cornerstone of healthy and functioning ecosystems. Plantlife believes that restoration undertaken through and by, partnership with private landowners is the only model that can deliver at the scale and pace required.
The emergence of nature markets offers the potential for significant private investment in nature restoration in the UK. To deliver at scale and pace we need every nature markets mechanism to work across a broader range of habitats – particularly grasslands and temperate rainforest. We also need to build our own capability and capacity to fully engage as markets evolve.
This role will be key to developing and articulating the economic case for restoration of a broad range of habitats, prioritising grasslands and temperate rainforest. It will represent Plantlife in the debate and become a centre of excellence on this subject within the organisation

Role Overview:
The Volunteer Coordinator for WeSwim is a key role responsible for recruiting and onboarding volunteers to support all our activities and events, ensuring a positive and rewarding experience for all. This role also supports the setup of new WeSwim clubs in London, raising profile in new areas and developing relationships with new stakeholders to promote the organisation. - Volunteer management & support: Maintain an up-to-date database of volunteers, including contact information, availability, and skills. Schedule and assign volunteers to sessions based on their availability & monitor attendance. Serve as the main point of contact for all volunteers, addressing enquiries and resolving any issues. Work with Club Committees (lead volunteers) to foster a positive and inclusive environment for volunteers, encouraging teamwork and community spirit.
- Marketing & Communications: Develop social media marketing and email communications to support recruitment and retention of volunteers in line with strategy.
- Setup of new swimming clubs: Scope & contact future pool partners, develop and deliver engagement plans to recruit new volunteers and swimmers to attend the club when it opens in partnership with WeSwim team.
- Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders including: local authorities, community organisations, disability charities & sports clubs. Represent WeSwim at community events, meetings, and public engagements. Develop and implement strategies to increase the club’s visibility and reputation in the community.

Key information:

Job Purpose
Working across fundraising and communications you will develop and manage your own portfolio of existing Trusts and Foundations, community and individual donors, and research and prioritise new opportunities ensuring high quality stewardship to secure ongoing support. This role will focus on producing high-quality applications and reports to funders and by providing excellent account management and cross-team collaboration. Trust Fundraising

Develop, manage, and maintain a trust and foundations fundraising portfolio with a clear, scheduled pipeline of funding applications, coordinating opportunities and team resources to meet targets.

Create and curate a calendar of multimedia content to increase engagement and audience reach through digital and traditional marketing materials, social media posts, e-newsletters, and our website.

Support the development and management of Village Water’s website, ensuring content and architecture are up to date, consistent, and engagingly showcase our work, current campaigns, news stories and calls to action.

Lead on the development of paid for digital campaigns including budgeting, A/B testing, asset creation, copywriting, and reporting.

Create a range of digital graphics and assets, including animations, images, videos, banners, and infographics.

Design printed marketing items - such as reports, leaflets, flyers, banners, and signage.

Develop a timeline for the ‘comms hub’ remote capacity building for the local partners in Zambia and Mozambique to train in specific comms activities, gather material and share learning.

MaidEnergy supports the growth of locally generated and locally owned renewable energy in Maidenhead, Windsor, Egham, Staines and the surrounding area. We are a community business, democratically run, with an asset lock to preserve the solar panels or other energy generation infrastructure for the benefit of the community.
We launched our first renewable electricity generating community Solar Photovoltaic (PV) share offer in 2015. Since then people have demonstrated their faith in us by investing £970,000. Their investment has funded eight Solar PV installations totalling 640kW and a 60kW Ground Source Heat Pump. These installations have brought low carbon, lower priced renewable energy to public organisations and seen 260 local and national investors join a movement of ethical and financially rewarding community ownership.
MaidEnergy works by:

Many of these challenges are complex and long-term, and our systems change campaigning function works with colleagues across the RSPB to tackle them head on. We are recruiting for a Senior Campaigner in our Campaigning & Mobilisation department.
What’s the role about
Our systems change campaigns work tackles big, complex problems facing nature and climate over the long-term. The current focus is to drive systemic change that creates the right conditions for nature-friendly farming to prosper. You will focus campaigning pressure wherever it can be exerted to best effect – and not always at governments, but also at other key actors. Through the campaigns you develop you will help us realise large-scale positive change for nature and climate that builds and builds.
The campaigns you help develop will have multiple elements, offering our phenomenal supporters a range of ways to get involved. Their supporter journey will deepen engagement and empowerment of individual campaigners over time, equipping them to tackle these complex problems in their own way.
As part of a dispersed team, you could be based anywhere in the UK, so long as you’re able to travel to central locations to get together with colleagues, and on occasion to meet with colleagues in Cardiff, Belfast, Edinburgh and Birmingham.
In this role, key activities will include:
- Co-creating and delivering systems change campaigns on behalf of the RSPB, working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation.
- Responsibility to roll out systems change campaigns in two of the four countries of the UK (with another Senior Campaigner covering the other two).
