Save the Children UK has an exciting opportunity for an experienced OD Partner to join our People team on a 18-month fixed term contract to deliver OD transition support to teams and colleagues in areas which have been redesigned as part of the first phase of our Refocus/Restructure programme, in line with our Culture of Impact ambitions.
Please note, this role may require up to 6-8 days a month working in our London office in Farringdon.
About Us
Save the Children UK believes every child deserves a future. In the UK and around the world, we work every day to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. When crisis strikes, and children are most vulnerable, we are always among the first to respond and the last to leave. We ensure children's unique needs are met and their voices are heard. We deliver lasting results for millions of children, including those hardest to reach.
About the Team:
The Organisation of the Future (OoF) programme is about transforming how we are as an organisation to increase our impact with and for children. Together, we want to create a great experience at work for everyone - an environment that is safe and where we feel we belong, where we work towards a clear shared purpose, with flatter structures and lighter systems. An environment that inspires innovation and collaboration with greater autonomy and responsibility and that allows for flexibility, adaptability, and responsiveness to change whilst also delivering value where it matters most.
Four interconnected principles guide us: agile, adult, experience and iterative, providing us with clarity into what we want our organisation to be.
The Organisation of the Future programme is now part of SCUK's new strategy, under our Culture of Impact goal.
To deliver to our new strategy, we are currently implementing a change programme, the Refocus programme, which started in 2024 and will run throughout 2025 and beyond in terms of implementing the changes. Different areas of the organisations are being re-designed and significant Organisation Development support will be needed as areas, teams and colleagues transition to new ways of working and organising.
About the role
At a time of fast change, as the OD Partner you will deliver OD transition support to teams and colleagues in areas of the organisation which have been redesigned as part of Phase 1 of our Refocus programme, and later on Phase 2, in line with our Culture of Impact ambitions.
This will be a varied and constantly evolving role, as this is the spirit of the OoF programme, which is iterative, so perfect if you love learning and adapting in an agile way.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
• Designing and delivering impactful OD support, in particular team coaching for multiple teams across the organisation, as well as other OD interventions in departments, teams and individuals as relevant, and in line with our experience, agile, adult and iterative design principles, ensuring DEI is considered throughout.
• Contributing specialist OD knowledge and experience to the design, implementation and monitoring of our OD transition support and wider change support across the organisation as part of the Refocus programme.
• Co- designing products and co-facilitating multiple spaces with other colleagues, bringing OD specialism, knowledge and experience to compliment theirs.
• Being an active member of the Organisation of the Future OD group and of the Refocus OD transition support team.
About you
We are looking for someone with the following experience and skills:
• Demonstrable and significant OD knowledge, skills and experience at all levels of an organisation, from individual to team, group and wider systems interventions.
• Significant knowledge, skills and experience of group and team development, with multiple teams and organisations, including through change.
• Deep understanding and awareness of diversity, equity and inclusion, and demonstrable experience of integrating DEI in OD interventions.
• Knowledge and experience of working with teams and organisations moving towards less hierarchical structures and adopting self-management and an agile mindset an advantage.
• A high level of self and interpersonal awareness.
• Excellent relationship building and collaboration skills and demonstrable experience, across multiple teams, groups, and the wider organisation, and with diverse colleagues, people managers and Directors and senior leaders.
• Experience in supporting others' development, such as through coaching and/or mentoring .
• An agile mindset and approach, with the ability to constantly adapt plans and review approaches, the willingness to constantly learn, including from positive and constructive feedback, and to work in ambiguity and emergence.
• Organisation, coordination and prioritisation skills, with high levels of flexibility.
• Comfortable with taking responsibility and operating autonomously and high levels of accountability, while being open to support and refocusing of what will add most value when needed.
Please note: To avoid disappointment, you are advised to submit your application as soon as possible as we reserve the right to close the vacancy early if a high volume of applications are received. This is to ensure that we can manage application levels whilst maintaining a positive candidate experience. Unfortunately once a vacancy has closed, we are unable to consider further applications.
Ways of Working:
The majority of our roles can be performed remotely in the UK, but there are likely to be times when you will be required to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter). This will be agreed with your Line Manager and team and is intended to be time spent on collaborating with colleagues and relationship building.
Please note: travel costs to your contracted office will be at your own expense.
Flexible Working - We are happy to discuss flexible working options at interview.
Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion:
Save the Children UK believes in a world that is fair, inclusive and equitable where all children have the opportunity to change their world. We apply this to our workforce and we are committed to developing and supporting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organisation where all employees have a sense of belonging and feel that they can be "Free to Be Me". We are not looking for just one type of person - we want to recruit people who can add fresh perspectives, innovative ideas or challenge that disrupts the risk of group think.
We are especially interested in people whose childhood experiences - of life on a low income, of migration, of being in a racialised community, of the care system, of being LGBT+ or in an LGBT+ family or living with (or with someone with) a disability - help us to see things we might otherwise miss. Whatever your story is we want to hear it because we know that different voices, ideas, perspectives and knowledge, working together will enable us to better the lives of children around the world. This is the reason why we are all here.
