We are looking to recruit an exceptional Area Manager to provide direction and leadership to support the continued modernization and growth our retail operations. The Area Manager will support a passionate and committed retail team to deliver profit, promote fundraising and support eye health and public awareness. They will ensure that the business is run in a robust, transparent, compliant and efficient way in line with our values – whilst contributing expertise and energy to the wider charity.

Role Responsibilities:
Strategy, planning and growth
· Track progress against plans and budgets, and support shop teams to adapt, phase and prioritise work where appropriate.
· Ensure that broad and long-term thinking is brought to decision making and avoid reactionary behaviour, whilst capitalising on arising opportunities.
· Support the delivery of a five-year Retail Strategy (2024 – 2028), to include:
o The professionalisation of our systems and processes to capitalise on all income opportunities.
o Putting a positive customer experience at the heart of our approach.
o Delivering income upwards of £2.5m per annum with year-on-year growth to £10.6m by 2028/29.
o Deliver Gift Aid targets across all shops.
o Assist the Retail Development Manager in launching new shops.
o Utilise digital and social media to drive footfall and stock donations.
o Support fundraising through the shops, including legacy and IG marketing.
o Tailor each shop in the portfolio to maximise the potential of its unique location and its role in the business – including exploration of clearance, vintage, furniture and books.
o Create a framework of retail standards of excellence and ensure shops are managed and maintained to those standards.
Sales and Profit
- Monitor and be accountable for sales and category performance, as well as ensure that the team are aware of and engaged in the area financial performance
- Foster a creative and entrepreneurial environment where team members seek to maximise income in new and innovative ways both within their shops and through a variety of channels, such as community events
- Drive the team to maximise income from Gift Aid on donated products
- Ensure that all financial procedures are adhered to and executed in a timely fashion by the shop teams
Shop Floor
- Ensure sourcing sufficient levels of donated stock locally in collaboration with the shop management and Retail Partnerships team
- Ensure compliance with efficient and commercially successful stock processing systems (such as pricing, quality standards, consumer safety, stock density and culling stock), including backroom systems and ensure these are adhered to by the volunteer team. Ensure that all legal and internal regulations regarding donated stock are adhered to
- Inspire the team to provide a great customer and donor experience, which enables us to attract new supporters every day. Ensure that feedback, including complaints are escalated to the Director of Retail within the agreed timeframes
- Empower the team to work in partnership with the Visual Merchandising Manager to create original, appropriate and commercially successful visual merchandising displays, including shop windows
- Make sure that all procedures for the sale of new and donated corporate products are followed by the volunteer team
- Work with the Director of Retail to ensure our shops are in good condition, maximise their potential and are fit for purpose
- Provide a safe and healthy working environment and ensure that all team members are aware of and operate within our health and safety policies and procedures, including waste management and customer safety
Leadership – Volunteers
- Support the Volunteer Manager and shop management teams to recruit, induct, and retain an inclusive and diverse volunteer team, which is large enough in numbers and capable to maximise income and profitability and guarantee the smooth running of the area.
- Maintain an empowered, well trained, motivated and engaged volunteer team with excellent levels of communication at team and individual level.
· Define and develop our retail volunteer programme to ensure first rate volunteer experience, engagement, and great customer experience.
- Connect the volunteer team with our work and help them to understand the value of their contribution.
Leadership - Paid Staff
· Support members of the charity retail team to embed a high performing, motivated, collaborative, creative and dynamic culture – and seek opportunities to celebrate success

We have a highly skilled team of 30 full-time employees in Malawi implementing this work, based out of two offices in the Northern Region. Our UK office in Bristol comprises a small fundraising and operations team of seven staff (two team members are full-time, all other team members are part-time), 3-5 regular volunteers and interns, and a wider family of volunteers and supporters.
Temwa UK has an experienced and high functioning board of Trustees who are very engaged. The board member who oversees the fundraising portfolio is very active, providing support to the Fundraising & Development Manager and the fundraising team as a whole.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Managing the fundraising strategy and donor relations with oversight of the fundraising office
- Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the charity’s income generation strategy, ensuring targets are achieved.
- Align the fundraising strategy with the communications and marketing strategy.
- Act as the organizational expert on income generation, leading the team to expand all relevant fundraising streams.
- Maintain and enhance current income streams, including trust fundraising, corporate fundraising, high value donors, and individual giving.
- Maintain relationships with key donors and their specific requirements.
- Collaborate with the Programme Advisor and Programmes Director in Malawi to align community needs with donor priorities.
- Lead, research & review the opportunities to apply for institutional funding with the Programme Advisor.

Job summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will work closely with the Chief Officer (CO) to grow the business activities of Headway Black Country (HBC).
The BDM's core purpose is to work with the CO, members of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and the Board of Trustees to identify and develop new business and funding opportunities, to enable HBC to meet our charitable objectives, specifically regarding the key themes of:
- Providing support: Offering practical advice, emotional support, and rehabilitation services to individuals who have experienced a brain injury, as well as their families and caregivers.
- Raising awareness: Increasing public understanding and awareness of brain injuries, their causes, and the impact they can have on individuals and their families.
- Promoting independence: Helping individuals with brain injuries to regain their independence, develop skills, and improve their quality of life through various programs and services.
You will provide support to the CO in the identification of opportunities, development, and submission of proposals, and managing the bid/tender processes from scoping through to implementation:
- To secure income from a range of sources to support the Strategic and Business Plans of Headway Black Country.
- To lead on the development of a range of new business opportunities.
- To build relationships with a range of key stakeholders to better position the organisation.
KEY TASKS
- Gain a full understanding of all areas of Headway Black Country to enable post-holder to identify and develop new opportunities.
- To undertake a market analysis to identify opportunities for growth, and to lead on the development of appropriate business products and services as agreed with the CO.
- To identify opportunities for service development through new funding streams, partnership, and commissioning opportunities.
- To lead on the management and preparation of funding bids, tenders, business proposals.
- Coordinate the implementation of agreed new projects and help to develop monitoring plans, and co-ordinating reporting arrangements.
- To develop positive relationships with a range of stakeholders providing funding to charities to raise awareness and promote HBC within the Region.
- Build relationships and partnerships and pursue funding avenues to realise new service activity in line with HBC charitable objectives.
- Implement and lead HBC Fundraising Committee and developing the organisation's funding strategy with the Chief Officer and Board of Trustees.
- Input into the website/ marketing materials to include new and potential development ideas.
- Collaborate and work as part of the management team on agreeing what Business Development Plans progress/ track and communicate progress and recommendations.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Possess a proven track record (2 to 3 years or more) of leading successful applications to grant makers and charitable trusts.
- Have experience in corporate fundraising and donor stewardship.
- Have experience of a broad variety of business/ fundraising opportunities relevant to the charitable sector.
- Have proven experience of developing and maintaining excellent relationships with key stakeholders to deliver tangible results.

As the Senior Marketing & Engagement Manager in a one-year FTC role, you will lead the Marketing & Engagement team. You will manage the Marketing & Engagement Manager and support the work of the Community Fundraising and Sporting Events teams in order to deliver our strategy and meet our annual income target.
You will: support the development and progression of the Marketing & Engagement Manager and two Marketing Campaigns Officers, oversee the strategy for SLF-wide marketing campaigns, manage marketing budgets and own the relationships with external media and creative agencies, support with sign off for all SLF marketing content, own stakeholder management with Heads and Managers across ARUK, and oversee a new engagement strategy to review and implement a new stewardship plan across SLF supporters.
This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract, or on the return of the substantive post holder, to cover a period of maternity leave.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
· Shape the strategic direction for marketing and supporter engagement for the SLF function within the charity.

· Be the digital marketing expert among SLF products and events teams, leading the Marketing & Engagement team to support on the delivery of their income objectives.
· Lead the development of the Marketing & Engagement team’s annual operational planning and five-year strategy, driving greater focus on scaling up the volume and value of supporters whilst maintaining great engagement and supporter experience.
Product marketing and management
· Lead the Marketing & Engagement team to support with the strategic planning and delivery of new and existing fundraising products/events to maximise income and attract new audiences.
· Ensure the creative and brand integration of products across SLF to drive maximum value and awareness.
· Support the development and delivery of all products on time, on budget, and on brand across a variety of media.
· Routine end of campaign reviews and analysis, with proactive adaptation of plans to optimise results.
· With the Marketing & Engagement Manager, be the SLF points of sign off for all marketing materials, responsible for proofreading and approving all marketing literature and brand materials for the department.

Supporter engagement
· Write inspiring marketing copy and compelling communications supporting SLF activities to drive action.
· Lead the team to deliver and implement a new supporter engagement strategy, improving stewardship and engagement journeys across all SLF supporters.
· Work with teams across ARUK to develop and implement improved SLF CRM/supporter segmentation, supporter journeys, and lifetime value understanding.
· Working with the Insight team and SLF Heads, improve SLF audience insights, interpretation, and application.
People management
· Management and development of the Marketing & Engagement Manager and support their growth as the manager of two Marketing Campaigns Officers.
· Continue to develop the vision, purpose, and strategy for the Marketing & Engagement team.
· Agency relationship management across a variety of partners and suppliers, including our media and creative agencies.
· Work with the Head of Communications, Head of Brand and Head of Digital to ensure all communications and activities are aligned across the charity.
· Work together with Heads and Senior Managers across the organisation, integrate the new media agency to drive better planning and collaboration, aligning strategically for our next phase of growth.
Budget management and reporting
· Annual budgeting of fundraising product/marketing expenditure and regular reforecasting and reporting.
· Annual operational planning and five-year forecasting, including quarterly Fundraising & Marketing directorate check-ins.
· Work closely with key teams across ARUK to ensure engagement, acquisition, and remittance is monitored and evaluated (including trend analysis and KPI tracking).

The Facilities department manages all Assets and Estates that Family Action own or lease across the whole organisation, overseeing all the services across England.

Working closely with the Head of Facilities, the successful post holder will be responsible for the management of Facilities Assets and the implementation of Health and Safety and Environmental Management in Family Action’s Central region (approx. 40 sites). You will support with our assets across the whole of the charity, including supervising some external contractors. You will be a confident communicator who is able to work under pressure, achieve targets and meet deadlines. And you will be comfortable working in a small team environment where priorities can change at short notice.
Your skills
You will have a strong track record in delivering Facilities Management and a focus on quality, performance, safety, welfare and management controls. We want to hire a ‘can-do’ and energetic leader who will build and sustain positive working relationships with key internal customers, while developing partnerships that will continue to evolve and effectively meet the needs of the charity and every service user we support.
Main Responsibilities:
· Conduct Health and Safety site audits to a schedule across Family Action’s Central region.
· Support responsible managers with risk assessments across Family Action’s Central region.
· Support and give advice to local management teams regarding their Health & Safety system, through regular meetings and tickets raised within the Facilities helpdesk.
· To work closely with the Head of Facilities to develop corporate services for Family Action’s Central region sites.
· Help develop the Facilities departments’ JWA (SLA) and ensure they are consistently applied and regional measurables are reported to the Head of Facilities.
· Assist local management teams with planning and undertaking repairs and refurbishment as well as the day-to-day maintenance of Family Action assets (properties and equipment) in conjunction with the relevant budget holders and landlords.
· Monitor and respond to tickets raised within the Facilities helpdesk system (SalesForce), as well as all relevant emails sent to the Facilities mailboxes.
· Collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers, including the engagement of new suppliers and nurturing of existing relationships through meetings and KPIs.
Main Requirements (for details check the job description and person specification):
· Member of IWFM to at minimum at Affiliate level (or equivalent).
· Trained to IOSH Managing Safely Level.
· Good working knowledge of standards and legislation applicable to Facilities Management.
· Experience of delivering site relocation and mobilisation projects.
· A friendly, helpful, and welcoming manner as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Experience of setting up new properties, developing systems, and manging projects.
· Experience with Office 365, One Drive, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
· Ability to organise own work and time, using own initiative and recognise matters that require urgent attention.
· Experience of working within a team providing a service to others.
· To work flexibly as may be required by the needs of the team and carry out any other reasonable duties as required.

The Role
This role will be at the heart of our Localities, delivering Community Investment and partnership actively through commissioning and supporting activity that creates social impact.
Reporting to the Community Investment and Partnership Manager, you'll lead in the delivery and ongoing development of a Locality based Community Investment strategy, embedding our Thriving Communities, Customer Impact and Corporate Plan. Key responsibilities include:

What we need from you
Ideally, you'll have significant experience and expertise in the Community Investment sector gained from working in a similar role.
You'll need excellent partnership skills, a focus on delivering social impact, ability to identify opportunities for fundraising and programme development and commitment to customer service with the confidence to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders. You'll also have:
- A proven track record of positive stakeholder engagement and relationship management, both internally and externally
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written, tailored to a range of audiences
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Experience of quality assurance of projects, including monitoring and evaluation systems
- Confidence with budget management and financial systems
- IT literate and able to use technology for effective project delivery
