Sounddelivery Media is a dynamic charity that seeks to amplify lived experience stories and expertise to address social inequalities. We work alongside people with direct experience of injustice and inequality to advocate for themselves and their communities.

Our Spokesperson Network constitutes a network of media savvy spokespeople, who have direct experience of social injustices. Developed collaboratively with a network of leaders with lived experience, it aims to diversify the voices we hear in the media and make it more representative of the society we live in. Through training, media mentoring, peer support and speaking opportunities, we tackle the barriers that prevent these experts from engaging with journalists who have the power to influence coverage and ultimately drive change.

Members of our network have spoken on all the major news outlets from BBC Newsnight, BBC Radio Four, ITV News, to the Times, the Guardian, places where they can reach audiences of millions and have influenced documentaries and a storyline for a high profile drama. They’ve become part of policy and advisory conversations: APPGs (All Party Parliamentary Groups), Governmental select committees, speaking at Party Conferences and joining advisory panels.

Our work additionally seeks to support the wider charity sector to develop and amplify lived experience stories and expertise themselves. We work closely with charities to help them develop and train their own panels and spokespeople and are currently facilitating Future Voices, a unique spokesperson training programme for migrant domestic workers in partnership with The Voice of Domestic Workers.

About the Role 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced media communications professional to join and shape a growing, friendly and flexible charity committed to advancing social justice through transforming representation in the media.

Sounddelivery Media is on the lookout for a dynamic individual with great media engagement know-how, a hands-on approach, strong relations with journalists and a passion to address how issues are represented in the media. Join our growing and impactful team working alongside dynamic leaders and their communities addressing social injustice and social inequalities. Our Media and Community Engagement Lead offers a fantastic opportunity to work closely with an incredible network of leaders.

This is a full time role (although we would consider a 4 day week) with 2 days a month minimum working with the team in London.

Role Overview:

You will provide strategic support to our dynamic Spokesperson Network of leaders with direct experience of social injustices, through;

Managing our existing media relationships, and developing new ones, to create opportunities for our network of confident public spokespeople to be visible
This role will enable us to increase the visibility and impact of our programme participants and their communities by engaging with journalists, media professionals, and other influential platforms. You will be responsible for broadening speaking opportunities, such as broadcast interviews, opinion pieces, and identifying potential storyline collaborations across various media outlets. You’ll also seek opportunities to feature our network in public forums like TEDx talks, conferences, and other platforms that influence public conversations.

Empowering Network members through training and support to develop and maximise media opportunities themselves.
In addition to media engagement, you will play a key role in empowering our network to create and share their own content. This includes helping participants build confidence and develop skills in content creation (eg vlogs), and pitching to the media, ensuring their voices reach those in positions to drive meaningful change.

Building trusted relationships with lived experience leaders in a ethical, trauma-aware, and holistic way
You will work closely with our community to activate and strengthen our network, driving collective action and amplifying the important issues they are addressing. Building trusted relationships with lived experience leaders is key, and you will ensure that all engagement is grounded in ethical, trauma-aware, and holistic support.

Sharing knowledge with other charities supporting Spokesperson Networks
You will help share what we learn through our work with other charities and learn from them too. Using peer-led sessions to share best practice, challenges and ideas for charities working to amplify the voices of people with direct experience of social injustice.

As a small but growing charity, this is an exciting opportunity to shape the direction of our organisation alongside a supportive trustee board, a dedicated team of four staff, and a group of skilled freelancers. Your contribution will be integral to our mission and the positive change we aim to create.

-With a background in media relations and/or journalism at a senior level you are someone who cares about the way issues are framed, reported and covered in the media.

-You’ll be driven by a desire to amplify the voices of those with direct experience of inequality and injustice from diverse communities, and will work closely with them so that they feel safe and supported in sharing their experiences and solutions for change. 

-You are a creative self-starter, happy to work alone but also as part of a small team. 

-You come with ideas to develop this work to have a bigger, positive impact.  This work takes time and is deeply relational. 

-You can adapt the way you work to meet the needs of different communities.

What You’ll Be Doing –  Key responsibilities:

-Taking the lead on strategic media engagement across all our programmes of work- maximising and creating media and speaking opportunities for our members

-Nurture and grow our network of journalists, updating them about our work and the issues our networks are speaking on through regular and responsive communications

-Supporting our community to feel confident and prepared for interviews, honing their media messages and accompanying them to interviews where appropriate. 

-Regularly engaging our community and being a sounding board to help to develop their ideas 

-Proactively source longer-term opportunities for the issues our community addresses to be more visible in the public eye this could include building relationships with soap storyliners and documentary makers. 

-Support the team on Sounddelivery Media events that increase the visibility of our community and our work

-Support with delivery of media training and coaching on our programmes. 

-Work with the communications team on content- ensuring messaging is impactful in blogs 

-Participate in our peer-led meetings to share our learning and invite guest speakers to share theirs.

-Contribute insights on our media work for reporting to Funders and Trustees

What skills and experience you’ll have:

Essential

-Experience at a senior level working in media relations within a charity, journalism or similar.

-Significant experience of developing and maintaining good relationships with a range of journalists and media professionals;

-A sharp understanding of what makes a strong story with experience of pitching stories and ideas to journalists

-A confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills 

-IT literate with multimedia experience – video, audio, visual content (or willing to learn)

Desirable

-Experience of working with people who are using lived experience of social injustice to affect change including excellent understanding of safeguarding and risk management

Key Responsibilities 

Oversee the Youth Voice programme

• Oversee the day to day running of The Mix’s Youth Voice programme, ensuring its alignment with
  The Mix’s strategy
• Lead the management of a database with 500+ young people, overseeing monthly reporting and
  data reviews
• Cultivate and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for active youth participation
• Matrix manage a team of dedicated Youth Voice staff leads, providing guidance, support, and
  fostering collaboration
• Design and deliver Youth Voice training for all staff to equip everyone for meaningful involvement
  of young people in their work
• Advocate for the meaningful involvement of young people in all aspects of The Mix’s internal and
  partnership work from ideation through to evaluation
• Collaborate with internal teams and prominent brands and organisations to integrate youth insights
  into decision-making processes
• Lead Youth Voice projects, emphasising the amplification of young people’s voices while managing

Person Specification

Essential

• A commitment to advocating for young people’s voices and ideas, with a drive to support and create
  opportunities for them to have ownership of spaces that they use
• Experience embedding youth participation frameworks within organisations
• Knowledge and understanding of Youth Voice frameworks and models
• Experience in group facilitation and an understanding of the co-design process
• Experience overcoming key obstacles in embedding youth voice frameworks
• Strong written communication and the ability to demonstrate empathy through written word
• A clear understanding of digital tools that young people use - including social media
• Experience delivering Youth Voice activities

• Line management of three case workers

We are seeking a resourceful and motivated refuge support worker to help deliver our life-saving refuge service to survivors of domestic abuse.

The Role: As the Refuge Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering tailored emotional and practical support to women and children living in our refuge. Responsibilities include:

Growing, planning & delivering KCLSU campaigns

• Provide resources, support and mentoring to student officers and student campaigners, utilising digital and offline organising models of engagement, to support them to develop hard-hitting and effective campaigns.
• Coordinate and work with KCLSU teams to support representatives and members in delivering their campaigns and communicate the impact of campaigning at KCLSU, building interest and recruiting new activists as a result.
• Deliver a range of approaches to student voice engagement, developing diverse methods of participation and innovative practices for facilitating student decision-making, co-creation, and capturing insight.
• Work with external organisations to lead on KCLSU involvement in local, national and NUS campaigns.
• Responsible for measuring and reporting the impact of our campaigns.

Developing Student Representative Communities

• Support Networks, Academic Associations and Campaign groups on-going growth and development, supporting them to build inclusive, active, and intersectional student-led communities.
• Engage with representatives through coaching, building relationships and providing support as they develop and deliver their campaigning and organising agenda.
• Ensure participation in representation is accessible and inclusive, identifying and removing barriers to engagement particularly for low participation groups.

Leadership Development

• Create and deliver training, guidance and ongoing support for Student Officers, Student Representatives and Academic Associations, equipping students with the knowledge and skills that enable them to thrive in their role and feel empowered to grow as community leaders.
• Build strong and nurturing relationships with student representatives and Academic Association leaders, coordinating effective engagement and regular contact with our members.
• Empower students – particularly those from low participation groups - to become student leaders and participate in KCLSU Elections.

A successful candidate will have:

Qualifications

We are searching for a Peer Support Worker to join our Mental Health services. The role is a peer support worker, who would facilitate groups, and help us with the smooth running of Mind BLMK services. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the recovery journey needed to improve mental health and wellbeing.

Our peer support and recovery services are a key element of the services we offer, and we are looking for someone who can use their own lived experiences to provide support to help individuals achieve their goals. Service Delivery

• Facilitate Peer Support groups and ensure outcomes which support individuals
• with mental health and wellbeing needs and achieves the service’s KPIs.

IRC UK launched its first Resettlement Asylum and Integration (RAI) programme in the UK called RISE in 2021, working in partnership with local councils, to provide integration support to resettled refugees in Southeast England. The Purpose of the Role

The Grants Manager ensures the quality of and efficient processes for proposal development and grants management; and manages the delivery of the IRC UK’s business development ambitions under the Strategic Action Plan.

Key Working Relationships:

Position reports to Director RAI UK. Position works closely with the Regional Grants Advisor, Program Development Advisor, Head of Programmes and RAI UK project leads.

Key Accountabilities:

Business Development:

- Identify, investigate, track, and support positioning for funding opportunities for IRC UK in in collaboration with regional business development and RAI UK management

- Develop, lead, and track proposal development processes, directly coordinating and managing the development of proposals and concept notes in collaboration with multiple stakeholders;

- Ensure proposals are timely tracked with standard IRC tracking tools

- Assist in compiling and editing proposal budgets and ensure communication and coordination between all departments (finance, programs, and operations) in drafting of budgets

- Provide weekly update to RAI UK on business development, including go/no-go, proposals submitted, wins / losses, etc;

- Drive IRC best practice in business development, including MEL, PEERS, financial planning, the IRC Way, etc;

- Allocate business development tasks and responsibilities to proposal and opportunity team;

- Maintenance of BD records: Pipeline , Partner tracker, BD Notebook (partner meetings, Go-No/Go, positioning, etc.,)

Grants & Contract Management

- Ensure that grants and contracts are implemented in compliance with IRC and relevant donor regulations, as well as maintenance of updated grant files and grant management tools;

- Support Project Managers with quarterly project implementation meetings, following up on any action points related to donor communication and flagging any concerns to RAI leadership in a timely manner;

- Assist project managers, operations staff, and partners with understanding the reporting and other compliance requirements on their grants/sub-grants;

- Manage all reporting deadlines, develop calendars for report development and coordinate report compilation and review;

- Support the MEL team to develop strong Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning practices throughout the portfolio;

- Coordinate modifications to any agreements or projects (i.e. extensions, indicator changes, budget realignments), as necessary;

- Act as focal point for communications with Regional Program Support Team (RPST) around grants administration and compliance functions;

- Act as Compliance officer for UK grants such as the Refugee Employability Project (REP), ensuring adherence to contract requirements such as social value and KPIs, standard contract T&Cs;

- Coordinate with donors on grants management, project progress, monitoring and evaluation.

Partnership Management

- Support in stakeholder analysis and potential partner identification on business development, live projects and for future opportunities;

- Oversee the process of negotiating pre-award agreements with potential partners;

- Work with Programme Managers to keep Partner Tracker up to date;

- Review and advise on all partner agreements (including log frame, budget, spending and workplan); ensure review of partner agreements and provide recommendations

- Ensure adherence to IRC’s Partnership Excellence for Equality and Results System (the ‘PEER System’ or ‘PEERS’) in the selection and management of IRC UK’s partnerships.

- Support Programme Officer with partner vetting and due diligence process in line with IRC’s policies and standards and support collaborative risk management and project design

- Support the review of the performance of the partner, of the IRC (including on the basis of partner feedback), and of the partnership, including successes, challenges and lessons learned, fostering ongoing partnerships beyond the sub-award project cycle.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

- Minimum two years experience working in an NGO and with local community organisations or charity partners;

- Some knowledge of UK donor regulations and priorities such as Home Office and Local authorities;

Our Technical Knowledge team oversees Blue Ventures’ technical pillars (Secure Rights, Community-Based Fisheries Management, Food Security and Financial Inclusion) and supports the use of data for decision-making, providing tools, training, and guidance to partners and Blue Ventures’ staff around the world. This team integrates expertise and deep practical experience with pragmatism and a desire to enable others to deliver lasting change, by distilling global best practices and knowledge into usable tools, appropriate training, and responsive guidance and support. The team is also responsible for delivering peer learning exchanges and knowledge-sharing events both online and face-to-face across the organisation, in addition to overseeing technical publications.

We are currently recruiting for an exceptional individual to be part of this global team, leading a critical pillar of the strategy on Community-Based Fisheries Management. This individual would oversee the development, refinement, and roll out of tools and training to support partners working with communities around the world as they establish community-based fisheries management and locally managed marine areas. Magic Breakfast is a registered charity that exists to make sure no child or young person is too hungry to learn. JOB PURPOSE 

Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good the Philanthropy team’s role is to develop and deliver the charity's high net worth individual giving programme in line with Magic Breakfast’s strategic priorities to enable our organisational growth against our mission. 

We are seeking to grow income through further cultivation and stewardship of our potential and existing donors. Our High Value Giving teams are forecast to collectively raise £5.1m in 2021/22, up from £4.6m two years ago in 2019/20. The team includes partnerships with charitable trusts and foundations, corporate organisations, and high-net-worth individuals. 

Reporting into the Head of Philanthropy, this role will have a particular focus on ensuring that Magic Breakfast is offering the highest quality of donor care from start to finish, and building and developing our prospect pipeline.

We’re looking for a proactive person with excellent relationship building, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship skills as we seek to build our prospect pool, enhance or supporter journey and achieve our ambitious fundraising targets.

The Philanthropy Manager will have the opportunity to be innovative and creative, to create and test impactful donor journeys and engagement opportunities so Magic Breakfast’s supporters feel valued and can understand the transformational difference they are making to hungry children and their learning in the UK. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

Income generation and donor stewardship and prospect development 

• Manage your own portfolio of donors, providing excellent stewardship and strategies to uplift and secure multi year donations 

• Work with Corporate, Trusts and Individual Giving teams to identify potential major donors and high value regular givers within Magic Breakfast’s donor portfolio and implement plans to develop these relationships; 

• Work with the Head of Philanthropy and Prospect Researcher to build a Philanthropy prospect pipeline 

• Write accurate, inspiring and compelling fundraising propositions and reports for potential and existing major donors

ROTA are seeking an experienced Service Development Manager, to join its team. Help us end systemic racism in Britain!

This role spearheads the development and execution of a strategic plan to dismantle systemic racism within the housing systems, ultimately leading to greater housing equity for Black and Global Majority (BGM) communities.

The position will encompass a multifaceted approach, focusing on Policy & Advocacy, Community Collaboration & Empowerment, and Service Delivery Innovation.

The aim of ROTA’s housing project, funded by the Oak Foundation, is to examine the racial inequities that continue to plague the housing sector. Using a community-based peer research approach, we will put the lived experiences of Black and Global Majority communities who have been affected by insecure housing at the heart of this research, amplifying their voices through dedicated campaigning and advocacy.

We ultimately hope that the findings from this research can be used to formulate meaningful policy and influence practice to help end discriminatory practices in the housing sector.

The Hepatitis C Trust has developed projects nationally whereby peers use their lived experience of injecting drug use and hepatitis C, to provide education and training to service users and staff in drug and alcohol, hostel and homeless services, increasing hepatitis C awareness, access to testing and referral to treatment, for people living with hepatitis C.

Do you have experience of working in drug services and with volunteers? Have you been affected by hepatitis C or have you supported anyone who has hepatitis C? We are looking for a passionate and skilled peer lead who has excellent communication and organisational skills. We require a good standard of education and welcome creativity and innovation in all our work.

Working under the guidance of the West Yorks Peer Programme Manager, this post will continue the development of the project, recruiting and coordinating peers across identified areas of the West Yorkshire ODN network. Working in partnership with hepatitis C clinical teams, drug and alcohol services and homeless service providers, the post will coordinate delivery of educational workshops, hepatitis C testing in community settings, ensure that service users are referred and supported through hepatitis C treatment and care.

This post will require extensive travel across the region and the post holder is required to hold a clean driving licence and have their own vehicle for work related travel.
