About the role
The principal responsibility will be to support our ambition to become a best practice national body and an employer of choice, responsible for the day-to-day management of the HR function within Emmaus UK, as well as the development of our approach to in-house learning and delivery of our new People & EDI Strategy.
The role will be responsible for all aspects of Human Resources at Emmaus UK, overseeing the whole employee lifecycle, from recruitment and induction processes to offboarding and exit interviews.
The postholder will oversee HR processes, reviewing their effectiveness and identifying and embedding improvements to improve the employee experience.
Working with the Director of Resources, the role will be central to the delivery of the strategic objectives with an HR focus, while taking responsibility for the operational HR function to ensure a positive and supportive working environment for the staff team.

The newly created role of HR Manager will sit within the Resources directorate, to support the delivery of key charity and federation-wide objectives, as part of our mission to empower people affected by homelessness and poverty to change their lives for the better while using our voice to achieve social change.

Surrey Community Action exists to support Surrey’s voluntary sector, the diverse communities of Surrey, and other organisations who seek to work with both. We do this in three main ways:

About The Role
To realise our ambitions to provide the best possible support to Surrey’s communities and voluntary sector, we are looking for a Head of Communities and Development that can:
- Help us secure funding for Surrey Community Action’s core activities and projects.
- Develop, support, and inspire a team of project officers to deliver our projects and activities.
- Contribute to the running of the organisation as part of the management team.
- Create and develop projects and services that meet unmet needs in Surrey
- Develop themselves and their role to make an even bigger difference to the people and organisations we support.
Securing Funding
You will help us secure funding for Surrey Community Action’s core activities and projects, working with all staff to prepare high quality funding proposals to Local Authorities, trusts, grant giving bodies, corporate partners and major donors. You will also lead on negotiating renewals of funding and maintaining good working relationships with current commissioners and funders.
You will be comfortable working in collaboration with partners from across the voluntary and statutory sectors, always focusing on making the biggest difference to the people of Surrey.
Leadership and line management
This role looks after some of our community project officers who in turn provide information, advice, guidance, and support to a diverse range of stakeholders, including community buildings, rural housing enablers, Good Neighbours Schemes, Community Champions, Gypsy Roma and Traveller communities, and people in fuel poverty.
You will provide effective line management to our community project officers, focusing on developing them to excel in their roles and broaden their skills, making sure to lead by example and develop yourself alongside them.
Running the Charity
You will form an integral part of the management team, working in tandem with the Chief Executive, management team and Board of Trustees, supporting the charity in strategic leadership, performance management and development our projects and services.
Develop new projects and services
To succeed in this role, you will need to have or build a deep understanding of Surrey’s voluntary sector and communities. You may design and conduct consultations and market research to deepen your knowledge and share it with peers and other stakeholders in ways tailored to our audiences.
The environment in Surrey is complex and changeable, so we are looking for someone who can flex themselves and this role so that Surrey Community Action can do better every day, who can recognise ways we can improve and provide even better support to our stakeholders, from local authorities, to charities and community groups, to individuals in need.

The Nuts and Bolts
Our offices are in Burpham, Surrey (GU4 7HL). This role can be delivered from the office, or as a hybrid role with 2-3 days in the office per week.
You will report directly to the Chief Executive and be responsible for 5-6 project officers. You will be an equal part of our small management team and contribute to our trustee board meetings.
We are committed to continued professional development and will support you to develop your skills even further.
You may have to travel across Surrey and sometimes beyond, so access to transport would be an advantage where public transport is not an option (we can support you into Access to Work scheme as needed).
This is a full-time role (35 hours per week), but that time can be flexible to accommodate family and caring commitments.

The Energy Neighbours Information and Data Manager is responsible for setting up and managing the systems that enable all staff and organisations involved in the project to gather and use information and data. Information and Data Manager works with the Project Manager to make good use of staff and partners time through excellent information systems.

The Information and Data Manager ensures information and data is secure, up to date and used to improve and develop the project.

Recovery Navigator (Mental Health) - Intensive Community Rehabilitation Service

£23,400 per annum

We have been able to diversify our services over recent years resulting in our offer to the citizens of Birmingham being expanded to include prevention and community-based asset services, crisis intervention, a Birmingham and Solihull wide Mental health Helpline as well as workplace wellbeing support.
You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary clinically led Community Intensive Rehabilitation Team within Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust and as such although the service manager employed by Birmingham Mind will be your line manager you will be working as part of an integrated medical and psychology team. You will be working in partnership with people who are experiencing mental health difficulties who are currently living in their own accommodation within the Birmingham area and require a period of intensive rehabilitation. Your support of individuals will be a person-centred recovery approach that focuses on developing, maintaining, and strengthening individuals’ skills, abilities, and personal resilience.
Ideally you will be QCF/NVQ level 3 qualified or have a willingness to work towards this qualification. It is essential that you have an empathy for people experiencing mental health issues and are committed to service user involvement and empowerment. You will have a good understanding of equal opportunities, confidentiality, safeguarding and health & safety.
You will need to be flexible due to the shift patterns which include evenings and weekends. Shift patterns include 9.00am - 5.00pm and 12.00pm to 8.00pm.

The Fundraising Manager is responsible for delivering our fundraising strategy and increasing our income from various income streams.

Oasis Hub Warndon
Full-time (40 hours per week, 1 FTE), Permanent Contract
Salary: £35,217 per annum
Oasis is looking for someone who can combine an entrepreneurial flair and excellent leadership skills to become the next Community Hub Leader supporting the established Hub at Warndon.
The post holder will lead the development of the Hub, situated on the periphery of Worcester City, serving the community of Warndon and the surrounding area, supporting the Oasis Academy and wider local community. The role will hold the vision of integrated community delivery, which will include a range of services such as family support, volunteering, youth mentoring, deliver a food pantry, advice and support, community events and a toddler group.
This is a key role as you will be responsible for strategic oversight of the hub charity, ensuring the youth and community work supports the work of the academy, working alongside other local Oasis leaders such as the Principal to develop one joined up local vision for the Hub.
A significant part of this role will involve fundraising and business development, working with local people to develop and grow the charity and local community movement.
We are looking for an experienced community leader who enjoys project and budget management, but also has a deep understanding of community work. A degree or professional qualification is valued, but we also value extensive relevant experience and being able to demonstrate an embodiment of our ethos and values.

To lead, co-ordinate, manage and expand our Community Wellbeing Team services for children and families and to ensure the smooth running of these services. To jointly oversee the delivery of services from the Phoenix Youth Centre by YMCA East Surrey and by other partner organisations.
Service Management & Development
• To develop, oversee and expand existing service provision to meet the requirements of the EWMH services contract with Surrey Wellbeing Partnership. Services will be designed around the iThrive framework to deliver information, advice and early intervention for children, young people and families. They will build on existing YMCA East Surrey services.
• To work with the EWMH Manager to develop and implement a business plan across community services.
• To manage a team of practitioners and an office administrator, including carrying out regular one-to-ones, annual appraisals, setting objectives and development and training.
• To be the first point of operational contact for the Community Wellbeing Team, including supporting practitioners with risk management and reporting.
• To work collaboratively and effectively with partners across the Surrey Wellbeing Partnership and Mindworks Alliance to keep up to date on and respond to local and emerging needs, to take referrals or refer on/signpost and to share good practice.
• To promote and publicise the Community Wellbeing Team and EWMH services among relevant agencies, referrers, service users and potential service users.
• To manage administration linked to the recruitment and induction of new staff.
Service Delivery/Administration
• To manage referrals into the Community Wellbeing Team and ensure that appropriate data is recorded accurately and kept up to date.
• To liaise with families and other professionals about referrals and service provision.
• To jointly oversee the Phoenix Youth Centre so that it is staffed and appropriately maintained to support delivery of both YMCA East Surrey services and services delivered by other organisations.
• To report to and liaise with the EWMH Manager regarding the delivery of the service. • To ensure that client complaints are investigated and dealt with appropriately.
• To work with the EWMH Manager to identify and manage safeguarding and other risks and to liaise with the Designated Safeguarding Lead in line with YMCA East Surrey protocols and team operational process.
• To contribute to the development and delivery of training and parent/carer workshops as and when required.
Service Monitoring & Evaluation
• To set up and maintain appropriate record keeping systems in line with data protection requirements.
• To ensure service outcomes and outputs are effectively monitored and evaluated and prepare service statistics in conjunction with EWMH Manager and Mindworks Delivery Manager.
• To produce reports on activity, impact and outcomes plus provide input to the wider YMCA East Surrey Annual Impact Report.
• To produce client case studies for internal and external communication purposes.
Other
Occasional evening work required (with a corresponding later start time or possibility to claim time off in lieu).
• Any other duties are required to be performed within the grade and renumeration of the role.
