About Victoria Hall Harrow
The Victoria Hall Harrow charity started in 1888, with the aim of building a high quality venue for the people of Harrow to come together and to build community. Since then our venue Victoria Hall has been rebuilt twice, most recently reopening to the public in Summer 2021. We also created a new charity some years back (a CIO), transferring the assets of the old charity over. For this reason our Charity Commission listing below is not representative of our current financial position and our assets.
For around 140 years Victoria Hall has provided space for rent to local residents and groups. It has been used for every possible purpose - parties, events, activities, conferences and much more.
More recently the trustee board have embarked on a renewed strategy process, and we are now relaunching the charity as a partnership-first community centre, that identifies local needs and uses our assets to best meet those needs, working with a wide range of partners to serve the local diverse communities.
In June 2024 we agreed our new Vision and Mission. We are still now working through the overall draft of our strategy, which we will be happy to share with you as soon as it is ready in 1st draft form.

Role Summary
As our first CEO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Victoria Hall. You will be responsible for leading the organisation through this exciting transition, working closely with the Board of Trustees, staff, partners, and the wider community. The charity is in a solid financial position, which will enable us with the correct leadership in place to make real progress in our Vision and Mission. Our premises are new and extremely high quality, and very well located. There is a serious lack of high quality community space in Harrow, and we know already that there is significant demand and interest from a whole range of groups who serve the local diverse community.
You will lead us in identifying what the most important and pressing needs are in our local community, and how best to meet those using our resources. You will create effective and impactful partnerships with local residents, community groups and charities, plus businesses and the statutory sector, to meet the needs identified.

You'll manage your own diary with a mix of working from home, office and out with our customers.
This is a full time permanent role with a starting salary of £30,000 to £35,000 depending on your experience.

Role Purpose

THE ROLE
The Fundraising Manager will be responsible for leading the London team’s overall fundraising strategy and activities. The role requires the postholder to motivate and support their team, and ensure regional and individual fundraising targets are met, in alignment with Islamic Help’s fundraising strategy. The Role
They are looking for a technically minded management accountant with an interest, or experience, in the renewable energy sector. This new post will take on a range of responsibilities within a successful and growing community business, including financial reporting, financial planning, debt financing and budget management. To carry out this work you will meet women in the community in your designated borough and co-locate with other agencies including the National Probation Service, as well as regularly attending Advance’s North London vibrant Women’s Centre/office space.
You will be a creative self-starter who will support the service and look for innovative solutions to support clients with complex needs. You are confident professional relationship builder and has good awareness of Safeguarding procedures. Strong Administration skills and understanding of compliant behaviours also experience of supporting. With good knowledge of the criminal justice system and awareness of other support provisions.

Main Purpose of Job

- Deliver the following reporting in a timely and efficient manner:

- Evaluate and review new projects and new funding applications of funding in a timely manner, providing financial analysis as required.

- Work with Management and Trustees to develop a recently formed trading subsidiary which will become responsible for some existing and new revenue streams. This will require working with legal and tax advisors as necessary.

About the role
The Finance Director (“FD”) will oversee the financial activities of the charity and will be responsible for overseeing the charity’s finances and finance team, driving financial planning and managing financial risks.
The FD will need to have the ability and confidence to apply judgement and leadership skills to make sure that the charity executes strategies and plans in a timely and thorough manner.
This is a 12-month contract starting Autumn 2024, ideally 20 hours/week, but we would consider other working patterns for the right candidate.
The permanent FD role is subject to a genuine occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a practising Christian due to our ethos and the strategic nature of the role however, given the temporary nature of this appointment, we have removed the requirement, although still desirable.
