More than one in four children is growing up in poverty in the UK. It doesn’t have to be this way. If you have a track record in trusts fundraising and believe in tackling social and economic injustice, then you could play an important role in helping Child Poverty Action Group deliver on its mission.
CPAG’s grant income from trusts, foundations, and some statutory income has grown significantly to nearly £2 million annually. The Trusts Fundraiser will work with the Head of Fundraising to expand the pipeline, raise restricted and unrestricted grant income, and build relations with funders.
You will have outstanding communication skills, a highly organised approach to work, strong self-motivation and enjoy working in a small team.
We understand that many people, especially people who identify as women, people from ethnic minority backgrounds or from other underrepresented groups, only apply for jobs when they believe they match all the criteria. If you don’t meet all the criteria in the person specification and want to play a role in helping to tackle UK child poverty, please consider applying.
We operate a hybrid working system and would be happy to discuss any flexibilities required. CPAG is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion which you can read more about in the job pack.

We challenge conventional development programmes by taking a business-based approach that ensures long term sustainability and impact for the communities we work with. Clean water results in better health, increases educational attainment and reduces inequality for women and girls across Malawi.
To support our mission we are recruiting a Communications and Fundraising Officer to help deliver on our ambitious growth plans to reach 2 million people by 2030. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated person with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who can plan and create compelling communications to increase awareness of our work and engage new and existing supporters. Furthermore, you will lead on key areas of our fundraising strategy including annual fundraising campaigns, individual giving and small trusts and foundations.

- You will develop and manage a schedule of compelling communications across a number of channels including social media, web and print that will grow engagement with Beyond Water’s mission.
- You will support the Head of Development to pitch to social impact and philanthropic investors by finding creative ways to differentiate ourselves from traditional approaches to international development.
- You will take responsibility for managing and administrating fundraising income, using Salesforce CRM to keep up to date records of donations, keeping donors updated through regular reports and leveraging annual campaigns including the Big Give Christmas Campaign to maximise individual giving donations.
- Maximise the value and duration of donor support through excellent stewardship and relationship management.
- While office hours are notionally 9:00am to 5:30pm, the demands of a business focussed on Africa, with donors in the UK, USA, Europe and Asia mean a degree of flexibility is required.

Important note about completing your application – please read
When submitting the application, you will be asked to submit your CV and answer four competency-based questions. There’s no specified length for the answers and we ask you to use your judgment to balance between giving us as much information as needed and being succinct. Only applications that answer the questions will be considered. We’ll not consider answers which say ‘Please see the CV’ or similar. The scoring is primarily based on the answers to the competency-based questions, so please ensure that you showcase your skills and experiences fully through those answers.
The purpose of having those questions in the application process is to assess your skills and suitability for the role. Therefore, we would ask that you answer the questions on your own without use of aids like generative AI as much as possible. We recognise that neurodivergent people and people with some other characteristics can benefit from use of AI, so we don’t prohibit it entirely, but ask you to do it wisely and show as much of your talent as possible in your work so we can choose the best candidate for the role which will help us greatly to deliver our vision and mission.
