About us

Who we are

Cirencester Foodbank was formed in 2012, It supports around 210 square miles, covering the southern section of the Cotswold District. We work to support local people who are referred to us in crisis and ensure that no-one goes hungry by providing three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food. Alongside the food we also provide other essentials such as household, hygiene, baby and pet products.

Our work also involves developing initiatives, and providing support, that resolve the underlying crisis that has led local people to need foodbank support. Working in partnership with other agencies, organisations , groups and Churches, we work to end the need for foodbanks in the South Cotswolds.

We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Our culture and values

Our vision is a future where no one needs to use a foodbank

In order to achieve this goal we work:

  • To ensure that nobody in our community should go hungry.
  • To give food, support and advice to those in need.
  • To work with local partners to understand better the causes of food poverty in our community, and how collectively we can address those causes.
  • To create more public awareness about the causes of, and solutions, to this issue.

In line with the values of the charity we commit to:

  • Treat everyone with honesty, respect and compassion
  • Ensure we are caring, inclusive and just
  • Act with integrity in all that we do
  • Honour the right to privacy and dignity of those in need

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

The food bank is committed to encouraging and promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of work with us, including recruitment, selection, and training.

We believe everyone has the right to work for the foodbank and we will always seek to encourage and recruit from wide and varied backgrounds. Where possible & reasonable we will make suitable adaptations to our processes and procedures to facilitate this.
