Your new role
Lead the process for the production and approval of all consolidated internal and external reporting and statutory accounts.Lead the VAT and Corporation tax accounting and reporting process and the relationship with external tax advisors (VAT and corporation tax)
Manage the treasury function and oversee all investment fund management and balance sheet reconciliation.
Develop and maintain financial policies, controls, systems, and processes and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the group's finances and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified accountant with experience in the following areas:
- Experience of producing or auditing group financial statements.
- Happy to consider applications from candidates coming straight from practice with experience of auditing charities.
- We will also consider experienced technical accountants who have worked in similar previous roles.
- Reporting and consolidation responsibility for a group.
- Staff management.

Role Purpose:
The main purpose of the CEO is to provide inspirational leadership to NUM and ensure long term sustainability through innovation, strategic planning, effective governance, funding, and sound delivery of services. The CEO will take a lead role in the national policy advocacy work NUM carries out to achieve its objectives.

Job Profile
This role is responsible for ensuring that CAFOD has strong, well researched and robust policy positions across our core advocacy areas, including – but not limited to - climate, debt, food systems and aid. You will work with programmes colleagues to ensure CAFOD’s policy positions are strongly rooted in the experience of our overseas partners and promotes their voices and perspectives. This post will also provide support and advice to our international programmes on advocacy development, research and monitoring.
This role will also work closely with colleagues across UK Advocacy, Campaigns, Government Relations and Media to ensure CAFOD has credible advocacy plans which are effectively influencing decision-makers.
The post holder will be responsible for line managing four policy posts and will be managed by the Director of Advocacy and Communications
Key Responsibilities
Ensure CAFOD’s policy and advocacy work is robust and rooted in the experience of our partners and provide support to international partners.
- Support the development of key policy positions across our advocacy areas and ensure these are developed strategically and take in to account the experience of our partners, Catholic Social Teaching and current political trends, both in the UK and domestically.
- Work cross-organisationally to help develop and deliver advocacy plans which are well targeted towards the appropriate decision makers.
- Working closely with relevant policy leads, take the lead on signing off public policy positions, statements and external briefs directed towards decision makers.
- Provide oversight of CAFOD’s policy positions and advocacy plans, ensuring consistency and balancing priorities to enable us to deliver across different thematic areas.
- Work as part of the International Programme Leadership Team (IPLT) and its individual members to ensure strong links with the international programme and provide guidance, expertise and support for advocacy work across CAFODs programmes. Especially in support of our aim of local leadership and equitable partnerships.
- Work closely with international teams on the delivery of the Global Advocacy Programme on Food Systems and Land.
- Provide policy advice to the Director of CAFOD and other Executive members.
Work closely with other Teams to bring about change through CAFODs advocacy work.

- Manage four members of staff: the Lead Economist, Lead Analysts on Food Systems, Climate and the Food Systems and Business and Human Rights Adviser.
- Ensure that the different policy areas are working as closely as appropriate with clear objectives and timelines and monitoring mechanisms.
- Efficiently and effectively manage the budget and grants including planning, forecasting, monitoring and reporting
- Manage internal reporting on KPI’s, organisational outcomes and advocacy strategies to the Exec and Board.

Person Specification
- Proven experience of working on policy development and implementation with a good understanding of how UK government departments work
- Experience of working with UK government officials and elected representatives.
- Experience of successfully running advocacy campaigns that have resulted in meaningful policy change, preferably on international issues.
- Good understanding and experience of working with partners overseas, developing advocacy and research projects with them.
- Good knowledge of the UK and international political arena and events, and an understanding of how to influence change.
- Understanding of the Catholic church and knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching.
- Excellent inter-personal skills with experience of working with multiple external stakeholders, and as part of a team.

ROLE SUMMARY:
This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and analytical Individual Giving Officer to develop your fundraising career in the international development sector. You will work closely with our Head of Fundraising to build, expand and retain our donor base following a very successful 2024. With a focus on supporter acquisition and stewardship, you will utilise data and market insight to support campaigns, enhance supporter engagement, and organise donor events to achieve ambitious income targets. You will also work with the organisation’s Head of Partnerships on crucial corporate relationships.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
#1: Individual Giving (30% of Time):
- With support from the Head of Fundraising, create and manage cross-channel Individual Giving campaigns.
- Manage a stewardship plan for Individual Giving supporters, acting as the point of contact for donors and focusing on retention.
- Work with the Head of Fundraising on acquisition activities across the donor spectrum, onboarding new supporters.
#2: Major and Mid Value Donor Pipeline (20% of Time):
- Qualify Mid Value supporters and Major Donors through a managed donor pipeline, identifying high-potential prospects and nurturing relationships.
- Collaborate with the Head of Fundraising to develop targeted engagement plans for Mid Value and Major Donors across the year.
- Work with the Head of Fundraising on targeted asks and proposals for both audiences.
- Help manage group initiatives for these audiences, such as the existing Right To Play Playmakers and Champions supporter networks.
#3: Donor Events (10% of Time):
- Plan and coordinate donor events alongside the Head of Fundraising, handling logistics and post-event follow-up to strengthen supporter relationships.
#4: Additional Support – Corporate Partnerships (20% of Time):
- Prospect potential corporate partners, including from Mid and Major Value Donors.
- Relationship-manage a modest caseload of corporate supporters.
#5. Supporter Insight and Cross-Department Collaboration (15% of Time):
- Utilise Mission CRM (supporter database) to record and support fundraising related transactions and activities.

Bringing the Mast Cell Activation Syndrome community together
Our client is a small UK rare disease charity. Our client established at the end of 2015 to respond to Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). MCAS is a crippling, unpredictable and frightening condition affecting the immune system. Sufferers from MCAS have “wrongly programmed” immune systems that react to a wide range of triggers including food, drink, stress, temperature and many others. The effects range from unpleasant allergic reactions, through to an overall debilitation resulting in people being unable to leave their houses. It was first recognised internationally in 1990, with a set of diagnostic criteria agreed in 2011, but is little known or understood in the UK, where incidence seems to be increasing. Here patients can wait 3-5 years for a diagnosis, often receive very little knowledge or help from within the medical establishment and can find themselves in a frightening limbo.
Their mission is to provide support for MCAS patients & their families; to bring the MCAS community together and create a cohesive voice; to lobby for awareness, universally available diagnosis and the best possible care for MCAS patients; and to inspire increased research into mast cell activation and related conditions, to improve understanding and treatment.

Development of new Trust Partnerships (50%)

We are looking for a maternity cover for our Trust & Foundations Manager role. Passionate about Trust Fundraising at a high level and about UNHCR’s work, this role is involved in the cultivation and stewardship of some our biggest and most established trust and foundation donors.
You will join our small but talented Philanthropy Team supporting on identifying and bringing on board new and prospective trust and foundation supporters, and securing repeat income from key relationships.

The team had a successful 2024 financial year, and this role will build on the momentum gained from the success across new business and account management.
The key objective will be driving new business forward to ensure the team secures income from the private sector. In doing so, this will enable War Child to reach more children in conflict zones and the organisation to have the flexible funding needed to maintain stability and growth.
Reporting to the Head of Partnerships, this role will drive partnership development in the team, using creativity, initiative and innovation to seek out and secure new partnerships in the UK and global markets.
Partnerships are always creative and bespoke, allowing freedom within the role and ensuring maximum success through truly mutually beneficial partnerships. This position will line manage the Partnerships Executive who will support on new business pipeline development, proposal development and approaches.
The team is close and non-hierarchical. Everyone in the team contributes to strategic planning, partnership development, and good ideas will always be explored.
Who we are looking for
We seek a creative, proactive candidate who is eager to develop new partnerships with the private sector and, most importantly, is passionate about supporting children living through conflict.
You will be motivated by all stages of the cultivation journey and bring experience in research and proactively building a pipeline of new business prospects.
Experience in securing partnerships, both commercial and strategic, would be beneficial for this role.

As the StreetDoctors lead for the Region, you will provide leadership in partnership development, volunteer management, the delivery of training and maintaining quality standards.

About this job:
As a Mass Participation Officer, you will:
- Plan and implement the delivery of assigned mass participation events within your portfolio.
- Deliver marketing plans to raise awareness and drive sign ups to events, hitting or exceeding targets set for each event.
- Build supporter journeys that steward those who take part in your events to increase retention and engagement and build brand loyalty throughout.
- Contribute to the development of existing and new events within the mass participation programme.
- Responsible for budget management and accurate financial reporting for events in their portfolio.
About You:
With experience of working on large-scale mass participation campaigns, you will be passionate about developing excellent stewardship journeys and communications to supporters. With a good understanding data monitoring, collection and analysis you will have experience in project management and delivery, particularly within an events portfolio. We are looking for a creative thinker, with strong problem-solving skills to drive growth in this newly established role. You will have experience managing budgets and reporting on income and ROI.
