The Domestic Abuse Marginalised Communities Worker will provide support and interventions to those affected by domestic abuse to empower and support and break the cycle of domestic abuse throughout their journey with Stop Domestic Abuse, regardless of risk. The Navigator will be committed to family work and proactively work to recognise and implement solution focused actions to ensure eradicate domestic abuse from families lives.

The Domestic Abuse Marginalised Communities Worker will provide additional expertise to the wider team and enrich the service with specialist knowledge and guidance relating to victims who may experience additional barriers to accessing support from our service due to their ethnicity. The Lead Navigator will develop initiatives, workshops and training packages for both internal and external professionals. The role will encompass peer to peer support, direct one-to-one support to victims who may be at medium or high risk of harm, whilst also engaging with communities and local organisations in the local area to improve our response to domestic abuse. This role does not involve the line management of staff.

The Portsmouth Service operates as one team, and all staff are responsible for taking referrals for all aspects of the service, offering immediate support, advice and assessments to clients or people contacting the service, welcoming families into refuge and completing relevant paperwork, and ensuring the smooth running of the service.  This will include providing cover when required for absent colleagues to ensure that the core functions of the service are delivered and responding to changing demand in service provision. The Portsmouth Service is a team committed to whole family work, when safe to do safe, creating a family journey through the service.

The Portsmouth Service is staffed 9am-9pm Monday to Friday and 10am-6pm Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. This role’s working pattern will fall within the hours of 9am-5pm Monday- Friday.

It is essential that the postholder has a driving licence and access to a car for work purposes as this role covers multiple sites in Portsmouth.

 

The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) is looking for an Examiner Engagement and Support Coordinator to ensure our examiners feel empowered, valued, and supported in their critical contributions to our exams.

The RCR is a professional membership body for Doctors who work in cancer care and medical imaging. Our examiners are clinical oncologists, clinical radiologists and other specialists, who work voluntarily as contributors developing exam questions, delivering assessments to candidates and shaping the future of FRCR exams. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that the clinical expertise needed to run the RCR’s exams is available via both UK and global examiners.

The postholder will have strong people skills with the ability to build good relationships, excellent communication and organisational skills will be key to your success. The post holder will be the first point of contact for potential new, and existing, examiners and will work closely with exam chairs and across all exam boards and committees, ensuring that examiners have the tools they need to deliver as an examiner alongside their clinical commitments, including alleviating any pain points. Examiner recruitment and coordinating induction and training - plus the set-up of meetings, events and panels - will form part of the workload.

As our Examiner Engagement and Support Coordinator you will deliver real value to those doctors who give up their valuable time to work with us. 

What you’ll do:

• Write and update engaging examiner recruitment materials such as terms of reference, job descriptions, scoring criteria and advertising communication.
• Actively promote examiner recruitment to UK and global audiences, including drafting text and ensuring that promotional recruitment materials are relevant and engaging.
• Build and develop mechanisms to communicate with examiners, ensuring they feel included in the work of both the exams team and the wider college.
• Support examiners with travel and accommodation bookings where necessary, in collaboration with the RCR’s appointed travel agent and the RCR’s Facilities function.
• Support committees by managing the logistical support for meetings and preparing quality agendas.

What you’ll need:

• Experience in providing administrative support and managing administrative processes, systems and procedures.
• Experience in financial administration, including the compiling of financial spreadsheets and monitoring budgets.
• Experience of committee procedures and processes, including preparing agendas and recording accurate actions.
• Experience using and maintaining a database or equivalent to store and retrieve information so that information is kept up to date and available

Community Project Coordinator

Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week (0.6 Full-Time Equivalent)

About the Role

In this strategic post as the Community and Business Development Manager for Essex you will play a key role in overseeing our existing work and also contributing to the development of future work within the region. You will directly manage the delivery of our community based projects, specifically the Heart of Greenstead and VCS capacity building, liaising closely with all key partners involved in the work, and representing the organisation in a wide range of system settings. You will play a vital role to ensure that the organisation’s contractual obligations and goals are achieved by collaborating with communities and partner organisations in the design and delivery of interventions to promote active citizenship. Main Duties

1. Responsible for building strong relationships and developing working partnerships across a wide range of local stakeholders with the aim of developing new business opportunities in conjunction with the Regional Manager.

2. To plan, develop and deliver high quality programmes, projects and interventions and ensuring all are in line with the overall strategy and objectives of the organisation and that meet contractual obligations.

3. To work closely with the funding team and the regional manager to develop new funding bids in line with opportunities created through partnerships and business development.

7. Keep abreast of new and emergent thinking across wellbeing, community development and tackling inequalities as well as innovation and leadership in this field of work. Work collaboratively with partners from across the area to develop new innovation and interventions in line with the emergent opportunities.

8. Play a key role in monitoring and evaluation plans, through collecting, analysing and sharing data (quantitative and qualitative) working with the TAWS Data & Insight team.

Knowledge, Skills and Experiences

1. Good communication skills and engagement with communities with proven previous community engagement and delivery experience

2. Awareness of funding opportunities with experience of project and bid development as well as Experience in sub-contractor management

3. Experience in facilitation and training, providing advice and guidance and consultancy experience

The main purpose of this role is to deliver clear, accurate and valuable guidance to community organisations on renewable energy technologies, business models and project development processes at various scales. This support may range from advising on sustainable options for community buildings to assisting in the development of larger renewable energy projects, such as wind turbines and solar farms.

Pay and conditions

• The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week).
• The salary for the role will be £34,788 - £38,229 per year

Specific responsibilities

• Deliver engaging training to local and community stakeholders on renewable energy, heat and (potentially) storage technologies.

• Work with community actors to develop and deliver pro-active local engagement processes that build informed consent and support for renewables within their wider community.
• Support community organisations to plan and deliver sites for development, assisting them to undertake basic options, appraisals, and commission specialist feasibility and other necessary studies.
• Provide input and guidance to help identify and secure funding and finance for project development and implementation.
• Facilitate learning, networking, and sharing between local and community organisations, staff and volunteers, including connecting networks, organisations and individuals to progress ideas.
• Support CSE’s fundraising activities and the development of new models and approaches for the provision of renewable energy, heat projects, and services at the local and community scale.
• Champion to key stakeholders (such as local authorities and funders) the roles which local and community organisations can play in catalysing and enabling renewable energy and local energy projects.
• Foster collaboration and deepening relationships with partners and other organisations who are active and interested in supporting similar areas of work. This might include local authorities, community organisations, community energy organisations, third sector organisations, developers, funders, investors and key supply chain actors.

Essential attributes for this role include:

• Have experience and knowledge of developing and/or delivering heat, renewable energy, or storage projects, including larger standalone renewables projects.

When someone sustains a spinal cord injury, it is a life changing experience.

Back Up’s Regional Outreach and Engagement team are the very face of the organisation and are based across the UK, working directly with spinal cord injury centres, major trauma centres and hospitals – or indeed anywhere that people affected by spinal cord injury may be.

As a Regional Coordinator, you will build relationships and take ownership for what happens in your geographical area. As someone affected by spinal cord injury themselves, you will be providing peer support to newly injured people in a clinical setting, facilitating wheelchair skills sessions, making referrals for ongoing support, and supporting volunteers and fundraisers. Back Up’s Regional Outreach and Engagement team are the very face of the organisation and are based across the UK, working directly with spinal cord injury centres, major trauma centres and hospitals – or indeed anywhere that people affected by spinal cord injury may be.

As a Regional Coordinator, you will build relationships and take ownership for what happens in your geographical area. As someone affected by spinal cord injury themselves, you will be providing peer support to newly injured people in a clinical setting, facilitating wheelchair skills sessions, making referrals for ongoing support, and supporting volunteers and fundraisers. As Head of Fundraising & Engagement, you will play a key role in developing a cohesive fundraising, communications, and engagement strategy to secure sustainable income and elevate our profile. School of Hard Knocks (SOHK) is a charity that exists to empower and support children who are struggling to thrive in their education. By fostering an environment of genuine acceptance and through the use of physical activity and group and one-to-one support sessions, SOHK enables people to find meaning and purpose to life. All of SOHK's activities are underpinned by an evidence based sport for development framework called the 5Cs.

OVERVIEW

School of Hard Knocks is embarking on an ambitious new 3-year fundraising strategy that will see us more than double our income and increase our audience reach so we can support more young people to complete their education and reach their potential. We have not yet proactively explored challenge events or community fundraising and yet we believe this could be an exciting growth area for the charity. We currently run one special event a year, but again, we see opportunity to grow our calendar of special and donor engagement events.

The purpose of this role is to build challenge and special event and community fundraising to support the delivery of our ambitious fundraising strategy. You will be an enthusiastic fundraiser, focused on building growth in our events portfolio and bringing creativity and events knowledge to the role. You will develop excellent relationships with our donors and corporate partners who engage in our events, supporting them to maximise their fundraising for the charity.

You will need to use your experience, creativity and proven event planning skills to ensure the success of our ambitious plans for achieving an effective events calendar for the charity.

This is a maternity cover contract with the potential to extend after the initial 12 months.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Events Fundraising:

• Work to achieve the Fundraising strategy by effectively initiating and delivering a calendar of challenge and special events suitable for our audiences across the UK, that will drive audience reach and income, focusing on delivering a good return on investment and achieving set objectives.
• Develop excellent donor journeys for all participants and attendees, putting in place effective and efficient processes and procedures.
• Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to design and implement appropriate marketing strategies to maximise participation for all events including pre-, during- and post-event publicity.
• With support from the Communications team, develop timely social media content and achieve local media coverage by gathering compelling supporter stories.
• Ensure all supporter records are kept up to date with all interactions and the highest quality data is captured.
• Effectively follow all appropriate protocols and policies for the handling and receipting of donations and sponsorship monies and accurate recording of supporter information. Ensure all information is recorded in line with data protection legislation (GDPR).
• Work with the wider Fundraising and Communications Team to ensure a seamless donor experience for all and optimise cross-selling opportunities where appropriate.
• Monitor progress against set KPIs, report analysis of challenge events to the Director of Fundraising and review performance to ensure effectiveness. Provide relevant data and insight to inform next steps and plans for future growth.

Community Fundraising:

• Work with the Director of Fundraising to devise and implement an annual fundraising plan for community fundraising.
• Work with the Regional Fundraising Managers to maximise opportunities for Community fundraising in the areas we work in.
• Steward all community fundraising activities in England, ensuring our supporters have all the information and materials they need to make their events a success.
• Proactively seek new community partnership opportunities. Liaise with relevant members of staff to attend new business meetings and write compelling cases for support to win local community partnerships.

Other:

• Deliver safe fundraising events and activities ensuring the charity always operates within legal requirements and best practice. Ensure risk assessments are completed on events.
• Be willing and flexible to work outside of office hours to attend events, when necessary. Must be willing to travel around the UK on occasions to attend fundraising events and activities.
• Foster effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders including Corporate Social Responsibility Managers, Chairs & Trusties, senior volunteers and event coordinators.
• Represent the Charity’s Mission by speaking passionately about the charity to donors, and delivering presentations and talks on occasions, inspiring them to join in our mission to make a difference.
• Proactively seek out new opportunities for the charity to grow our income.
• Always work to collaborate across teams to enhance fundraising efforts and strengthen donor engagement.
• Assist in developing fundraising strategies and contribute innovative ideas.

ABOUT YOU

Knowledge & Experience:

• Fundraising Expertise: A proven track record of achieving financial targets through fundraising activities, ideally in mass participation and/or special events.
• Relationship Management: Demonstrable experience in building and nurturing strong relationships with a wide variety of individuals – ranging from community fundraisers to senior volunteers or senior-level corporate executives - to drive engagement and income. Skilled in identifying, establishing, and retaining new supporters, with a focus on effective supporter care and stewardship.
• Digital Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of CRM systems and relevant digital platforms to manage supporter data, track engagement, and enhance communication strategies. Experience using digital tools to streamline processes and optimise fundraising outcomes.
• Fundraising legalities and health and safety. Demonstrable understanding of Fundraising legalities and requirements to hosting a safe fundraising event for all. Excellent understanding of GDPR and integrity in data handling and management.

Skills:

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills to recruit and retain supporters, with experience in creating engaging presentations and delivering public speeches to diverse audiences.
• Teamwork and Independence: Confident and self-motivated, able to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, with strong interpersonal skills.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

• This is an interim role, for 12 months from January 2025.
• The salary is £30,000 - 32,000 depending on experience.
• You will get 25 days annual leave per year plus UK National Holidays. Also, we give any normal working days between Christmas and New Year as additional holidays.
• Reasonable flexible working arrangement offered, but you must have the ability to work outside of core hours and travel across the UK when necessary.
