Job Summary
Work as a team to support the Diocese of London in safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults in line with both UK legislation and House of Bishops Guidance. Responds well to safeguarding allegations and concerns, management of risk and making the church a safer place in line with the Church of England National Safeguarding Standards.
Job responsibilities
Casework

Respond to concerns and allegations of harm, working with statutory agencies; and protection of those who work with children and vulnerable adults in line of the House of Bishops Guidance.

Acting as a contact point for those in church and statutory agencies, provide advice on all safeguarding matters, ensuring the DST is operating in line with the law, government guidance and national practice guidance from the House of Bishops. Ensure that safeguarding procedures are carried out throughout the process, with appropriate liaison with statutory agencies.

Ensure appropriate support for alleged victims and their families and respondents and their families, throughout an investigation and thereafter.

Maintain practices standards in all case work, ensuring five key principles underpin all adult safeguarding work, human rights and have due regard to mental capacity and acting in the best interests of those in need of support. Supporting practice and policy development around case management safeguarding processes.

Work with individuals who come to our attention to ensure appropriate risk assessment and risk management plans to set boundaries within a church setting; for those who are convicted of an offence, or where there are continuing unresolved concerns regarding risks to others.

Work with statutory agencies, including attending appropriate strategy meetings, case conferences as arranged by statutory agencies or requested by the Casework Manager or Head of Safeguarding.

Ensure that referrals to the DBS for barring from work with children or vulnerable adults and reports to the Charities Commission are submitted in line with statutory guidance.

Ensure that the Bishop of London, area Bishop, Archdeacon and Head of Safeguarding and Case Work Manager are always informed when an allegation of abuse is made against a church officer. To manage case work within legal parameters and in line with the House of Bishops Guidelines.
General

Provide professional safeguarding advice and undertake pro-active relationship management to ensure parishes and worshipping communities are aware of their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding children and adults who may be at risk of abuse or neglect; to keep them abreast of policy and practice developments.

Under the direction of the Safer Churches Programme Manager to undertake strategic safeguarding projects and improvement work including polices and projects in line with identified business needs and operational plans. Developing initiatives to support the effective implementation across your designated area in order to ensure excellent safeguarding practices across the Diocese.

Essential

A social work qualification recognised by the Health and Care Professional Council, or a similar qualification in a related area/profession, or experience.

Responsibilities

About the role

You be primarily responsible for developing, marketing and managing individual giving together with working across other fundraising disciplines. You will be a key member of the fundraising team, producing compelling fundraising communications, stewarding individual donors, including regular donors and gifts in memory. The Individual Giving programme will incorporate one-off donations, regular giving, digital fundraising, appeals and in-memory giving. You will do this, with the support of their recently appointed fundraising agency, who you will manage the relationship with week by week.
Key Responsibilities:
• Day-to-day management of the regular giving programme, project managing appeals and overseeing the thanking process for individual donors.
• Create, plan, deliver and evaluate multi-channel, compliant, insight-led, supporter-centric campaigns to engage and drive action from new and existing supporters.
• Manage our newly appointed fundraising agency, and in doing so, help deliver an ambitious appeal programme and income target.
• Review and develop operational plans for individual giving (including regular giving, in memory, digital fundraising and appeals) working to achieve agreed targets.
• Communicate and document key performance indicators across individual giving appeals. Ensuring you provide commentary to accompany results reporting, drawing on insights and the wider picture to add context and make recommendations from your learnings.

What will you be doing?
We are looking to recruit a committed individual to support the delivery and development of our criminal justice practice work, with a focus on women’s justice. This is an exciting opportunity where the successful applicant will be actively contributing to the design and delivery of our expanding women in justice area of focus within the Centre.
The role will primarily support our work to expand and enhance community justice for women. This means working in partnership with statutory partners such as police, probation, the judiciary and court staff, as well as 3rd sector organisations including women’s centres to support evidence-led practice.
The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting our women’s problem-solving court network. This will involve (i) identifying and convening practitioners and others who are interested in women’s problem-solving approaches; (ii) facilitating and delivering training and practice sharing workshops; and (iii) developing briefings and toolkits that support the spread of good practice.
Problem-solving courts are specialist courts that focus on addressing the underlying issues and problems that drive offending behaviour. They specialise in a specific set of issues or around a specific target group, such as women with multiple unmet needs. They operate with multi-agency teams to provide tailored interventions and supervision, combining this with judicial monitoring, where individuals regularly appear before the same judge to review their progress.
The Practice Officer will also support us to expand our reach in Out Of Court Resolutions (OOCRs) and pre-court diversion, working directly with police and other agencies to develop or improve their gender-responsive diversion schemes.

Worcester College, University of Oxford, is recruiting for the key, senior role of Alumni Engagement Manager to be part of its Development and Alumni Relations team of seven. This is a vital role as we seek to deepen and expand connections with the College’s alumni community. The Alumni Engagement Manager will be responsible for the development and delivery of an alumni and supporter engagement strategy which aims to build relationships with alumni and donors to lead to greater involvement with the College through the giving of funds, time and expertise. The Alumni Engagement Manager also plays a vital role in ensuring donors to the College have a strong sense and knowledge of the positive impact of their generosity, so that their philanthropic giving to Worcester is a meaningful, enjoyable and positive experience.
This is a senior role requiring a proven track record in managing highly effective alumni relations or similar membership programmes, including strong events and communications experience. The role requires the drive and creativity to use events and communications skills to deliver an innovative engagement programme. Our partner is seeking a Project Finance Officer to join a close knit finance team, within an impactful international charity. The role in addition to having a focus on financial processing & accounting, has a significant focus on business partnering and providing support to country offices.
Responsibilities
- Supporting country office staff with their finance data inputting, ensuring that these are accurate and complete; monitoring their cashflow, managing funding requests and processing intercompany invoices, reviewing and analysing bank and balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting with processing payroll.

Requirements
- Astute individual, with a degree in or studying towards an accounting qualification such as ACA, CIMA or ACCA, and interested in a career in international charity finance.
- Strong technical background and understanding of double entry bookkeeping and data entry, strong attention to detail.
- Experience in developing systems, working with complex consolidation systems, and on grants financial management is desirable.

The aim of our InterAction project is to support asylum seekers, refugees and migrants to make informed decisions and overcome the difficulties they are facing and integrate successfully into their communities in the North East. We provide support through trained caseworkers, many of whom are volunteers with lived experience of the immigration system and are fluent in multiple languages. Our Governance Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all governance work, providing support to the Board, CEO and Executive Team in all matters relating to governance and in particular for the Board and Committee meetings.
You’ll ensure that transactional activities are accurately completed within specified timeframes and co-ordinate all committees of the YHA Board and advise on and implement good governance practice.

What will you be doing?
- Lead and advising on all matters relating to governance including the constitution, memorandum and articles of association, standing orders and codes of conduct, including leading the implementation of any changes agreed by the Board.
- Provide best practice governance advice and support to the Chair, Board, CEO and Executive team, ensuring regulatory/codes of practice compliance, ongoing review of consultations on charity governance and promoting good governance in practice.

What Skills and Experience do you need?
- Experience of providing governance support at Board level.
- Chartered Membership of the Chartered Governance Institute (or equivalent) or studying towards the qualification or suitable other experience. Experience of working independently, pro-actively and sensitively with senior stakeholders (Chair, CEO, Board members, Exec directors).
- Excellent project management skills and experience.
- Project team leadership skills and experience.
- Experience of budgetary control.
- Experience and in-depth knowledge of corporate and charity governance, including of company secretary functional requirements.
- Friendly, supportive, authoritative and approachable with the ability to adapt communication style to build positive relationships and provide proactive support for internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Able to take comprehensive and accurate minutes at speed.
- Able to adapt written communication style to deal with formal Board and governance communications, but equally at home with more informal communications when appropriate.
- Good level of IT skills particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and a working knowledge of portals for distributing and viewing board and committee papers.
- Very well organised, self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative, to deal authoritatively with providing best practice advice, peaks and troughs in workload, and conflicting priorities including between departments and individuals.
- Able and willing to flex hours worked in order to cover Board and AGM meeting at weekends and frequent evenings and occasional early mornings (for committee meetings and distribution of Board and Committee papers) and travel to hostels throughout the network to support Board and other meetings, for which Time Off in Lieu will be provided.
- Flexible and adaptable, and willing to support the Chair, Board, CEO, Executive Team, and External Affairs Team.
- A good understanding of charity governance, operational and departmental organisation and requirements.
