We are looking for an exceptional leader to join Manx National Heritage (MNH) as Retail and Commercial Manager. This exciting and varied role involves income generating responsibility while delivering an outstanding experience across all MNH principal visitor admission sites. We are looking for a Head of Commercial Operations to join our busy team. Responsibilities and Person Specification:
The External Training Manager will work with internal subject matter experts to develop and implement our programme of external training which is aimed at building knowledge of older people’s options when experiencing financial hardship.
Our training is aimed at professionals and trusted intermediaries working in the commercial, statutory and not for profit sectors. Our ambition is for everyone who works with older people to know what older people may be entitled to, how to support them to claim and where to get further help.
You should have extensive experience of designing and delivering training to a range of audiences, along with experience of developing resources and of training evaluation. Knowledge of how to ensure training is inclusive and accessible, along with excellent communication and relationship building skills is essential. Prior knowledge of financial hardship topics relating to older people is not required, as you will be working with subject matter experts.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Retail Commercial Manager to oversee the sales and profit performance of a collection of retail shops. This position plays a crucial role in driving the commercial success of our retail shops by developing effective sales strategies, managing stock, optimising merchandising, and leading a high-performing team to deliver exceptional customer service. Role Responsibilities
Sales and Profit
• Support Shop Managers to maximise each shop’s sales and profit potential.
• Oversee the delivery of Gift Aid targets throughout the area, driving Gift Aid signups and conversion rates, and ensuring shops are actively promoting the scheme.
• Conduct data analysis to review the commercial layout of each shop including department and category mix.
• Understand and implement commercial actions to deliver against strategic KPIs.
• Responsible for ensuring that all merchandise is clearly priced and monitor pricing levels to achieve maximum sales in accordance with pricing policies.
• Ensure shops have a high standard of display, cleanliness and tidiness, and that they project a quality retail image.
• Assist Shop Managers to deliver commercially successful visual merchandising displays, in line with the visual merchandising manual.
• Ensure each shop correctly implements agreed seasonal promotions, and shop layouts to achieve maximum income.
• Ensures shop teams are aware, understand and engaged in the financial performance of their shops.
• All best practices outlined within the commercial manual are delivered.
Stock Management
• Ensure compliance with efficient and commercially successful stock processing systems (such as pricing, quality standards, consumer safety, stock density, sizing, and culling stock).
• Ensure that all legal and internal regulations regarding donated stock are adhered to.
• Collaborate with warehouse team to ensure effective stock movement.
• Work closely with the warehouse and stock partnerships teams to ensure sufficient levels of warehouse, rotation and corporate donated stock.
• Work closely with the ecommerce team to ensure key products generate maximum income via the best channel, delivering P&L sales targets.
• To monitor stock management and fast-tracking on to shop floor.
Customer Service
• Lead and inspire the team to place a positive customer experience at the heart of our approach to attract new and loyal supporters and repeat donors.
• Ensure all processes detailed within the customer experience manual are delivered.
• Ensure that feedback, including complaints are escalated to the Head of Retail Income, within the agreed timeframes.
• Be accountable for the integration of each shop into the local community in collaboration with the shop teams.
Team Management
• Ensure that shops have correct level of cover throughout the year, ensuring cover when and where necessary for annual leave, sickness or vacancies.
• Coordinate and facilitate meetings with shop managers for the purpose of training, communication and planning.
• Role model and promote effective team communication, celebrating success and sharing best practice.
• Foster a creative environment where team members seek to maximise income in new and innovative ways through multiple channels including their shops and community events.
• Provide line management, leadership, development opportunities and performance management to the Shop Management team.
• Support with the annual appraisal and probation processes for all reports.

• Ensure shops are compliant against operational procedures and processes within the Operations manual, providing timely reports and identifying areas of non-compliance.

The Ruth Strauss Foundation has ambitious plans for growth over the next 5-10 years and this new role will be pivotal in driving forward our philanthropic growth. This role will lead the development of our major donor programme, building a portfolio of major donors to become part of a lifelong family of RSF donors. The primary focus will be the acquisition of new major donors while maintaining the retention of existing donors. Developing cases of support and impact reports, this role will create bespoke, tailored communications to major donors based on their needs and motivations to support.
The position involves developing a supporter-centric philanthropic journey which will drive an excellent supporter experience and ensures our major donors enter into a lifelong relationship with RSF. Centre Operations Management

- Work alongside the Deputy Director in developing private hires into Corporate Memberships and Sponsorship opportunities.
Retail
- Develop new product lines to include exhibition merchandise, MK Gallery specific merchandise, unique gifts and children’s arts and crafts materials.
- Work with local makers to produce a line of artist products on a sale or return basis.
Operational
- Lead on the recruitment and training of new staff and volunteers across the Commercial Teams in accordance with the organisational policy and procedures.
- Work with the Marketing and Audience Development Team to ensure that all commercial activities are accurately represented and advertised.
- Ensure Risk Assessments, Standard Operating Procedures and Safety Management Systems are in place across all Commercial areas with a focus on safety first and food and hygiene safe working practice.
- Ensure stock management and POS systems are in place and managed accordingly and work with the Finance Manager to ensure robust systems and processes are in place in accordance with the Gallery’s policies and procedures.
- Work with the Finance Manager to establish and maintain budget setting and management across commercial activity.
General
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Head of Catering and Events.
- Carry out responsibilities with due regard to all MK Gallery policies and procedures including Security, Health and Safety, Child Protection and Equality & Diversity.

Experience
- Experience of event management at a senior level with demonstrated experience of delivery, administration and evaluation of large-scale complex events.
- Experience of developing and a corporate events programme to engage local business.
- Experience of project co-ordination involving multiple stakeholders, visitors, staff, and suppliers.
- Experience of managing sales targets and being responsible for driving income.
- Experience of managing venue hire on behalf of external clients.
Skills and abilities
- Excellent organisational skills with ability to work to tight deadlines and multi-task when under pressure.
- Excellent business and finance acumen – confident with budget project with budget management, budget projections and financial processes.
- An entrepreneurial outlook – an enthusiasm for generating income through innovation.
