We are seeking a part-time Head of Finance to join our Operational Leadership Team (OLT) for three days a week.

You will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to identify the level of internal and external resource that is required to develop a hybrid delivery model to operate financial management in the most effective and efficient way possible.

Your clear communication skills and accounting qualifications, knowledge and experience will enable you to convey financial information in a practical and insightful way to a number of different audiences that have varying levels of financial understanding.

We want you to help us build great relationships with our supporters and to help them achieve their fundraising ambitions, allowing us to grow our sustainable, annual income. This is a rewarding and fast-paced role, in a small team. No two days will be the same as you'll be working with individuals, trustees, community groups and local/regional businesses, and supporting them with their fundraising goals!

Principal Responsibilities and accountabilities:

· Deliver the corporate and community activity annual income and expenditure budget contributing to our overall income within the fundraising strategy. Producing monthly financial reports will be required.

· Maintain and develop existing relationships across Leicestershire and Rutland, providing excellent account management to maximise income for Hope.

· Design and deliver a bespoke communication and contact strategy (with Marketing and Comms)

· Secure retention of corporate and community supporters.

· Identify and secure new partnerships including Charity of the Year, CRM and CSR opportunities.

· Secure sponsorship for Hope’s events through the development of strong pitches, researching potential sponsors to target and negotiating contracts.

· Act as an ambassador for Hope, representing the Charity at external events, including networking and public speaking/presenting.

· Research past, present and prospective corporate and high net-worth individuals and help determine the best, tailored fundraising approach for each.

· Develop new income streams through cause-related marketing opportunities by researching prospects and building relationships.

· Promote Hope’s fundraising and research to relevant supporters and partners by making presentations to specific target groups and attending cheque presentations.

· Be responsible for your own administration and efficiently organise all your own activities with support from our part-time administrator.

· Display strong analytical skills to evaluate activity using our e-tapestry database, with support from office manager and database admin.

· Any other duties reasonably assigned by the CEO.

· Adhere to Hope’s policies and procedures and fundraising legal requirements.

Governance and Planning Manager

Purpose of the role

Are you passionate about providing grants to ground-breaking environmental charities around the world? This role offers the chance to develop and manage a portfolio of grants dedicated to this subject area. The broad themes of the programme are: the regulation and reduction of harmful chemicals and pollution; Protecting human health and biodiversity in environmental planning (including though promoting good environmental governance) and regulating harmful impacts of business and development projects. The Environment programme has a budget of approximately £7m in 2024.

Relationships and reporting lines

The Programme Officer will report to the Environment Programme Manager and will work closely with members of the Environment programme team, as well as the Executive and Deputy Executive Directors on matters of strategy. Additional key relationships include interaction with the Trustees, as well as collaboration with the Trust’s other programme officers and operations staff.

Main duties and responsibilities

The post holder will be expected to manage all stages of the grant making process, from invitation to application, award and reporting.

Programme Officer Duties:

• Making a contribution to the vision for and strategic direction of the Trust’s environmental grant-making portfolio;
• Identifying potential grant applicants by researching organisations in fields of interest to the Trust, networking and attending relevant events;
• Reviewing submitted applications, interviewing potential grantees, undertaking due diligence and preparing analytical reports and recommendations for Trustees;
• Reviewing reports submitted by grantees, evaluating and reporting on the impact of grants and signing off on grant payments;
• Managing the grant making pipeline to ensure efficiency of processes and an appropriate balance of recommendations across the Trust’s grant making meetings;
• Maintaining relationships and regular communication with grantees, including site visits and attendance at grantee events;
• Keeping informed of relevant developments including civil society activity, the regulatory environment and academic literature;
• Developing relationships with other donors and stakeholders in the field; and
• Representing the Trust externally at national and international conferences.

As Chief Operating Officer, you will manage and develop the diverse business operations of the Trust.

Key responsibilities include:

You must be confident, resilient and energetic, with proven ability to lead and engage staff and volunteers, helping them achieve their objectives. Governance 

Ensuring that the charity is legally compliant, compliant with requirements of the Charity Commission and has the correct insurances in place for the charity’s activities and that these are reviewed annually.

Strategic

Financial

Ensure that income is maintained, expenditure controlled in line with budgets and potential risks are identified and managed

Draw up an annual budget for approval by Trustees

Liaise with appointed bookkeeper, ensuring timely payment of bills, invoicing for services, chasing of invoices for payment and maintenance of petty cash systems

Prepare contracts, apply for tenders, negotiate and agree contracts, service level agreements and acknowledge receipt of funds as required.

Oversee expenditure and management accounts ensuring that income and expenditure is monitored and reported quarterly to Trustees

Organise independent examination of accounts with appointed accountant

Review and make recommendations to maintain or change arrangements with accountants, bookkeepers and payroll service providers. 

Income Generation

Develop income generation strategies to maintain and enhance levels of funding from existing sources and develop new funding streams

Work closely with and provide support to the Fundraising Officer on funding applications to ensure continuous and sufficient income

Work closely with the Co-Director of Operations to ensure that monitoring reports are submitted to funders in line with requirements.

HR 

Recruit staff as required 

Support and supervise Administration and Fundraising Officers

Ensure HR policies, procedures and staff contracts are relevant and reviewed regularly to ensure they are fit for purpose. 

Promotion of Charity

Maintain effective networks with supporters and stakeholders

Network externally and develop partnerships to improve impact and sustainability

Ensure charity is presented in an appropriate and professional manner to its stakeholders including website, social media, annual, impact and reports

Represent the charity in public forums and produce or commission written/digital material for promotion

Asset Management

Overall responsibility for asset management including Playbus vehicles, premises management, IT, utilities and other overheads. 

Other Duties

To participate in internal/external meetings and training

To participate in annual appraisal by appointed Trustee from the Boardof Trustees

Swindon Food Collective is an independent charity that aims to help people in Swindon and the surrounding area who are suffering from financial hardship and finding it difficult to provide food for themselves, their family or dependants. 

As Operations Manager, you will oversee logistics, streamlining of processes, and optimise resource allocation to meet the needs of the community while minimising waste

Key responsibilities include: 

● Working with Trustees and the Strategic Business Manager to develop, co-ordinate, and action the Charity’s strategy and business plan.

● Providing regular reports to the Board of Trustees, detailing operational performance, KPI’s and strategic initiatives.

● Partnering with Finance to work within allocated budgets, monitoring income and expenditure against targets as laid out in the business plan.

● Day-to-day management of all Operational employees and volunteers, ensuring efficient operations and high-quality service delivery.

· Managing health and safety within all premises and for all company equipment, including company vehicles, as well as adherence to all policies and procedures, ensuring these policies are up to date and reviewed regularly.

● Regularly monitoring and evaluating the service to ensure quality and technical standards are met.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in day-to-day management and supply chain logistics of a diverse operational workforce, including both paid employees and volunteers, with strong leadership and team-building skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire both internal teams and external stakeholders are crucial, as is strong experience of staff management and supervision. 

You must also have a full, clean driving license and access to own vehicle.

• To provide a credible and high-quality bereavement support service to all grieving families children, young people and families in need of our help.
• To better educate and support professionals who come into contact with bereaved children and young people.
• To improve family relationships after a member of the family dies, to reduce bereaved families' feelings of social isolation, to improve a child or young person’s engagement with school and the wider community for families to learn further about the impact of grief.
• To ensure all families and professionals working with families in North Devon and the Torridge area are aware of FiG’s services.

Ampleforth Abbey Trust is looking to appoint a strong performance-focused leader to take up the pivotal position of Director of Safeguarding and Wellbeing

Safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk is of paramount importance at Ampleforth Abbey and safeguarding all vulnerable groups from harm is a key strategic priority. The Trust’s charitable beneficiaries and safeguarding responsibilities include both vulnerable adults and children. Ampleforth Abbey is home to a large Benedictine community and its main works include the provision of guided and individual retreats and the operation of a Visitor Centre, Tea Room and shop. Monks of the community also serve in local parishes and a small number are resident in a dependent monastery in Zimbabwe. 

As Director of Safeguarding and Wellbeing, you will ensure the highest standards of safeguarding arrangements are in place across Ampleforth Abbey Trust, that these are robustly maintained and that the charity meets its legal duties and obligations in relation to the same, demonstrating all due care for all relevant legislation and carrying out duties in the most cost-effective and efficient way.
