Sports Events Manager
Children with Cancer UK is seeking a dynamic and experienced Events Manager to lead our Sports Events team. In this key role, you’ll oversee a portfolio of fundraising events, with a primary focus on managing the TCS London Marathon. You’ll work closely with our Senior Sports and Community Manager to ensure that all events provide a top-tier experience for participants, adhere to budgets, and meet fundraising goals. This is a hands-on role involving project management, stakeholder engagement, and budget oversight of approximately £4 million in income and £1.7 million in expenditure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the delivery of sports events, including the TCS London Marathon.
- Direct line management of two Senior Sports Coordinators.

- Cultivate relationships with stakeholders, ensuring high standards of relationship fundraising and participant engagement.

We are looking for a Challenge Events Fundraiser to join our national Regional Fundraising Team.
Arrangement of hours can be flexible and agreed with the successful candidate.
About the role
As a Challenge Events Fundraiser, you will support the Regional Fundraising Team to build a successful programme of challenge events that will raise funds and positively promote the Charity.
This role will focus on a portfolio of mass participation and challenge events, as well as supporting national campaigns and community events delivered by programme scheduling, resource management, event marketing, participant recruitment and stewardship, financial reporting, database management and event evaluation.
You will produce and maintain the events calendar, research and recommend new events and work with our Customer Care team to ensure support materials are provided as appropriate. You will ensure event performance; supporter engagement and income are recorded tracked and fed back to the Fundraising team.
You will ensure events are marketed and celebrated via established charity platforms, and participant numbers and income are increased through promotion to new and previous supporters.
You will support participants through their journey, creating a memorable experience and positive impression of the charity, and will attend some events in person.
Previous experience of event planning, participant recruitment and sponsor stewardship would be an asset to the successful candidate, who will also need experience of working with a CRM database and be competent at interpreting financial information and reports.
This role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

You will need a good understanding of the events fundraising sector, it’s relevant law, procedures and techniques.
You will be able to demonstrate an ability to research, plan and support a programme of events on a national scale and prioritise your workload to meet deadlines and KPIs agreed with your line manager.

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Challenge Events Team Manager, to lead and inspire a team of twenty.
This role will have responsibility for the strategy, development and delivery of Macmillan’s Third Party Event portfolio including London Marathon, Edinburgh Marathon Festival and Hyrox, raising £14m+ to help support people living with cancer in the UK.

Main Purpose of Role

- Deliver regular reporting to the team, measuring supporter engagement, retention and campaign performance.
- Deliver insightful and robust campaign selections and analysis to optimise fundraising campaigns.

About the Role
The role sits within the Communications, Engagement and Fundraising directorate. We are looking for an experienced communications professional (with events experience) to join our team, to help us oversee, lead and manage the organisation’s communication resources, website, and marketing activity to raise the profile of USPG.
Working with the Director of Communications, Engagement & Fundraising, the Senior Communications & Engagement Manager will deliver the organisational communications strategy. This will include communications and marketing leadership, media engagement, events management, and oversight of all digital and print communications. They will also have a remit to develop new communications to engage with new and global church audiences.
You will manage a team of two communication officers to complete all planned communications activities but also work across teams to coordinate story content that will feed key communication channels and platforms.

You are a confident, passionate, organised and creative senior manager with the proven ability to motivate and inspire your team and USPG supporters. You will bring energy and passion to this role and have the responsibility for delivering on time communications activity across the organisation. Your experience will bring our vital work to life in an inspiring way to help grow awareness and strengthen our organisational brand.
You will have experience of implementing communication plans, writing briefs, managing our digital communications channels, and reporting on all media engagement. Role requirements:
● A minimum 2 years managing partnerships and delivering strategic outcomes in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
● Experience in grant funding and crafting compelling funding proposals is highly desirable.
● A demonstrated ability in securing and managing partnerships valued at approximately £100,000.

You'll work closely with the Site Team to ensure everything runs smoothly, from planning timelines and managing suppliers to overseeing budgets and ensuring the venue is ready.
