Using your digital marketing and advertising skills, you will lead on planning, delivering and evaluating marketing campaigns with a focus on digital advertising to recruit supporters and promote our activities.

You will be driven by insights and confident developing and managing digital advertising plans to reach your audiences. • Delivering integrated marketing campaigns

We are recruiting an experienced and ambitious Individual Giving & Legacy Manager who will share our compassion and commitment for animal welfare, to lead on the strategic direction and delivery of our growing Individual Giving and Legacy marketing programme, managing activity across multiple channels and products to  both retain our amazing, loyal donors and attract many more to support us.

Our Individual Giving & Legacy Manager is integral to our ambition to broaden our reach and deepen our impact by shaping and our fundraising activities and working on integrated campaigns with our Fundraising management team and wider colleagues and external suppliers. This is a highly visible and hugely important role for Mayhew, and will work across departments to build our case for support and employ it across a range of retention and acquisition channels.

The Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People (CfD) is a registered small-sized charity that delivers a wide range of services including community development and assistive equipment services to people in Bristol who are Deaf, hard of hearing or deafened. As our mission statement says, we are working toward creating a Bristol “where everyone can participate in all aspects of life in the city, whatever their level of hearing”.

CfD challenges the prejudice and barriers that Deaf and hard of hearing people face in their daily lives. We are developing exciting new plans for activities that will contribute to our aims and promote equality for all deaf people. 

CfD is seeking a Manager to run our Equipment Service, contribute to projects and support our CEO as we move forward with our new plans. The post-holder will be based at the Vassall Centre, Gill Ave, Fishponds, Bristol, BS16 2QQ.

This is an exciting opportunity to help CfD grow. You will manage our Equipment Service for Deaf and hard of hearing people, with a focus on developing the scope and reach of the service. You will also contribute to a portfolio of projects and support the CEO by managing staff and leading on areas of work such as HR and Health and Safety. We welcome applications from people who have experience of working with or supporting deaf people and those with management, administrative and marketing experience who would like to use these skills in a new area.

Summary of duties:

Equipment Service

The Manager will oversee the running of the Equipment Service, managing the two Equipment Officers and the two CfD Administrators, as well as being responsible for the Resource Room. You will also be responsible for the marketing of the Equipment Service, developing the existing marketing strategy and implementing your new approach. This part of your role will take 20 hours a week.

The Manager will also be responsible for developing the Equipment Service so that we reach more people, make more use of Bluetooth technology and offer more support to existing clients. This part of your role will take 7 hours a week.

The role may develop to include spending some time as an Equipment Officer, visiting clients, making assessments and providing equipment to clients. Training will be provided for this part of the role.

These parts of the role are core. All candidates will be asked to carry out these duties.

Additional hours are also available to:

1. Work an additional 3 hours a week developing the Equipment Service

2. Work with other CfD staff to develop and run projects and support the CfD CEO. This work will be up to an additional day a week (7.5 hours a week)

Current projects include:

· Developing new ways of supporting Deaf and hard of hearing people, with an emphasis on setting up “Living with Hearing Loss“ workshops and peer support groups for hard of hearing people.

· South Gloucestershire project – bringing Deaf and hard of hearing people together through monthly sessions with a focus on wellbeing.

· Community Development projects – these seek to build resilience, bring people together, and to make connections to their communities.

Support Role

You will support our CEO, Justin Smith, by dealing with queries from staff, deputising at some meetings and leading on HR matters, Health and Safety and GDPR.

This will be an exciting and challenging role. You will be busy, but you will be able to make a real contribution to CfD and to the lives of Deaf and hard of hearing people in Bristol and the surrounding counties.

The main responsibilities are to:

Equipment Service

1. Manage, maintain, and improve the Equipment Service.

2. Line-manage the two Equipment Officers and the two CfD Administrators.

3. Develop and implement the current marketing strategy for the Equipment Service, including use of social media, the CfD website, outreach work and presentations.

4. Produce equipment service reports for the CfD Trustees and Bristol City Council in a timely manner and to a professional standard.

5. Work with the CfD Communications and Engagement Officer to develop the Equipment Service Newsletter so it becomes a CfD newsletter of interest to deaf people throughout Bristol and the surrounding counties.

6. Improve the Equipment Service website so that it becomes a resource for clients and professionals.

Projects

Tasks will include some of the following:

1. Manage contracts and support staff to manage their budgets across a number of projects.

2. Lead on using our database to produce high quality statistics on our work.

3. Support staff to ensure that CfD produces reports for funders to meet the required deadlines.

4. Contribute to a number of projects, including developing new ways of supporting hard of hearing people to adjust to hearing loss and to find effective strategies for meeting the challenges that hard of hearing people face in Bristol.

CEO Support

Tasks will include some of the following:

1. Lead on HR, Health and Safety, Risk Management, GDPR compliance and good practice.

2. Deputise for the CEO at selected meetings and events, and to develop and maintain relationships with key external partners and agencies.

3. Work with the CEO to cost and implement new initiatives and service delivery opportunities.

General

1. Attend conferences, training and other staff development opportunities. 

2. Develop an agreed personal training plan and carry this out using internal and external training as required.

3. Adhere to and promote CfD’s policies and standards, especially the Equal Opportunities, Data Protection, Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Communication policies.

4. Act as an ambassador for CfD; promoting a positive and professional image and attitude at all times.

5. Support the CEO and other CfD staff in achieving the aims of CfD and carry out such other relevant duties as may be agreed.

6. Support CfD to find funding for new projects involving Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.

7. Coordinate and manage own Access to Work support (if needed).

Terms and conditions:

1. This is a part/full-time position of 27- 37.5 hours a week.  CfD’s core hours are 10am – 4pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Applications are welcome from candidates who wish to work for any number of hours between 27 and 37.5 (full-time). Part-time hours may be split across 4 or 5 days.

2. This is a permanent post, subject to availability of funding. Equipment Service funding from Bristol City Council is renewed every 3 years subject to CfD winning a competitive tender.  The current service contract will run to the end of March 2026.

3. Salary £27,500 - £31,000 a year pro rata.

Note:

The final interpretation of this job description rests with the CEO in consultation with the Board of Trustees and the jobholder. The job description will be reviewed in the course of supervision meetings and any amendments will be negotiated with the jobholder. The jobholder is also expected to share in other CfD activities as time permits and by agreement with the CEO.

 Essential skills, abilities and knowledge:

· Educated to A-Level standard, including Maths and English GCSEs.

· Knowledge and understanding of the voluntary sector and sympathy with the objectives of CfD.

· Able to deal with telephone calls and queries (through interpreter if required) in a pleasant manner.

· Some knowledge of specialist equipment for Deaf and hard of hearing people.

· Experience of producing reports.

· Experience of collating and inputting data onto databases and extracting information for monitoring (CfD uses a CRM system called “Charitylog”. Training will be provided for this system).

· Experience of delivering projects or services in a timely manner and to budget.

· Able to use Microsoft office to a high level, including Word and Excel.

· Ability to monitor budgets and use Excel to check and prepare budgets.

· Ability to write clear and concise documents suitable for a range of audiences, including professionals and service-users.

· Understanding of the importance of evaluating a service.

· Ability to deliver presentations to small and medium-sized audiences in an engaging manner.

· Ability to form positive working relationships with other professionals.

Desirable skills, abilities and knowledge:

· A marketing qualification or experience of marketing a service.

· Experience of working with Deaf and/or hard of hearing people.

· Ability to communicate in British Sign Language (training can be provided).

· Experience of working closely with service users and explaining complex issues clearly.

· Understanding of the social model of disability.

· Experience of using social media and writing content for websites.

Equipment Service – Further Information:

The aim of the Equipment Service is to make sure that clients get the equipment they need and are confident in using it.  We support clients to be independent by helping to remove some of the barriers they face because of their hearing loss.

The Deaf Equipment Service is contracted to CfD by Bristol City Council. CfD has run the Equipment Service for Deaf and hard of hearing people for over 10 years. Our Equipment Officers make pre-arranged visits to the homes of Deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing people within the city of Bristol. We carry out assessments to find out what clients need and then supply the equipment (usually free of charge), provide training so clients know how to use it and support clients if they need repairs or replacement equipment. Every year we work with around 400 clients. The equipment we supply includes TV listening devices, flashing doorbells, amplified telephones and personal listeners. We are developing an outreach programme to try and reach as many deaf people in Bristol as we can.

As the Manager of the Equipment Service, your main tasks will be:

1. Manage, maintain, and improve the Equipment Service to make sure all KPIs are met.

2. Manage the Equipment Service budget and make sure all activities are delivered within budget.

3. Manage the two part-time Equipment Officers and the two CfD Administrators, including conducting supervisions, and chairing team meetings.

4. Develop and implement the marketing strategy for the Equipment Service so that the service expands to meet our new targets.

5. Support the administrators to monitor the Equipment Service email inbox, responding promptly to all customer related queries. 

6. Keep records using CfD’s Charitylog database, electronic files and some paper records.

7. Produce regular reports and statistics on work done.

8. Develop the Equipment Service by:

a. Exploring how workshops on hearing loss can be used to support hard of hearing people.

b. Developing peer-support as a way of promoting the wellbeing of hard of hearing people.

9. Review and improve the administrative systems e.g. electronic and paper filing systems, data collection, record management.  

10. Greet visitors to the resource centre and provide demonstrations of a selection of assistive technology.

11. Work with the Equipment Service Team to provide content for the organisation’s website and social media presence relevant to the Equipment Service, including the sharing of stories and information.

12. Lead on reviewing and improving the Equipment Service website.

Administration and Reporting

• Keep accurate records of supporter information and fundraising activities in our CRM system.

 About the role 

The Head of Mass Participation Fundraising leads an ambitious team that attracts and enables supporters to raise funds for Young Lives vs Cancer through participation in virtual or real life events and challenges. They deliver through creating a quality and forward looking events and challenges portfolio, and working with partner teams attract motivated participants and provide an outstanding supporter experience that ensures fundraising goals are smashed and long term relationships are built.

With their team and partner teams the Head of Mass Participation Fundraising keeps performance on track and spots opportunities by always tracking performance through quality KPIs and measures. They also have a close eye on what’s happening in the sector, making sure the portfolio constantly evolves to stay ahead of trends, this ensure they maximise the returns for the investment in the portfolio focusing on maximising income and gaining new supporters

Kids for Kids is the only charity founded specifically to help children in one of the most challenging regions of the world, Darfur, Sudan. What we are looking for

This is a key position as it will be your responsibility to ensure the smooth-running of the charity, enabling us to support even more children and their families. You will be the righthand person for our Founder/Chairman, CEO, and Deputy CEO. You will be in touch with supporters across the world. You will assist with drafting documents and correspondence with our supporters. You will be responsible for data entry and help us to migrate to a CRM system in the coming months. Event planning and coordinating with the rest of the team will be part of your brief, as will organising talks across the country to help raise awareness of our unique sustainable projects. ELBA is a leading social regeneration charity in east London. Purpose of the job

ELBA’s Connect Team (within the Community Team) deliver a range of employee volunteering initiatives which build the capacity of third sector organisations in east London by utilising the professional business skills of volunteers. The Connect Team has three key areas of activity: placing trustees through the BoardBuilders Programme, creating coaching relationships via Leaders in Partnership, and delivering a range of consultancy and capacity building work including facilitating workshops, training sessions and initiatives to benefit east London community organisations. Main duties

• Identify and build relationships with a range of community stakeholders, including charities, community groups, social enterprises, education institutions, faith groups etc in east London.

Our Migration Fund was established in 2015 and has since awarded over £30 million and supported 160+ organisations. We currently grant c. £5 million per year to organisations working towards ‘a world in which everyone is free to move, and no one is forced to move’.

In close collaboration with migrants and those working towards migrant justice, our team has recently reviewed our priorities and criteria, which includes an updated analysis of how positive change might happen, our role in facilitating that change, and the types of work we are keen to support across the UK. This current iteration of the fund was launched in April 2024.

We have since introduced a Steering Group, made up of six external individuals with complementary skills, knowledge and experience who help our team review and shortlist applications to be considered by our decision-making panel, a mix of independent advisors and PHF trustees. This group also supports our overall work, ensuring our funding strategy responds to the opportunities and needs emerging in the field, helping us identify gaps in our portfolio, and expanding our networks.

In addition to our grant-making, the Migration team supports a range of learning exchanges and events to strengthen relationship building and collaboration within the movement. This includes financial and strategic support to emerging collaborations, exploratory and thematic events in the UK and beyond. Every year, we host the Migration Residential, a 2.5-day retreat to support our partners and the wider field to recharge, connect and strategize together.

What will be my main contribution?

As a Grants Manager, you will act as the primary point of contact between applicant organisations and Paul Hamlyn Foundation, undertaking enquiry calls to learn about their work, assess their alignment with our strategic priorities, advise them on the application process, and providing tailored feedback, where needed. You will also review applications alongside the Migration Steering Group and make funding recommendations to our decision-making panel. You will work closely with a portfolio of funded organisations in our migration theme, primarily the Migration Fund. There is a current portfolio of c. 50 live grants that you will manage and be the key point of contact for. You will build strong relationships with funded organisations, responding to emerging needs, providing advice where relevant, and supporting them to achieve their learning and impact goals.

Who will I report to?

You will be supported by and report to the Head of Programme – Migration.

Who will I line manage?

You will not have line management responsibilities. However, you will be expected to work in a small and fully interconnected structure that relies on collaboration, flexibility, and the ability to operate within both formal and informal reporting relationships.

What other key internal relationships will I have?

You will work closely with colleagues in the Grants and Strategic Learning, Insight and Influence teams to share intelligence, develop an understanding of the impact that our funding and support are having, and highlight and celebrate best practice more widely to help drive the change we would like to see. You will also work closely with colleagues in the Finance and Resources team to ensure good and effective grant management.

What level of budget responsibility will I have?

Main Responsibilities

· Alignment with the values and aims of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, and in particular its commitment to social justice and equality, to tackling disadvantage, fighting prejudice, supporting youth voice and participation.

Grant-making and Management

· Provide prompt and helpful support to potential applicants enquiring about the Foundation’s work, the Fund’s criteria and the organisation’s alignment with it.

· Work alongside the team to proactively identify potential applicants and enable them to apply to the Migration Fund.

· Assess grant applications, analysing their alignment with the Fund’s criteria and priorities, fit with our portfolio, and participating in discussions with the team, Migration Steering Group, trustees and senior leadership to agree on successful applications. Support the team to provide tailored and constructive feedback on applications and hold relationships with applicants throughout the whole process.

· Prepare written reports with detailed analysis and recommendations to present at decision-making panel meetings.

· Manage and monitor a portfolio of grants awarded, which includes supporting organisations to identify their learning goals; reflect on lessons, impact and challenges; review learning reports; respond to emerging issues and needs; authorise and generate grant payments in a timely fashion.

· Support the Head of Programme to continuously review and improve our grant-making processes to ensure that they are accessible and do not perpetuate existing structural inequalities.

· Maintain our grants database (Blackbaud Grantmaking), ensuring that records are accurate, reporting and payments are completed so that we know the status of applications and awarded grants at any time, and so we can better analyse and learn from our portfolio.

· Carry out visits to funded organisations to learn more about how the work is going, their context and help identify gap areas across our portfolio. Visits may be virtual or in person, with some local or national travel across the UK, where needed.

· Support with grant-making and management of the Foundation’s invitation-only funds, where relevant.

Learning

· Take an active and supportive role with funded organisations, helping make connections with potential partners and/or funders, advise them on emerging and strategic issues, and to strengthen learning within and across grant themes.

· Participate in learning and knowledge sharing activities relevant to the team and wider migration field including keeping up to date with relevant policy and practice to inform our strategy and acting as the team lead on specific issue areas, where relevant.

· Take on specific research or development roles within the team as appropriate, which might include maintaining strong relations with partner foundations, supporting funder collaborations, and the development of strategic initiatives.

· Help develop and actively contribute to cross-departmental and multidisciplinary working, supporting continual improvement and professional development.

· Support the Head of Programme to design, deliver and learn from our events and learning exchanges, where needed.

General

· Represent the Foundation at external events, where required.

· Support the work of the communications team to ensure that news stories, grants’ listings, etc. are kept up to date.

· Liaise closely with the grants administration team.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

· Alignment with the values and aims of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, in particular our commitment to equitable grant making and being an anti-racist funder. The ability to apply these principles to ensure good decision making and support for those we fund.

· Demonstrate experience of working in the migration field or on migration issues, in particular migrant communities who experience intersecting forms of exclusion or oppression, and with organisations and groups who work alongside them.

· Demonstrable experience of project / client management skills to support stakeholders throughout the process – from assessments to monitoring within a focus on migration issues

· Evident understanding of the main issues and practices that support or hinder relational, transparent and accountable grant-making.

· Knowledge of the key political and legislative environment affecting migrants and diaspora communities in the UK, with the capability and interest to acquire it in other areas of our current work.

· Interest in how social change happens, including some knowledge of the existing diverse ecology working to tackle systemic and structural inequality and injustice, and how they relate to one another.

· A good understanding of organisational dynamics – such as business planning, financial reporting, performance management and governance – and how these apply to developing the business models, capacity and longer-term sustainability of organisations, ideally within the public or voluntary sectors.

· Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to constructively engage with disagreement and conflict, and give empathetic and constructive feedback to unsuccessful applicants and grant partners.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with a range of audiences.

· Ability to analyse and synthesise complex information quickly and effectively.

· An organised and methodical approach to work, combining numerical accuracy with attention to detail and an ability to meet deadlines.

· Strong IT skills, MS Office, the ability to learn detailed processes and use of databases to process information.

· Strong project management skills and demonstrable experience of delivering successful projects.

· Experience of understanding annual and management accounts, budgets and confidence in extracting key information from financial reports or interest and commitment in developing these skills.

Terms and conditions

· Salary circa £39,000.

· 25 days leave per annum, plus statutory holidays.

· The Foundation will contribute a sum equivalent to 10% of your basic annual salary to the group pension scheme (Aviva) and will match up to an additional 2.5% (optional) of your contributions from the date your employment begins.

· Life Income Protection and Life Assurance Scheme available from the date your employment begins.

· Office hours are normally 9am – 5pm Monday – Friday, but flexible working is possible around core hours of 10am – 4pm. Some flexibility is required from team members around evening work and travel to and from events and meetings.

· PHF operates a hybrid working policy and you will be expected to work at least 40% of your time in the office with the option to work up to 60% of your time from home. The contractual place of work for this role is 5- 11 Leeke Street, London WC1X 9HY.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new initiative to support the development of a co-designed cross-borough and cross-organisation approach to volunteering that will ensure that health and care priorities are better supported by volunteering and that volunteers have a better experience. The programme is looking to adopt and share innovative safe and streamlined approaches to recruiting, supporting and deploying volunteers, including the development of a volunteer passport.

The role includes research and development; information gathering and mapping; stakeholder engagement and collaboration and progress reporting to a cross borough partnership, ensuring that equality, diversity and inclusion sits at the centre of this work.

This posts sits with Volunteer Centre Greenwich (VCG)  which is the lead independent agency on volunteering in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.VCG actively promotes volunteering to residents and its 700+ member organistions; promoting good practice and supporting organisations with volunteering through training and advice.

The successful postholder should be able to develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, have excellent volunteer management skills and a good knowledge of effective research and mapping tools.
