About the role

Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation, the Senior Digital Communications Officer plays a crucial role in developing and implementing a Social Media strategy and Digital Communication plans that are aligned and feed into Practical Action's Global Communications strategy. In addition to managing the group social media profiles and digital communities, the Senior Digital Communications Officer will coordinate the creation and optimal utilisation of digital content across various platforms and channels, reaching and engaging a variety of audiences, and making decisions and recommendations based on data insight.

The Senior Digital Communications Officer will always be looking for new and effective ways to communicate our key messages online, keeping up to date with digital trends and best practice and eager to share what they learn. They’ll collaborate with colleagues from across different teams and geographical locations, providing them the tools and expert advice to represent our brand and work with consistency through digital platforms and achieve our profiling, awareness, fundraising, and advocacy objectives.

Accountabilities

Social Media Strategy & Community Management (internal & external)

• Create and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with Practical Action's organizational objectives.
• Responsible for daily community management on social channels, monitoring engagements, responding to comments and/or escalating as appropriate; including out-of-hours cover during major events or exceptional circumstances.
• Leverage Social Listening tools to optimise our social activity performance and reach through creative engagement tactics, including reinforcing Practical Action’s position as a leader in the international development sector.
• Create social media toolkits to allow colleagues and partners to use their own social media channels to share our messaging and campaigns consistently and engagingly.

Digital Content Creation & Dissemination

• Collaborate closely with colleagues from the Brand & Communications unit and beyond in the development and constant optimisation of a content calendar; sourcing stories, updates, and relevant content for digital dissemination across multiple channels including social media and websites.
• Manage the creation of digital content (copy, audio, and graphics including moving image and video), working with cross-functional teams to determine the type of content to produce, and for which platforms, to best meet audience needs and further our objectives.
• Ensure all digital content is engaging, consistent with our brand identity and narrative, and aligned with Practical Action’s strategic objectives.
• Proactively seek opportunities to promote Practical Action content through digital channels -owned, earned, paid, and shared-, identifying gaps and opportunities to develop or repurpose existing content.
• Contribute to the development of integrated communications campaigns and initiatives, ensuring strong digital components that complement other channels are factored into the plans.
• Oversee quality assurance, ensuring best practice is adhered to with regards to platform, target audience, accessibility, and other considerations.

Digital Channels Reporting

• Report on relevant KPIs highlighting key achievements, challenges, insights, and recommendations to inform ongoing optimisation.
• Support the optimisation of user experience using testing, data and insight to champion an audience centric approach.
• Stay informed about emerging digital trends, opportunities, and best practices, recommending the incorporation of relevant innovations into our approach.

Subject Matter Leadership & Guidance

• Engage and collaborate with various multi-functional departments across the world, fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual respect.
• Ensure digital channels are consistently maintained across the organisation, working with channel managers to ensure up-to-date branding, messaging, and accurate records of account access.
• Provide expert advice and proactive recommendations to colleagues, giving best practice guidance and promoting the use of digital content in support of annual business plans.
• Support the growth of digital capabilities through delivery of guidance, training, and ongoing coaching of staff.
• In partnership with the Digital Manager and the Head of Brand and Communications, develop, maintain, and ensure compliance of relevant social media policies for employees and teams to follow.

Person Specification

To be successful in the role, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

Experience & knowledge (Essential unless otherwise indicated).

• Proven experience in digital communications, with a strong focus on multi-regional websites and social media strategy and management, ideally in the international development / INGO sector.
• Demonstrable track record of creating and implementing successful social media initiatives for a wide array of audiences with diverse needs, insights, and digital consumption patterns.
• Robust experience using digital analysis and reporting tools (including Google Analytics and social listening) and applying data-driven insights to optimise communication strategies.
• Expert knowledge of each of the major social media platforms (e.g. Linkedin, Instagram, YouTube) unique opportunities and strengths, and how to leverage them to maximise results.
• Strong understanding of current digital trends, best practices, and emerging platforms.
• Knowledge of SEO, content marketing, and email marketing principles is desirable.

Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and platforms.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate digital data into insight and interpret it in simple terms to create accessible reports and actionable recommendations data and insights into recommendations and actions.
• Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g. Sprout Social), content creation apps (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and content management systems (e.g. Wordpress).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Project Management tools (e.g. Mondaycom, Trello, Asana) is desirable.
• Spotless attention to detail and commitment to high-quality outputs.

About the charity

Living in the North West, we're 25% more likely to be diagnosed with cancer than elsewhere in the UK and many cancers are much more common across the region. The region also suffers from extreme social-deprivation and health inequalities which, when combined, lead to a lower-than-average life-expectancy and poorer quality of life for our communities.

Community fundraising is an important vehicle to challenge this - by raising money and awareness.

There are two roles in the team - one full time and one part-time. Regions could be either Greater Manchester, Lancashire or North Wales - you'll be homebased with travel across the patch to meet supporters.

What will I be fundraising for?

Recent fundable projects include a groundbreaking annual Regional Report on cancer and the innovative Lab-Coat Learning education programme for the region's schools.

You'll act as the face of the charity out in the community, spreading the word about how fundraising can drive positive change. You'll develop relationships with volunteer fundraisers, community groups and local businesses, encouraging and motivating them to fundraise.

You'll deliver interactive presentations, activities and outreach sessions at schools and volunteer groups, offering support, advice and guidance on how people can supercharge their fundraising.

About the role:

This role is based in Ashford, Kent and is hybrid. This job cannot be home based and you will need to be able to travel across Kent and Medway.

As the Team Leader for our Community Team you will be:

• Responsible for the daily activities of a diverse group of staff working with people who have experienced different crime types, reporting to the Community Team Operations Manager.

• This job is a busy one so you will need to manage competing priorities, very different personalities, challenge respectfully and have the resilience to bounce back when things do not work out as you would have wanted.

• To remain empathetic whilst making sure staff are holding safe but challenging caseloads
• Able to work in partnership with other agencies and with team members.

About the role:

We are looking for a Team Leader to manage the team based in Preston covering South and Central Lancashire, supporting victims of all risk levels. It is a very busy service and a demanding role and you will need to have lots of passion, experience, drive and resilience to ensure that your team are supported effectively and delivering good quality services.

As a Team Leader you will be Supporting a team of 6-8 staff providing expert advise and guidance and conducting robust case management to ensure that your team are providing quality services and addressing the needs and risks of our clients.

You will need:

• An IDVA accreditation or equivalent
• Experience of managing a team of a similar size and scope in a comparable service.
• An extensive understanding of domestic abuse, risk assessment and risk management including experience of working with high risk victims and/or perpetrators of domestic abuse, those with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour.
• The ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and develop multi-agency responses to support victims and reduce the harm they potentially face
• The ability to advocate and appropriately challenge agencies in order to achieve positive outcomes and reduce the risks posed to victims
• To be flexible, adaptable and highly resilient.

About the charity

Living in the North West, we're 25% more likely to be diagnosed with cancer than elsewhere in the UK and many cancers are much more common across the region. The region also suffers from extreme social-deprivation and health inequalities which, when combined, lead to a lower-than-average life-expectancy and poorer quality of life for our communities.

Community fundraising is an important vehicle to challenge this - by raising money and awareness.

There are two roles in the team - one full time and one part-time. Regions could be either Greater Manchester, Lancashire or North Wales - you'll be homebased with travel across the patch to meet supporters.

What will I be fundraising for?

Recent fundable projects include a groundbreaking annual Regional Report on cancer and the innovative Lab-Coat Learning education programme for the region's schools.

You'll act as the face of the charity out in the community, spreading the word about how fundraising can drive positive change. You'll develop relationships with volunteer fundraisers, community groups and local businesses, encouraging and motivating them to fundraise.

About the role

According to Shelter, currently one in every 206 people in England are without a home. We believe the church is ideally placed to be at the forefront of addressing this critical need. Our mission at Hope into Action is to enable the local church to house the homeless and we’re looking for a Team Lead to strengthen and guide our team in Peterborough.

Hours are negotiable but will either be 4 or 5 days a week (32 or 40 hours). You will be based in the Hope into Action Hope Centre working alongside the Peterborough team and rest of Support Centre.

You will lead the current team of 6 staff to provide temporary, supported accommodation to over 40 men, women and children across 17 homes in Peterborough. 

Whilst managing the team in the daily tasks you will also work to strengthen relationships with external agencies, local authorities and agree a strategic vision for the future of the project in line with your line manager (Head of Delivery & Training). There will be a budget to adhere to and goals set in terms of void expectation and tenant finances, additionally every member of the team has annual objectives which seek to give clarity and motivation to their role. 

Each home is partnered with a local church who provide love and friendship for the tenants that you will also support. A part of the Team Lead’s role is to actively engage with the church and empower your team to do likewise. The role includes training, equipping, and encouraging staff to extol professional excellence and spiritual passion whilst also supporting church volunteers in their role as befrienders to the tenants.

Peterborough was where Hope into Action began back in 2011. We are at the forefront of providing excellent quality supported accommodation to those that need it most in the city. Partnering with 11 churches, we currently have 17 homes each serving different demographics. 

We provide not just shelter and housing but also the friendship and community of a church. Together with 100 churches, Hope into Action UK provide direct support to people whom others have often given up on. Our first home had a real heart for men coming out of prison, but homes are now available for a wide range of people experiencing homelessness: people in recovery from addiction, people sleeping rough, women and children fleeing domestic violence, people coming out of rehab, former prostitutes, refugees, those suffering mental health issues and survivors of human trafficking.

This project is a development from the first Realising the Benefits of World Heritage to Local Communities (RtB) project funded by Historic England. While the original project identified the problems faced by the World Heritage sector in engaging communities, this second phase of RtB is designed to help World Heritage UK (WHUK) and the wider sector in fully understanding who World Heritage Site communities are, and the challenges Sites and communities face in engaging wider and more diverse communities. Working with Sites, and their communities WHUK will co-create a sustainable platform in which to identify actions and solutions which will widen engagement and participation in World Heritage.

Through this collaborative approach which will inform every element of the work, the primary purpose of this 2.5-year project is to ensure WHUK can better support World Heritage Sites in the UK in engaging communities, growing audiences, enhancing community participation and growing a wider diversity of audiences and engagement within UK WHSs and the wider heritage sector.

Overall Purpose of the Role:

• Develop and improve relationships within the World Heritage sector and communities
• Develop an ongoing platform for a network of professionals who work within the World Heritage and community engagement field to come together to share and develop ideas and projects
• Develop digital resources
• Build a better understanding of who World Heritage communities are now, and use developed toolkits to understand and update this in the future
• Increase community engagement within World Heritage Sites
• Increase implementation of better community engagement

• Undertake a desktop audit of the users of World Heritage Sites, to include: defining the communities of interest and who key users are; what their motivations might be to engage with World Heritage; what the barriers might be to engagement; and subsequently identifying who any non-users might be and what barriers they may experience that prevents engagement
• Identify a minimum of 20% of Sites, of differing characteristics, to undertake an in-depth audience profile, applying the desktop audit findings in practice
• Produce a way of reporting on the impact and value of community engagement in World Heritage, which can be replicated annually and shared to all World Heritage Sites
• Develop a new way of capturing data from World Heritage Sites on community engagement to inform ongoing impact reports and create a baseline
• Create, or share, toolkits and examples of models of engagement for community engagement
• Create an online platform of resources that can be shared between all World Heritage Sites which might:

As an experienced debt caseworker, you will be able to guide and empower clients as well as negotiate with creditors on their behalf. You will evaluate the best options and strategies that apply to the client’s debt problem, looking for ways to maximise income while providing budgeting advice. Your expertise in negotiating with bailiffs, landlords and lenders, will be key in preventing possession action for rent and mortgage arrears.
