The Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association is dedicated to supporting and empowering people living with and affected by MND.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Area Support Co-ordinator to lead, manage and support teams of volunteers, develop, and maintain relationships with local services, and ensure that people living with and affected by MND receive an exceptional service, improved support, and are at the heart of our care initiatives.
A fundamental part of the role is ensuring individuals affected by MND receive tailored support. Your responsibilities will include leading and coordinating volunteer activities, developing branch and group capacity, and establishing new groups as needed.
A key focus will be understanding local needs and collaboratively planning, designing, and delivering support activities. You will build and maintain excellent relationships with our wonderful volunteers, care centres/networks, care co-ordinators and multi-disciplinary health and social care professionals, hospices, other partners.
We are in search of someone who can:
- Identify and address support issues by working with volunteers and individuals affected by MND.
- Guide collaboration within the branch and group network, fostering a supportive environment.
- Proactively manage the recruitment, selection, and induction of volunteers.
- Facilitate local learning, development, and networking opportunities for volunteers in collaboration with Association colleagues.
- Enable effective communication between volunteers, staff, and the wider Association, promoting a culture of collaboration.
This opportunity is home-based with travel requirements across Hertfordshire and Essex.
What are we looking for?
- Experience of leading directly managed and/or coordinating self-managed groups of volunteers.
- Skills to identify, assess, and respond to support needs through a person-centred approach.
- Understanding and delivery of care and support services in the statutory, private and/or voluntary sectors including value and challenges of volunteering.
- Experience of working with vulnerable people and/or carers and families.
- Demonstrable understanding of the management of risk and safeguarding.

First Give
First Give is a national charity that inspires young people to make a difference to the causes they care about. We do this through working in partnership with secondary schools, providing a fully resourced scheme of work that guides an entire year group of students to engage with local charities and causes and then carry out social action (fundraising, raising awareness, campaigning, volunteering etc.) in support of them.
At the end of each programme, a celebratory School Final is held at each school, where teams representing each class deliver presentations about their projects. The class considered to have engaged the best with the programme secures a First Give grant of £1,000 for their chosen charity. By the end of the programme, however, the whole year group will have given back meaningfully to their local community. We currently work in partnership with about 200 schools every year across England and Wales.

The Role
Our facilitators are key to the success of the programme, delivering three inspiring sessions in each school through the course of the programme. They are essentially the ‘face of First Give’, and we rely on them to bring the energy and enthusiasm that makes First Give events special for schools and students.
The purpose and role of the facilitator for each of these in school sessions is outlined below.
Role of facilitator
Assembly
The students’ introduction to the First Give programme, Facilitators ensure a positive start by delivering an engaging and informative assembly to the year group which motivates and inspires students who are about to start their First Give journey.
Presentation Skills Workshop
A two-hour presentation skills workshop which equips presenting students with the skills and confidence that they need to deliver a high standard of presentation at their First Give Final.
This workshop includes running a series of engaging activities to develop the students' presentation skills and confidence. The facilitator then works alongside the students, giving feedback and promoting discussion for how the students could create an even greater impact.
The group size can range from 30-60 students.
First Give Final
A 3 hour event broken into two halves, the Final involves rehearsal time and co-ordinating and hosting the First Give Final, which is a celebration of the social action undertaken by the whole year group.
It is at this event that the judges decide which class wins the £1,000 First Give grant for their chosen charity, and should be a true celebration of the students’ hard work across the year group.
Ensuring that this event is a success from the perspective of students, teachers, judges and all other guests. Finals are usually large-scale events with between 150 - 300 people in the audience, depending on the size of the school.
Pre & post event admin
For the delivery of each session to be complete, facilitators provide prompt and detailed feedback to the First Give central team after each event via the Salesforce CRM system. All facilitators will have a First Give Twitter account for posting about the events they facilitate too.
Person specification
- Experience of working with young people and an understanding of safeguarding
- Passionate about young people and their potential to drive social change; a passion for what First Give does and engaging young people in the social issues affecting their communities
- Experience of working with large groups (c. 30+), preferably secondary age young people, in a secondary school setting
- Very confident leader of workshops and events
- Very strong behavioural management skills
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to changing situations
- Experience of confident and engaging public speaking and presenting
- Ability to positively engage a wide range of stakeholders including young people, teachers, school senior leaders and guests
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Able to work flexibly including early starts and late finishes

The Disability Law Service (DLS) seeks an experienced, strategic charity leader who is passionate about Disabled people’s rights to join as our new part time Chief Executive Officer. You will lead a committed team of lawyers and advisers to ensure Disabled people can access those rights in full.
DLS is a pan-Disabled people’s organisation based in London, providing free legal advice, casework, and representation for Disabled people, their families, and carers. As a Deaf & Disabled People’s Organisation (DDPO), the majority of our Trustees and staff are Disabled people. We operate on the social model of disability, aiming to fight injustice and challenge the poverty and inequality faced by Disabled people, ensuring equal access to legal rights and entitlements.
We offer free specialist legal advice in areas such as community care, employment, housing, welfare benefits, discrimination, and public law. We connect Disabled individuals, their carers, and families with qualified solicitors and advisers, providing services including the MS Legal Advice Line, MS Welfare Benefits Advice, and Legal Aid Service. DLS also offers bespoke training on disability law and the Equality Act, empowering organisations to support their clients better.
Engaging in policy work, we also advocate for legal reforms, such as abolishing non-residential care charges and campaigning for equal care rights for autistic children. Annually, DLS assists around nearly 5,000 people, securing over £3 million in gains for our clients.
As our new CEO, you will lead us to grow our organisational capacity, as well as develop our policy influencing work, in order to maximise the impact we make for Disabled people nationally.

Role summary
In this role, you’ll be a key member of our small leadership team helping to strategically drive engagement, and income generation.The right candidate will need to be highly resilient with exceptional political, negotiation and relationship development skills.This role includes shared responsibility for securing income that not only sustains our own charity but leverages in significant funding for the wider sector.

Business Development
- Working with the CEO and Director of Operations, to create and deliver an income strategy focussed on meeting VSF funding targets and our aspirations around duration of contracts and grants.Ensure all opportunities to leverage funding for the wider sector are seized.
- Develop strong relationship with key influencers and decision makers within our statutory partner organisations.
- Working with the CEO to lead strategic business development campaigns such as securing second phases of funding for our key funding streams.Be a key face to put to these campaigns.
- Monitor progress against income targets, ensuring an agile approach to mitigating risk and channelling focus of the team in order to maximise return on investment.
- Work with other charity leaders and the strategic alliance to encourage sharing of ideas for income generation.

About the role

About the role
This role supports the Global Talent and Learning team by delivering global talent development initiatives, maintaining learning management and performance management technologies, and creatively leading team branding, intranet, and social media communication campaigns. The position involves administrative support, the development of training materials, managing the global training calendar, and assisting with events and projects.
About you
The ideal candidate will have graduate qualifications or equivalent experience, strong personal presence and credibility, and the ability to improve business processes and systems. Proficiency in MS Office, understanding of databases and learning management systems, basic project management skills, excellent oral communication, and relationship-building skills are essential. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate in a hybrid working environment are also important. Knowledge of digital content design for social media, web, and other platforms is required.
