About The Role
The Help for Heroes Community Development team are looking to recruit a team of Community Builders to assist in their reshaped participation and connection strategy. Using Asset Based Community Development, we seek to support the charity’s objective to enhance reach and positive impact for members of the Armed Forces Community facing challenges within their local communities.
Are you interested in the Armed Forces community and harnessing their strengths and gifts? Can you identify what already exists in an area and utilise it to create new networks and make things happen?
We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and confident people who are passionate about collaborating with communities in the design and delivery of interventions that bring and connect people together to strengthen networks within the local community. If you believe in the advantages of having a strong community, this role could suit you.
Working closely with Community Development Managers across regions within the UK, the Community Builders will play a vital role in helping to improve lives for Armed Forces Community members by creating a supportive environment that allows them to re-engage and connect with the services at Help for Heroes and with the wider community.
The main purpose of this role is to connect local people through their skills, passions and assets and support the creation of new connections, bringing people together to improve wellbeing and make the community a better place to live. This will include listening to different points of views, building relationships and motivating people to work together and create their own action influenced by their interests and skillsets to positively impact local communities and help them to flourish.
About You
You will have experience leading and facilitating the mobilisation of local communities, asset mapping, bringing together people for engagement that matters to them. You will have knowledge and experience of Asset Based Community Development work, outreach methods and you will have good organisational skills, energy and the ability to animate local communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outreach to drive local connection, engagement and participation opportunities for the AFC
- Develop and embed an ABCD informed way of work
- Asset map
- Organise and facilitate community meetings to share ideas, encourage collective decision making and build a sense of belonging
- Encourage and pilot community lead action in response to local AFC needs/interests through peer led/co-designed initiatives

PLEASE NOTE: The successful candidates will need to be based within an hour’s commute of their allocated locality and there is a requirement to travel within a 75-mile radius of this location (travel expenses covered). Flexibility in working hours is necessary to ensure a total of 70 hours is covered over a 2-week period so please take this into consideration before applying.
We are looking for someone with the following:
- A Community Development qualification and/or at least 3 years' experience working within a community development or similar role, with responsibility for bringing about social change and improving quality of life
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop relationships which lead to actions

- Experience of engaging and working collaboratively with partners/stakeholders

This vacancy has arisen as the result of the retirement of our current Fundraising & Marketing Director in Spring 2025. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced leader to take over this pivotal role within the charity.
Based across our two sites in North Weald and Earls Colne (Colchester), you will oversee the strategic management of our charity's fundraising, marketing, and communications. You will lead in the creation, development, and implementation of a range of revenue-focused strategies, and have overall accountability for a large team that generates the funds needed to keep the service operational. Role responsibilities

- Lead the team in a positive and inspirational way to maximise all opportunities across our region.

What we’re looking for

The role
We are seeking a dynamic Director of Income Generation to join our senior leadership team. This new and pivotal role will be responsible for developing and implementing robust income generation strategies to diversify and grow our funding and trading streams.

Key responsibilities
Income Generation Strategy:

Develop and execute a comprehensive income generation strategy that aligns with the charity’s mission and goals;

Identify and explore new income streams, including fundraising, partnerships, and product development.
Fundraising:

Oversee all fundraising activities, including trusts and foundations and individual giving;

Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, funders, and sponsors;

Develop compelling fundraising campaigns, events and initiatives to attract new supporters;

Oversee bids and pitches;

Act as an ambassador for the charity, championing its interests locally and nationally with stakeholders and potential supporters.
Business Development and Partnerships:

Identify, establish, and nurture strategic partnerships with businesses, foundations, and other organisations;

Develop new business and partnership engagement communications - a suite of tools and collateral;

The Associate Director for HR Operations is an exciting and new role at the College in which you will work collaboratively with all Divisions to support a range of operational and strategic HR activities, as well as embracing and contributing to College wide projects and the enhancement of the People & Culture Division.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director for People and Culture, you will take ownership for reviewing and developing policies and processes, alongside establishing innovative approaches to ER issues, change management, managing the recruitment of key hires and championing the EDI agenda.
As Associate Director for HR Operations, you will provide enthusiastic leadership, direction and development to the HR team involved in employee relations, encouraging proactive ER interventions to ensure the increased productivity and efficiency of the College.
Partnering with department managers to identify staffing needs and developing strategies for attracting, developing and retaining top talent, you will embed organisational values as well as overseeing the recruitment and selection process, conducting interviews and making final hiring decisions.
MCIPD qualified and with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, you should have extensive knowledge of employment laws and regulations as well as proven experience of working in a trade unionised environment.
You should have a strong strategic mindset with the ability to align HR strategies with business objectives, as well as a proven ability to use management information to drive activity to improve organisational performance. You will also be responsible for maintaining and improving the College’s HRIS.
Strong leadership and managerial skills along with the ability to effectively coach and mentor a team are essential, as are excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
It is also essential for you to be able to build and maintain strong relationships with employees, managers and stakeholders. Experience of working in a membership organisation would be desirable.
The HR Operations team is responsible for developing initiatives and tools to support the achievement of RCPCH’s strategic objectives. A key requirement of the team is to ensure that we attract, develop and retain the people necessary to provide the organisational agility and skills to meet the transformational change and challenges we face now and in the future.

The Regional Business Development Manager is a central part of the Southern Africa Regional team and will play a key role in helping to expand WaterAid's funding portfolio as well as building regional intelligence, positioning WaterAid's work in our key thematic areas (such as health and climate), and proposal development. Key accountabilities among others include:
Strategy
- Support country programmes in developing fundraising, donor and consortium partner strategies from a deep understanding of how to position WA's programmes within the current donor marketplace.
- Contribute to overall new business strategy in collaboration with country teams, Senior Program Development Manager and Regional Director, assessing regional performance against Key Performance Indicators and annual revenue targets.
Pipeline development and management:
- Be responsible for growing and monitoring the pipeline of relevant funding opportunities to WA country programmes, coordinating with fundraising members to communicating donor intelligence, ensuring a balanced portfolio of funding types and ambition.

Funding skills and capabilities development:

Leadership and Line management

The RBDM will contribute to strategic and operational planning processes; define and deliver an agreed set of team performance targets; and providing guidance, coaching and support in helping peers achieve optimum performance.
- The RBDM will contribute towards establishing the core new business processes of the team and will lead on and ensure effective linkages with other key stakeholders
- Identify specialist training needs in the region and source relevant expertise from Programme Funding and Partnerships team (PFP) and other external avenues to address the capacity needs in the region.
To be successful, you will need the following:
- Master's Degree level qualification in international development, economics or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- Approximately 10 years of experience in planning, securing and managing funds from institutional donors such as USAID, EC, UK Government, International Financial Institutions such as the WB, AfDB, local and international corporates, trust and foundations such as Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation etc.
- Substantial experience and knowledge of the institutional funding space and a deep understanding of bilateral and multilateral donors' routes to market

We deliver meals, groceries and formula milk, run cookery and nutrition classes, and hold twice-weekly communal meals for some of the most vulnerable and isolated people living with HIV in London.
We are the only HIV Nutrition specialist charity in the UK: we exist at the intersection between HIV, food poverty and social isolation. Each person receives a personalised Dietetic Assessment from one of our HIV Specialist Dietitians, designed specifically to meet their needs.
