What the role involves

- Work with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Board to set the financial strategy for Safer London.
- Lead the development and delivery of the Finance function, including financial systems planning, risk management and payroll and pension activities.
- Lead on the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and oversee all financial reporting - including forecasts, management accounts, cashflow statements and annual audit.
- As a member of the SLT, take collaborative corporate responsibility for the leadership of the organisation.

At Ambitious about Autism, we are looking for a Head of Participation to join our team on a 9 month MAT cover.

Please note, we will be looking for the start date of this role to be from February 2025.

You will support with developing the strategic plan for our Participation programme, ensuring alignment with our wider National Services strategy. • Recognised youth work or social work qualification or related training or equivalent experience.
• Experience of facilitating the involvement and participation of young people in a range of activities, including online and using social media.

The Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum (NNRF) is an independent registered charity established in 2000. They work with and for refugees and asylum seekers in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Role Overview:

NNRF is seeking a new Chair of Trustees to lead the organisation into its next phase of development. We are looking for someone with excellent leadership skills, strategic and governance experience, who is passionate about the needs of refugees and asylum seekers. The Chair will work in partnership with our members and Trustee board to ensure the charity runs according to its constitution and statutory obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring effective governance of the charity.

Terms:

About the position

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced HR generalist to join a leading international anti-slavery organisation. You will be leading in a London-based HR and Operations team of four staff with high levels of autonomy and the ability to make a visible difference. You will be responsible for designing and delivering an effective HR strategy for the global organisation, as well as overseeing the London-based operations team. Responsibilities

Lead the Global HR Function

· Lead on HR strategy and delivery across the global organisation – currently comprising approximately 85 staff in 10 countries

· Provide high quality and timely employee relations and change management advice and support to the Senior Leadership Team

· Manage renumeration and benefits globally, ensuring the Freedom Fund’s continuing ability to attract and retain a high performing team

· Oversee relationships with several Employers of Record and external payroll providers globally

· Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures and guidelines and staff handbooks globally

· Oversee all recruitment ensuring fair, safe and compliant recruitment practices and supporting workforce planning globally

· Lead on HR aspects of the Freedom Fund’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion vision and action plan

· Oversee new starter onboarding and off-boarding processes – including inductions on core organisational policies

· Ensure the organisation has appropriate IT systems, policies and procedures in place including in relation to Data Protection

· Ensure compliance and oversight with the organisation’s global security management framework

· Ensure appropriate insurance coverage is in place across the global organisation

· Ensure a high quality and seamlessly run office environment for London based staff

· Provide guidance and support for the Business Operations Manager in relation to governance and executive assistance support provided to the Senior Leadership Team and Board

· Manage property and maintenance budgets for the UK office and IT budgets for the global organisation

· Manage the Operations and IT team (Business Operations Manager and IT Officer)

Other

· Work with other members of the broader Finance and Administration team (Head of Finance, Safeguarding Manager and Senior Legal Counsel)

Community Development and Wind Farm Manager

Location: Hybrid, based in Uist, with a desk at old Lochmaddy School, North Uist.

UistWind has been operational since 2019 and we are pleased to have reached a point in the project to be able to fund this joint position in preparation for the first North Uist Community Benefit Fund.

The successful candidate will work with the UistWind Management Committee, its members and associated parties, to manage the Community Benefit Society’s operational business needs, meeting compliance requirements while working to maximise generation and revenue from two 900kW wind turbines at Criongrabhal near Clachan-na-Luib in North Uist for the benefit of the local community.The successful candidate will also work with NUDC and the wider community, to develop and implement both a community development plan, and a community investment plan for the UistWind community benefit fund, which takes account of opportunities to enhance the socio-economic, cultural and environmental welfare of the North Uist and Berneray area.

About Us:

Write Back is a registered charity which builds self-esteem among marginalised young people by helping them to tell their own stories. We foster self-respect, community and independent voices for young people through immersive and inspiring storytelling programmes.

We have been operational since September 2019 and, in early 2020, registered with the Charity Commission and recruited a board of trustees. We have operated on a mostly voluntary basis and are now able to secure a more sustainable model for the charity.

We are now looking to take on at least one storytelling facilitator who can expand our capacity by supporting delivery of our programmes.

What We Do:

We run 10-week storytelling programmes open to students aged between 13 and 16 and identified by their teachers as lacking confidence, self-esteem or a creative outlet. These young people are referred to us by schools in Barking and Dagenham, and are then enrolled in our programmes at the Future Youth Zone, an award-winning local youth centre. In each session we run confidence-building activities, engage with the writing of a young author and then develop the stories of the participating young people. The 10-week project also involves working with writers and artists and culminates with the celebration of the young people’s work including in books, local museum exhibitions and much more.

Alongside our main projects, we run a graduate scheme that offers new creative opportunities for young people who have completed a 10-week programme. We also run bespoke, one-off storytelling sessions for young people in collaboration with other partners.

Our sessions primarily run in Future Youth Zone near Becontree but we also deliver other projects across Barking and Dagenham. Typically each group contains around 14-20 young storytellers.

What We’re Looking For:

We are looking for a passionate, engaged and collaborative facilitator with experience of youth work and storytelling who can help deliver our programmes. Depending on the availability of the candidate and the delivery needs, this would look like either leading on delivery of one of our pilot projects or assisting with the Director in the delivery of our core programmes.

We are looking for people initially interested in joining us on a freelance basis or part time one day a week from January to July 2025. We anticipate that, as we grow, there are likely to be expanded opportunities after this.

Objectives of Role:

● To co-deliver highly impactful storytelling programmes in Barking and Dagenham.

● To collaborate effectively with other members of our small staff and voluntary team.

● To participate in the planning, delivery and evaluation of our storytelling programmes.

● To assist young storytellers in telling and writing their stories and provide empowering and impactful feedback.

● To provide feedback to schools and families about the progress of young people on the programme.

● We anticipate this opportunity running from January to July 2025 and we are hopeful that subject to funding we may be able to extend opportunities into the subsequent academic year.

Pay and Conditions:

● £35,000 per annum on a pro rata basis.

● We are keen to find the right candidate and are open to freelancers or part time employees on a one day a week basis.

● Most of our programme delivery takes place after school including in the evening and some occasional work on weekends and in school holidays. We are looking for a facilitator who can be flexible where possible.

As a small, place-based charity, we often find ourselves responding in dynamic ways to local need, whether of the children and young people in Ealing, or the grassroots charities who form our membership. This role would suit someone who gets excited about approaching opportunities in innovative ways and moving quickly to enact these. 

Our Ealing Young Champions programme has been developed over the last four years, and we have secured multi-year funding to run projects designed to engage and empower local young people to advocate for practical solutions to address the issues that they and their peers face. Whilst a core group has been established over time, the way the project is run will be set by the successful applicant according to their own experience of working with young people.

We are also about to begin an exciting new project, taking over a local Library and developing it as a hub for services for children, young people and families in Greenford, alongside a core library offer for the local community. The appointed person will be instrumental in engaging with local young people to ensure they have a say in how the building and services within it are developed.

Main Purpose of the role:

1. Manage the planning, recruitment and delivery of our Ealing Young Champions Youth Voice project

2. Advocate for and embed youth voice into the work of partners, stakeholders and members and identify new opportunities to develop youth voice and co-production programmes

3. Work with colleagues to set a strategy for embedding co-production in YEF’s organisational practice

The Head of Fundraising is an exciting new role developed for the Society to increase fundraising and develop additional income streams to enhance the sustainability of the Society. They will help deliver the Transformation Plan, an exciting new project for Scotland’s oldest learned antiquarian Society to help deliver the Society’s vision: “Scotland’s past is for everyone to research, share, enjoy and protect, home and abroad”.

The Transformation Plan includes the acquisition and redevelopment of a B-listed building in central Edinburgh to co-create the most inclusive, low-carbon and heritage-rich space to work, visit and participate. This will become a heritage hub for Scotland’s past, helping to bring heritage alive for a wide range of public audiences. This role will provide the necessary vision, leadership, and fundraising skills which will enable the Society to achieve its fundraising targets and enhance its development program.

They will be an effective fundraiser and key contact for grant giving organisations, personal donations and legacies. They will report directly to the Director sharing collective responsibility to deliver the Society’s strategy and vision.

Initially on a 2.5-year fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension subject to funding, the post will work as part of the senior management team and liaise directly with staff, Councillors (trustees), members (known as Fellows) and other organisations and individuals to ensure the successful delivery of their responsibilities.

The post will have the following immediate priorities:

· Helping develop and submit a major stage one Development Phase National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) grant application in collaboration with the Director and others, creating an engaging and successful proposal and case for support (part of an overall c£6m Transformation Plan project)

· Development and delivery of a major fundraising campaign based on personal giving, grant applications and other fundraising activities

· Working with staff and Councillors to develop the required transformation of the Society to deliver maximum public benefit in line with the Society’s vision and mission

Main Responsibilities

Strategy and planning

· Development and delivery of a fundraising campaign (including grant funding, individual and organisational donations, and other fundraising activities) for a c£6m project, setting targets in collaboration with the Director and meeting them, creating engaging and successful proposals and cases for support

· Lead the annual fundraising planning process to produce effective strategies to achieve income targets across a range of revenue streams

· In cooperation with the Director, lead the development of a long-term fundraising strategy to achieve agreed long term Society goals and vision

Fundraising

· Advising members of SMT on the availability of funds and the viability of obtaining funds to support initiatives

· Contribute to leadership decisions on all aspects of policy, development and organisation

Person Specification

The Head of Fundraising will have substantial fundraising and management experience, a talent for building relationships and a proven track record in securing funds from statutory sources, foundations, trusts and major donors. They will be a key contact for grant giving organisations, personal donations and legacies. They will report directly to the Director sharing collective responsibility to deliver the Society’s strategy and vision. As such they will need the following:

Requirements - essential

· At least three years’ experience in a similar role

· Demonstrable record of major capital fundraising leadership and delivery, ideally within a charitable organisation but others will be considered

· A track record of successful fundraising, including sizeable NLHF applications

· Experience of utilising the strength of an organisational brand for charity/business development

· Proven track record of meeting challenging income targets

· Proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder, client and donor relationships including developing and managing individual donors and development of legacy giving

This post is an initial 2.5-year (30 month) full-time contract which will be extendible subject to funding. There will be a short probationary period during which time your skills and suitability for the position will be assessed. Development of fundraising for the Transformation Plan will be the immediate priority. A lot of work has already been undertaken by the Society in preparing for an NLHF application as part of this, but the skill and experience of this post will ensure it has the maximum chance of success. This will include liaising with others, including NLHF staff and our consultants, the More Partnership.

The tasks and role will develop in line with the requirements in that application and the implementation of the Transformation Plan and will be reviewed after the submission of the initial NLHF bid. However, the core responsibilities will remain the development and delivery of successful fundraising strategies, increasing income to the Society.
