Role Overview:
Reporting directly to the Trustee Board, as CEO, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, managing operations, and overseeing the overall development of SHARe Knowsley’s services. You will lead fundraising efforts and oversee the charity’s budget to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of SHARe Knowsley. You will lead a passionate and dedicated team of staff and volunteers, ensuring that our programmes are effective, sustainable, and aligned with our mission. You will also play a key role in building relationships with local partners, stakeholders, and funders, as well as advocating for the rights and needs of asylum seekers and refugees, promoting a positive and inclusive organisational culture.

Person Specification:
The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader with a passion for social justice and human rights. You will have a proven track record in a management and leadership role, preferably within the charitable or not-for-profit sector. Ideally, you will have experience of working within the refugee, asylum, or social care sectors. You should be a strategic thinker with strong financial acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build partnerships and influence at all levels. A compassionate and values-driven approach to leadership, with a commitment to social justice and equality.

Job Details:

• Location: Based in Huyton, and at times, at the drop-ins located in other parts of Knowsley; with an opportunity for hybrid working

About the role

This senior role will provide financial and operational leadership and management for CCLC, particularly focussed on the Legal Practice Unit and the Policy and Practice Change team. Through systematic and efficient management, the post holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial and operational sustainability.

The role will oversee the smooth running of the London and Colchester offices through oversight and line management of finance, operations and administrative staff. The post holder will support the Managing Director of Legal Practice and Children's Rights and department heads in the successful running of our services. Where appropriate they will deputise for the Managing Director on financial, operational and compliance matters.

Managing a small finance team, the role will hold primary responsibility for specialist financial functions within CCLC, particularly legal aid billing. The role will act as a key point of contact for a range of internal and external stakeholders including Coram’s central finance team who focus on grant fund management and overall accounting for CCLC.

The role would suit a highly organised and efficient business support professional with experience of financial management within the legal or charity sector. In particular, candidates with experience of legal billing and more specifically, civil legal aid billing, are welcomed. However, we recognise that this is a highly specialised and niche field. As such, candidates with broad operational and financial management experience but a strong aptitude for processing large amounts of data, developing and managing spreadsheets and improving organisational systems will be considered.

This is a largely office-based role in order to fully provide support to the finance and operations team. However, some remote / hybrid working may be possible depending the experience of the candidate after the initial settling in period (to be negotiated with the successful candidate).The finance team are split between the London and Colchester offices and the post holder should expect some travel.

Whilst this is a full-time position, we will consider requests for part-time working and we will endeavour to offer some flexibility with days and hours to be agreed.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT - FTC 12 MONTHS – LONDON OFFICE

A.  Role:

To provide administrative support to the Finance Partner on a full-time basis.

B1. Duties and Responsibilities: Accounts

You will be supporting the Finance Partner and Assistant Management Accountant with the day-to-day accounts matters. We use a computerised Practice Management software called SOS. Training will be given on using this and all other systems so previous experience is not essential. You will be given accounts work gradually and fully trained on each area of work before moving onto the next level once you are confident and able. Tasks initially allocated to you will include those listed below:

•  Submitting interim cost/disbursement claims to the Legal Aid Agency - This will be your main priority
• Maintaining the purchase ledger system – receiving supplier’s invoices, checking, and entering onto our system then paying suppliers as required
• ·Paying costs draftsmen fees each month
• ·Paying all client related disbursements and posting to SOS
• ·Processing staff expenses
• Weekly reconciliations of the firm’s bank accounts
• Weekly reconciliations of the firms PBA account
• ·Topping up and reconciling the firms cash cards
• Monthly reconciliations of the partners credit cards
• Investigating and clearing residual balances
• Checking office/client account throughout the day and ensuring payments received are allocated to correct matters and informing Fee Earners
• Helping the Assistant Management Accountant with ad-hoc accounts tasks as required

B2. Duties and Responsibilities: Admin / IT

· Setting up new users’ computers, supporting users when they have minor issues with their PC’s, e.g. replacing mice, screens and keyboards when necessary.

· Liaising with our external IT suppliers

· Generally helping with tasks as required

· Archiving matters on SOS

General:

· Attending meetings.

· Providing cover to colleagues as necessary

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

The Humane League is seeking a tenacious, determined, and well-organized individual with deep knowledge of laying hen welfare and the drive to create progressive change for millions of animals. The Temporary Animal Welfare Specialist (known internally as the Temporary Global Technical Lead or Temporary Global Technical Manager) is part of a small, high-impact global team specializing in corporate outreach and policy. The primary focus of this position is to deliver advice on farm animal welfare science to inform animal welfare campaigns and corporate engagement efforts. This requires extensive research and close collaboration with other organizations in the Open Wing Alliance (a global coalition of animal protection groups) to prepare for meetings with food companies and strategize on advocacy tactics from a scientific perspective.

We want you because you are as comfortable reading and writing research papers as you are in the boardroom and on the farm. You have a deep understanding of how the egg industry works and are determined to use this knowledge to improve conditions for laying hens. You are excited to bring your knowledge to advocates around the world and work with them to put theory into practice. 

The ideal candidate is passionate about The Humane League’s mission of ending the abuse of animals raised for food and excited about working both independently and as a member of a team in a dynamic environment. While working with autonomy is an important part of this role, strong collaboration and communication skills are also paramount to your success, as is the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Global Animal Welfare.

This is a part-time (32 hours per week), temporary, remote position. The temporary hire will provide coverage while a permanent staff member is on maternity leave, and overlap will be provided for training and onboarding. Employment is expected to be twelve (12)  months in duration, beginning on approximately February 3, 2025. The duration of employment may be extended or shortened at The Humane League’s discretion. This position requires both domestic and international travel, equivalent to 3 or more week-long trips per year.

The new team member’s title will be either Temporary Global Technical Lead or Temporary Global Technical Manager, depending on their experience and qualifications. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

A Temporary Global Technical Lead is responsible for carrying out the following essential job duties, with close supervision and guidance from the Senior Director of Global Animal Welfare:

• Conduct extensive research into the scientific literature and corporate data relating to animal agriculture systems and industries. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the egg industry and laying hen welfare.

• Leverage scientific knowledge to inform the work of THL and Open Wing Alliance member groups that are working with major food companies to advance protections for animals within their supply chains. This includes producing animal welfare education materials, preparing and delivering presentations on the science behind proposed welfare policies, and communicating effectively with corporate executives and stakeholders in the animal agriculture industry.

• Collaborate cohesively with intra- and inter-departmental team members and Open Wing Alliance member groups to coordinate on strategic initiatives.

• Track industry progress, working closely with THL’s other welfare specialists and Global Research & Insights Analyst when required.

• Attend conferences, events, retreats, protests, and corporate meetings as required. 

• In addition to the above essential job duties, other duties may be assigned as business needs arise. These may include non-essential, marginal job duties.

A Temporary Global Technical Manager is responsible for carrying out all of the essential duties above with a high level of independence. In addition to the above, the following responsibilities are included in the Temporary Global Technical Manager role:

• Serve as a thought leader for colleagues at THL and other animal protection groups in the Open Wing Alliance. Provide training to help others develop their knowledge of animal welfare.

REQUIRED SKILLS

The essential qualifications required of a Temporary Global Technical Lead or Temporary Global Technical Manager are:

• Animal Welfare Expertise: Veterinary degree or master’s degree in farm animal welfare science, or equivalent experience. On-farm experience required; this experience can be educational.

• Research and Data Analysis: Advanced research skills, with the ability to quickly find and comprehend technical information on unfamiliar topics. Performs advanced data analysis and extracts meaningful insights. Handles complex datasets, applies various statistical techniques, and translates findings into actionable recommendations. Communicates insights effectively to team members to support informed decision-making.

• Problem Solving: Addresses complex problems by analyzing situations, gathering relevant information, and proposing innovative solutions that demonstrate creativity and independent thinking. 

• Adaptability, Flexibility, and Proactivity: Navigates complex changes with resilience and identifies and addresses issues proactively. Able to prioritize multiple goals simultaneously and adjust to rapidly shifting priorities.

In addition to all of the above, the following qualifications are required of a Global Technical Manager:

• 3+ years of relevant work experience engaging with the animal agriculture industry, producers, or policy makers on matters of farm animal welfare. Experience on poultry farms is required.

 The compensation range for the Temporary Global Technical Lead position is £29,963.20 - £36,621.60 GBP, and the compensation range for the Temporary Global Technical Manager position is £34,316.80 - £41,943.20 GBP. About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the South East Rivers Trust's Finance and Operations Team.  We are a small dynamic team, sitting at the heart of the organisation. The role reports directly to the Finance Manager and will provide support in administering all financial controls and processing for the organisation.  The successful applicant will come from a financial background with a strong understanding of financial principles, an accounting qualification and proficiency in Excel.  They will have experience in bookkeeping, reconciling accounts as well as dealing with banking, grant applications and expenses. 

The role would suit an individual, who is approachable and organised, with excellent attention to detail, able to work on their own or as part of a team.  The role involves liaising and following up with all teams to ensure the data provided is accurate and timely, to support grant applications, payments and audit requirements.

To be successful, they will need to be able to multitask, be proactive and have excellent communication skills, following up and advising staff across all teams.  They will need to have a positive attitude, and willingness to assist the whole team with other administrative tasks as and when required.  This role is predominantly working from home, with at least one day per week working in the office in Leatherhead.

This is a part time position (0.6 FTE) to include Monday and Thursday.  There may be a requirement to pick up additional hours to support with busy periods.

Summary of the role:

The Global Programmes Assistant reports directly to the Global Programmes Manager and will primarily be responsible for providing support functions to the International Programmes team. The role requires excellent organisational, teamwork and numeracy skills, to work with key stakeholders to ensure an effective, efficient and quality delivery of development and emergency response programmes. The Global Programmes Assistant also supports the administrative work of the department, including the preparation and tracking of project payments, and maintaining partner due diligence records.

About the Role:

1. Provide programme and administrative assistance to Country Programmes and Programmes Partnerships teams as required including support with the development and production of project proposals.
2. Responsible for updating and maintaining the Project Tracker and SharePoint site.
3. Maintain soft (and if required hard copies of) programme files, provide filing assistance to the team and support archiving.
4. Ensure the timely submission of quarterly and completion reports, and support the review of seasonal and small-medium project reports as delegated by Country Programmes and Programmes Partnerships teams
5. Maintain and review the report supporting documents including field reports, financial evidence, centrally agreed documents, media and case studies.
6. Support the development of IPD wide administrative systems.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

1. Previous experience of working within a Programme Support/administrative role.
2. Experience of working with budgets and/or processing payments.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with a variety of stakeholders and employees at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

You will be part of a small team of specialists who lead, advise and support the business and help deliver our strategy. With around 160 staff members the HR Team play a hugely important role in all aspects from recruitment to learning, wellbeing to pensions. It is a small team, and we need someone with experience to deal with the multiple facets of HR and someone who is a “doer”. You should be as happy developing strategy as you are running a welcome induction. Life will not be boring, and you will work with some incredible people, and experience some incredible stories. This role will require an experienced HR generalist with some knowledge of Payroll or a Payroll specialist with previous experience in HR. In both cases you would need a willingness to learn the other aspects.

Key tasks include

• Submit and check our payroll which is managed by Moorepay. This includes handling payroll inquiries, maintaining payroll records, and addressing any discrepancies.
• With the support of our external pension’s advisors, ensure our pension scheme is correctly governed, correct communications are sent to staff and that payments are uploaded to our Pension Scheme.
• Ensure our HR platform (Natural HR) is the single version of truth on employee details, maintained with the latest employee information and that workflows operate correctly and in a timely manner.
• Ensure our learning management system (Learning Hangar) is operating correctly, new courses are added or updated, and staff maintain recency with their compliance courses.
• Lead/oversee the recruitment and induction of new staff.
• An annual renewal of our benefit insurances supported by our brokers Mercer.
• Deal with internal employee relations matters, if they arise. e.g. OH referral, exit interviews, capability reviews.
• Coach our HR apprentice.
• Develop your own skills to ensure KSS maintains compliance with legislation on Pensions, Pay and People related legislation.
• Be the internal subject matter expert for our people systems NaturalHR (HRM), Skills for Health (LMS), and Hireful (ATS)

You will have the support from the Head of HR, a People Buisness Partner and an HR apprentice and the wider Corporate Services team. We do not expect to find anyone who specialises in all activities or the systems we use, but familiarity with any of the systems named in the job profile will be an advantage.
