Role Overview

The Junior Finance Officer will manage sales ledger transactions, ensuring accurate, timely financial data that supports the Trust's internal financial controls and monthly reconciliations. You’ll collaborate with various departments, uphold best practices, and contribute directly to the Trust’s financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

· Issue client invoices and accurately input sales receipts

· Generate and update weekly aged debtors reports

· Support the credit controller with debt follow-up and respond to client inquiries

· Complete new supplier forms and maintain accurate supplier data

· Reconcile monthly invoices and handle sales ledger queries

· Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and back up financial data

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

• Be a qualified Accountant, part-qualified or qualified by experience.
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to effectively produce information for financial stakeholders across the Trust.
• Be an experienced treasury and accounting professional who can confidently monitor cashflow, lead in liquidity reporting and forecasting, and manage working capital and analysis.
• Have experience working with banks, bank accounts, purchase ledger and procurement teams to promote effective and strong relationships.

As Group Finance Manager, you will play a leading role in the Enabling Services team at an innovative international charity focussed on climate initiatives, enabling the organization to deliver innovation that creates the change we have committed to, meet our funders’ needs, and support our partners and community 

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Group Finance Manager, will oversee and manage the monthly close process, lead the preparation of year-end financial statements for the group, and coordinate the annual audit. Key Responsibilities
 

Management
•  Manage and develop 2-3 finance assistants
•  Manage interactions with teams across the organisation, collaborating in the key processes of financial management and provide guidance and advice to the business. 

Month-End Process and Close:
•  Oversee and manage the monthly close process, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and completed within the month end timetable.
•  Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring that all discrepancies are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
•  Work with the finance team to ensure the accuracy of the trial balance and prepare key month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and provisions.
•  Ensure all intercompany transactions and balances are reconciled and eliminate intercompany profit, and are in line with transfer pricing requirements
•  Perform detailed variance analysis of key financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.

Year-end accounts process
•  Lead the timely and accurate preparation of financial information in line with statutory reporting, management accounting, and funder requirements. 
•  Coordinate and lead the preparation and audit of the consolidated Group entities and branch financials. This includes: 
o  Liaising with the external auditors
o  Preparing and managing the timetable for preparation and audit of the financial statements, ensuring all financial statements are signed off within required timelines.
o  Assisting local teams in resolving audit queries as necessary, ensuring local audits are completed on time, within budget and with minimal issues or adjustments. 
o  Preparing consolidated financial statements

Local reporting and compliance
•  Manage reporting timelines including filing deadlines for assigned funds and all branches in the structure, and that all deadlines (e.g., lenders, investors, statutory) are met. 
•  Perform high-level review of local branches companies; review financial statements prepared by local teams
•  Ensure timely compliance with donors, audit and statutory reporting as required; ensure the remediation of audit recommendations and implementation of financial / risk reporting decisions by governance bodies. 

Controls and conintuous improvement
•  Drive strong financial control and advocate financial priorities to the business.  
•  Continuous improvement of ERP system for the finance team. 
•  Support financial and performance reviews using monthly dashboard. 
•  Report financial results and ensure compliance with GDPR Guidelines.

Education/Qualifications

• Holder of a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, etc.) with over six years post qualification experience. 

Experience

• Experience in the preparation of management, statutory and Group consolidation accounts. 

• Substantial experience of working in complex entities with multi-national interests and distributed teams (working in different locations and through remote or virtual working) and experience of managing finance teams. 

• Experience of multiple sectors, ideally with a mix of public and private; experience in the not-for-profit sector/grant making environment including EU grant funding would be highly beneficial.

ABOUT THE JOB

Job Purpose 

We are looking for a passionate and driven individual to join our tight knit team and make a real impact. A key member of the finance team, working closely with and supporting the Finance Manager, in a welcoming and supportive environment with opportunities to learn and grow on the job.

The role offers the chance to work across several finance functions, including management accounting, supporting year end audit, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and so it provides a great opportunity to experience the full breadth of finance work in a charity across all functions in a varied and interesting role.

Key Responsibilities

Day-to-day finance processes

• Assume responsibility for managing the finance inbox; answering queries from colleagues; students, commercial customers, and suppliers.
• Ensure supporting information for transactions is correctly stored in electronic format on Teams such as bank statements, remittance advices, credit statements.
• Assist the operations and administration teams as and when required, including with the preparation of internal reports.
• Other ad hoc support to the finance team as may be required including administrative duties.

Accounts Receivable

• Ensure that all income from a variety of different sources is correctly and accurately recorded in the finance system on a weekly basis.
• Income and customer account reconciliations and revaluations.
• Any other responsibilities relating to Accounts Receivable.

Accounts Payable process

• Work with the bookkeeper to ensure accurate and timely recording of all approved supplier invoices, requisitions, staff expenses and other expenditure in the accounting system and that all supporting documentation for all transactions are uploaded.
• Whilst the bookkeeper is responsible for making all payments, the Assistant Finance Manager has a key role in liaising with the bookkeeper and the Finance Manager, to jointly ensure that all invoices are paid on time.
• Providing cover and setting up payments when the Finance Manager is not available.
• Determine most efficient payment platform to process international payments and ensure these are recorded in the finance system at the correct conversion rate.
• Work closely with the bookkeeper to ensure accurate and timely recording of all approved supplier invoices, requisitions, staff expenses and other expenditure and that all supporting documentation for all transactions are uploaded.
• Carry out monthly Creditor account reconciliations ensuring that all balances are valid and backed up with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Assist with the set up all payroll payments in time for the monthly pay day. This involves ensuring correct amount (which may differ from the salary of the individual’s employment contract) and method of payment across all HQ staff.

Budgeting, management accounting and forecasting

• Assist the Finance Manager and CEO with the preparation of the annual budget, quarterly management accounts and forecast.

Year End Audit

• Assist the Finance Manager with answering queries form auditors and completing balance sheet reconciliations.

Systems and Processes

At the Gestalt Centre we’re in the process of updating and embedding new systems and processes and this role will assist that work. For example, we have recently implemented new educational management and room booking systems and this role will be involved in supporting the integration of the finance and education management software.

• 5 GCSE at Grade C or above including English and Maths.
• Post-GCSE qualification such as A-Level or T-level or Degree educated.

The role

Effective financial management is central to our strategy and operating model. The Interim Finance Manager will be crucial in managing our finances and operations whilst embedding a culture of financial efficiency and effective controls.

The role has arisen to provide operational cover for the existing Head of Finance whilst they are working in a reduced capacity for 6 months (likely December to May).  It is anticipated that the Head of Finance will be working 1 day per week during the 6-month period to provide handover and support to the Interim Finance Manager. We are seeking someone who is able to work 3 days per week but are willing to offer some flexibility around this. We are anticipating the role to be mostly remote, with ideally one day per week onsite - but can be flexible for the right candidate. 

We are anticipating interviewing in the next 2 weeks with a view to the start date being towards the end of November/early December.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Interim Finance Manager will lead on financial matters and will be expected to provide critical financial information, insightful analysis and timely reporting to support the financial operations of the Charity.

The role is standalone but working within a closeknit team. It will therefore have a degree of autonomy but will be expected to contribute to the wider development of the Charity. As we operate from a small scale, the role is operational and hands-on with a focus on completing financial procedures and reporting in a timely and effective manner.

Key areas of focus

· Operational Finance

The Interim Finance Manager will ensure that all operational financial procedures are completed efficiently to enable accurate reporting. This includes ensuring that the Charity’s financial records are kept up to date and appropriately reconciled. The majority of the Charity’s income is received via third party systems and, therefore, a key part of the role is appropriately recording and reconciling this income.

· Reporting

Regular financial reporting is fundamental to the way we operate. The role will therefore lead on maintaining and reporting monthly management accounts for discussion with the CEO and Treasurer as well as providing quarterly management accounts for discussion with the Board. Naturally, this would also extend to the annual statutory accounts where the Interim Finance Manager will be the lead participant.

· Financial Planning and Analysis

Our future financial viability is as important as our current position. Therefore, the role will need to be forward looking. This will include leading on the annual budget and quarterly forecasting activities in order to enable a meaningful snapshot of expected financial performance. The role would be expected to provide financial input when considering business planning and scrutinising performance.

· Statutory Compliance

A key aspect of the role is to ensure compliance to the range of legislation that can impact the finance function. In addition to overseeing the statutory audit and adhering to financial accounting legislation, the role will need to be aware of the impact of wider regulation (Charity Law, HMRC, GDPR, etc) and to develop appropriate procedures to mitigate risk.

· Systems and Operational Efficiency

We operate as lean as we can and therefore continually improve on processes and systems. A focus of the role is to ensure that financial procedures are straightforward and efficient – this extends to reporting, controls, procedures and systems.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the South East Rivers Trust's Finance and Operations Team.  We are a small dynamic team, sitting at the heart of the organisation. The role reports directly to the Finance Manager and will provide support in administering all financial controls and processing for the organisation.  The successful applicant will come from a financial background with a strong understanding of financial principles, an accounting qualification and proficiency in Excel.  They will have experience in bookkeeping, reconciling accounts as well as dealing with banking, grant applications and expenses. 

The role would suit an individual, who is approachable and organised, with excellent attention to detail, able to work on their own or as part of a team.  The role involves liaising and following up with all teams to ensure the data provided is accurate and timely, to support grant applications, payments and audit requirements.

To be successful, they will need to be able to multitask, be proactive and have excellent communication skills, following up and advising staff across all teams.  They will need to have a positive attitude, and willingness to assist the whole team with other administrative tasks as and when required.  This role is predominantly working from home, with at least one day per week working in the office in Leatherhead.

This is a part time position (0.6 FTE) to include Monday and Thursday.  There may be a requirement to pick up additional hours to support with busy periods.

The Finance Manager is a high impact role, based in the Academy’s Finance Team, and will be responsible in advising across the organization. The Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring reliable financial reports, regulatory compliance, and analysis of financial reports. The role provides support to the Head of Finance by ensuring that key financial controls are in place and managed effectively, ensuring financial procedures are kept up to date and communicated to staff, and income is maximized by robust credit control and cash management.

Key areas of responsibility:

• Oversee the processing of income and expenditure incurred by AMS group and ensure these accurately accounted for in the financial accounts and timely closure for month-end and year-end
• Lead on the process of accurate and reliable financial accounts
• Facilitate timely management and statutory reporting, and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date balance sheet for AMS group, ensure monthly reconciliations are performed
• Ensure reconciliation of CRM (Salesforce) and booking system (Rendezvous) to finance system (Iplicit)
• Lead the cash management of AMS group, to ensure sufficient cash flow to meet operational requirements
• Process monthly payroll journals and resolve associated queries, ensuring that the Academy’s payroll expenditure reporting is timely and accurate and related balance sheet accounts are reconciled, including pension submission
• Liaise with fellowship and fundraising team and lead the preparation, reconciliation and submission of accurate and timely gift aid claims, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
• Ensure VAT is properly accounted for in line with regulations, and lead on the preparation, reconciliation, and submission of quarterly VAT returns for the AMS group to HMRC
• Line management of the Financial Accountant and 3 Finance Officers

Sightsavers is looking for a Finance Officer – Disability Inclusive Development (DID) to deliver the day-to-day financial administration of the DID programme to ensure all financial requirements of the projects are fully met.

Salary: £30,299 - £35,646 depending upon experience

The Finance Officer – Disability Inclusive Development (DID) will deliver the day-to-day financial administration of the DID programme to ensure all financial requirements of the projects are fully met. Key duties will include:

• To develop, review and amend coordinating and implementing consortium partner contracts and budgets to enable project delivery with the guidance of the Head of Inclusive Futures
• Coordinate the process for timely and accurate donor financial submissions including core monthly financial expenditure reports, forecasts and ad hoc requests.
• Work with the Head of Finance to develop tools to improve financial analysis throughout the project, for instance Power-BI dashboards, using data linked from the programme financial database (MyCLAIMS)
• Support the preparation of financial reports and forecasts for the donor.
• Deliver the day-to-day finance and administration tasks on the DID project including partner transfers, cost recovery, fund management, procurement, manage the assets register.

To succeed in this role you will need:

• Experience of institutional donor or large-scale contract management. In particular experience of FCDO funding would be useful.

The opportunity

We are seeking a skilled, experienced, and driven Finance Manager to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company’s growth and development. You will review our financial procedures and processes and where appropriate recommend and implement change and improvements. You will lead our two-person finance team, part of core services, which provides HR, IT, facilities, and marketing support for the company.

What you will be doing

• Delivery of accurate and timely financial information for the company including preparation of monthly reports as required.
• Support the CEO and Executive on strategic development through the provision of performance insights on financial and delivery metrics and management accounts, liaising with external accountants, as appropriate.
