Job description

37.5 hours per week / Permanent / working onsite on a seven-day rolling rota, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Our mission is to help children and young people have a fair chance to be who they want to be. We do this by providing a safe home, increasing life skills and self-confidence, and improving emotional wellbeing and mental health.

Worthing Foyer is a supported housing accommodation for 16–25-year-olds. We work with young people from a range of backgrounds, supporting them to identify and achieve their short, medium and long-term life goals, whilst also supporting to learn essential life skills (budget management, room management, room maintenance, rent payment and job searches). Within our team we have four Support Workers and two Night Workers, along with the management team of a Deputy Supported Housing Manager and Supported Housing Manager.

The main objective of this role is to support young people to achieve their goals and gain independence - ultimately leading to them moving on into either a lower level of supported accommodation, or their own accommodation. Your role will involve holding a caseload of around 8 young people who you will be the primary point of contact for and will meet on a weekly or bi-weekly basis for key working sessions. You will also spend a portion of your time at the reception desk supporting other young people who live at the Foyer as a point of contact for any queries or concerns they may have. You will be an advocate for the young person and will support them to ensure their voice is heard. You will liaise and attend meeting with other supporting professionals for the young people on your case load.

ABOUT YOU: We know that there are great candidates who will not fit everything described, or who have important skills we have not mentioned. If that is you, please do not hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself.

This is a dynamic and varied role; you will be passionate about being involved in the support and growth of young people. You will need to have empathy, emotional intelligence, and a level of resilience, as you may have discussions with young people around sensitive topics such as past trauma, alcohol and substance misuse, and mental health concerns. Having an inquisitive and perceptive nature will also allow you to read between the lines and spot safeguarding concerns to help support and protect our young people. The ideal candidate will also be competent with IT usage, and will be adept at recording case notes, risk assessments and support plans.
