As a Weekend Sales Assistant Volunteer you will be at the till during our busiest opening times, serving customers as the friendly face of your shop. You will help people facing poverty around the world by giving great customer service and making donors, customers, and supporters feel welcome in our shop. We’ll give you ongoing training and support so that you can feel right at home as part of the Oxfam Community!

About Us
In 2021, we began as a small volunteer group with a vision to empower young girls in Afghanistan facing immense barriers to learning by providing quality education and facilitating community-based education. As our positive impact spread, we expanded our reach to socially and/or economically disadvantaged individuals in Iran and among Persian-speaking immigrants and refugees, where the need for empowerment and educational support was equally critical.
Using accessible digital platforms and community resources, we have built a vibrant network of dedicated educators, trainers, mentors, and hundreds of eager students. Our focus has been on transformative subjects such as philosophy, critical thinking, creative thinking and writing, art and performance, workshops on mental health, environment, creative writing, and philosophical inquiries. Alongside these, we teach core subjects like maths and English and have ventured into vocational training in programming on a smaller scale.
Coempowered is seeking dedicated Volunteer Social Media volunteers who care about and are passionate about our cause. In this role, you will have the chance to use your creativity and communication skills to promote our cause and engage with our online community.

Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Set up/replenishment – setting up rails, tidy and replenish stock.
- Marketing support – hand out flyers, create social posts and other support spreading the word about the event and Newlife.
- Fitting room advisor – welcome customers in to the fitting rooms, check them in and advise on outfits, obtain other sizes for customers.
- Cash desk – helping pack and sign customers up to Newlife Style Card.
All volunteers will receive a volunteer discount of 20% that can be used on any item of stock during the two days that the pop up store is running – which is a bonus on top of our already discounted prices!

The pop up will be open from 10am – 5pm on day one (set up from 8am) and from 10am – 4pm on day two. For this role, we require a minimum commitment of one shift.

Ealing Book Festival registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in November 2023. Its objects are to advance the public education in West London’s Ealing through an annual book festival and writing-related events for the enjoyment of books. We encourage reading for pleasure, working widely and inclusively. We are volunteer led.
Our April 2024 the charity ran its successful first main event, with 86% tickets sold and very positive feedback on the quality and range of the events. The festival comprised 19 events including a great children’s poetry competition. We’re planning for April 2025.

We’re seeking excellent Teaching Assistants who want to enjoy a completely different way of working!
Our Outreach Teaching Assistants and Teachers support students who aren’t currently able to attend school, for example because of mental or physical health needs or challenges in previous schools.
This is a mobile role which requires flexibility; you and a teacher will work from a designated space in the family home, or at a local library, and offer personalized education for each student. Our ideal candidate is inclusive and uses the child as the starting point to plan an engaging and suitable curriculum which helps each child to meet their EHCP outcomes and grow academically too.
We work hard to match the right student with the right teacher and Teaching Assistant; you may be an expert with students in a particular age group (our students range from 6 to 16), subject, or enjoy working with students who have particular needs such as SEMH, hearing impairments or Autism Spectrum Condition. Almost all of our students have EHCPs, though their needs are quite varied. Our students benefit from creative approaches to learning so you can have fun with how to you teach!
Because of their vulnerabilities and often disrupted learning experiences, our students need a caring approach and our work is underpinned by the principles of Attachment Theory. To flourish in this role you must care about children and believe that every child deserves the best opportunity to achieve their potential, whatever that looks like.
The ideal candidate will also be able to develop positive relationships with parents and carers. Experience working with students with SEND or in a Special School is advantageous but not essential. We’re also interested in hearing from applicants who have other experiences in the SEND arena for example, parents and carers of students with SEND often have a wealth of valuable knowledge and experience to offer.
