Refuge is the largest domestic abuse organisation in the UK. On any given day our services support thousands of women and their children, helping them to overcome the physical, emotional, financial and logistical impacts of abuse and rebuild their lives.
Do you have significant experience of leadership in the field of domestic abuse combined with experience of running a large strategic business unit or department? To be successful in this role, you will have an understanding of housing management and relevant legislation, a strong track record of influencing and giving professional advice to senior colleagues, and experience of leading and directing in crisis situations where there is a risk to the safety of staff and service users.

About the role
We’re looking for a Supporter Engagement Assistant with Customer Service experience to join our Central Supporter Engagement Team. The team includes the Supporter Engagement Manager, an Officer, and four other Assistants. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a friendly and professional team dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the lives of those we support.

What will I be doing?
Not two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.
• To listen to our supporters and customers, understanding their motivations and circumstances and providing appropriate, professional and empathetic responses.
• Respond to and resolve supporter and customer requests, via phone, email, web chat and social media, identifying opportunities to deepen engagement and drive income generation.
• As the primary point of contact, provide support to our fundraising teams by assessing the appropriate stewardship for supporters that contact CSET.
• To provide outbound engagement calls, and any associated tasks or requests, to a variety of audiences.
• To support regional volunteer managers with the on-boarding and welcoming of new volunteers to the charity.
• To ensure that supporters’ records are kept up to date with appropriate information, including taking opportunities for scheduling proactive contacts.
• Work with your team and others within the wider organisation to find new ways of resolving problems, improving service and team efficiency.

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices are a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. We support families across Surrey and Southwest London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.
At the heart of the hospice are our dedicated clinical staffs. Their exceptional commitment and professionalism is commented on by so many of the supported children and their families.
It costs £10.5 million a year to maintain our current level of care. Only 30% of that income comes from government funding via the NHS or local authorities, so we rely on our supporters’ generosity to keep the service running. We employ 175 staff, including 98 nursing and medical staff, providing hospice and community-based services to around 700 families.
Predominantly we work with families living in the Northwest and Southwest of London and Surrey, although will accept children outside these geographical areas if they do not have access to specialist palliative care support locally. We have a reputation for delivering high quality care. We have a CQC rating of ‘Outstanding’
Introduction
Retail and Volunteers Team: Our Retail and Volunteers Team manages our charity shops and volunteer programs, which play a crucial role in supporting our mission. They recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to staff our shops and assist with various tasks, such as sorting donations and serving customers. Additionally, they oversee the operations of our retail outlets, ensuring that they are efficiently run to generate income for our hospices.
Part 1: Job Profile
a) Main purpose of job
In the absence of the manager or assistant managers to lead a team of volunteers to maximise sales, deliver excellent customer service and ensure that the shop premises and assets are maintained to a high standard, according to legal requirements and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices (SSCH) policies and procedures.
Decision Making Authority
The post holder will be required to make decisions on the quality, and suitability of donations before they are placed on sale. Depending on the length of the cover period they may be required to dress the windows. (They will follow price guidelines and existing display layout throughout the shop.)
The post holder will work with eCommerce Manager to decide if items would be suitable for selling at a higher price on eBay or through a promotional event and set these aside for the manager of the shop to deal with on their return.
The post holder will support with rostering of the team of volunteers where necessary and delegation of duties and jobs.

Part 2: Main duties and key responsibilities
a) Customer Service – 25%
• Dealing with customer queries and complaints courteously and effectively
• Informing the Head of Volunteer Development and Retail of any serious incidents or complaints
• Ensure that any refunds are processed in line with SSCH refunds policy
• Ensure that the advertised trading hours of the shop are adhered to
• Ensure relevant documents are completed in the event of an incident/accident and reported accordingly
b) Processing donations – 25%
• Process all donations as soon as possible, prioritising Gift Aid and high value items
• Prepare and clean items appropriately for display
• Oversee the recycling and arranging of collections
• Promote Gift Aid is at all available opportunities
• Ensure that the ongoing need for donations is publicised
• Price and ticket all items according to pricing strategy for the shop and ensure that all pricing and ticketing complies with legislation
• Ensure that stock is properly managed and rotated in accordance with latest guidance
• Identify high value or specialist items that may need to be sold in another capacity
c) Merchandising, display and promotion of stock, maintenance of high standards throughout the shop – 20%
• Ensure that all merchandise is displayed attractively and that the window display is eye-catching
• Ensure that there are high standards of cleanliness and tidiness in all areas of the shop
• Publicise promotions and special events
• Support and promote Corporate events as required
• Purchase consumables and stock items in a timely manner
d) Sales and financial reporting – 10%
• In the absence of the manager/assistant ensure that daily/weekly financial reports are submitted and that any discrepancies are investigated
• Keep the Head of Volunteer Development and Retail fully informed and updated regarding the performance of the shop and any issues which may impact this
• Ensure that the Manager/Assistant Manager and shop volunteer team are kept informed of the shop’s performance
• Ensure that the till procedures are always followed by volunteers
• Ensure that issues affecting trade are monitored and communicated

What is the role?
This a 12 Month Maternity contract.
Working within our values and behavioural framework, the role involves closely managing the relationships of our partner organisations (known as Licensed Organisations – LOs) and ensuring those within your portfolio offer quality and inclusive DofE programmes to young people.
While managing these relationships across your portfolio area in Newcastle, Northumberland and South Tyneside, you will also identify and develop new relationships with appropriate educational and community organisations to widen the access of the DofE to young people, particularly those who experience marginalisation.
You will be undertaking regular meetings, in person and virtually, engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders at different levels within different organisations across your portfolio area. When not out at meetings, you will be working from home.

What are we looking for?

Based within the Wiltshire Domestic Abuse Service, the IDVA team works within a multi-agency system to provide a proactive, person-centered independent service for victims of domestic abuse, empowering choice through informed decision making.
This is a temporary 6 month position, however this post is likely to be extended.
Key elements of the role include:
- Providing priority support to service users.
- Risk assessing and helping to keep service users safe through safety planning.
- Enabling victims to access statutory and other services.
- Engaging with and supporting the MARAC process, to ensure that the voice of victims is heard.
- Managing a caseload of high-risk victims and working proactively to support them and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a high-quality service to those at the highest risk.
- To provide practical and emotional support to service users, working jointly with them to carry out, implement and review needs assessments and support plans.
- To understand and work effectively within a multi-agency framework, consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse, in order to reduce the risk for service users and their families.
- Identify and assess the risks and needs of service users using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.
- Work with high-risk service users to help them access services, to keep them and their children safe.
- Advocate for high-risk service users with agencies who can help to address the domestic abuse.
- Understanding the role of all relevant statutory and non-statutory services available to service users and how your role fits into them.
- Providing information to service users in relation to legal options, housing, health and finance.
- Working directly with all key agency partners to address the safety of high risk service users and ensuring that their safety plans are coordinated particularly through the MARAC.
- Manage a case load ensuring each person receives the appropriate support, tailored to their needs.
- Support the empowerment of the service user - assisting people to recognise the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation, and help them regain control of their lives.
- Support service users to maintain existing accommodation and to advocate on their behalf, in order to access accommodation and additional support.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with specialist agencies, both statutory and voluntary, to support those with multiple support needs.
- To recognise, respect and address the needs of service users who face barriers when seeking help to access the service, including those from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, disabled people, those with complex needs and other groups which services have found difficult to reach.
- Provide practical and emotional support in relation to criminal and civil remedies, housing, health, education, employment, welfare benefits, counselling, legal aid and children’s support.

The Senior Multiple Needs IDVA will assess the needs and risks of survivors, carry out short and longer-term risk management, safety planning and support. As well as identify and refer to services appropriate to their needs. About You:
To be successful as the Senior Multiple Needs IDVA you will need to have:
Excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children, of best practice in supporting survivors of domestic abuse, and of the MARAC. As well as understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field.

About you:

What you'll bring:
NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent or experience in the social care/charity sector
Practical understanding of mental health conditions and how they impact the life of those affected by them
Excellent communication skills including a good command of spoken and written English in both formal and informal contexts
Demonstrable ability to build positive professional relationships
Experience of working as part of a team
Good command of MS Office, ability to use computer and learn new systems
