We are looking for someone to join our team supporting Unpaid Carers in Lewisham in a part-time admin role based at our Carers Hub at Glass Mill Leisure Centre. Our activities programme offers Unpaid Carers the opportunity to have a break from their caring responsibilities in a social environment where they can meet other carers and focus on their wellbeing.

You’ll work closely with the service manager to plan and arrange a wide programme of activities for young and adult Unpaid Carers. This will involve liaising with providers, ensuring health and safety, insurance and other checks are in place, arranging resources and refreshments, completing risk assessments and booking venues.

You will promote activities to Unpaid Carers, manage bookings and respond to queries. As the role is based in our Carers Hub, you will interact with Unpaid Carers visiting the team or enquiring about the service. You will also provide additional admin support to the team as needed.

Applicants should have experience in an admin role and excellent customer service skills. You will require exceptional communication, organisational and written skills, and should be a proactive and creative thinker. You must be proficient in using Word and Excel, with experience of using databases.

The part-time hours (22.5) can be worked as 3 full days or shorter days across the week. Some flexibility is required for occasional evenings or Saturday working.

Shine has a membership of over 14,000 members living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,500 associated members.

In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in members who are living with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. There are currently just over 600 members with NPH, plus their carers registered, but we are expecting this to continue to rise as awareness and diagnosis of the condition grows.

About the role

We’re looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, transferrable customer service skills and experience of working with complex personal data to join our Volunteering Team.

The main purpose of this role is to ensure the best possible volunteer experience and that Young Lives vs Cancer holds and maintains appropriate records and data on our volunteers in line with volunteering best practice, safer recruitment and GDPR. 

 Accurate data is critical to the safe delivery of volunteering. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining volunteer records on relevant systems including database and our Learner Management System and overseeing volunteer recruitment and on-boarding ensuring compliance with minimum standards and reporting as appropriate. 

This role interacts with stakeholders across the whole of the organisation and is often the first point of contact for volunteering process and procedures.

What will I be doing? 

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in our Role Details document. 

• Supporting the full volunteering life-cycle including recruitment, on boarding, training, reward & recognition
• Managing and responding to volunteer enquires; escalating/signposting as appropriate and ensuring records are maintained
• Maintaining and developing the Volunteer Management Guidance Hub; ensuring colleagues are able to self-serve wherever possible 
• Offering support and guidance, signposting to resources to facilitate a consistently excellent volunteer experience
• Working with key stakeholders including Income Generation, Governance & Assurance, Services and Insight to report against compliance and governance requirements
• Leading on streamlining and standardising current processes to enable sustainable and strategic growth

• Social welfare advice social prescribing: Specialist support delivered by a qualified social welfare advisor to address housing and benefit needs.
• Mental Health Community Connectors: Supporting people with serious mental illness (SMI) to achieve better mental health and wellbeing, increasing independence and reducing reliance on services.
• Community self-referrals: Designated link worker receiving social prescribing self-referrals from the Centre.

About the Role

You will be working in one of three dispersed properties within a multi-agency team of other charities in the same accommodation which will be based in Havering. It is a therapeutic service to provide young people with an opportunity to a fresh start. The Senior Progression Coach is responsible for contributing to the effective and safe delivery of the service on a day-to-day basis. Job Title: Perinatal Peer Support Co-ordinator Halton & Warrington

Location: Homebased with travel to Halton and Warrington 

Are you passionate about supporting parents to get off to the best start with their new babies? Do you understand the impact wellbeing struggles can have on early parenthood? 

We are looking for an energetic, talented individual to join the NCT Parents in Mind Halton and Warrington team, co-ordinating the delivery of our perinatal mental health peer support across the area – until March 2025 (possible extension based on funding). This role is largely home-based but will include travel (sometimes at short notice) across Halton and Warrington - so the ability to travel and a flexible approach to working are essential. The post will be for 24 hours per week. 

About the role 

The post holder will use their excellent listening skills, sensitivity and empathy to refer service users into the peer support service, making sure we are the right fit for their needs, and if so, matching them with our fabulous team of volunteer peer supporters. The project co-ordinator will also monitor and take feedback on the experiences of the clients in our care, and support those who need additional/alternative support into other local services. 

The role will require the confidence to network with and occasionally present to local clinical and partner agencies across maternity and mental health sectors, to integrate the service into local pathways and build relationships with - and the profile of - the service. 

You must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to quickly create rapport with volunteers, service users, NCT practitioners and a range of staff from local services. An understanding of mental health challenges is also essential to the post. This is a complex project, so you must be able to confidently prioritise your own work, be highly organised and able to work independently. The post holder will be an ambassador for the service across the locality, so outstanding relationship building skills are vital. Good IT skills will also be required – including use of Outlook, Word and Excel. Ideally you will also have the skills to be able to engage with parents via social media. 

It is essential for this post that you are, or undertake the training to become, a Parents in Mind peer supporter. This training requires lived experience/close support of another who has experienced wellbeing difficulties during the transition to parenthood – full accredited training would be provided. 

The role is home based but will require travel to Halton and Warrington

The Community Leader will oversee the management of our community services and activities, ensuring the programmes align with local needs, our strategic goals and available funding. 

Key Responsibilities

·Design and implement a comprehensive activities programme that addresses the social, educational and wellbeing f the community.

·Manage the day-to-day operations of our programme, ensuring the seamless delivery of activities and collaborating with all stakeholders to provide high-quality, holistic services.

·Ensure effective project management practices are consistently applied in your work, fostering efficiency and accountability.

·Oversee the monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of all community activities, ensuring they align with funding requirements and high-quality reports are provided to funders and partners.

 ·Work closely with colleagues and key stakeholders to identify funding opportunities, and prepare and submit high-quality funding applications.

·Build trust and strong relationships with local residents by organising co-production, engagement and consultation opportunities that involve people with lived experience.

·Collaborate with community members to develop and support campaigns that drive change for specific resident groups and continuously improve our referral processes to provide comprehensive support.

·Work with partners, community-led groups, and representatives across various sectors and organisations to enhance support for community members.

·Develop engaging marketing materials, including leaflets, website content, and social media posts, to ensure our services are widely advertised and accessible to a diverse audience.

·Oversee all administrative aspects of project activities and coordinate volunteer and staff schedules.

Key information

Salary: £37,000 – 39,000 per annum (pro rata £31,700 to £33,400)

Hours: 30 hours per week (over a minimum of 4 days)

Contract: Fixed term contract until 30 April 2026 (extension subject to funding)

You’ll help deliver our Young Carers service across Havering, so a car driver is essential.

In this role, you will manage an existing caseload and new referrals, meeting with families and Young Carers to complete statutory assessments and create action plans. You‘ll provide support for Young Carers to reduce the impact of their caring role and improve their resilience, educational chances, and wellbeing, through signposting to local services, in-school support, one-to-one sessions, and workshops.

There will be opportunities to work closely with schools, Children’s Services and other agencies to raise awareness, identify hidden Young Carers, and ensure Young Carer needs are understood and acted on.

You will need to be confident, approachable and self-motivated, with the ability to quickly establish rapport with children and young people. Applicants should have relevant experience of working or volunteering in education, health or social care, or be looking to start a career working with children or young people.

This is a part-time role, ideally working Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (including occasional early evenings).

Job Title: TACT Connect Engagement Practitioner

The Community Engagement Practitioner will be an essential contact and facilitator for existing scheme members. The post holder will provide consistency and enthusiasm across all activities while ensuring all practices are underpinned by co-creation, delivery and future development of the scheme by the members of Connect. This is an exciting opportunity to be alongside our members and to provide day-to-day practical support, signposting, and safe spaces for membership interaction. Whilst being homebased, the Community Engagement Practitioner will be required to work flexibly including regular evening working and occasional weekends as well as travelling for team meetings, member events, training and other in person events. 

The main role requirements for this role include:

• A degree in social work or similar equivalent qualification / experience.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and young people and adults from the age of 15 years upwards.
• Experience of developing and maintaining community spaces.
• Experience of developing and maintaining relationships with, providing support for and serving as a positive role model to care experienced people.
• Experience of using digital technologies to engage and communicate with members / stakeholders.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and knowledge of fostering and care experience.
• Excellent communications and facilitation skills, with a variety of audiences, through various medium and in person
• Willingness to work flexibly according to the needs of the scheme members and activities
• Willingness to travel and occasionally stay overnight, for events around the UK

With 1 in 5 children struggling with their mental health, our surf therapy intervention is needed now more than ever. We transform the lives of children struggling with depression and anxiety. Through our 6 week course we help them to feel calm, confident, to have positive thoughts about themselves, to have higher self esteem and trust in others. We work with over 2000 children and young people across the UK every year and have reached over 14,000 over the past 14 years.

We are looking for a dynamic and detail orientated leader to cover our Head of Learning and Development role to ensure that our people learn the skills and gain the knowledge that they need to do their best work with our clients.

About the role:

We're looking for someone with the values, skills and knowledge to lead our learning and development function for a fixed period that will include project, budget, team and people management, developing new programmes of learning, commissioning training, developing an annual training plan and developing current systems and processes.

Particular projects and workstreams that you would pick up in this role would include developing and rolling out a new programme of learning for our night staff, increasing our benefit from apprenticeships and building on our existing training for future, new and established managers.

Hybrid working is the norm for us at the moment, so a mix of home and office working is what you'll get, as well as our other benefits. The Learning and Development Team share responsibility for opening up our training spaces across London, so expect to regularly (roughly 2 days per week) be working across multiple sites including Vauxhall and Leyton. It's a great opportunity to network with staff across various SHP services.
