About us
Who we are
Highbury Vale Blackstock Trust is a registered charity that owes and manages Elizabeth House Community Centre. A thriving community centre that focuses on children, young people and families' health and wellbeing.
The centre is located in the heart of Highbury, close to Finsbury Park. We have welcoming facilities used by a wide range of services and groups.
Our culture and values

Welcoming - inclusive, friendly, approachable to all
Solidarity - support those who need it the most in our community
Collaboration - stronger for working together and bring transformative change
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Everything we do is grounded in our four values: respect, solidarity, collaboration and accountability. We are inclusive and respectful, living out our values in the way we treat each other.
Elizabeth House operates in some of the most diverse boroughs of London. We are working towards a goal where our team fully reflects that diversity and difference in lived experiences.
The Charity, HVBT, is committed to providing equal opportunities in employment, volunteering and in access to our events, support and services and to avoiding unlawful discrimination. This includes a commitment to;
· Tackling social exclusion, inequality, discrimination and disadvantage;
· Promoting equality of opportunity and making reasonable adjustments;
· Ensuring all people are treated with dignity and respect, valuing the diversity of all;
· Working together with the community (through consultation) to deliver services, practical support and events that are accessible, appropriate and delivered fairly to all;
· Working flexibly and being responsive to the changing needs in the community;
· Continuing our work to ensure the diversity of our trustees, employees, volunteers and any groups reflects, as far as possible, the diversity of the community we support;
· Encouraging traditionally disadvantaged sections of the community to participate in decisions about, and the management of the services provided;
· Providing fair resource allocation across services and among groups operating at Elizabeth House.
We are fully committed to running a recruitment process that underlines our commitment to racial justice and wider inclusion and diversity. We want Elizabeth House to be a place where our individual differences and contributions are truly recognised and valued. We particularly encourage applicants who are currently underrepresented in our board, workforce and wider sector. This includes but is not limited to candidates who identify as being from Black, Asian and other ethnic backgrounds from the global majority, and candidates who identify as being disabled. We also welcome applicants with their own lived experiences of the challenges we aim to address.
