In this role, you’ll support a visually impaired Guide Dogs Employee and Guide Dog owner, helping them perform their duties effectively through a mix of remote and in-person support. In-person support will be required once or twice a week locally in Stevenage involving tasks such as providing sighted guidance to navigate unfamiliar environments, helping with access to systems on a laptop, or describing the layout of rooms at events.

Your Microsoft Office expertise will be put to great use as you assist with a variety of administrative tasks, including document formatting, PowerPoint presentations, and note-taking. Your eye for detail will ensure that all documents are clear, accessible, and well-organised.

You’ll also help with travel arrangements as and when required, including collecting the employee from home and going to train station or providing a lift from their home to various Guide Dogs sites. A full, clean driving license and access to a vehicle are essential. You’ll provide sighted guidance, ensuring the employee can navigate unfamiliar environments with confidence. As the employee is a Guide Dog owner, being comfortable with dogs and helping with their care, such as exercise, will be part of the role as well.

Your excellent communication skills and person-centred approach will be key in building a close, trusting relationship with the employee. Flexibility will also be crucial, as you’ll need to adapt to changing tasks and demands.

This role requires the ability to work under pressure and take initiative, managing your workload efficiently. Whether assisting with travel, preparing documents, or providing sighted guidance, your proactive attitude and organisational skills will be key to your success.

You will be fully trained in tasks such as sighted guiding and how to work confidently around a Guide Dog, ensuring that you feel supported and equipped, even if you haven’t had experience in this space before. The role is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Occasional flexibility will be required to work outside of core hours, including weekends and overnight stays.

About the Role

We are now recruiting for two Case Workers who will each manage and support a caseload of Black and minoritised migrant women with multiple and complex needs in contact with the criminal justice system and under immigration restrictions, providing holistic, long-term support and advocacy to empower women to rebuild their lives.

This role will support women, including young women, being released from prison to the London area, encompassing support for those on probation, ‘through-the-gate service’ users, un-sentenced women in custody and women in contact with the criminal justice system in London. The post holder will proactively develop partnerships, acting as the main point of contact for referrals in prisons, detention centres and with probation staff to identify Black and minoritised migrant women who are eligible for our services and support.

These roles will involve managing and supporting a caseload of 25-30 women at any one time, working collaboratively with each service user to develop an individual support plan with achievable and realistic goals, and supporting her to work towards them. It will include supporting women to participate in education, training, providing outreach support, and ensuring the women they work with have a clear understanding of their rights and obligations by providing up to date information on housing, health and welfare benefits. The post holders will be responsible for maintaining detailed case notes, goals, activities, participants’ attendance for funding and monitoring purposes.

The post holders will also be expected to effectively manage safeguarding issues and concerns, ensuring they are appropriately documented and referred. The successful candidates will also provide cover and support for our Women’s Centre and workshops

About you

We are particularly keen to attract talent from Black and minoritised communities and those with lived experience of immigration and the criminal justice systems, and/or violence against women and girls.

The successful candidate will have significant experience of working directly with Black and minoritised women, including young women under 30, affected by the criminal justice system, the immigration system, and/or violence against women and girls. You will have a good understanding of the specific intersectional issues faced by Black and minoritised migrant women in the criminal justice system and on release.

You will have demonstrable experience of delivering individual support, wellbeing, advocacy and empowerment interventions to women with complex needs, practicing a trauma-informed, women-responsive approach in your casework provision. You will be confident in providing information and advice on a range of matters including immigration, welfare, education, training and employment, providing advice in line with IAA (previously OISC) accreditations.

You will have a solid understanding of safeguarding needs, identifying and managing concerns and risks and adhering to internal policies and procedures. This will require an ability to maintain clear boundaries, maintain high levels of confidentiality and demonstrate a proactive approach to working.

You will also have an understanding of one of more of Hibiscus’ key work areas – criminal justice, immigration and migrants’ rights, racial justice, and/or violence against women and girls and gender justice.

Playskill is a Hertfordshire based charity supporting pre-school children with physical disabilities & delays and their families. Across two sites in Watford and Hemel Hempstead, our work helps to build family resilience in the pivotal early years of a child’s life. Our specialist early intervention work delivering multi-disciplinary therapeutic play sessions, parent training/modelling, family social respite events and family support provides holistic family centred work aiming to build foundational skills for life. 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Paediatric Physiotherapist to work in an interdisciplinary team alongside an Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, specialist workers, family support workers and the families/carers of the children within groups in Hemel Hempstead on Fridays. 

As a Clinical Care Manager, you will also play a pivotal role in overseeing the clinical operations within the charity. Providing strategic direction and leadership to therapy teams, ensuring alignment with the charity’s mission and goals including the recruitment, training, and performance of therapy staff; fostering a supportive and effective work environment. You will be responsible for ensuring that our children and families receive the highest standard of care while supporting our dedicated team of therapists.

This role requires an experienced physiotherapist with excellent organisational and communication skills, as well as a deep commitment to service delivery, clinical governance and quality improvement to ensure the highest standards of care. You must be able to engage with other agencies to ensure collaborative practice for best therapeutic outcomes. As a self-starter, you will be able to use your own initiative, problem solve and prioritise, with good planning and organisational skills. Are you passionate about empowering young people and making a difference in your community? We’re looking for a dedicated and proactive Homelessness Prevention Coordinator to support young people in need, offering guidance, support, and opportunities for a brighter future.

As a key part of our team, you'll work alongside young people to provide homelessness crisis support when needed. You’ll get to meet and engage with volunteers, partners, and the wider community, helping to reduce youth homelessness through education, life skills, training, and collaborative partnerships.

The Homelessness Prevention Co-ordinator will support young people by assessing their housing needs, facilitating placements, liaising with our volunteer hosts and providing crisis support where necessary. This role involves partnership working with other agencies, delivering life skills training, and promoting available services to reduce youth homelessness. The successful candidate will also play a key role in community engagement through education programmes and events.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for Advocates to join and shape this service covering Dundee Your role will require you to travel to locations such as clients’ homes, hospitals, care homes and within community settings across the area to meet with clients and professionals. You will be home based for administration; therefore, access to your own transportation and a suitable home internet connection is essential. 

About you

Desirably you will have some experience of working in advocacy, or providing welfare, supporting, or caring for Adults who have support needs, ideally for those with a variety of communication needs, mental ill health, physical health issues, or barriers to accessing support.

You should have worked or volunteered in health, social care, welfare, support services, education or young person’s services, or advice and guidance. 

How will you make a difference?

You will be responsible for ensuring the individual’s wishes, feelings, beliefs, needs, and values are met to create positive outcomes for the people you support.

You will support people to speak up for themselves and grow in confidence, equip them to understand and exercise their rights and options, and will assist them in the decision-making process relating to their care, treatment, and support.

You will work resourcefully and collaboratively with the individuals you support.  You’ll be creative in your approach to empower our clients by ensuring you meaningfully explain people’s options and rights to them.  You’ll support individuals to fully participate in decisions affecting them and will make sure they have their voices heard.

How are staff supported to work remotely? 

VoiceAbility has a small number of offices. Employees including Team Leaders are homebased for Administration and meetings will be held online as well as in person in the relevant community. 

When you need to travel for work, expenses will be paid (mileage or public transport costs).  

VoiceAbility offers the usual regular manager one to ones, Staff forums and communities of practice depending on role. Team meetings with a mix of virtual and in person approach.
