Team: Feline Research

Location: Remote

Work pattern: 35 hours per week

Salary: Up to £43,003.67 per year

Contract: 12-month fixed term contract

Responsibilities of our Feline Welfare Associate Researcher:

  • work on a diverse range of epidemiological and related research projects relevant to the objectives of the charity both internally in Cats Protection and in collaboration with academics and other animal welfare organisations
  • manage multiple studies within a range of research areas
  • lead and collaborate on the development of peer-reviewed publications, providing scientific and statistical methodological expertise and performing data analysis

About the Feline Research team:

  • provides the charity with scientific feline welfare research expertise and works to increase veterinary, behaviour and epidemiological knowledge, understanding and decision-making for the benefit of cat welfare.
  • responsible for ensuring that both the behaviour and welfare, husbandry and treatment of cats in Cats Protection's care, and cat care advice for wider stakeholders is maintained to a high standard at all times.
  • work is varied and has included clinical, epidemiological and human behaviour change studies

What we’re looking for in our Feline Welfare Associate Researcher:

  • degree in veterinary medicine, biological science, animal welfare, epidemiology or related subject
  • post-graduate qualifications in epidemiology or a relevant biological science
  • proven experience undertaking epidemiological studies including writing papers and undertaking academic literature searches
  • experience collecting and analysing survey data
  • commitment to animal welfare
  • self-motivation and the ability to work on own initiative, individually and as a proactive team member
