We are hiring! We have a job vacancy for a Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) / Dementia Coordinator.

Shine has a membership of over 13,500 members living with SpinaBifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,000 associated members.

In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in members who are living with NPH across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. There are currently just under 600 members with NPH, plus their carers registered, but we are expecting this to continue to rise as awareness and diagnosis of the condition grows.

We are looking for an experienced, skilled, organised and dedicated new staff member to join Shine’s Services team to develop and lead our new NPH service.

(dependent on proximity to our Head Office in Peterborough, with travel across England, Wales & Northern Ireland as required)

Purpose of Job 

To provide the foundations for improved health, social and emotional outcomes for adults living with NPH and to support their families/carers.

To focus primarily on delivering 3 of Shine’s 7 Strategic Goals all of which drive Shine’s ambitions:

·  Goal 3: Adults of all ages with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus have the choices and opportunities to live healthy and independent lives

· Goal 4: A connected community

· Goal 7: Transforming attitudes and improving access to health and care services through engagement, partnerships, research and campaigning   

And contributing to delivery of other strategic goals as appropriate.

Staff management:

1. Shine is committed to providing quality advice and support. As service lead you will provide supervision, training, guidance and support in line with Shine’s HR processes and procedures to other members of staff who are involved in the delivery of work for the NPH service.

Project management:

1. Evaluate existing support for members living with NPH and their families/ carers within Shine

2. Develop and grow the service based on the needs and voice of our members

3. Lead the support of members living with NPH and their families/ carers across England, Wales & Northern Ireland

4. Develop annual work plans, which will enable continued development and delivery of the NPH service

5. Create a framework for the service and develop Shine colleagues to support delivery in key areas

6. To provide training to upskill colleagues in dementia

7. Create greater consistency across all Nations by developing strong working relationships with key colleagues in England, Wales and Northern Ireland

8. Drive collaborative working with the National Programmes and Engagement Manager and the National roles – particularly Health and Benefits

9. To manage any specific project budgets, ensuring spend is planned, within budget and allocated to the appropriate cost centre 

10.  Maintain an oversight on data capture and data management for the work on NPH, alongside the Director of Services develop outcome measures to demonstrate impact

11.  Work in line with GDPR, maintaining confidential member records providing clear and accurate record keeping for monitoring and evaluation

12.  Identify new potential sources of funding as the project develops and contribute to funding bids as requested. 

13.  Working with colleagues in Services, Fundraising, Marketing, Trust and Foundations colleagues and Shine’s membership to identify opportunities for long-term sustainability of the work.

Delivery  

To manage all enquiries from our members living with NPH and their carers, providing direct one to one support and advice including-

·  Welfare benefit/ income maximisation advice

·  Condition specific support to enable the person living with NPH to have choice and control over their current and future care needs.

·  Signposting /referring to more specialist information and support, internally or to other local, regional or national organisations 

You will also:

· In collaboration with Shine’s National Programmes & Membership Engagement Manager, Health and Services colleagues and external partners, lead the delivery of the NPH awareness week once a year

· Review existing and develop new resources for members with NPH alongside the Health team

· Develop and deliver an annual programme of events and peer support groups for members with NPH and their families and carers

· Oversee social media, Facebook and WhatsApp support groups

· Organise steering groups, providing opportunities for Shine members to guide the development of the service, and engage in consultations and research

· Develop partnership opportunities and closer working relationships with health professionals, statutory organisations and charities

· Identify key campaigns to improve the rights of members with NPH, improving access to statutory services, access to NHS care, awareness regarding diagnosis and treatment.

Person Specification 

Experience – essential 

· A minimum of 3 years' experience of working with older people living with dementia

· Experience of project management and delivery

· At least two years’ experience of delivering support and advice services for older people.

· Ability to build strong relationships both with internal and external stakeholders

· Ability to develop and deliver professional presentations and training in a variety of settings 

· IT literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft 365 and confident in the use of CRM Database systems

· A good knowledge of adult safeguarding policy, procedures and reporting

Founded nearly 20 years ago by Jane Howorth MBE, the British Hen Welfare Trust is a national hen welfare charity which rehomes over 60,000 hens a year around the UK. Based in mid Devon, and affectionately referred to as Hen Central, the charity works collaboratively with the industry, public, and many national stakeholders to improve hen welfare and raise awareness of hens around the globe. In addition to rehoming hens, our work extends further to education, mental wellbeing, nutritional campaigns, and global veterinary initiatives. About the role

This is a very exciting time to join the team, with the imminent rehoming of the millionth hen and the national coverage this presents, you will have the opportunity to make this role your own. You will be an enthusiastic, organised team-player who shares a passion for hen welfare and will have demonstrable community fundraising experience working in the charity sector.

The full-time role of Community Fundraiser is a new position in a recently restructured Fundraising team, working with the Head of Fundraising, Individual Giving Manager and Corporate and Trust Fundraising Manager. This is a home-based role with regular travel to Hen Central for meetings, events and ad hoc tasks so it would be ideal for someone who is South West based. You will be responsible for developing relationships with existing and new community fundraisers on supporter-led activity and engaging them in our fun and exciting fundraising income streams such as Egg Club, Bake! for Hens' Sake! and Sponsor a Hen to meet objectives and income targets.

Main Purpose of Job:

The purpose of this exciting new role is to raise community fundraising income by building and developing relationships with key community fundraisers, community groups, fundraising volunteers, schools and community stakeholders. As the main lead in the charity for community fundraising, you will encourage, motivate and promote the work of our dedicated and loyal community fundraisers on their varied and wide-ranging fundraising endeavours to maximise income and support of the BHWT.

You will also take responsibility for our established community fundraising streams unique to the charity; Bake for Hens’ Sake!, Egg Club and Sponsor a Hen, ensuring we spread our message far and wide and recruit new supporters to help hens.

Main responsibilities:

1. To grow and develop community fundraising income working with key fundraisers and community groups in the BHWT audience.

2. To provide a high standard of donor care, ensuring all donors are thanked and acknowledged appropriately on time and communicated with regularly with care, thought and attention to detail.

3. To project manage and develop our key community fundraising income streams; Bake for Hens’ Sake!, Egg Club and Sponsor a Hen working closely with Marketing and Communications colleagues to actively promote and share stories to thank and encourage new supporters to sign up.

4. To act as the charity’s main lead for all Community Fundraising related activities and respond to and/or direct all incoming Fundraising enquiries where appropriate.

5. To work with the Head of Fundraising to develop a calendar of supporter-led running events in 2025 and beyond, ensuring places are promoted and that prospective runners are well supported and managed in order to reach individual targets.

6. To work proactively with Marketing and Communications colleagues and provide compelling and engaging content for use in communication channels including the BHWT’s supporter magazine and social media channels to encourage supporters to fundraise for hens and thank/acknowledge.

7. To manage and facilitate communications effectively across key community fundraising streams to aid retention and secure future support e.g. the quarterly newsletter to Egg Club and regular updates to the Sponsor a Hen audiences.

8. To provide monthly reports to the Head of Fundraising in all areas of Community Fundraising.

9. To administer the various elements of the fundraising streams e.g. sending out fundraising packs and thank you letters.

10. To ensure compliance with all relevant legislation including GDPR and data protection.

11. To maintain accurate records on SharePoint and Salesforce.

12. To provide support to other areas of fundraising where appropriate and undertake ad hoc tasks from time to time as required within the charity.

13. To attend events on behalf of the charity from time to time.

Key qualifications, skills and experience

• Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or experience
• Demonstrable experience fundraising for a national charity
• Proven experience in managing and developing relationships with community fundraisers to raise funds

Our expert team of canine behaviourists provide behavioural support and advice to teams within Battersea, members of the public, and the rescue organisations we work with around the world. The team design and help implement behaviour modification and training plans for dogs whilst coaching members of the canine care groups through the practical day-to-day steps. They also assist with behavioural and welfare assessments of animals who come into our centres and are on hand to help manage and provide further support with dogs with more complex behavioural needs. We are now looking to recruit a Canine Behaviour and Training Advisor for our team in London. Within this role, you will work with our operational teams in the assessment and welfare of the dogs in our care and in the provision of behavioural training and advice for staff, volunteers, customers and external organisations. You will be working as part of a care group to create behaviour modification plans, support with handling difficult dogs and make recommendations, along with the individual care group, for individual dog outcomes.

We are looking for a pro-active and experienced Project Support Worker to co-facilitate the Transitions project.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This newly created role will be responsible for defining, shaping and implementing key processes and systems related to programme management, and overall business operations including finance. These processes will enable us to streamline our business and support the needs of our companies programmes and funding requirements.

In addition, this role will be responsible for overseeing our facilities management and internal operations to ensure we are compliant and have H&S at the heart of everything we do.

What you will be responsible for:

• Be responsible for all aspects of the management, development and maintenance of SCA Port Hope building, site and its external premises. 

• Ensure statutory inspections and routine checks on health and safety and security are scheduled, undertaken, accurately recorded and, where appropriate, and reported in a timely fashion. This includes fire and security alarm systems and equipment, any others that are relevant. 

• Liaise with relevant authorities in the management of the site and buildings eg the Environment Agency, Birmingham City Council etc as required. 

• Manage the provision of services eg insurance and utilities, working with the Executive Director to undertake due diligence and secure competitive quotes. 

• Oversee the company’s compliance with all legislative and contractual requirements. 

• Commission and manage relationships with all contractors working within the buildings and external premises, including maintenance as required.

• Plan the delivery of all capital works to the building with the production manager (funding pending) 

• Act as a key-holder and be on call should issues occur out of hours. 

• Ensure procedures and processes are followed to protect the security of the buildings and site. 

• Work with the freelance staff to ensure they have the appropriate training on Health and Safety, First Aid, Manual handling etc. 

• Prepare required reports and recommendations for Team, Board and funders as required. 

• Manage operational contracts such as refuse collection, etc.

• Lead on the organisation’s Health and Safety Strategy, including provision of adequate first aid and fire safety. 

• Oversee and ensure implementation and communication of site and operational risk assessments.

• Ensure compliance with all legal obligations and licensing requirements including: Public Entertainment, Health and Safety, PAT testing etc. 

• Take a lead on SCA environmental responsibility, ensuring SCA seeks to reduce its carbon footprint and we operate as efficiently as possible, including waste disposal, disposal of used areosols, recycling schemes and reporting of such to funders. 

• Advance planning of production schedules in conjunction with the Studio Assistant to ensure that events can be set up in good time.

• Ability to support a variety of configurations of our multi-purpose space with some basic technical knowledge.  Specialist training will be provided.  This will include audio visual display equipment, basic sound systems, setting up multi party Zooms, seating and desk configuration.

ABOUT YOU:

• Experience of managing the maintenance and operation of buildings. 

• Knowledge of safety and workplace legislation and experience of managing and delivering a policy and activity eg risk assessment writing and review. 

• Experience of setting and managing budgets and financial projections to ensure best use of resources through prioritisation and planning. 

• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload. 

• Self-motivated, practical and flexible with a positive outlook and can-do attitude. 

• IT literate, with experience in using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. 

• Interest and/or experience in technical delivery

Main Purpose of the Job

The Digital Enabler will work with the District Leadership Team and the Communications Officer to build the digital communications capacity of the District at every level, to facilitate effective participation by all members in the life of the church in the North West District, and to make use of new opportunities for mission and community-building in the digital sphere.

Key Responsibilities

1.Ensure that the District leadership is able to fulfil its responsibilities by ensuring there are reliable digital platforms for online, live-streamed and recorded meetings and events, for electronic dissemination of information (via web, social media and mailings), and audio and video recording and sharing..

2.Enable all members of churches in the District to have the opportunity for participation in District forums and events, and to receive information from their District and Circuits.

3.Co-operate with District and Circuit leaders, ministers and pioneers in the development of new forms of mission and church communities using a range of digital resources.

Key Tasks

Training and Support

1.Create a digital strategy for the District, identifying the essential resources and support needed to enable full participation at every level, and the opportunities for missional work in the online world.

2.Support the administration and governance of the District by facilitating online synods, committees and consultations.

3.Build a network of “digital champions” within Circuits and provide advice and support for local training and capacity building.

4.Devise and deliver online training courses for Circuits and churches.

5.Develop a “Digital Community of Practice” across the District, and linking where appropriate across the Connexion, which will envisage and create new ways of being and growing church in the digital age.

6.Work with safeguarding officers to raise awareness of digital safeguarding issues, and create usable information and guidelines for Circuits and churches.

Facilities and Resources

1.Work with the Communications Officer in building and maintaining the District’s online presence, including the website and social media.

2.Develop a range of digital tools and resources for the use of the District and its Circuits, and assist in their implementation. (These could include servicing local website and social media initiatives, plan-making and emailing applications.)

3.Collect and disseminate information on digital specialists in the District who can serve Circuits and churches. (This could include graphic designers, web and database programmers, audio-visual and streaming experts and others.)

Events and Online Communities

1.Provide technical support for online and live-streamed District events, including advertising, registration and ticketing, online and streaming facilities.

2.Work with the Mission Area Leads, Circuits and pioneers in implementing digital services, online communities and missional initiatives.

Personal Training and Growth

1.Maintain an awareness of changes in digital applications and resources, and consider how they can be used in the District.

Ealing and Hounslow Community Voluntary Service is a registered local charity that has been supporting voluntary and community sector (VCS) groups in Ealing for over 30 years and Hounslow groups since 2012.

In this rapidly changing world where our sector continues to face many challenges and take on new opportunities, it is highly appropriate that Ealing and Hounslow CVS has undertaken a process of reviewing and planning for the next three years. Consulting with our stakeholders has been a refreshing process, and has provided us with an opportunity to study how well we delivered our core themes from our latest Business Plan – developing, connecting, representing and innovating with the third sector in Ealing and Hounslow - and to establish new and more relevant themes of work for future delivery.

Ealing and Hounslow CVS is a second-tier organisation that works with local charities and voluntary organisations in Ealing and Hounslow. The overall aim is to provide a professional and effective service to local voluntary organisations through assistance and through forming consortia and bidding for major tranches of funding aimed at improving the lives of the local communities.

PURPOSE OF THE POST
Promote and support volunteering in Ealing and Hounslow. 
Raise the profile of informal, formal, and corporate volunteering. 
Design, develop, and implement social action projects reflecting the local community's needs. 
Collaborate with Ealing and Hounslow Council’s Community Engagement Teams on initiatives and events. 
Support disadvantaged groups in volunteering and social action. 
 
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Volunteering Promotion and Support
Promote volunteering to residents, VCS groups, statutory sector, and local businesses. 
Ensure access to volunteering opportunities for residents from hard-to-reach communities or isolated areas. 
Coordinate regular training and events to promote volunteering benefits. 
Run drop-in sessions at various outreach locations within Ealing and Hounslow.

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. MAP is the leading UK charity delivering health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation, and displacement in the occupied Palestinian territory and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.

Job Purpose

The Deputy Director of People and Culture will help implement the organisation's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention, and development ensuring that the HR policies and processes best support MAP’s mission. With 130 staff, growing to 170 during 2025, across 4 countries, the Deputy Director of People and Culture is also responsible for ensuring consistency throughout the organisation, fostering a common sense of belonging across all its offices, and supporting an inclusive, thriving work environment for all throughout the complete work life cycle. They will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the HR department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organisation's mission and talent strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources

· Ensure continuous organisational improvements for all departments across MAP and be responsible for planning, coaching, and consulting with teams and individuals who need assistance solving organisational challenges. 

· Implement a variety of initiatives, action plans, and training materials aimed at strengthening the functional areas within MAP.

· Be accountable for the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to onboarding and deployment, compensation & benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development.

· Identify staffing and recruiting needs and develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management.

· Support diversity and inclusion initiatives as relevant.

· Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law and apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.

· Monitor and ensure MAP’s compliance with local employment laws and regulations in which MAP staff operate and recommended best practices.

· Plan and manage all aspects of staff deployment including in occupied zones. Tasks may include risk assessments, training, health and safety measures, logistics, and legal compliance.

· Provide continuous support and develop emergency response plans, ensuring staff well-being and effective post-deployment reintegration.

· Provide comprehensive reports when required to MAP’s SMT and Board.

Organisational Development

Person Specification

Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.

· At least 5-7 years of experience in medical aid, conflict/occupied zones, or a similar field. 

· Strong background in human resources within the NGO sector.

· Proven experience in implementing organisational strategies and values, ensuring alignment with company goals, and fostering a cohesive, value-driven culture.

· Success in ensuring the safety, well-being, and effectiveness of staff deployed in occupied territories.

· Experience with working in a diverse and multi-cultural environment, including the ability to recognise and address challenges arising from working in occupied zones.

As Community Fundraising Co-ordinator for the Huntington’s Disease Association, you will help deliver our strategic plans and objectives by generating and growing income through community fundraising activities. You will support our existing supporters and community fundraising portfolio as well as proactively expanding our reach with community-based groups, organisations, and volunteers, to ensure maximum financial return for the charity. Through the development of community fundraising products, you will engage with our supporters in new and exciting ways.

This is an essential role in a small, national organisation supporting people affected by Huntington's disease. This is an income-generating role, but it is also about connecting with our supporters and creating long-term relationships for the future. 

You will develop and deliver excellent stewardship for supporters and fundraising groups to secure and maximise income; you will advise supporters on fundraising legal requirements, fundraising policies and regulations, ensuring that all community fundraising activities meet the high standards of the Huntington’s Disease Association. In addition, you will also manage your own financial income and expenditure targets and budgets. 

You will be able to demonstrate experience of fundraising at a charity as well as experience of budget management. You will represent and promote the work, vision and purpose of the Huntington's Disease Association.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment and Induction 

• Volunteer recruitment – Conduct advertising and recruitment to ensure that there are enough people applying to volunteer at CoSS; ensuring people seeking sanctuary are aware of the opportunities available and able to access them. 

• Inductions – Lead and further develop inductions for new volunteers ensuring that these sessions are well attended and are accessible to volunteers from all backgrounds. 

• Initial support - Support new volunteers to start volunteering at CoSS and facilitate an initial probation period during which more support is available to each volunteer. 

• Administration - Work with the CoSS Administrator to conduct required administration associated with inducting new volunteers and running the volunteer team. 

 Volunteer Training and Progression  

• Volunteer Training – Deliver a wide range of training for the volunteer team that covers key essential areas alongside other training needs that may arise. 

• Training for people seeking sanctuary – Provide additional support to people seeking sanctuary to access a wide range of training and development opportunities. 

• Volunteer Reviews - Conduct regular volunteer reviews and meetings to gather feedback and to celebrate the work of the team.

Volunteer Socials and Personal Support  

• Volunteer Wellbeing - Support the wellbeing of volunteers and provide spaces for them to share and work through the challenges faced. 

• Volunteer Socials - Organise volunteer socials throughout the year. 

• Code of Conduct - Ensure all volunteers adhere to the CoSS code of conduct and manage issues that arise using CoSS's established policies and procedures. 

The Sanctuary 

• Work alongside the rest of the CoSS team, to ensure the smooth-running of The Sanctuary, our unique welcome centre for people seeking sanctuary.
