We are seeking a talented Interim Assistant Director of Programmes and Delivery, fully committed to our widening participation cause, to join the Senior Leadership Team for 8 months.
In your role, you will ensure that our centres are working effectively, that the high quality of programme delivery to young people is maintained across the network, and that targets are monitored and met. And of course, you will need to have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for working with young people and helping them achieve their ambitions.
As a member of our Senior Leadership Team you will also play an active and key role driving forward the broader objectives of the charity including its growth plans. Contract
This is an interim role from September 2024 to May 2025. This role can be either full-time or part-time (0.8 FTE) - responsibilities will be adjusted proportionally for part-time candidates.

We are a delivery organisation providing frontline educational services for young people. The role will be based at one of our centres. We are an organisation with team members at different stages of their career, including many in their first roles: We are committed to nurturing talent and providing a developmental culture for all. Our central operations team works in-person 4 days per week (or 3 days for a 0.8 FTE staff member) with 1 day from home.
Location

Salary
- £52,000 from September 2024.

Role Purpose
Provide strategic leadership for KLS’ Refugee Family Programme, ensuring that programme direction and delivery is strategically aligned, responds to learning and changes in context, and maximises our impact in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing clear and steady leadership and management to all aspects of our newly formed Refugee Family programme, which has grown out of previous separate projects to better meet the holistic needs of people we support.
- Managing and developing the budget and finances; whilst supporting the fundraising lead to secure its financial viability.
- Directly lead the scoping and planning of the Refugee Family Programme Strategy to:
- Develop and expand existing programmes.
- Identify opportunities to create, innovate and improve projects within the Refugee Family Programme - such as community outreach workshops, advocacy support, Educational Classes, and Groups, Mentoring and Clubs - to meet the needs of the people we support and those who may need our support in the future.
- Undertake regular horizon scanning and environmental analysis to ensure KLS has a full understanding of the potential for growth and programme development associated with the current, future and changing demand and need.
- Build and maintain effective networks and partnerships that will ultimately support people to realise their potential.
- Work with the Chief Operating Officer to develop appropriate processes, systems and working practices that create a continuous improvement approach and ensure insights-based impact reporting, evaluation and decision making.
- Through effective networking and building of positive relationships, act as an ambassador for the organisation to effectively promote and raise awareness of both the organisation and its work.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to your direct reports and overall team to achieve both the organisation’s overall vision and ensure excellence in delivery.
- Devise and design programme concepts and specifications and provide strategic recommendations for programme developments using effective research, planning, monitoring, and evaluation, ensuring projects meet needs of individuals, families, and the community.
- Ensure our programme delivery model is financially viable and sustainable, and underpinned by quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.
- Maintain oversight of the deployment of financial, people and organisational resources, ensuring effective budget management and use of resources across all programme delivery teams.
- Engage proactively with relevant stakeholders, networks, and particularly those who benefit from our projects, to support and directly inform the design of person-centred services.
- Continue to build and sustain strong relationships with our families and young people.
- Ensure programme delivery adheres to legislative requirements, good practice guidance and organisational policies and procedures.

- Work with fundraising lead to co-produce compelling cases for support for potential funders.

- As a senior leader in the organisation, visibly demonstrate KLS’ values and drive a positive, collaborative, and inclusive culture across the organisation.
Administration
- Recruit, train, manage and support the team, holding regular supervision sessions, annual appraisals and appropriate training and development.
- Ensure performance management and quality systems are in place to monitor and evaluate the project’s work, processes.
- Follow KLS’ safer recruiting process and ensure safeguarding members is a priority across the team.
- Ensure all member and project records are kept up to date on Salesforce.
- Work with the Senior Leadership and Finance Director to manage the programme budget, maintain financial records, monitor income and expenditure against budgets and targets, and report regularly and accurately to KLS’ Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.
- Oversee the team’s use of our database, Salesforce, for managing the programme, ensuring data accuracy and completeness, and working with external consultants to customise and integrate the database with KLS’ website, referral, and evaluation forms.
Safeguarding
- Responsible for embedding safeguarding best practice and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures across the programme team, ensuring that safeguarding is at the forefront of KLS’ delivery.
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Refugee Family Programme Team, working with Safeguarding Officers and Duty Leads to ensure all safeguarding concerns are managed and recorded appropriately and safeguarding cover is maintained across the team in line with KLS’ procedures.
Skills and Experience
- Extensive leadership and management experience, coupled with a track record of leading the strategic development of services for adults and children (of all ages) from the refugee community that improve their access to education and justice, reduce their isolation and improve their ability to navigate their journey.
- Extensive experience of working with people from vulnerable groups, especially children and young people, ensuring that clients’ needs are at the forefront of service planning and delivery.
- Experience of working with refugee communities.
- Up to date knowledge of the English education system, rights to education, the barriers facing refugee communities in accessing education and how these might be addressed.
- Understanding and experience of safeguarding, and health & safety (including trips and residentials for children and families), in theory and in practice.
- Experience of providing advice and advocacy support to people from vulnerable groups.
- Direct involvement in adopting a strategic approach to either replicating existing or developing new services / programmes in response to anticipated future demand or a change in the landscape.
- Evidence of successful strategic and operational resource management
- Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at a senior and strategic level.
- The ability to take a creative approach in respect to packages of support.

We are looking to recruit a law graduate (1-3 years post-graduation) with experience in environmental law, economic justice and/or international development to join our small but dynamic team. Depending on experience, the role will support our programmes challenging economic injustice caused by environmental damage, biodiversity loss, deforestation, illegal resource trafficking, climate change and conflicts over natural resources; promoting transparency and accountability in public and private institutions to encourage responsibility and minimise the impacts of corruption; and promoting fairer and more effective economic and fiscal policy tools to help states meet development goals and enhance the rule of law. Working as part of a small, busy team, you will have the opportunity to learn at very close hand what it means to work for an international NGO focusing on achieving environmental and economic justice. You will develop projects with a range of partners, including international agencies, NGOs and CSOs, and governments and government bodies. You will collaborate with a range of volunteer lawyers (law firms and barristers chambers) who are leading experts in their field. The role will also involve project management, assistance with fundraising, fulfilling compliance obligations, and evaluating and learning from projects.
Key Competencies:

Key Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with the Senior Legal Managers and/or Legal Manager to deliver and implement the programme strategy, in conjunction with the Executive Director, partners, staff and Board;
2. Assist in developing an understanding of the most effective policy tools and legal interventions to deliver the programme objectives, through engagement with volunteer lawyers, ILP partners, staff, Board and others;

Purpose of Role:
Reporting to the Supporter Care Manager, you will deliver excellent customer care to supporters and potential supporters of Operation Smile UK. As an integral part of the Supporter Care team, you will successfully support the Individual Giving programme and wider fundraising activities, providing support to ever increasing income and supporter stewardship for the delivery of increasing levels of unrestricted income for Operation Smile UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be the first point of contact for existing supporters and new supporters who respond to our fundraising activities by phone, email, letter or in person, letter, or email delivering outstanding supporter care
- Liaise with supporters in timely communication via email, phone, and mail with excellent customer care
- Priority is to answer incoming phone calls and escalate any difficult situations/complaints to Supporter Care Manager
- Support processing incoming phone and postal donations
- Assist with banking and processing incoming/outgoing post
- Be responsible for thanking our supporters including by letter, email and phone, despatch of information and fundraising materials

Skills and Experience Required:
Essential:

Who are Women’s Aid?
Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For almost 50 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse.
Purpose of the Public Affairs Officer role:
As the Public Affairs Officer in the External Affairs team at Women’s Aid, you will play a pivotal role in our government and parliamentary engagement work. This will include leading on monitoring parliamentary activity and identifying opportunities for Women’s Aid to influence the political agenda and ensure parliamentarians are kept up to date on issues related to domestic abuse. You will play a pivotal role in supporting our influencing work with the new government on key pieces of legislation, Women’s Aid’s next big campaign and assisting Women’s Aid’s secretariat role to the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Domestic Violence and Abuse. Alongside organising meetings and events for the APPG and with key political stakeholders, you will lead on the development of public affairs and campaigns materials, including policy bulletins, briefings, speaking notes and letters to government ministers.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Public Affairs Officer:
- Carry out regular political monitoring, keeping the team updated with important developments for Women’s Aid, identifying opportunities for influence and providing analysis on policy announcements.
- Draft newsletters, correspondence, and website and social media content for parliamentarians, Women’s Aid’s member services and campaigners on a range of campaign and policy priorities.
- Support Women’s Aid’s work on key pieces of legislation - responding to queries, drafting briefings and parliamentary questions, working with Parliamentarians on draft amendments, and the development of joint sector work.
- Lead on projects that widen participation in Women’s Aid public affairs and campaigning work, including organising meetings with sector colleagues, survivors, and our member services.
What we are looking for in our Public Affairs Officer:
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write copy for a range of audiences and formats, e.g., briefings, consultation submissions, correspondence and speaking notes.
- Experience of working in a political role or exposure within parliamentary institutions.
- Experience in liaising and working with external organisations and individuals, including via correspondence and joint working groups/joint sector meetings.
- Experience in supporting the delivery of projects and campaigns.

About the Caribbean Programme
In the Caribbean region, MAG together with CARICOM IMPACS is building on various assessments already undertaken in the region to provide targeted assistance to states with regard to weapons and ammunition management, policy and advocacy support, and engagement with a wide range of other partners. This innovative programme focuses on safety, security and sustainability, ultimately helping to create the conditions for peace and sustainable development.
Purpose/objective of the assignment
To support the Caribbean in its efforts to combat the illicit trafficking and proliferation of firearms and ammunitions fuelling armed violence, CARICOM IMPACS, MAG and UNLIREC will seek to develop sustainable, cost-effective options and material recommendations for Caribbean states on methods of final disposal of destroyed firearms and ammunition components. This will enhance the knowledge and capacity of Caribbean states to comply with local, regional and international obligations. These activities will ultimately contribute towards achieving SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), which highlights the illicit flow of arms as a key barrier towards peaceful societies.
The MAG team in partnership with CARICOM IMPACS and UNLIREC is therefore seeking the services of an individual consultant. The consultant will be responsible for conducting an assessment, research and analysis, engagement and outreach with key regional stakeholders, and developing and finalising a policy with instructive recommendations. This policy will be in alignment with applicable international frameworks, in SALW and ammunitions, the Caribbean Priority Actions on Addressing Illicit Trafficking of Firearms (2019), the Caribbean Firearms Roadmap, and relevant national legislations, taking into consideration, health, climate change and other applicable environmental policies.
Implementation arrangements
Desktop analysis and report writing can be carried out on a remote basis, but the successful candidate must be able to travel to select countries in the region to conduct consultations with key national stakeholder’s face to face.
The consultancy is intended to begin on 5 August 2024.
Scope of work
To support the Governments across the Caribbean Region to develop sustainable final disposal solutions for obsolete, surplus and confiscated weapons and ammunition, the Consultant will undertake the following tasks:
1) Initial Assessment and research - Contextual analysis, best practices and environmental review.
2) Stakeholder Engagement – Conduct site visits, consult with key stakeholders across the region, liaise and gather input from partner organisations.
3) Policy Development – Draft policy and technical guidelines in alignment with regulatory frameworks.
4) Validation Exercise – Facilitate feedback session, gather inputs and assess resources; develop action plan.
5) Prepare a brief report identifying research findings, stakeholder feedback, and policy drafts.
Person Specification
The Consultant must present with the following requisite qualifications and competencies:
- At minimum 5 years’ experience in developing policies related to arms control, environmental management, or public safety.
- Demonstrable knowledge in conducting environmental impact assessments, particularly related to hazardous materials.
- Strong understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks at both national and international levels, particularly concerning arms control and environmental protection.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey findings, recommendations, and policy drafts to diverse audiences.
- Experience working with the Caribbean region (preferable).
Preferred Qualifications:
· Training in the field of environmental assessments, environmental management and/or arms control.

Purpose of the job
The Head of Digital will be responsible for leading our digital, IT and information systems. They will also have oversight of AV and for the technical development of online education materials.
The post holder will lead the digital transformation of the organisation, continuously improving the effectiveness and impact of the Society. They will lead resource planning, management, reporting and coordination of projects/initiatives to deliver change in line with business requirements. This will involve leading end to end delivery digital projects, including technology delivery and change management required to improve, implement and embed digital systems, IT infrastructures and processes.
Main responsibilities
- Project manage major digital projects and ensure relationships with external stakeholders and engagement with Members, Staff and Service Users are all managed effectively.
- Research solutions and make recommendations for the improvement of systems and infrastructure.
- Appoint suppliers of digital services and oversee the Institute’s relationships with them, ensuring they provide a high-quality service and value for money.

The Young Women’s Keyworker will work with young women aged 15-24 to provide specialist 1:1 support to those referred into the service. Have a strong understanding of the context and challenges facing vulnerable young women and girls, including the impacts of domestic violence, mental health, and sexual health.
Bring a significant experience of working with young women experiencing issues related to offending and experience of community engagement, advocacy and support work with young people and have proven practical experience of using motivational interviewing and coaching techniques with young women and girls, using a woman-centred approach to build trust and rapport. With a proven track record of successfully leading policy and influencing work that has resulted in positive change to policy or legislation, ideally in relation to older people or tackling financial hardship, you will have an astute understanding of the political environment.

This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, which you can choose to work over five days or a 9 day fortnight.
