Victory Afghanistan is a volunteer -led nonprofit providing free online English lessons and mentoring for Afghan girls and women who are currently barred from formal education. Our mission is to equip them with the skills and confidence to apply for scholarships and university placements abroad.

We are looking for a number of volunteer IELTS Tutors to support our mentorship-level students from January to May 2026. These students already have an IELTS level of around 6.0 and now need focused preparation to achieve higher scores required for university entry.

You will be teaching bright, ambitious young women who are eager to perfect their academic English, improve their fluency, and succeed in international admissions. Lessons are held online once or twice a week, and materials can be adapted to suit your teaching style.

Commitment: 1–2 hours per week (online) depending on your availability.

This is not a traditional mentorship programme — it is a structured pathway designed to help young Afghan women develop the academic and professional skills needed to move forward despite the severe restrictions placed on them inside Afghanistan.

Applicants should hold either a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of professional experience. They should demonstrate emotional intelligence, clarity in communication, and the ability to guide, inspire, and challenge thoughtfully. A reliable internet connection is also essential.

Our students have completed six levels of English and are now enrolled in one of four mentorship semesters. Each mentee follows her own unique path, whether:

• Pursuing an online university degree,

• Applying for scholarships abroad (Europe or the US), or

• Seeking remote work or internships (particularly for qualified professionals currently unable to work inside Afghanistan).

This is an opportunity to make a tangible, life-changing impact. The women in our programme are courageous, determined, and eager to learn, yet they lack access to role models and practical guidance from professionals in their fields.

As a mentor, you will help them take the next step, n whether that means applying for scholarships, building a career portfolio, or gaining the confidence and professional skills to work remotely.

Our long-term goal is to move towards a 1:1 mentor-to-student ratio, ensuring that each young woman receives the personalised support she deserves.

What will I be doing?

• Travelling with designated van drivers to deliver and collect food 
• Representing FareShare in a courteous and professional manner at all times
• Supporting drivers to carry out routine checks on the vans, taking responsibility for the vans throughout the day and reporting accidents or damage to the van or other vehicles 
• Supporting drivers to complete all relevant paperwork
• Planning routes, sorting food, picking orders, loading and unloading vans 
• Assisting with maintenance of the vans including cleaning

As a WA, you would sort the food that we receive from our food partners and pick daily orders for charities. It’s a great way to keep fit and all you need is a sturdy pair of hands! 

What will I be doing?

• Working as part of a team to manually sort and store large deliveries of surplus food 
• Helping to assemble the daily deliveries of food for local charities and community groups 
• Making sure the food is within use by dates and handled safely 
• You may also be asked to contact our charity members to talk through the food we have available to create their weekly food order

What we need you to be:

• Able to perform physical tasks including lifting and loading 
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills to record quantities and types of food 
• Work well as part of a team 
• Happy to complete tasks independently according to instruction 
• Adaptable – managing surplus can be unpredictable so day to day tasks can vary

About the Role

Victory Afghanistan is seeking enthusiastic and committed Volunteer English Instructors to join our international online teaching team. We provide free English education to Afghan girls and women, helping them rebuild their futures through learning and mentorship.

Our next semester runs for 16 weeks, beginning 20 January 2026 and finishing 24 May 2026.

You do not need to be a qualified English teacher to apply, enthusiasm, reliability, and strong communication skills are most important. However, having teaching experience or a TEFL certificate would be advantageous. Join a multinational team of volunteers from 27 countries.

All curriculum materials, lesson plans, and assessments are provided. Volunteers only need to prepare for classes, teach their lessons, and complete light marking and feedback.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver two live online English lessons per week (1 hour each).

• Dedicate approx. 2 additional hours per week for preparation, marking, and communication.

• Follow the provided curriculum and assessments.

• Collaborate with co-instructors and program coordinators.

• Create a culturally sensitive and inclusive learning environment.

About the Students:

• All students are female and based in Afghanistan, aged 11 to 40.

• You’ll typically teach a group of around 10 students.
