The Volunteer Relationship Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimising the volunteer programme within the College of Paramedics.

With a focus on enhancing volunteer relationships and strengthening organisational capabilities, you will lead strategic initiatives to help to create a positive, productive, and rewarding experience for volunteers while maximising their contribution to our strategic objectives.

The Volunteer Relationship Manager will be required to:

• Recruitment and Onboarding – Develop best practice volunteer recruitment strategies, conduct interviews and volunteer screening and organise required induction sessions
• Volunteer Management – Match volunteers with appropriate roles, coordinate schedules and maintain the volunteer database
• Support and Development – Provide ongoing support to volunteers, identify opportunities for skill development and address any concerns

Recently our members voted to create a new u3a Council to act as a conduit between the national body and the over 1000 independent u3as throughout the UK. The new Council will be the vehicle by which members’ views and priorities will feed into and shape the overall work of the u3a national body. 

The Council Officer will support the implementation and running of the new u3a Council and play an integral role in embedding the Council into the existing structures of the Trust. They will work with the CEO and the Council Chair to ensure the Council has the support and resources it requires. The role will bring external ideas into the movement by identifying research, reports and speakers that might help inform its work. The officer will also prepare reports, agendas, minutes and be responsible for the general administration of the council and its working groups. 

The role would suit someone with an interest in community engagement and participation or policy and research in these areas. The right candidate will be able to work flexibly across a range of responsibilities and develop and implement ways of working as the Council develops, whilst having the ability to work with and manage a large group of volunteer's wide range of views and opinions.

Our day centre service is currently open three days per-week offering respite, food and somewhere safe to be for anyone facing street homelessness. It provides advocacy and casework services to those who are vulnerably housed or homeless, supporting them to address their individual crisis and the underlying causes. We also provide a small year-round night shelter provision. 

APAP works in close partnership with a number of key agencies locally including drug and alcohol teams, street outreach services, local authority housing teams and the wider VCS. We are a gateway service in the community through which our clients can access a range of support. 

This role will require a keen interest in homelessness and the devastating impact this can have on people. This is a new role which would suit someone with experience of recruiting and managing volunteers. The role will entail expanding our volunteer base, developing processes and procedures to effectively support them and managing them on site. The role will report to the Senior Project Worker.

The Volunteer and Training Coordinator role will play a key role in supporting the Youth Zone’s mission by managing the recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers. Main Responsibilities:

Promote volunteer opportunities through local networks, online platforms, and community organisations.

Meet with potential volunteers undertaking on boarding and other relevant screening procedures.

Ensure that all new volunteers are properly inducted, including the completion of necessary paperwork, safeguarding and health and safety training.

Maintain a volunteer database and track volunteer hours, roles, and training.

Provide ongoing support and guidance to volunteers, ensuring they feel valued and motivated.

Act as the primary point of contact for volunteers, addressing any concerns and resolving conflicts.

Organise regular volunteer catch ups and team-building activities to foster a supportive and cohesive volunteer community.

Coordinate the Youth Zone work placement programme, including the advertising of placements, development of the programme and evaluation of all placements.

Coordinator the learning and development across the Youth Zone, including volunteers and staff.

Manage the appraisal process, ensuring managers are aware of the requirements and that appraisals are being offered.

Deliver both existing and new training to all Youth Zone staff as and when required

Regularly evaluate volunteer satisfaction, training effectiveness and the work placement programme. , and the overall volunteer program’s success.

Prepare reports on engagement, training outcomes, and recommendations for improvements.

Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and organisational policies, particularly regarding safeguarding and volunteer welfare.

Person Specification:

Proven experience in volunteer or training coordination, ideally within a youth-focused or community-based organisation.

Working hours

Remuneration package

Salary: £26,000 (depending on experience and prorated for part time)

Pension: Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone operates a workplace pension scheme with Royal London for auto-enrolment purposes. You will contribute 5% of your gross earnings whilst the Youth Zone will contribute 3%. Sebby's Corner is based in Barnet, EN5 and our aim is to ensure that no child goes without the basic essentials they need to thrive. We supply items such as clothing, nappies, formula and baby equipment to local families living in poverty. Families in need get referred to us by social workers, health visitors, family support workers, midwives and other professionals. We work with almost 800 different referral partners across 400 different organisations.

We also offer school uniform support and we have a Birthday Club that ensures that a child who would otherwise go without has a gift, cake, balloons and decorations to celebrate their special day. At Christmas, we host a Grotto where parents can come and choose a gift for their child at no cost. Key Tasks and Accountabilities

Volunteer Management

• Oversee the day-to-day management of volunteers, ensuring tasks are clearly defined and their time is used productively.

Salary and pension

The salary for this role is £28,500 annum FTE (this will be pro-rated to reflect your working hours if you work less than 35 hours per week and is subject to normal deductions). If eligible to join the pension, we will match your contributions by 5%.

Annual leave

You will be entitled to 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays (these will be pro-rated to reflect your working hours if you work less than 35 hours per week). We usually give the team time off between Christmas and New Year that doesn’t come off your allowance.

Main Purpose

Patient Experience Manager - Horatio’s Garden, Stoke Mandeville

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced manager for a prestigious new role in our garden at the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville. 

Horatio’s Garden is a nationwide charity creating and nurturing beautifully designed gardens in NHS’s spinal injury centres. The Patient Experience Manager will be the figure head/ambassador for the garden. 

You will be responsible for the smooth running of a thriving, vibrant garden ensuring the patient and their family are appropriately supported throughout their time in Stoke Mandeville. 

This role requires you to manage a large established team of volunteers and work closely with the Gardener who maintains the horticultural standard of the garden and delivers therapeutic horticulture sessions. 

You will be managed by the national Patient Experience Lead, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with clinical and non-clinical NHS staff, corporate sponsors, funders, the Fundraising team, and the Events Programme Manager. 

The fully accessible garden has been beautifully designed and maintained, and the role of the garden needs to reflect an appropriate environment for patients and their families at all stages of their recovery.  From the initial welcome, to ensuring the contact and relationship is consistent with activities to suit their needs.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering social activities, supported by the charity’s Events Programme Manager and in collaboration with the wider Stoke Mandeville team. These activities will mainly need to be held on a weekend afternoon which is a critical time in the garden when most patients are available and often have friends and family to visit. Currently the Arts programme includes crafts, quizzes, seasonal celebrations with lunches, in addition sessional creative experts also deliver glass fusing workshops, felting, printing, talks, painting, ceramic workshop, live music performances.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident, proactive individual who is efficient, well organised and has outstanding communication and relationship building skills. You will need to be adaptable and friendly and confident working with a wide range of people including people with spinal injuries and their families, NHS staff, volunteers and many different teams within the charity.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

· Develop relationships with patients and families to ensure the best experience for them in the garden at every stage of their rehabilitation

· Develop and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with NHS clinical teams and voluntary services

· Work with the newly appointed Impact Manager to monitor patient experience and the impact of the garden

· Manage the team of volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the garden with patient experience at its core

· Maintain a consistent social and arts activity programme appropriate for the current patient group, liaising with the Events Programme Manager and managing the volunteers accordingly

· Host corporate sponsor events and fundraising opportunities

· Work with fundraising managers and volunteers to develop opportunities to generate income in the garden through friends, corporate friends and third-party fundraising

· Ensure the garden is managed to allow the correct balance is in place to benefit both patients and external parties (major donors, trusts, corporate groups and other visitors)

· Represent the garden and charity at key events and speaking opportunities

· Work closely with the communications team to develop and ensure clear messaging in and outside the garden

· Ensure all budgeting and administrative tasks associated with the garden are monitored, completed and maintained

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

You’ll lead and grow our community fundraising activity — building strong relationships with schools, local groups, and volunteers to help us raise vital funds. You’ll plan and deliver community events, support third-party fundraisers, and be a friendly, visible presence at public events. You’ll also manage our amazing volunteers, creating engaging opportunities and making sure everyone feels valued and supported

What we are looking for:
- Experience of working with and managing volunteers
- Strong planning and operational service delivery skills
- An understanding of the needs of different communities, including people with protected characteristics
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven ability to monitor and ensure the quality of services provided by volunteers
- Experience in supportive environments, particularly within healthcare settings, including palliative and bereavement care

The successful candidate will support the delivery and coordination of the volunteer services including the management and supervision of volunteers, receiving referrals and matching volunteers with terminally ill people and/or their carers. The role will also be responsible for developing strong partnership networks with the community, community groups and organisations in the area in order to develop better end of life care for all.

About the Bloom Service

Barnardo's Swansea Bloom Service works directly with care experienced young people to help improve their emotional wellbeing, resilience and self confidence. Our aim is to create a positive space for them to explore their identity, passions, and potential. The support on offer includes  the opportunity to take part in amazing activities, life coaching, befriending and peer mentoring.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join Barnardo's as a Volunteer, Befriending and Peer Mentoring Co-ordinator (Project Worker 2).

The contract is for 25 hours a week to cover the maternity leave of the substantive post holder until 31st March 2025.

Bloom is a growing service offering a unique opportunity for the right person to develop, co-ordinate and deliver our Volunteer, Befriending and Peer Mentoring work using established and innovative approaches. The Co-ordinator will be responsible for recruiting and managing a team of volunteers, befrienders and peer mentors who will help young people to improve their physical and mental well-being by supporting them to access a range of exciting activities, helping them to find new interests and hobbies and engage in healthy activities in the community

You will undertake the role of Volunteer, Befriending and Peer Mentoring Co-ordinator reporting to the Children's Service Manager and acting as line manager to the service's volunteers.

The successful candidate will be required to carry out the following duties (in addition to those on the generic job description):- 

• Continued development and delivery of the Volunteer, Befriending and Peer Mentoring element of the Bloom service.
• Recruit and train volunteers, befrienders and peer mentors
• Effectively match volunteers/befrienders/peer mentors to support young people
• Effectively utilise the Barnardo's specialist volunteer management system (Vol 1)
• Provide ongoing support and supervision of volunteers
• Keep accurate statistical information and assist in producing service performance reports for the organisation and funders.
• Support project engagement events and empower young people to share their voice and ensure that Bloom continues to be a young person led project
• Assist in quality assurance of every aspect of the service
• The service requires flexibility of work as we support young people around their needs.

You will have: 

• Experience of working within a volunteering setting preferably at the level of co-ordinating the service this can be in a employment, education, training or volunteering setting
• Experience of recruiting, inducting and retaining volunteers
• Experience of keeping statistical information and completing performance reports for funders
• The ability to line manage  volunteers
• An understanding of the needs of care experienced/vulnerable young people and an awareness of the factors impacting on their lives

Bloom is made up of three elements all of which work together:

Life Coaching - there is a dedicated life coach

Giving young people the power to unlock their own potential for positive change, by providing them with the tools to build resilience, improve wellbeing and understand themselves better. Coaching empowers young people to think about and move forward positively in their lives, by creating and working towards specific goals through 1:1 sessions with our life coach. 

Volunteer, befriending and peer mentoring - there is a dedicated volunteer coordinator

• Volunteers – to help with activities
• Befriending - members of the local community befriend and provide ongoing assistance to service users are moving to independence
• Peer mentors – care experienced adults who can offer invaluable guidance to care experienced young people by drawing on their own experiences

Activities there are 2 engagement workers 

Giving young people regular opportunities to get together to experience activities not easily accessed by care experienced young people. Led by the expressed wishes of young people they could be experiences such as sports, adventuring, outdoor events, gardening clubs, cooking clubs.

Key Tasks

• Lead and deliver projects as part of a high-quality programme of support and development for the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector and Communities in Buckinghamshire. (See appendix)
• Lead on specialist knowledge areas, including supporting the leadership team to develop strategies, policies and procedures, and advising/training VCSE organisations on the subject. (See appendix)

Base of Work

Hybrid typically minimum 1 day per week at Community Impact Bucks’ Office near Aylesbury with the rest working from home. Birmingham Settlement is looking to recruit an energetic and adaptable individual to help us develop and build our volunteer offer across the organisation.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about people and volunteering. Working across our bases in Kingstanding, Ladywood and Newtown as well as our Floating Community Hub, the ‘Ellen Gee’, and our 3 charity shops (Sutton, Boldmere, and Wylde Green), you will deliver several core objectives of our new National Lottery Reaching Communities “Connected Communities” programme, by developing and coordinating meaningful volunteer roles that make a difference.

In this key role, you will be recruiting volunteers, supporting their induction and helping us to celebrate the wonderful contribution that volunteers make to our charity. You will ensure that volunteers are well equipped to carry out their roles competently and confidently as well as support existing volunteers and ensure processes and procedures are firmly embedded.

You will work with our teams to develop new volunteer-led activities that achieve positive outcomes aligned with our organisational aims and objectives, and monitor, measure and communicate the impact volunteers make to the ‘Settlement – and beyond.

You will need excellent organisational skills, experience of community engagement, be skilled in building relationships, have close attention to detail, and a passion for working with people.
